”Event lines”. Sorry I’ve been here for the last year and I’ve not seen any event line where they try to rediscover these lost technologies.

Alright, time to kick this off. For starters, matchlocks were not widespread in Europe until the 15th or 16th centuries, this is confirmed by a simple google search and look at a few scholarly articles. Secondly, there are so so many inventions that come before guns. For example, the discovery of something similar to gunpowder in our fantasy world, cannons (which existed for centuries before guns did but which are something we do not have yet and are essential in understanding the physics behind guns), fireworks, rockets are all to name a few. If this is something that should be done and I believe that LoTC should have guns at some point, it should be explainable IRP. This isn’t something where a lore submission should be made and guns just pop out of the dirt a few months from now. If you’re claiming Oren wants guns as badly as they do, why not have them create an R&D team to actually make a solid storyline out of where guns came from. Guns are something that were worked on for literally hundreds of years to perfect. Hell, it took humanity four centuries to go from a matchlock musket to a flintlock one. There should be research done about it imo where people test prototypes and all sorts of other **** and matchlocks definitely aren’t the place to start. Rhodesiaa stated earlier that we could start off with extremely rudimentary handcannon type weapons and I think that’s a fantastic idea. Start somewhere simple and gradually increase the technology over time. This is my two cents on it and you’re free to take it as you will but I firmly believe matchlocks are not where we should be starting. If anything guns should come a few centuries after cannons which Humans are yet to even have.

There is a very large difference between Warhammer Fantasy (what you are referring to) and Warhammer 40k. Yes, Warhammer Fantasy has muskets but they are limited to certain races. (The Dwarves). I feel like what the above player (blackhand) said is the same way I feel. If the grand majority of the server doesn’t want a change as large as this.. as introducing guns would vastly change the way we can roleplay and such, then the changes shouldn’t be implemented. That’s just my two cents, I’m not attacking Harold but they should be a tad more precise in their arguments as Warhammer Fantasy and 40k are two entirely different things. 40k has space marines, Fantasy has Skaven, Lizardmen, Beastmen, among other various creatures. They are not related.

[laughs in this server isn’t wh40k, dungeons and dragons, or etc. etc.] That being said, if we are comparing other fantasy settings let’s keep something in mind. Warhammer 40k is set 39,000 years ahead of ourselves in our IRL timeline, so comparing Wh40k to this server is beyond ridiculous.

Flintlock weapons were horribly inaccurate and therefore I believe anything below a 15 should be a miss. I can agree with everything else in here though.

Why does it seem like the server gradually just goes down the actual history path. Why can’t we have someone who really really wants guns in the server to come up with a unique idea that fits in with the lore? This isn’t a historical RP server, it’s a fantasy RP server. I understand that yes, there needs to be some sort of technological progression but I think we’re at least a couple hundred years away from inventing guns in my opinion.
