  1. MC Name: MorriSaye

    Character's Name: Mayna

    Character's Age: 5

    Character's Original Race: Sprite; White

    Transformed form: None

    Creator's MC Name: None

    Creator's RP Name: None

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Sprites are born from the Acerfolia flower. They stand between 5 and 7 inches tall. Each sprite has a color that shapes the base of their personality. The color determines the toxin that they have to defend themselves.

    Examples:
    Applied color information:

White sprites are by far the most innocent sprites. They hate to see people hurting, and they love helping everyone around them. They are pure and are said to shine the brightest out of all the sprites. In fact, it is said they will guide lost people out of the woods by using their bodies as a guide of sorts. The white sprite toxin is LN2. It acts like a small dose of liquid nitrogen, freezing a patch on the skin of the attacker. This patch is painful, and it would need to be properly treated to function normally again. It would most likely be able to be revived in about 15 minutes.

Couple other color info for the heck of it:

Brown sprites are the savage sprites, more or less. They prefer to be solitary and within the wilds. They don't like talking with anyone, including their kin. They will rip into their food and act like an animal. Their toxin is Trimethylamine. It causes the area around the sprite or for the aggressor against the sprite to get a foul odor. If left on a descendant, it can be washed off.

Grey sprites appear sick, depressed. They are manipulative and will use their appearance to get people to help them. They use propofol to basically knock out their target. It causes the person to fall into a drowsy, coma like state.

They are capable of communing with nature in the same way Druids are, though they had no control over any of it. They can't use magic. They can't use weapons. Magic is a major weakness, and injury to their wings would more than likely mean certain death for a sprite. They are asexual and genderless, but do take on some physical characteristics of either gender.

I accept this condition and make it entirely upon my free will.

  4. * - Tell me about your character. What race are they? What is their in-character job? What professions do you have on that persona?

Two main characters that I have played for the last 6-9 months.

Ashton (created 2/17/2016). Human. She is currently a Druid guide. Her primary profession is farming.

Avayla (started playing 5/11/2016). Wood Elf. Minister of the Interior of Sutica, Sirame, former woodshop owner, former tavern owner. Veteran woodworker, near veteran lumberjack.

    * - Why did you choose the professions you chose? What made you pick it over all the rest, even those who don't have a ton of players already working on them? Do your professions match your character's roleplay/in-character profession?

With Ashton, farming is quite fitting. I chose it, because I enjoy farming, and it seems only natural that a Druid would take up farming.

With Avayla, I chose woodworking since it's her racial profession. Lumberjack came along with that. For the timet hat she was a wood shop owner, those things ICly came into play.

    * - How many minas do you have on that persona? On all your personas? How many minas do you gain in a week?
    Ashton -- Maybe 100?

    Avayla -- 200, I think.

I rarely gain any minas in a single week. I do not actively try to earn money for myself. I tend to strictly RP.

    * - What do you spend your money on? What do you save up for? What's something you want to buy but don't have enough for?

Heads. More heads. Never can have enough heads. Also, diamond axes and hoes. I also save up for housing whenever I live in a place that requires me to pay taxes.

    * - How often do you trade items for minas? If you're a crafter, approximately how many crafts do you sell?

Only if it ever comes up in RP. Not extremely often these days.

    * - Have you ever seen a nexus item (read: non RP) that you've gone "That's a pretty good item. I'm going to spend minas to buy it."? If so, what has it  been?

    Not really.

  5.

    • Minecraft name(s):
      MorriSaye/MorriBae

    • Skype ID:
      mcmorrisaye

    • Timezone:
      EST

    • Do you hold / have you held any other staff positions?
      I am currently a FM.

    • What MMORPG/video games have you/do you play (past and present)?
Way too many. Relevant RP ones would be: Ultima Online, World of Warcraft, Diablo I & II, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights. I've been playing video games since 1993 and MMORPGs since 1998. There's too many to list.

    • What are your characters? Are you willing to sacrifice any to become a event team member?
Avayla, Ashton, and Milena are the three I am going to be actively using for my own purposes. They are not something I'm willing to sacrifice. That being said, Avayla is on my MorriBae account, the other two are on my MorriSaye account. Both accounts have 3 persona slots each. My third slot and other two slots on MorriBae are available.

    • What race / group do you think your events would best cater to? If none in particular, give an example of the type of group that your events would entertain.
I don't think there's any one group in particular. I do love nature things, so the Druids might like some ideas I have. However, most of the things I think of are general audience, things that bring people together. I like doing things that people from all sides of the server can come in and enjoy themselves.

    • What do you believe are key factors for a successful event?
I think flexibility is the biggest factor that ETs have to have. Not every event is going to go 100% how you want it to go. Probably few to none will, actually. You have to be ready to quickly alter things at the drop of a hat and accept that. You have to have multiple paths the people can go down.
I also think patience is another big one. Group roleplay can be a little hectic at times. The bigger the group, the more you have to really watch the actions of others and address the individual things. It can be difficult if you're not patient.

    • What strengths could you contribute to the event department? Are you knowledgeable in lore or great at organizing?
Organizing is my specialty. I even have a daily planner dedicated just to LotC. I believe I know quite a bit of lore now as well. I love lore, and I'm very persnickety in making sure the things I do are lore appropriate. I'm an exceedingly active player to put it mildly. I know I have the time, ideas, and drive to do whatever is needed of me outside of my own events. I would absolutely love to act and help the other ETs.

    • Why do you want to be part of the ED?
I've been planning events for the groups I'm a part of, talking to some ETs, and I've gotten to this point where I feel like this is something I'd deeply enjoy. I like planning and working on events. I enjoy seeing them play out in the moment. It's an amazing RP aspect, and I want to be able to provide fun events for everyone, not just the groups I'm in at the moment.

    • Create three distinct RP scenarios/events based on LOTC lore that you would organize. These are pitches to the managers and the lead, not to the community. Note: not all of the group must be handled at once. Eg: 20+ people via 5 person increments in a dungeon.
Idea 1: The base of this idea is throw a nice festival, but at some point, an unexpected factor is thrown in. Most people would expect the festival to be the main attraction, but they're met with some sort of show stopper that completely changes the course of things.

For this example, I could have someone play the role of an exotic animal tamer. They're giving a demonstration of one of the large beasts of Ceru outside of Sutica. The beast seems tame through most of the festival, but at some point, something spooks it. The beast breaks free and the people have to figure out what to do. Slay it, calm it, trap it...It's up to their actions what happens. If they provoke the beast further, it would become violent and possibly deadly. If they reacted in calming way, it might turn out to be some special creature that can give them something.

There are many things that could happen, though. It's an endless amount of possibilities for what could cause the festival to go awry in a fun way.

Idea 2: A convict escapes from a prison and goes to one of the capitals. Word is sent that this dangerous person is on the loose, and the guards of whatever town they go to should be on the look out. While the guards search the streets, the convict would try to convince bystanders to help him/her escape, pleading their case with each person they come across.

The convict is chased through town until they either get captured or the people help him/her escape. In the end, there's some twist. Whoever ends up getting the convict gets a prize. If the guards capture the escapee, the person who issued the warrant will come to meet them and give them something special for their good work. If the people help the convict escape, they will be given something special as a thanks. Nothing big, just a small token perhaps.

It could lead to some more interesting fugitive events centered around that character. The twist would probably be that the character has some renown somewhere and if people knew who they were, it would cause a problem.

Idea 3: A child washes up the shore. People find him and try to help him find his home, however bad luck follows wherever he goes. The people who attempt to help him have tricks played on them constantly. The child falls ill frequently and is overall quite odd. More bizarre things keeps happening, pulling in more people across time.

Once he is established, for better or for worse, it is revealed he is a changling child. When his people come to take their child back, it would result in the people of this child's life having to make a choice. Would they turn the child over to the trickster, evil family he came from, knowing what they would turn him into? Would they protect him and deny his kin, invoking their wrath?

This idea would likely require me to write up some lore for the exact way I'd want it, but I love this type of plot. It would work for small groups, but being a continuous, build up sort of thing, it could affect many lives.

    • How long do you plan to stay on the ED?
As long as you'll have me!

    • Tell me a joke!
Who was King Arthur's favorite knight?

  10. MC Name: Morrisaye/MorriBae

    Skype Name: mcmorrisaye

    Timezone: EST

    Age: 25

Do you have Discord? (you need to): I have it, but I'm not actively using it until I have a group to use it with.

Do you feel that you have a solid grasp on our lore and an understanding of the application standards?: I do.

Why do you want to be an AT member and do you have the ability to work and collaborate with others?:

I was recently the head of the A-Team over on the Birthright server. I love reviewing applications, and before I ever worked as an AT there, I would read through applications for fun. I do so here on LotC as well. I am currently a forum moderator here, so I am already on the forums throughout the day. I have the time and ability to carefully go through applications, and it's something I legitimately enjoy.

I am very good at working with others. I like things to be efficient. ICly, I am the Minister of the Interior in Sutica. That job requires me to work with many people, keep open lines of communication, negotiate, and keep things organized for an entire team. The same was true for my head AT position on Birthright. I don't believe I would have been voted into that position had I not been excellent at communicating and working with others.

Beyond reviewing whitelist applications, what ways do you think you would enjoy helping new applicants?:

I love answering questions for new people and helping them figure out where it is they possibly belong on the server. While over on Birthright, I would receive many messages for help with applications and starting character development. This is something I like doing. I would walk through the lore with people, showing them what they would need to go know for their character as well as other interesting bits of lore that could help them figure out the groups, places, races, etc. that they'd maybe like to get to know or who could help them get the hang of things.

How do you think the server’s application process could be improved?:

I don't really have any ideas for how the server's application process could be better. It seems efficient from what I've seen, and since I've never been a member of the team, I don't think it's fair for me to say any one thing is wrong. A-Team tends to be a fairly self reliant team from my experience. It's up to each member to prove themselves as being efficient and effective. Beyond that, the process is fairly straight forward.

Is there anything else you would like to add or that we should know about you?:

I enjoy organizing things so much that I have a specific daily planner just for LotC. Also, I have two kids in real life. I think they're awesome.

    Tell me a joke:

Helium walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve noble gasses here." He doesn't react.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?: Communion and Control

Summarise the Lore of this magic(s):

    Communion

This is the base of their abilities. They meditate, train, and receive lessons in order to strengthen their ability in communion. In the beginning, through meditation, they can hear the nature around them and feel it moving about. However, the signals are difficult to decipher. As time goes on and with much practice, a Druid is able to understand more of what is around them.

    Control

Control of Nature is used to guide things in nature to aid the Druid. While a Druid can't force anything to act against its true nature (a pet turning against its master when truly loyal; forcing a peaceful creature to go full attack predator mode), they more a Druid practices communion and control, the more persuasive they will be to the flora and fauna. A new Druid wouldn't be able to do much, if anything, in terms of control without becoming drained quickly. While more powerful Druids can do quite a bit, they also will become tired after extended use of their abilities.

Write up a lesson that your character would give to a student:

For communion, Ashton would take her newly attuned student to a small clearing, sparse aside from the wildlife and a few flowers. She'd sit with the Druid and guide them in meditation, leading them through the clearing inch by inch and helping them find small forms of life. From there, she would try to encourage them to focus on each thing they find and attempt to identify the location and type of creature/plant based on what signals they are receiving. This lesson would continue periodically, between other lessons, until the new Druid is able to confidently tell where their focus is directed and is able to comprehend what they are getting from that interaction to some extent.

For control of nature, she would sit with the new Druid and give them a potted seed. They would not only have to use their ability in communion to focus on that seed, but they would then be told to coax it to sprout. She would encourage the student to speak openly to the seed, even if they feel silly at first. The goal of the lesson would be to get the student to remain calm while focused on trying to control the plant to be more persuasive, like trying to convince a kitten to come out from under a bush. The Druid would continue the lesson until they begin feeling tired. This lesson would be repeated whenever the Druid feels they have made progress until they are able to get the seed to sprout without becoming drained. Then, in similar fashion, they would learn to help the flower grow at an increased rate until they are proficient in this.

I also used schematica for both of those builds, and, trust me, even when I thought I was overestimating on top of the printable list, it wasn't ever enough. Those builds had the sort of huge size and variety of blocks that gathering resources ahead of time took a ridiculous amount of time and still always left me needing more halfway through (including some modreq materials that I thought I modreqqed enough of before), so it's possible with smaller or less block-varied builds this isn't a big deal, but when you have a build that uses more kinds of materials than your inventory can even carry even with a dozen trips, losing fake money to get back real time sounds pretty lovely. The first one (where I didn't even have fly) I'd already gathered the materials for a massive ship we ended up not building, and already had a wall of dubchests of wood, stone, and stone brick. It was not enough. It was never enough. I had to do so many trips. I'd have gladly paid overprice for LC then.

I see what you mean there. We use mostly nature based items (leaves & wood). We honestly don't have a huge variation in item type. If you were to throw in several types of blocks, especially the free ones, you'd save money.

So, yes, for larger, varied builds -- I see the benefit. It's for smaller or less varied builds that it doesn't make sense. Yet, even with less varied builds, they can become quite large and time consuming. We'd love to be able to use LC. Just for these prices, our needs aren't met.

Though, my complaint is more pointing out that their own system is flawed. Either the prices here should be lowered or the prices of their resource buying should be raised to make it comparable.
