  1. Maybe the plain ol' creature Djinn stay there in the desert but there's a playable version that can roam anywhere and above ground. Lore wise a small group of Djinn that have a significantly higher amount of blue flame therefore have personalities? I was also playing around with the idea of tethering a Djinn to an object to reflect real world lore to how they're evil genies but that part might be a stretch.
  2. Oh lol yeah the blue flame isn't actually characteristic of the heat, just the magical essence that's specific to them.
  3. I was thinking it's a non playable creature, I'm not quite sure why someone would wanna play it though because in my head they're animals who really don't do anything besides exist and feed. But now that you mention it, it probably would be an interesting door to particular kinds of RP, though the whole desert biome and not exactly being very sociable could be limiting.
  4. Description: Unlike traditional lore, these Djinns actually have a physical form which looks like a rotting corpse that still has its flesh, burning from the inside with blue fire which is their life force. Therefore, it can be harmed physically. They are created from magic and their bodies can be taken either from corpses or smushed together from general biomass. They are humanoid with the proportions of an average adult human male and their skin has a dried out grey tone to it. Biomass will shift and change to form a humanoid body. Djinn are solitary creatures who live only in desert biomes, coming together only if there is a large amount of prey in the same spot. Normal proportions with blue fire. How it Kills: Djinn stay buried beneath the sand in desert biomes, burrowing their way through the grains in a swimming fashion, identifying their prey by a sense of life force. It casts shadows on the nearby environment to confuse and stall victims while it makes their way underneath them. With precise timing, it emerges from the sand and quickly induces a coma on the victim in which the victim dreams their perfect life while the Djinn slowly feeds on their life force until the victim is drained totally and dies. This blissful state the victim is in keeps them surpressed despite their having full consciousness within the context of their dream reality and sometimes will prefer to die a happy death even if they realize they're being killed. The Djinn however does expend energy to hold the coma and the feeding process can range from 12 hours to 40. Outside of its normal attack pattern however, a Djinn is formidable in combat with the ability to throw fireballs and vomit life force which burns on contact. How to Kill It: Any normal methods for a living being can be used, although magic has specific advantages such as providing a defense against the coma, resisting the life force siphon, recognizing its presence early on, and being able to crush the Djinn with more overall base power. During coma, if a victim recognizes that their perfect life is a dream and kills themselves within it, they will wake up. This awakened state of mind will provide protection against a Djinn's coma ability for 24 hours. On death, a Djinn's corpse will collapse and fizzle with its own life force as its blue flame dies, eventually melting into the sand. Mechanics: -Feed on the life force of other beings to keep their blue flame up -Stay below sand unless holding a victim in a coma -Finite amount of blue flame that keeps them alive, cannot be created nor destroyed, nor contained aside from the ritual to create them. -Creates distracting shadows -Able to throw fireballs of blue flame or vomit it out at close range -Become weaker when flame is lost, able to regather it if they are sufficiently fed life force though it takes a few seconds -Can go into hibernation to keep their flame alive (minimally) if they can't find prey for a long period of time and will wake up only if a victim gets into the general proximity -If a victim breaks out of their dream state, a Djinn is weak and incapacitated for a moment (1-2 seconds) as they regather themselves.
