Dutch efforts to create a tax haven within Europe appear to be off to a far better start than those of the United Kingdom. Several large business move their European headquarters from London or Paris and place them in Rotterdam, anxious to exploit the new tax havens.

- MODERATOR ACTIONS: The government is funneling money into military propaganda. They are specifically focusing on how Canada's military has a proud history of both combat and peacekeeping; the high wages and excellent pension plans; and how you can see the globe by joining the military. The hopes are that this increased propaganda will see a significant increase in recruitment.
Despite what many appear to believe, the taxation of marijuana and its legalization has a very minuscule impact on the Canadian economy. Instead, it actually appears to be hurting the youth of the nation as youth productivity and work force participation decline at a steady rate. Homelessness among young people has also been on the rise since the legalization of marijuana. The government of Canada would have to make a decision regarding the well-being of its people or of its coffers. This occurs similarly in the UNITED STATES.
The efforts to glorify the military generally do not go over poorly, however it does very little to inspire the populace to enlist with just a 3% increase in enlistments per month. Though a small number, it is a start, and these numbers should prove encouraging if they wish to continue such an effort.

Though the campaign sees very little success internationally, domestic support reaches a near frenzy as wealthy Chinese hope to gain prestige and favor among their government by investing varying sums of wealth into the project. Those lacking large amounts of wealth simply contribute to the well organized crowd-funding campaigns underway. The Chinese people, and the world, wait anxiously for the next great chapter in manned space flight, and the Chinese people cannot help but feel great pride in their country being the one to take this next bold step.

Such efforts worldwide have never gone over well and often end up as a bit of a punchline across the globe, however the Japanese appear to have struck a cord with their people and though one cannot see the results yet, there certainly is love in the air all across the home islands of Japan.

Military:
- Military task forces are dispatched to the northern side of the country. Bounties are offered on the head of any and every Boko Haram member.
- Nigeria wishes to join the middle eastern anti terror task force, due to its own issues with Boko Haram.
- Nigeria also is seeking for a foreign nation to assist in the complete overhaul of its military. 3 individual contracts are being offered, one for the construction of several pieces of aircraft, one for the construction of several amphibious assault vehicles, and aircraft carrier, and one for providing weaponry and armor to the armed forces. The United States, China, Russia, France, Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom are all requested to put in a bid for these high paying contracts, but any nation can do so.
- Nigeria calls upon all nations in ECOMOG (This is most West African Nations) to begin integrating their militaries into the body. The military organization acts as a major peacekeeping body in west Africa and has served the region well, carrying a good reputation in the region. The organization is currently mostly Nigerian dominated, but would change with integration. This integration would mean west Africa could act as one when combating terrorism, and pool resources together to fight any threats, and essentially bind them all in a strong defensive pact. - Research into a new, mobile infantry transport vehicle is to begin. The vehicle carries mostly light armaments and is designed to traverse harsh conditions across Africa with ease.
The several ECOWAS actions undertaken by the Nigerians are generally well received without a whole lot of skepticism from the governments of other ECOWAS nations, however the general public does express some fears about working with regional rivals and increased cooperation. The governments of Chad and Cameroon announce that they will hold referendums on such membership and will return with the results soon (after your next post).
The effectiveness and results earned by the new legislation can still not be definitively judged, and more time will have to be elapsed to see whether or not this legislation was effective.

Despite Switzerland's infamous neutrality, the president, Dietrich Morhart, has taken the hold of a new policy. While the public appreciates the support of the government in infrastructure and the like, they do not lose focus on the issue at hand: war. A widespread campaign supporting the war would almost certainly have to be held in order to justify it in the eyes of the Korean people. Meanwhile in the North, armament ramps up to new levels as the threat from the South increases.

Despite Switzerland's policy of neutrality, Dietrich was very supportive towards the European war on terrorism, and even sent a modest 1,000 troops to attack them. The people had another referendum on joining the EU, but the resolve was in favor of neutrality. Now, improving the banks and economic system is first on the agenda.

The nation is wealthy due to it's harbour of Rotterdam and the export over the major rivers of the Rhine and the Meuse. US Military bases dot the country, mostly in Okinawa, and their military only consisting of a neutered Self-Defense Force. They support many domestic companies that have gone on to innovate in the country, aiding in a period of huge economic growth in late 1900s. The country still includes an Imperial Family but they're completely distanced from political power and the main head of state is the Prime Minister of Japan. They have kept close relations with United States and other members of U.N but have foul relations with North Korea and China due to border disputes and constant threats. In addition to Japan suffering a slowly declining population.

Most of the German Political Parties that are successful are those that push for further European Intergration and wish to federalize the union further. Introduction
For the last two decades historians, journalists, and intellectuals have attempted to label the twenty-first century as one of both great promise, but also one filled with uncertainty. However, how could they make this label with only two decades, less than 50%, of time elapsed?What the future holds for the people of Earth, for its modern nation-states, remains unclear and no historian or intellectual can predict exactly what is to come. The global economy and geopolitical landscape both seem uncertain, straddling between the prospect of incredible success or catastrophic failure.
The nations of the world in 2018 must deal with a variety of complex issues, but a new generation has risen to tackle these issues with innovative solutions though their inexperience may prove to only harm their nation, not help it. Older generations, meanwhile, hope to help their country by utilizing past, successful methods and applying them to the problems of today. It is the responsibility of the leaders of these nations to weigh their options and choose what may be best for their country.
The Global Community
In 2017, an unprecedented global effort coordinated through the United Nations finally took a stand to global terrorism and announced a joint task-force to deal with terrorism and intervene in the Middle East to re-establish the status quo. After a broad coalition was formed consisting primarily of Russian, Chinese, and American troops (an unprecedented, maybe even unthinkable group), the U.N. ordered the immediate eradication of all ISIS operators and territory.
It was over in a month, the Islamic State ceased to exist. After their defeat, a volunteer corp of varying national identities took to occupying both Syria and Southern Iraq while a pro-U.N. state was established in Kurdistan. By the end of 2020, the United Nations hopes to have stabilized the region enough to reintroduce fair government in both Syria and Iraq, however what kind is still up for debate.
In the United States, President [I’ll let the U.S. player pick] has largely been inconsequential to American politics thus far with most of their actions blocked by the Congress or strongly opposed by the American people. The only thing anybody can agree on is the need to re-assert the strength of the United States either domestically or abroad.
Europe has seen an interesting shift in power as the European Union, without being held back by the United Kingdom, has pushed for even greater integration and Unification. The most adamant leaders in this effort are the liberal governments of both Germany and France though a great amount of opposition to such an effort has been met with scrutiny by the general public in Europe who still wish to maintain their national identities.
South East Asia and Africa continue along their path to incredible industrial development as states such as Nigeria, South Africa, and Vietnam experience incredible growth and improvements in general prosperity and standards of living. Of course the Indians and Chinese still dominate this sector and their economies continue to skyrocket despite doubts in regards to the Chinese real estate market which appears to be teetering on the brink of collapse.

The prospect of war in such a volatile market, one of incredible growth and optimism, was not well received by the people of Brazil; or the United Nations Security Council. Rather than respond with swift military force, the Argentines move to hold along the river that makes up most of the Brazilian border with explict orders not to fire unless fired upon by Brazilian forces. Meanwhile, destroyers are deployed to search for and destroy Brazilian submarines while the remainder of the fleet docks in friendly ports.
The Argentines move to the United Nations where they would protest the actions of the Brazilian government as illegal, and accuse the Brazilian government of war crimes against the people of Argentina by starting this conflict over nothing war-gaming.

Angola, threatened by the aspect of war refuses to join M.A.P and instead turns to ECOWAS as a possible ally in case the Brazilians are bold enough to attempt to cross the Atlantic.
Economic growth previously unrivaled except in India and China grinds to a halt as many Brazilian citizens fear recession or rationing as a result of the war and consumer good consumption plummets, especially in the provinces bordering Argentina. Small protests are held in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and Brasilia to protest the war and hopefully put an end to it before a significant amount of South American lives are lost.
The execution and careful planning of Desert Crescent allowed it to be an operation of resounding success as Boko Haram cells are systematically wiped from the northern regions of Nigeria and bordering states. As the terrorist group feels its influence fading and its lifespan slow trickling away, the group launches one massive, final act of terror before vanishing from existence from defeat. Multiple bombings occur simultaneously across the country as roughly 800 Nigerians lose their lives to these acts of terror. Most bombs are set off in large, soft targets such as shopping malls or along busy freeways with congested traffic. Though the losses are great, what the attack does signal is that Boko Haram is desperate and these acts are their last gasps of breath before life is choked from them.
In Chad and Cameroon, the funds invested by Nigeria, as well as general popular support for the alliance, lead to overwhelming results in both referendums in favor of joining ECOWAS. As a symbol of unity, Chad and Cameroon send a fair amount of economic aid to Nigeria following the terrorist attacks by Boko Haram as well as military support against the last few holdout cells.
In West Africa, the ECOWAS movement comes across as a force almost entirely for good and many countries voice their outright support for the program or desire to join. The attacks in Nigeria only strengthen these sentiments as many voices cry out in favor of "one strong, united West Africa." However Central Africa poses a different challenge with many opposing integration with the West. These sentiments are especially high in the Central African Republic, Congo, and D.R. Congo.
