Can we get a return to Anthos poll haha? Would like to see the community's general opinion on returning to the map as a potential next map.

Run conducted by the administration. Also, if there were a way to volunteer for it that would be cool because I know there's a fair amount of us who were around then and could probably contribute a lot in the form of ruins and lore and what not.

  2. The problem with doing Tahn alone (and please don't take this as a knock on the Dwarves or Oren), is that it has for the most part been swallowed up under the influences of the Humans and Dwarves. For the remaining races to move and settle there, you'd essentially have to carve land out of those two racial nations which will inevitably cause problems. If we're going to try to centralize roleplay, then we might as well develop a nice new map (or a re-furbished old one).

Would just prefer if instead of going to a new map, we would just sail back to an island we have already been to like Asulon and Anthos.

This. Anthos, like somebody said, would realistically have drained itself some time ago. I think it'd be interesting to go back and sort of see giant ruins of our past. If we want to avoid literally copy/pasting Anthos, we use the flood as a reason to sort of re-shape the map in a way that makes it feel slightly different.

  4. Somewhere; Drokon smiles upon hearing whispers of Moreg's renewed efforts to revive the clan. He had chosen Moreg for this task because he saw a sort of dedication in him which none of the other Ugluks possessed, for he stayed when others left. With what materials he could scavenge, he wrote a small note to the young Orc and sent it off with a courier - a rare trespass back into civilization for the Orc.

    "Moreg,

I wish you the best on your journey to restore the clan. Know that I may never aid you in your quest to restore the clan, for the sins of my bloodline will always taint the role of Wargoth. Instead, new blood like yourself must bring the clan back to greatness. Perhaps one day we may meet again.

  5. Dozens of Orcs are woken up late in the evening to the sound of thunderous stone on wood action as goblins begin to hammer up bulletins all over San’Garath. The following morning, it would be discovered that as many as 30 bulletins have been littered all over the city making them very difficult to miss. They would read as follows:

[!] IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE YAZGURTAN [!]

A roll call of professions is needed in order to properly organize Orcs into designated worker sects. From this roll call, the Yazgurtan will assign you with another Orc with whom you will work toward a bi-weekly goal through which one will earn payment.

If one does not yet have a profession, here are a list of CRITICAL workers needed for Krugmar as of the reformation:

    - LEATHERWORKERS

    - BLACKSMITHS

    - LEATHERWORKERS!

    - MINERS

    - LUMBERJACKS

    - ENCHANTERS

    - ALCHEMISTS

    - TINKERERS

Simply leave a written message on one of these bulletins with your name and profession OR desired profession, as well as your proficiency.

  7. Prelude
The Isle of Asul - a cruel, punishing land that only the strongest of descendants could have colonized. Those who braved the challenge of this unforgiving isle helped forge great settlements in the early months of the Fifth Great Migration. One of these hardened races, the Orcs, constructed a vibrant city in the center of one of Asul’s many great jungles, the city of San’Garath. As the city grew and the population once again began to increase, the desire to explore the lands outside the jungle grew and soon many Orcs were clamoring for an expedition.

    ---
    San’Garath - 8th of the Grand Harvest
A young goblin, Mrakal, entered the Ugleh Bull Tavern exhausted on the evening of the 8th of the Grand Harvest expecting nothing but to grab a drink from the Elven hostess and head back into his home for the night, ready to repeat the monotonous days’ work in the morning. What he found was far different. Assembled in the center of the tavern, four other Orcs stood anxiously around one another each holding a massive sack over their shoulders filled to the brim with food and other provisions. Standing at the head of the group was Drokon of the Clan Ugluk, a younger Orc whose reputation as an adventurer was rather well known.

“Oi, goblin!” The Orc smiled, looking over to Mrakal, “You want to join us? We’re headin’ out to do some exploring.” A particular excitement could be heard in the Orc’s voice, his head held high with enthusiasm.

Behind him stood 3 other Orcs, each unique in their appearance. Directly aside of Drokon stood Nurena, a renowned shaman of the clan Yar, dressed in exotic furs she had recently acquired through other journeys with Drokon into the various Isles. Behind Nurena stood Yuglix also of the Clan Yar. Although slightly older than Drokon, the Orc lacked the experience in expeditions like these that Drokon had and as such, the Orc was incredibly anxious to make this journey - the first that he would ever embark upon. Near the bar, a much older Orc stood chugging down two massive mugs of Dwarven Stout, his face stern with anxiety about the coming drip. This was Jukha’Lur, a ferocious warrior and a fiercely loyal soldier who had a tendency to get tense before an engagement, or in this case, an expedition.

Mrakal looked between the group of Orcs, examining each of them one by one, recognizing them all by either first or second hand experience. After a moment of contemplation, the Goblin replied, “Yub, I will join you. Where we headed?” Before the goblin could even finish this sentence though, the goblin was nearly thrown to the ground by a massive pack full of provisions being thrown his way.

“There’s rumors of something big beyond the lands of Haria. A massive, ancient structure. I want to know what it is.” Drokon grinned, sheathing his sword after finishing inspecting it one final time.

Nurena continued, “I’ve seen ancient structures littered throughout the jungle, I can only imagine what lies deeper inland. Whoever was around before us left a lot to explore.” She expressed a particular enthusiasm, her staff glowing with energy as they prepared to leave.

Mrakal tilted his head, his curiosity and imagination running wild with images of great adventure dancing in his mind. “This am bub’hosh.” The goblin beamed, lifting his pack overtop his shoulder, “When do we leave?”

Somewhere between the Dreadlands and Haria - 11th of The Grand Harvest

After three days of near constant trekking with sleep coming in bunches of 2 or 3 hours, the Orcs stopped at the edge of a massive forest. Gigantic mushrooms loomed over the horizon, familiar sights to some of the Orcs who could remember such sights in Athera or even Anthos, but for Drokon the sight was completely new.

“What am that?” The young Orc asked, pointing into the massive forest of both mushrooms and trees. The massive rounded tops casting a long shadow, the shadow in which the Orcs were camped.

“It’s a mushroom, dumbskah.” Yuglix grunted, mocking the younger Orc’s inexperience. “Lat know, the things that we make soup out of?”

Drokon snickered, glaring at the Yar. “Of course it am, stupid! I mean, why am it so big?” Drokon looked up in awe at the towering shroom, shaking his head, “How does it even get that big?”  The elder Lur looked to Drokon, laughing at his childish wonder.

“They say dumbskahs like lat turn into those when they die. Lat head grows so big in death that it becomes a giant mushroom.” Jukha joked, looking up at the massive mushroom with a wide grin, satisified with his joke.

Drokon, unamused, shook his head and grabbed his things, putting his bag back “Skah lats, I’m moving forward.” The Orc snarled angrily, marching forward into the forest without much care for his wellbeing.

Not too much later, the Orc returned to group his face flushed with shock. “Bruddahs… lat will nub believe what me just saw, a giant Bunny Rabbit, the size of a gobo,” the Orc points to Mrakal, “And it just sat there, staring at me. I tried to strike it, but it was unkillable. My sword couldn’t even cut it’s fur!” The Orc held up his sword, the metal actually bent from slashing against the unbreakable bunny. The other Orcs assembled around Drokon, each taking a turn examining the now broken blade. Needless to say the Orcs slept with one eye open that night in the forest, fearing for their lives that the unkillable bunny rabit would make them their latest meal. Luckily, rabbits only eat grass.

The Port Town of Haria - 13th of The Grand Harvest
After another two days of meandering through the dense forests of Asul, the Orcs emerged at the beautiful town of Haria. Resting at the edge of an estuary, the town featured unique geographical features however the most striking part of the town was of course the great Colossus. With legs striding either side of the Haria’s harbor, any ship entering the port would surely be awestruck just as the Orcs were when entering the city from behind, the massive arm of the Colossus pointing out over the treeline.

    UtxorGp.png

In Haria, the Orcs took residence in the local tavern for the evening before setting sail for their final destination in the morning. It was here that, after spending the evening in a private room with Drokon, Nurena decided to not continue the journey. The night of the 13th had worn on her and her legs were far too tired to complete the journey.

During their stay in Haria, the Orcs met a friendly man wearing a pumpkin over his head who offered to show them around the beautiful city. Impressed by the complexity and intricacy of the town, the Orcs enjoyed their brief time back in civilization before setting sail to the mysterious structure not much further off the coast.

Mystery Island - 14th of The Grand Harvest
After ‘borrowing’ two long canoes from a home along Haria’s port, the remaining four Orcs - Mrakal, Jukhal, Yuglix, and Drokon - rowed steadily toward a looming structure in the distance. Nearly equal in height to the Colossus, the structure probably tripled that size in width. The stone was incredibly old with thick moss clinging to sides of many of the buildings’ towers. The group of Orcs looked up at the towers in awe, unsure of what exactly they were looking at. The ancient structure pierced even the dense clouds overhead, and the very ground it was built on seemed to be artificial as well, covered in stones and other oddities. After recovering from the initial shock of the wondrous building, the Orcs set to work on finding an entrance to the castle.

    v1n4u7R.png

For hours the Orcs searched for an entrance with no luck. In their first attempt to break in, the goblin Mrakal slipped through a structural failure, mostly due to his smaller goblin frame, only to find a dead end with no way t get the rest of the Orcs into the building. After a few more hours of tireless searching, the Orcs, frustrated and out of options, gathered their weapons and marched back to the front gate. They tore at the ancient wood and iron gates, cutting the gates down after about half an hour of near constant pressure upon the old structure. Exhausted, the Orcs finally marched into the castle - unprepared for what they were about to face.

    gg8W9w4.png

Nearly as soon as the gates fell, the ground beneath them began to shake and the sound of terrible moans and rumbles could be heard emitting from the center of the castle’s courtyard. Jukha spotted the beast first - a 19 foot tall hideous cyclops with a single eye. The Orcs dashed through the courtyard into a connecting pathway to try to circumvent the beast, but just as Drokon was about to reach the pathway a dagger dropped from his belt, rattling against the stone and stirring the beast.

“WHO DARE INVADE THE HOME OF CLUGOR?” The beast roared, uprooting a nearby tree in a single swipe and effortlessly removing some of the branches to form a massive club. Soon the beast was marching about the courtyard determined to find the Orcish invaders.

As the cyclops searched tirelessly for the Orcs, the four warrior set forth on making a plan to defeat the beast.

    IXCWmYi.png

“Me will distract the beast,” volunteered Mrakal, the smallest and quickest of the group. The others spent a moment praising his bravery, then offered the goblin arms to help fend off the beast. Yuglix’Yar offered to help protect the goblin and in turn suited up, headbutting the goblin as a sign of both respect and assurance.

Inspired by the courage of the smallest member of their group, Drokon and Jukhal both volunteered to attack the beast by leaping from the air. Ultimately Drokon was chosen to do so as he was a bit smaller in frame and more capable of successfully executing such a blow. It was decided then that Jukhal would take position across one of the many raised archways within the complex and attempt to successfully heave a spear, plunging it into the beast.

As dusk settled over the building and the sun began to drop over the castle’s massive towers, the Orcs began to execute their plan. First, the Mrakal launched himself forward, hollering at the beast to get its attention. Once Clugor had turned away from the entryway of the East courtyard, Yuglix entered the yard as well, slashing somewhat meaninglessly at the beast’s thick ankles and calves. This went on for about a minute before Drokon shouted from the Northern archway, raising a lit torch in his right hand. With an incredible roar and an ear shattering scream of “GLOZUG VOTAR” the entire courtyard was aflame with the fire from the torch.

    mTytu67.png

An ear splitting whistle soon rang out through the courtyard, the signal for Jukha to let loose his spear. Tensing up, the Lur channeled the legacy of his ancestors and brought back his right arm. With a grunt, the Orc heaved the heavy spear straight toward Clugor landing a direct hit straight into the cyclop’s single eye.

As the beast stumbled clumsily about the courtyard, its feet burning and legs bloody from constant harassment from the two Orcs below, Drokon lept from the Northern archway down onto the beast, managing to barely catch hold of Clugor’s left ear. With a final, tired effort the Orc drove his blade into the earhole of the monster, finally bringing it to its knees.

With the cyclops on the ground, the Orcs pounced onto the back of the beast, mercilessly cutting apart the beast both for trophies and to ensure that the beast was actually dead. Several trophies were acquired, though at the expense of some serious injuries to the Orcs. Mrakal barely escaped death, his leg being crushed by the massive beast. Drokon broke several ribs in the engagement and struggled to make the journey back to Haria, where he was later healed.

Country Selected: Zimbabwe, now known as the Empire of Rhodes (Rhodesia)

Nation Leader: Field Marshall Ian Smith

Demonstrate Understanding of Nation (Bio/Facts/Info): As the Zimbabweans starved to death under the poor administration of Mugabe, the whites which had fled the country under his rule began to return. Having seen the abhorrent conditions faced by whites in South Africa, and witnessing the destruction of formerly great nations, many whites returned to the failing nation. Many who could trace their roots back to the former nation of Rhodesia returned to find links to their past, bringing with them the wealth earned from countries such as America and Australia. Many former residents of South Africa that fled from the persecution faced also returned to take advantage of the unstable government.

The whites gathered under a singular idea, and began to institute their ideal of a great nation under white direction, and to seek revenge for the wrongs of recent times by the likes of Mugabe and Nelson Mandela's forces during his insurgency. With this, they established a new government, and using their greater education and funds, began a relatively successful insurgence.

The Mugabe regime, which was already struggling with civil unrest as the starving black population rioted for food, was quickly dismantled by the well-led, well organised and better equipped white forces. Many blacks, forgetting the oppression of the apartheid and remembering the days when they ate well under white leadership, followed the whites. The revolution grew and by Christmas of 2016, had all but seized control of the nation.

A form of military totalitarianism ruled the state in a form similar to fascism, although the states of the nation were governed by a form of oligarchic council, of which only white people could be elected to. These councils would handle everything on a state level, and often would form tight-knit regiments of locals. The rapid take-over and efficient and often brutal enforcement of a stable government stopped following uprisings from taking place as blacks were relegated to second class citizens.

A year passed as the nation regained its footing, establishing itself properly and fixing any internal strife. Under the new, efficient lead of the new white leaders, modernisation took over, as more efficient farming techniques were employed. The formerly starving blacks now ate enough to fill their bellies, as the economy was reset with a new currency, the Rhodesian pound, the GDP based around agriculture but was being fed by a budding industrial power.

Seeking a sea connection, however, and wanting to test their new system of military, the new Rhodesia decided to build its empire, and launched an attack on the neighbouring Mozambique. Following three months of harsh fighting and popular underground support of the new power in the region, three Mozambique provinces were seized (Manica, Sofala, Inhambane). The newly established Empire of Rhodes established regional governments with Mozambique representation as an armistice was signed. Officially, the two countries are currently at war, as the Mozambique people are resettled to other parts of the nation in an attempt to stifle any unrest. Migration to the newly seized regions was encouraged.
