  1. Hey folks! Today marks our third bi-weekly Staff Team meeting since we began doing them again and we've made headway with many decisions most of you are eager to hear about. Firstly we'll be starting with "The staff has unanimously warclaimed the Road Forts" Yes, you heard it right. Marking from this post's date this is a cease and desist to the 4 'Forts' that are constructed on the main road at the moment and a permanent ban on constructing fortresses designed for Player-Vs-Player combat. At this moment they are comprised solely of the following: n_roadplot1 | Owned by Vekrus n_roadplot2 | Owned by Goldrim n_roadplot7 | Owned by Lordbobby123 ("East Point") n_roadplot4 | Owned by jakesimonson These plots are expected to be changed from 'Fortresses' to something more appropriate for the main road within a week. Do keep in mind that what is a 'Fortress' is not explicitly stated but is up to the moderation team. Worry not however, for we have exciting news to those of you interested in PvP! The Badlands has been Confirmed! Yes, The staff team has decided to sponsor and construct a much anticipated 'Badlands' that is more combat focused than the rest of the server. There will be several powerful rewards for participating, and we hope that you will be as eager as we are for the release of this next piece of content! We're looking for your input on this one and may soon have a Your View put up on the development process that we will be undertaking to make this for you guys. Blacklists! ( D: ) These are never fun, but it's one that we've had to take. We'll be in the coming days implementing a Magic Blacklist that will work similarly to our Villainy Blacklist from earlier days. This is something we've felt that is a required step toward making the server better for players as a whole. War (Oh my!) With our recent addition of the code-named "Modern Warfare" Plugin, some of you may have noticed TnT and ladders were enabled during the most recent Warclaim and that was due to the aforementioned plugin. With this, we've created a /war command that will allow us to explicitly flag regions to enable agreed upon actions. What this means is: TNT can now be used within War [if accepted] Ladders can now be used within War [if accepted] Rewarding the pursuit of the Tinkerer profession further With this several red lines have to be drawn. Cannons are not accepted lore-wise, and so mechanically wise they are banned. TNT cannons or otherwise. If a warclaimed fortress is deemed by the Moderation Team to be 'Underground' the defenders cannot deny the aggressors the usage of TNT Capital WCs (in the case of a pillage/skirmish) can not be forced to TNT enabled without consent of both sides. Also another change: The cooldown on WC's is now determined not by a static amount but rather the GM team and the leadership of factions involved. Also some secret surprises for the future! That's all for now folks, enjoy your singles awareness day! - The Global Moderation Team
  2. Greener161: "And tomorrow is single awareness day" I support this statement.

  3. Hey folks! After a bit of discussion that started about two or three weeks ago we've reached a common conclusion on three brand new GMs that have been added to the team. They'll be serving out a trial period for a bit but expect them to be around to help you out! Please welcome the following to the team: Raelplayer | Raelplayer LolitaDoll | Dreaming Peacefully Kalamoot/PraiseTheSun | Kalameet
  4. Hello LotC! This is a post to announce a Staff Q&A on the LotC Teamspeak in ~2 hours or so. Pop by and listen while we answer some of your questions in person! Time: 6 PM EST, 11 PM GMT Location: ts.lordofthecraft.net Hope to see you there!
  5. Boatplanes are specifically and directly targeted by this change. No, you may NEVER use boats to enter an area outside of the water.
  6. Good Evening LotC! Today I am here to announce something that has been in effect for sometime but we failed to make it clear enough for most players to see, something of our own fault and so it's been a bit of a confusion on behalf of the staff team communicating with the playerbase. Mechanic standard has been for a little while repealed, being revoked and another alternative has been placed in it's steadfast. Mechanical Standard is what we base this new standard off of, but with some clear lines that were not present within the MechStandard System. This standard is dubbed the 'Common Sense' Standard, and as it says on the tin - it is largely based around what we (the staff & The Lore Team) believe to make appropriate sense while still leaving room for open innovation and clever mechanics. The motto of this standard is this: If you can do it in MC & in RP, do it. If you can do it in MC but not in RP, don't do it. The heavy emphasis is on this as well: If you can do it in MC but not in roleplay, do not attempt to write lore for it and then do it. These are the two major points of this standard. It is based off of mechstandard, but there are many red lines that are pretty easy to find if you use, as the tin suggests, 'Common Sense' Some major pointers: The list goes on, but to outline them all here is something of a feat of it's own - the ideal is that players will recognize red lines on their own and build off of it. If this, however, cannot be achieved a more concrete outlining will be formed.
  7. As per usual custom these threads are locked rather quickly as anything constructive should be handled in pms.
  8. If you are running a minecraft version earlier than 1.7.10 you will notice a lack of minecraft skins. This is due to how we handle character/roleplay names and if you do not desire to update for whatever reason you may circumvent it with the command /showmcnames
  9. I call your lie you fiend! Also, the way you left was rather extreme. I mean leaving is one thing, murdering every account you own violently is like... bravo!
  10. Update 2: The server is up and running as usual, and the mining world has been reset. Kowaman - Update: Due to human error by a staff member, the server will be rolled back a short time (~ 3 hours). We are also taking this opportunity to update our server management software, and regenerate the mining world, so downtime may be prolonged. Expect the server up within the hour. Howdy folks, making this post here to explain that we're experiencing some downtime for a little while. The return time is unknown but an unexpected difficulty suddenly became apparent that required immediate attention and is working to be fixed. The downtime may be an hour or it may be for the rest of the night, we apologize ahead of time for any plans that may have been ruined by this. Updates will be posted here as available, the Tech Team is working on the issue at the time of this post.
  11. Post is locked to avoid over-saturation with posts. As to the concerns with the area, the warclaim is being allowed but those attending must understand the Miasma (Damaging region) around it will NOT be removed for the warclaim. The Miasma exists roleplayly and will remain for some time (The exact time is shortly after the Citadel has had it's make-over). It might be possible to push through with holy magic, but such is for you to find out.
  12. Ok folks, this is being addressed now. Details may be discussed further VIA skype (These threads should really not allow replies as PMs/Skype messages are better) As of this moment in time this warclaim cannot go forward because of the upcoming warclaim on the undead occupied Hanseti/Ash Castle. This warclaim may be reposted after said battle, but until then no other warclaims upon undead areas may be filed. Thank you for your time and patience, and sorry for the inconveniences. Noting this as well, undead attacks from Angren can be retaliated against and should such happen a warclaim may be allowed - but as of this moment such has not happened, so this will be denied until another date.
  13. 1. Read above, answered a question about worlds and whatnot. Most likely separate planes rather than planets. As far as the void goes it is nothing, but everything. It's rather hard to explain why the void does what it does, another LM will have to address such. 2. The creator is a touchy entity that is... Seldom used. This is rather accurate. As far as it goes the creator is not some god-figure, merely an entity that seems to have spawned a rather strange universe. What it does now is unknown, where it is, if it's alive, etc. is completely unanswered and likely to remain that way. 3. Aenguls do not have to be good, and Daemons do not have to be evil. The reason most are presented that way is simple - Aenguls draw power from mortal faith and worship... how is an 'evil' aengul going to get a lot of people to worship it? Also keep in mind I use these terms rather loosely - there is no true 'evil' or 'good' divine, merely how they choose to approach situations with their best interest in mind. The opinions of mortals, however, do greatly matter to Aenguls so most will present themselves as 'holy, just, or divine' rather than vile and cruel.
  14. 1. For the most part Aenguls and Daemons are never measured in any form of measurement power-wise. They are compared to others of their race, but to compare a Aengudaemon to any mortal unit of measurement for magical capabilities is hard if not impossible. Aengudaemons are not equal in power either, with Arch-entities existing on either side and those who are more well known than others. 2. Yes... but you don't always have to 'worship' a aengul for it to draw power from a person, per say - sometimes even knowing they exist is enough, or sometimes by performing an action that one would not consider worship they are inadvertently doing so - such as burying the dead may be inadvertently worshiping some unknown aengul whose domain may be handling mortal husks into the afterlife or something (example, not actually real*)
  15. The celestial status of LotC's lore is one that is left something to a mystery - what is known is that there are several planes of existence that can house mortal kind. The first was Aegis which while large was never proven round, then the second plane of existence was The Verge/Asulon/Anthos. It was largely a sea world, travel was hard to do cross-continent, and land was few and far between. We transitioned eventually to this world now, which is somewhat of a mystery, in Thales & Athera. As far as space - I imagine there are places between planes that is what we might call 'space' - it is known as the void, and we draw magic from it.
  16. Basically a remake of the old thread to clean up old posts and make certain most information within is accurate and up to date. Current LMs as of this time: Cappy, Benboboy, 501warhead, Jistuma, Blundermore, SupremacyOps, Swordcoast95, Menarra/Dago, Everblue, Zarsies, and of course the glorious leader Rittsy/Alan. Ask away!
  17. At this time unknown. Most likely for a little while longer, but my guess is as good as yours. The issues seem like they should not take terribly long to resolve, although I may be mistaken.
  18. Just a quick post to give players some knowledge. We are at this moment having issues with Nexus that are being resolved rapidly at the time of this post - The server was brought down to amend these issues and we will be working toward a solution during this time. Updates will be posted here as they are available. UPDATE: The major issues seem to be resolved, and the server is online. If you run into a problem make a modreq ingame! Update 2: Server brought down again while another issue is being addressed UPDATE 3: Server online as of this morning, we know of several issues that may be present ingame and will work to resolve them on a case-by-case basis. See you ingame and happy roleplaying!
  19. Sorry for the issues folks, Still working on repairing nexus. Give us a moment!

Hey I got an idea, why not just remove nexus? [insert nexus is a flop joke here]

  20. Hey folks! 501warhead/Kalen here with a little bit of an address to the recent issues the server has been having. We've had a number of rollbacks within the past few days and so I'm here to inform you of what the current situation is (and that the time for panicking is not here yet) As of this post we've had a rollback of give or take 24 hours. This includes (as far as I am aware) anything within the world (chest contents, builds, etc.) and most likely other things that are saved externally (skills being the primary). Some of you may have noticed already why this was necessary, items being broken or duplicated within chests with massive land-scarring across the board. This probably comes as something of an upset to those of you who worked hard on projects in the last day or so, and for that we apologize. What you can be certain of, however, is that steps have been taken to prevent this from occurring again, eliminating the common problem that would cause this to happen to make the server smoother and to give you confidence that your work won't be in vain. If you are missing items you will most likely find them where you left them a day ago, waiting for you. As of now the server is live with this rollback, I hope to see you in-game and Happy Roleplaying! CLARIFICATION EDIT: This was a literal reload of an old save - we did not utilise Logblock to rollback the server before making it live
