From the Archives of the National Library at Madinat Amal The Caliphate of Abdullah al-Mansur: Geography & History Volume I Chapter III: The Home World, Amal An enhanced image of the desert world of Amal taken by the Harun Satellite, circa. 2144 Overview Settled in 2143, Amal acts as the cradle of Eadni civilization after The Calamity. A world covered mostly in vast deserts and savannas, the planet proves remarkably reminiscent of that first cradle of the Eadni, Arabia. Upon arrival vast ecological and geographic surveys began in order to better understand the new capital of the Caliphate. The results of these surveys proved incredibly promising, yielding an extensive amount of natural resources that ensured prosperity during the early years of Eadni settlement. Though Eadni are spread out across the planet in small settlements, two major metropolises act as the seat of culture and civilization. Madinat Amal serves as the beating heart of the Caliphate. From this city, the Caliph and the Mutamar issue the laws of the Caliphate and declare the policies that inevitably bring about prosperity to the people. The city is located in the heart of the continent of Al Arabiya Al Kabira and is straddled on either side by two rivers, the Kamal and the Al’Noor. Across the vast Al Muhit al Hadi Al Jadida on the continent of Harara, one finds the cultural center of the Caliphate, Al Jeddah. The more populous of the two cities, Al Jeddah sits on the coast and acts as the commercial capital of the Caliphate on Amal as well. Just beyond the city limits, one can begin to see the faint shadow of the massive Jabil Mudhhila mountain range. The range effectively separates the connected continents of Harara and Medinati, rising thousands of feet into the air. The mountains prove an incredibly popular tourist destination where thousands flock for skiing throughout the year. In orbit above the homeworld, two large structures currently dominate the skies of Amal. The Grand Shipyard of the Caliphate employees thousands of workers and affords the Reformed Navy of The Caliphate with production capabilities unlike anything the previous regime might have conceived. It’s size and scale, at least according to pre-Calamity records, prove unmatched among other known human civilizations. To protect that shipyard and the homeworld itself, the second structure, Shajarat Eadni Al Jadida, provides massive firing support against incoming threats. Continents - Al Arabiya Al Kabira - Harara - Medinati Oceans - Al Muhit al Hadi al Jadida - Al Atlasiu al Jadida - Janub Al Muhit - Al Muhit Al Shamaliu Major Cities - Madinat Amal [Capital] - Al Jeddah Population [!] Somebody seems to have crossed this part out, it is unintelligible!

Lieutenant Hussein al Noor strode rapidly down the dull grey corridor, in his left hand he carried his sharp white officer’s cap while in his right he carried a schematic of the newest capital ship bound for service in the Reformed Navy of The Caliphate. Arriving at a set of massive metal doors bearing the insignia of the new naval hierarchy, the Lieutenant paused and took a deep breath, relaxing his body before stepping into the meeting. As the doors opened before him, a grey-haired man with a dark complexion rose to meet him. Dressed in the standard work attire of the Prophet’s Legion, Hussein couldn’t help but admire those fine suits designed so meticulously for the new vanguard of the Caliphate. “Lieutenant al Noor! Assalamu alaikum, aki.” The old man beams at the young officer, straightening his khaki shirt as he stands. He beckons Hussein into the white room, the walls pristine and covered with Quranic verses and proverbs of strength. Behind the General’s desk, a wide open window peers over the massive shipyard facility orbiting the planet Amal. “Tafaddal, tafaddal Hussein. We’ve much to discuss this afternoon.” Hussein bows his head respectfully, slowly lowering himself into the chair before the General’s desk. The general himself does not sit down, instead walking to the window overlooking the shipyard. Shifting uncomfortably in his seat, Hussein thinks quickly of something to say to lighten the mood of the room. “General Idafa, your new office certainly has quite the view sir.” “It does indeed, doesn’t it Hussein? A good place to oversee the construction of our new fleet." General Idafa smiles, watching drones circle the massive outer hull of the newest battleship of R.N.C., the Hayreddin Barbarossa. “You know Hussein, in the old regime, the first Hayreddin Barbarossa was commanded by your father?” Hussein flinched a bit at the comment, for most of his life he’d been attempting to escape the shadow of his father. First at the academy, then in the fleet… he couldn’t help but wonder if it wasn’t his last name that helped him survive those brutal purges after the exodus. “I do, General Idafa. He died a warrior's death against the Karass insurgents, inshallah.” Hussein let out a half-hearted smile, placing his cap on the desk in front of him. He relaxed in his seat, watching the General as he sank back into his seat with a smile. “Your father was a hero, Lieutenant. He led us in our first wars and never tasted defeat. He was the best of us in those early days. He knew the potential that Eadn had and believed in the Sultan’s cause wholeheartedly. It’s a shame, perhaps if we had him at Utopie…” The General shakes his head then waves his hand dismissively. “Enough about the old world. We have a new one to worry about.” Hussein nods, leaning forward in his chair to listen to General Idafa. “I’ve got an assignment for you, Hussein. Since the purges, the staff for this particular project has been… shorthanded.” Hussein tilts his head a bit, clearly interested. His mind drifts back for a moment to those days immediately after the Exodus - the execution of the Sultan, the eradication of any other Earth-Borns, the installation of the Caliph… it all happened so suddenly. “Hussein? Are you listening?” “Na’am, General.” Hussein snaps back to attention, looking to the General as he describes the project he’s joining in great detail. At the conclusion of the meeting, Hussein rises from his chair with a smirk. Shaking General Idafa’s hand and bowing, the Lieutenant marches out of the meeting confidently, ready to take his place among the heroes of the new Caliphate.
  3. September 11th, 2021 In December of 1991, the Cold War ended with the formal dissolution of the Soviet Union. For about a year prior, most understood that the Soviets had been defeated, and on January 29th, 1991, American President George Bush declared a “new world order” in which America guided the world toward freedom, democracy, and most importantly, peace. For the remainder of the twentieth century, the United States thrived and swiftly dealt with challenges to that new authority - notably during the First Gulf War. What first appeared as idealistic talk by President Bush seemed to actually be the new global status quo, the world kowtowed to the United States of America. Then out of the clear blue sky on September 11th, 2001, twenty years ago, America’s new world order dissolved as a faceless enemy ripped away that comfort and security felt by so many in the United States and the West. This attack unleashed a pandora’s box of chaos as the United States lashed out in a merciless and controversial War on Terror, suffering tremendous loss of both credibility and, more critically, wealth. Combined with the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, the United States suffered terribly. A rapidly declining United States provided opportunity for its once dormant enemies to plot against it and for new powers to arise on the world stage. North Korea and Iran developed nuclear weapons despite the protests of the Americans who failed to act decisively in either case to prevent crisis. A resurgent Russia challenged and continues to challenge the West in Eastern Europe, pushing back against NATO encroachment in a fervent effort to regain its buffer states. In the East, China and India both experienced booming economies as businesses all over the world invested heavily in these areas (and those governments acted extremely competently in taking advantage of those investments, and virtuously in their own policies) in an effort to access these potentially massive markets. The 2010s drove the nail through the coffin of a world order led by the hegemony of the United States as insurmountable difficulties at home and surprising, bold moves by foreign actors completely dismantled that dream once and for all. In Spain, the Republic of Catalonia successfully seceded from Spain as a result of a fatal miscalculation on the behalf of the Spanish government. Several Catalan leaders lost their lives under mysterious circumstances, igniting a huge wave of popular support for an independent Catalonia. Stepping in before a proper Civil War, the European Union stepped in to urge Spain to release the republic in order to preserve peace on the continent. Spain conceded, however the decision has awoken nationalist sentiments across Spain and, combined with a resurging economy, threatens to endanger peace on the continent. Additionally, more secessionist movements in Italy and France threaten to upend the status quo in Western Europe, a region that has more or less experienced peace since the end of the Second World War. The later end of the 2010s also saw the final days of the North Korean regime as a result of its own misdoing. The North Koreans launched a massive cyber attack on the United States, crippling its economy and plummeting global markets (leading to the Great Recession of 2019). China, who for so long protected the Hermit Kingdom, suffered tremendously from the economic impacts of this decision and punished the North Koreans accordingly. They agreed to a treaty, in secret, with the United States not long after the attack to destroy the North Korean regime on the promise that American forces would withdraw from Korea and Japan once the regime fell. Prior to the attack, America would have asserted that American forces must remain on the continent, but desperate to preserve America’s imagine on the world stage and show that such attacks could not go unpunished, the United States agreed and, along with Japan and South Korea, destroyed the Kim regime. America, wary of upsetting China, honored their end of the agreement and the United States military withdraw formally from the Pacific for the first time since before the acquisition of the Philippines in the Spanish-American War. Korea continues to struggle to unify the agrarian, culture-shocked nation of the North with its highly modern, urban population in the South and the devastation brought about by the war only makes matters worse. The only conclusions that one can draw from the conflict is that it was a massive victory, not for the United States or the now unified Korean Republic, but for the People’s Republic of China as it has now successfully driven the United States out of the Pacific and established dominance in the region. Economic System and Technology Tiers In Nightfall 2, the economy of your country and actions you make are contingent on Action Points (AP). In order to build up your army or navy, research new technology, or invest in your economy, you will need to utilize those Action Points. One begins the game with 5 Action Points, and one grows action points by growing their GDP. Though not necessarily realistic, all nations begin with a GDP of One Trillion Dollars USD. To increase the number of AP per turn by 1, one must grow GDP by an additional Two-Hundred billion in USD. This can be done passively in ten turns with base growth of Twenty Billion USD per turn, or through investment. If one wants to increase that passive growth, one can invest 10 AP into the economy [in the form of academics, industry, or commerce] to gain an additional Ten Billion USD per turn. One may also increase AP through other means, as observed in the below chart. To provide clarity on economic AP growth, here's an example Vietnam (and every nation) begins with base growth of $20 Billion per turn with a base GDP of $1 Trillion. This gives them a base of 5 AP. In order to grow, they need to increase GDP by $200 Billion for a total of $1.2 Trillion. This can be done in ten turns, passively gaining $20 Billion per turn, OR, assuming no events or conquest, they can invest in economic growth to speed up that process. Once Vietnam invests 10 AP into its economy, it gains a boost to its base growth of GDP, meaning they now gain $30 Billion per turn. Economic investment in Nightfall 2 is very important. Just nothing absurd right off the bat, RP repairing relations at least if historically you’ve been enemies (ie. US & Cuba or something). - “Investment” that contributes toward AP growth is an umbrella for whatever non-research, non-military kind of projects you want to conduct this is included, but not limited to: → Economic Development → Infrastructure → Construction/Urban Development → Humanitarian aid/intervention (in some cases…) → Space Programs (w/ non-military intent) → anything related to the economy in some consequential way *Note, I may tell you that an AP value doesn’t count toward Investment. If that’s the case, since it’s rather unclear right now (11/4), I’ll allow you to re-allocate AP if you want to invest. Ie. I’m not sure if I’m going to allow ‘repairing relations with rebels’ to count toward investment in some developing countries. You’ll still need to spend AP on that stuff, just may not count toward investment. Gametime decision. - Trade between players for Growth is capped at 1 for an extra boost - Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. The Hellenic Republic Economy: 4/10 to Growth AP: 5 per turn GDP: 1.06 Trillion After nearly two decades of civil unrest and a political crisis unparalleled in modern Europe, the Hellenic Republic emerged tired and reluctant to continue to have any relevance on the world stage. Clashes between the left and right in the political realm often poured into the streets as violent factions rose on both sides, brutalizing one another and bringing the nation to the brink of civil war. Despite the best efforts of the European Union, the crises seemed doomed to escalate and the Greek question would require a Greek answer. Enter Nikolaos Theodosios. A middle-aged retired Greek naval officer educated in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Nikolaos spent his formative years after his time at the university in the United States where he became enamored with the likes of George Washington and Alexander Hamilton, men whom he revered for their tremendous sense of honor. Washington especially caught the eye of the then young Nikolaos as he studied the way in which the founding father of America, who at any time might have seized unlimited power as a dictator, so humbly surrendered that power for an idea far greater than himself. After retiring from the Greek Navy in 2017, Nikolaos entered into public service as a politician, taking after the ancients, Nikolaos began preaching in the public squares of Athens and then uploaded those speeches to YouTube, Facebook, and whatever other social media websites he could get his hands on. One of the few preachers of a truly balanced, Republican form of government remaining in Greece, thousands of people began to follow and admire the retired officer. Forming a new political party, the Federalists, Nikolaos began to recruit and train disciples in the art of a Republican government and the importance of such in Greece. By the elections of 2021, Nikolaos and the Federalists managed to win almost 34% of the vote, establishing a center-right coalition and placing Nikolaos at the head of their government. Now Prime Minister, Nikolaos made it his duty to follow in the footsteps of those American political figures he admired and bring prosperity and freedom to Greece, pushing out the forces of both the far-right and far-left. [3 AP] If Nikolaos and the Federalists want to hold on to their power, they would have to make sure the economy was stable and moving in the right direction, otherwise, their efforts would be for nothing. A large portion of the budget is committed to paying down their debt as the Greek government attempts to generate funds by selling off en mass its military equipment to whoever might be interested. A large portion of the fleet is mothballed, torn apart, and sold for scrap. Aside from that, the army is trimmed from 160,000 active duty soldiers to 100,000, placing the remaining 60,000 in reserve [many of whom are subsequently employed to aid in the deconstruction of the fleet]. Aside from that, free trade is encouraged and what subsidies can be made out are made out to small businesses and struggling farmers, hoping to strengthen the employers of Greece and get more people back to work. The Federalists manage to pass into law a bill that requires the Parliament to pass a balanced budget, an attempt to keep the debt from growing. Small Greek islands are also sold off to private billionaires in an effort to generate more revenue. [2 AP] A constitutional convention is called for by Nikolaos and the Federalists, their goal, Nikolaos states, is to establish a new system of Republican government in the model of the United States. A true separation of powers, real checks and balances, and a constitution that truly guarantees the rights of men are among the things the Federalists desire. Many of these ideas have popular support among the Greek people, however there are still very powerful radical elements in the Greek government that would like to see Greece devolve into Oligarchy or Despotism. The convention will be held in Athens. TRADE REQUESTS ARE SENT TO ALBANIA, ITALY, GERMANY, and FRANCE.

  7. [RP Thread] Nightfall II

2022 - The Year in Review United Kingdom In regards to the Moroccan Affair, humanitarian aid to rebellious Western Sahara groups is greatly appreciated by those rebels, and their morale increases as they fight for independence. The West Saharans petition the British government for aid in the form of military equipment, or otherwise to host peace talks with Morocco to allow them to gain their independence from the North African state. UK anti-terror activities against Hezbollah see a varying degree of success, too often ending up doing damage to non-military targets and wounding the reputation of the Lebanese government as a whole. If Lebanon wants to clean up Hezbollah, it will be a fight it will have to wage with its own boots on its own soil. Development of the Sea-Hawk continues, though it’s a long ways away from achieving the long-term goal of sustained flight over the ocean for incredibly long periods of time. This would require significant investment into a new generation of batteries capable of powering such a craft. The development and strengthening of commerce in the form of tax relief to private corporations would do quite a bit to encourage a rise in British markets and consumer confidence. With a slashing of corporate taxes in Britain, domestic countries begin to repatriate their money from offshore accounts and banks, bringing in more tax revenue for the government as a whole. Foreign companies, especially American corporations, growing and in search of European headquarters, now view London as an attractive place to establish a foothold in Europe. [+4 toward Growth] Communist State of Cuba The Cuban economy continues to flourish under the new and considerably more open reforms undertaken by the new regime. Many small businesses grow out of the new market-focused economy, and government subsidies go a long way in allowing these businesses to establish themselves and compete with growing foreign competition. Where locals are losing however, is in the luxury hotel business. Dozens of foreign investors look toward Cuba to open massive resorts, a boon for the local economy but damaging to smaller, family run spots that dominated the island for years. Regardless, more work and more business is good, at least for now, for the Cubans. [+5 toward Growth] Deutsches Kaiserreich The United States accepts the offer to join the talks, though encourages a mostly European solution. In response to Indonesian aggression, Singapore accepts the offer of military aid from Germany. By the end of the year, the German ships arrive and dock in Singapore without issue. The troops are welcomed and housed in relatively comfortable lodgings near their ships. The Singaporean military offers to conduct some joint exercises as well. The Singapore Navy also conducts exercises with the German navy in the Straits of Malacca, warning the Indonesians outright that their small but very modern navy is not to be trifled with. By the end of the year, very little progress has been made on fusion energy and no new innovations have been made. A very promising source of energy though, there is plenty of reason to keep pushing at such a powerful energy source even if it will take significant investment. Infrastructure projects put low-skilled labor to work and the economy, for the most part, continues a trend of upward growth. [+2 toward Growth] Unfortunately, “The World of Bismarck” makes a rather lackluster debut with many criticizing it for its overt nationalistic and militaristic tones. The Abweher, under Minister Müller, establishes a headquarters in Frankfurt where it begins conducting operations at the discretion of the Kaiser. 2nd Federal Republic of Austria More investment into renewing Austrian infrastructure allows the Austrian government to sustain and efficiently distribute the increasingly abundant energy generated domestically. It quickly becomes apparent that there is excess, and across the border in Hungary, where energy is becoming increasingly expensive due to an outdated power grid, there is interest in bringing in the Austrians to help them modernize [Encounter w/ Hungary][+2 toward Growth]. With the additional investment into Austrian health-care, several once underfunded and struggling hospitals in more rural areas of Austria are capable of purchasing modern equipment that allows them to take better care of their patients. Consequently, Krainzmeier becomes substantially more popular with medical professionals, given that their wages have increased as a result of less strain on the system. Similar to efforts elsewhere, no significant breakthroughs are made in the field of Fusion energy this year. A very powerful source of energy with unlimited potential, physicists and engineers press the government to continue funding their efforts despite the lack of any substantial breakthroughs. Syria Reconstruction efforts go a long way to restore some sense of normalcy in a Syria devastated by almost a decade of brutal civil war, waged largely at their expense for the gain of foreign interests. Using the military as the chief supplier of aid proves a brilliant strategy on the part of the Assad regime, for until this point, especially in formerly rebel-held towns, the military was seen as a negative entity. Allowing these people to put faces and experiences to their interactions with these soldiers at least provides some comfort and healing. Still a long ways off from completion, an astounding amount of work has been done to clear up the rubble in even the most devastated of towns. Admiring their relief efforts, and offering to find some good standing in the Middle East [and, subtly trying to gain influence there], India offers to send its military forces and invest into the region, should Syria allow them and be interested in the deal [Encounter w/ India, on Skype][+5 toward Growth]. With limited resources during Reconstruction, the falconry classes are not as widespread as the government hopes, but where they do get off the ground they do a lot of good in establishing a sense of community for young men. Establishing new schools also helps to bring the Syrian youth a sense of normalcy post-war. Like the Reconstruction effort, using military personnel in these efforts helps the Syrian army with its reputation. Only about 50% of Reserve personnel report, the rest having either fled Syria, or for the time being, no longer wishing to serve in the armed forces and hiding from service. Jordan accepts the offer of an alliance. These bases need to be funded. No bases are constructed this turn [require AP]. Egypt The funding and resources begin making their way to the Syrian government, and next year the Assad premiership will be able to utilise them. [+2 AP for Syria next turn] Continued efforts to improve Egyptian industry and infrastructure proceed well enough. The trend of industrial growth started last year is compounded upon, and the further modernisation of Egyptian roads and rails does good for business and employment. The military’s distribution of food and assistance in the aforementioned government projects facilitates this, and though there is some minor dissent in the military about being forced to do public works while tensions with Israel build, on the whole it does have the desired effect of promoting national unity. [+3 toward growth] The humanitarian projects in both the Democratic Republic of Congo and Syria have the best intentions, and the Egyptian men and women sent are able to do some education and minor assistance. However, without the necessary resources [AP], very little is actually improved in either nation, and it is largely seen as a bit of an embarrassment for the Egyptian government. The neighbouring nation of Libya, still in the recovery process since the Civil War, approaches the Egyptian government for an investment opportunity. [Skype Alex A (hellfiazz)] The Russian Federation The commissioned Helicopter Carrier rolls out of the Vasilyevsky Island shipyards on the Baltic coast and makes her first maiden patrol in the icy waters, before returning to whichever naval base she has been assigned to. Educational investment in Eastern Russia does very little to improve the circumstances there as most children end up leaving school at a young age anyway to either work in factories or the fields. The construction of schools in the East, as it stands now, seems rather pointless. The troops are moved to the border with Ukraine, sparking a large amount of alarm there [see Events section]. Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are largely disinterested in a military alliance with Russia, preferring their independence and neutrality if possible. Poland While the Polish Republic’s government was all too happy to sign away Prussia, Pomerania, and Silesia, the selling off of well over half of Poland’s territory and a huge portion of their population, industrial capacity, and mineral resources provokes a massive wave of anger from the Polish people on both sides of the new border. In Poland, hundreds of thousands take to the streets every day, sometimes millions, in order to protest at not only the government’s decision to give away all of this at all, but also the meagre compensation that the Republic was getting in return. The mass unrest at the government’s decision mean that the projects outlined for this year go largely uncompleted [No growth from investment]. What’s more, the loss some of Poland’s most industrialised, resource-rich, and populous regions means that the Polish economy undergoes severe shock, and their GDP actually recedes. [-3 toward growth] The Lithuanian government spurns any and all discussion the Polish government attempts to have regarding reunification of a centuries-old Polish-dominated Commonwealth. Even normally, there was no appetite among the Lithuanian people or politicians for it, but it is even less attractive given the state of the Polish Republic after this year. Mexico War rages in the streets all across Mexico between the Cartels and the Mexican government. In the most open fighting to date, brutal atrocities occur on both sides. Acting ruthlessly as they feel their power slipping away from them, the Cartels take brutal action against both civilians and military personnel. Almost 20,000 Mexican civilians and 32,000 Soldiers are dead by the end of 2022 with an untold number of cartel members killed or captured. Though their power is declining, the massive amount of funds that they possess allow these powerful groups to keep up their fighting against the government for at least another year. [-1 toward Growth] With civil war, the investments made by the Mexican government require diversion to military groups or civilian relief efforts [+1 toward Growth]. South Africa Both nations of Lesotho and Swaziland, for now, express their own and their people’s lack of desire for unity with South Africa at this moment in time. They do both, however, recognise that South Africa is a relatively prosperous nation in the south of the continent, and perhaps with some material demonstration of the benefits they could see under South African rule, they could be persuaded. As had been demonstrated in Nigeria the year before, the updating of the South African railways greatly assists the growth of industries both heavy and light in the nation. It is of particular utility to the recently developed mining operations in South Africa, and resources move in much more expeditious a fashion to the main coastal cities where they can be traded or distributed. The modernisation of the ports also facilitates a rise in South African productivity, although in that regard more work will need to be done to bring them up to par with developed nations. [+3 towards growth] The inspection does well in pulling the health officials and doctors up by their boots and ensuring standards are adhered to, which has a slight effect in improving conditions, though not much. The inspectors appear to believe that improving health infrastructure in the rural regions in particular is the most pressing concern, given that there is a huge discrepancy in doctors per capita between the more developed areas of South Africa and the outlying regions. [+1 towards growth] Building up a larger base of skilled workers in South Africa is a wise move indeed by President Isaacs, and the provision of free tertiary tuition to poorer South Africans proves both effective and popular. It is a good step towards bringing South Africa out of the backwardness that has plagued the rest of the continent for decades. [+1 toward growth] The Federated Republic of Albania Of the three world powers Albania reaches out to, China actually seems the most eager to partake, given that over the past decade or so it has risen to the forefront of global investment. The other two express interest but have thus far not made any commitments, unlike China. [Skype] In some of the more historically prosperous nations such as Germany, Italy, and the USA, the parts of the Albanian diaspora have integrated to some extent, and are on the whole content to remain in the nations which they have built their new lives in. Elsewhere, in places like Greece and Turkey, where the former has had a history of economic failure and the latter of political repression, the Albanian populations more readily take up the prospect of returning to their homeland. The rest of the infrastructure and housing development projects achieve their desired goal of a minor economic boost and increasing ease of access to more rural parts. [+2 toward growth] The Albanian Polytechnic University is initially somewhat successful, attracting a number of young Albanians to its halls from both inside their homeland, and from the diaspora, helping to start the reversal of the emigration of science and technology human resources in the Nineties and early Noughties. More work will need to be done to make the University truly world-class, but Albania’s future seems like it will be filled with more scientists, engineers, and architects. [+1 towards growth] Construction of solar power grids in the the Albanian Pindos and the Ceraunian mountains and hills is completed with in the year. Although it does well at bolstering the Albanian economy and diversifying the hydroelectric-dependent energy sector, there are more than a few complaints from both local residents and activists more generally that the panels are ruining the natural beauty of either of these mountain ranges. [+2 towards growth] The Republic of Macedonia’s government refuses to give in to external pressure to give autonomy to its ethnic Albanians, which number around 28%, denouncing Albania’s treading on the former Yugoslav state’s sovereignty. While there is a sizable minority of Albanians in Macedonia who are indeed nationalists or autonomists, most wish to remain integrated into their current home. The clandestine arming of the nationalist minority that Albania does support does not proceed as planned, as the Albanian government provided insufficient funding and arms [AP] in order to do so. Canada The additional investment by the Canadian government into finishing the QCI Launch Centre manages to get the job done, with it completing in late Autumn and opening a few weeks after. It is truly the crown jewel of the Canadian Space Agency, and the aerospace capabilities of Canada have been expanded considerably, not to mention the economic benefits the construction and operation of the QCI Launch Centre has brought and will continue to bring. [+2 toward growth] Extending the Trans-Canada Highway up to Prince Rupert was no small project, but with sufficient funding from Parliament Hill it is completed largely in coincidence with the QCI Launch Centre. The extension provides a short-term boost to employment and industrial consumption, in addition to the long-term productivity boon and complement to the newly built launch platform. [+3 toward growth] Multiple aerospace corporations, such as SpaceX and SPAR Aerospace, express an interest in launching from the QCI Launch Centre, given it is as of right now one of the most high-tech platforms in North America and perhaps the world. They offer considerable sums in order to utilise the CSA’s newly finished project. [+$40 billion to GDP] The US Department of Defense, however, declines the Canadian offer, as they do not really have a need to pay a premium for use of foreign launch centres given the number of domestic US ones available to them. Japan Japan’s healthcare system was already rather high quality and comprehensive, but additional investment is always welcome. While the majority of the funds are diverted to public healthcare services, most already have what they need, and so a large portion end up in research and development for new vaccines, cures, and anti-biotics, which goes on to further improve Japan’s already excellent quality of health. [+5 toward growth] Portuguese Republic Continual investment into the private sector by the Portuguese government helps the Portuguese economy to grow even more. More and more domestic corporations expand their operations, and yet more foreign businesses move into Portugal to establish themselves further in the Iberian nation. If current trends go on as projected, Portugal will grow to become rather prosperous quite quickly. [+4 towards growth] Another division of 10,000 Portuguese infantrymen roll out of bootcamp, eager to serve their fatherland in this turbulent time. Australia For the most part, the Australian power grid, water piping, and waste disposal systems were all fairly modernised and comprehensive. However by improving access and making those infrastructural systems more secure, prices for power and water see a small drop, especially in the more isolated areas of Australia. Waste disposal increases in expediency and cleanliness, helping sanitation somewhat. [+2 toward growth] Australia is a prime location for solar power, possessing huge amounts of flat, arid land with a great deal of perdurable sunlight. The starting of construction of these plants does well to make Australia less dependent on nonrenewable energy as well as helping to cheapen energy in the continent nation, facilitating some minor economic growth. There is still much more that could be done with solar power in Australia, however. [+2 toward growth] Yet more amphibious warfare specialists are recruited and inducted into the Australian Army, numbering some 5,000. Perhaps it is time for Australia to create a specialise Marine Corps allowing these troops to operate independently, rather than being fully integrated with the rest of the ground troops? Australia’s warning is largely brushed off by the People’s Republic, to whom Australia poses no real threat. China in turn warns Australia that assisting Indonesia in a war of aggression would warrant retaliation from them. Korean Republic The plethora of actions taken by Seoul in the North have done well to help bring the North Koreans out of the darkness of the Kim regime, both mentally and economically. The setting up of a new university in Pyongyang will likely go on to help dejucheisation efforts in addition to allowing the North Korean economy gain more specialisation in its populace. Modern power production helps bring clean electricity to many across the North, modern machines help free up many to pursue less menial and more specialised careers or educations, and modern electronics bring the many amenities of the 21st century to people who’ve been kept in the dark for decades. South Korean industries and businesses begin building factories and offices in the North and hiring Northern employees. The economy there is still a vast distance behind the South, but the catch up process has definitely begun and more and more people there are becoming grateful for what they now see as a liberation. [ +5 toward growth] China joins Korea in condemning the removal of Article 9 by the Japanese and implores the island nation to reinstate it, but makes no suggestion that it will make a forceful intervention right now. They will definitely keep a closer eye on the Japanese, however. Republic of Argentina Further investment by the government continues to benefit Argentine businesses, a greater number of workers being hired and goods being produced. The economic benefits continue to grow and it won’t be long before a tangible effect is had on Argentina’s GDP. [+3 towards growth] The reservists manage to get drawn up without issue, as do the 20 attack aircraft, though questions arise among the media and the population as to why reservists are being brought into service. Research into a new Argentine standard service rifle begins, and though blueprints have been produced, a great deal more money and effort will need to be invested in order to see a prototype and then a viable product. KINGDOM OF ITALY Work on bunkers and forts across the Western Italian Alps begins, with a number of bunkers being placed in advantageous positions in the rock of the mountains. It will take considerably more work until a defensive line has been comprehensively and intensively fortified, but troops crossing over from the French side will still have a harder time right now. The purge among the Italian officers goes moderately well. While the purgees naturally protest to the purge as stepping on their ‘illustrious’ careers, many soldiers and citizens are glad to see this military corruption and ineptitude finally being dealt with. The new military academies are a good start to getting a more professional officer corps, but they will need a greater degree of investment in order to start producing qualified and adept officers. Work on the secret project of the Italians continues. The attempts by the Italian government to inject anti-American sentiment into global media in places it is not already negative doesn’t bear much fruit. Compared to the USA itself and her close allies, Italy is rather lacking in soft power and so can do little to contend. The attempts at luring Italian-Americans to their ancestral homeland are also met with a degree of inertia, as most of the families have been well-established and integrated in the States for over a century. Still, some resonance is felt and a couple dozen or so Italians, mostly poorer families, begin streaming back over the Atlantic. Considering a lack of any United States naval forces in the Mediterranean, wary of entering through the Strait of Gibraltar, Italian defensive maneuvers would be largely focused on keeping the strait locked down in conjunction with the Spanish Navy. For now, the US Navy appears reluctant to conduct any overtly offensive maneuvers against the two naval forces, preferring a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Republic of China The US declines to enter into a close trading relationship with Taiwan, for concern over the Chinese seeing it as Americans going back on their word over withdrawal from the Pacific. The stimulus package into the RoC’s light industry and high-tech is an intelligent move by Wen-Qiang, and it pays off quite well. With Taiwanese electronics being produced in greater quantity and quality, the island’s economy becomes a lot more competitive, resulting in a notable increase in its yearly productivity growth. [+5 toward growth] Republic of Lebanon Continuing the investment in education assists to some extent in improving Lebanon’s somewhat mediocre literacy rate and secondary education participation. There will need to be a greater degree of education investment in order to bring levels up to modern, developed standards, and more beyond that to see results similar to those in the West, but it it’s a solid start. [+1 toward growth] The CPP coalition’s actions in government have proved very popular among many, and in the recent election the party made sizable gains. The CPP have consolidated and extended their hold on Lebanese politics, to the extent that if they wished they could eschew the support of their coalitions partners in the FPM and FM, rule alone, and still maintain a majority in Parliament, should they wish. Growth in industry and mining is highly desirable in Lebanon, where import value vastly outstrips that of exports. The influx of more domestically produced minerals, materials, and products into the Lebanese export market does a lot to begin the amelioration of this problem, but it may take some time and much effort to see a balance. [+2 toward growth] 20 new fighters roll out onto the Lebanese airfields, considerably more advanced than anything else in the Lebanon’s Air Force thanks to British, Israeli, and Australian technical and engineering guidance. Republic of Brazil Assistance in Mexico proves rather effective, providing support to the struggling nation. The combination of subsidies for entrepreneurial industrial ventures and the cheapening of the startup of them provides sufficient impetus for prospective industrialists to begin their foray into business. A variety of Brazilian-produced goods increase in number on the world market, and many inhabitants of slums find themselves able to find work and begin the climb up the prosperity ladder. [+2 toward growth] The Greater Republic of Congo The polls and surveys conducted in the neighboring central african states yield little information of value. These states, embroiled in intense conflict and lacking any strong central government, cannot coherently respond to such surveys. On a more individual basis, people seem far too concerned with their self-preservation than the growth of their neighbor in Kinshasa. The new approach instituted by N’Golo and under the direction of civilian leadership appears to work brilliantly, focusing the previously dispersed and far too widespread resources of the Congo into specific zones of need. Though not completed by the end of the year by any means, this newly found focus allows a significant amount of work to get done throughout the course of the year. Similarly, the Congolese plan to improve transportation infrastructure goes off without much issue, seeing significant improvements by the end of the year, though far from reaching a desired effect [+4 toward growth]. Improvement of the mineral exploitation of the Congo proves very profitable as Chinese state-run corporations sweep into the Congo over the course of 2022, establishing massive Coltan mines that put the people of the Congo to work with well paying, though not necessarily safe, jobs. Congolese efforts to improve diamond extraction and the acquisition of those mines by Kongamoto Diamonds also employees many otherwise unskilled Congolese, providing them with money previously unseen in Congolese society. Meanwhile, many diamond companies across the non-western world prove interested in opening mines in the Congo. [+1 toward growth][+1 bonus toward growth, Chinese employments][Encounter] Many of the largest rebel groups accept N’Golo’s offer, however those groups led by some of the least desirable of peoples in Congolese society come together to form a more coherent resistance against the N’Golo led government. Though this group has yet to act out openly, they prepare for their opportunity to topple the N’Golo regime. La República de Colombia More minefields are cleared at the cost of about a dozen lives, but their deaths do not go in vain for, by the end of the year, nearly 90% of the estimated number of mines in Colombia have been identified and destroyed. A truly remarkable effort undertaken by the Galvez regime, and an admirable one. Infrastructure in Colombia, across the board, sees significant improvement. Most of these infrastructural improvements, for the year 2021, center around reforming the area in and around Bogota, an already very modern city. Most of the slums are cleaned up and turned into more sustainable, but still low-income, housing on the model of American “projects” with sewage and power. Transportation in the capital becomes more accessible and efficient, making travel both cheaper and more convenient. Across the board, Colombia appears in very good shape [+4 toward growth]. None of the South American nations to whom Colombia reaches out request any aid at the present moment, preferring to tough it out alone for the time being. Republic of Indonesia The rather crafty gamble taken by the President pays off as public officials vote in favor of his anti-corruption reforms, blinded by their own corruption. Immediately after the bill's passing, several of those officials who voted for it are audited and outed on charges of corruption, though the President’s own corrupt deals are left off any official records. Slowly but surely, the Indonesian government is pulling itself away from the ineffectiveness that plagued it and closer to modern efficiency. By the end of 2022, Jakarta sees a vast improvement in quality of life as sewage reaches the city’s poorest denizens alongside clean water. The new water purification facilities go a long way in providing every citizen with untainted drinking water, and the surplus programs also prove effective in keeping the city from going thirsty. As water becomes more abundant and accessible to the people of Jakarta, the illegal siphoning also comes to an end and the crackdown on that practice further encourages that conclusion. Nigeria Assuaged by the words of their President, the Nigerian Christian community feels largely acknowledged and at ease with the actions of the government, putting to rest any sense of unrest there. Healthcare, a problem plaguing much of West Africa, greatly improves in Nigeria as a result of Foduye’s projects as dozens of hospitals are built or expanded. New, clean facilities act as beacons of prosperity in growing new communities and quality life in the more rural corners of Nigeria begins to increase. One issue that arises from this rapid, maybe hasty, construction of new hospitals is a lack in adequate doctors to staff all of these new facilities. As such, many sit idle as they wait for staff to man the equipment and care for patients [+4 toward growth] ECOWAS Encounter [Skype] New Zealand The White Feather Project continues onwards at a relatively steady pace. Similarly, the Militia continues to grow and develop, gaining an additional 8,000 very well trained and equipped troops. Additionally, investments in the education of young Kiwis sees an increase in general literacy and aptitude across all academic fields. Though it will take some time for these to have any real consequential effects on society, it’s a step in the right direction [+1 toward growth]. China accepts the offer to trade with New Zealand. The People's Republic of Catalonia Immediately upon the declaration of war against the small People’s Republic, the quota desired by Catalonia is filled. More than 60,000 men volunteer, rather than being conscripted, and swell the ranks of the small Catalonian army. What these men lack in experience or training, they make up for in nationalistic zeal and they froth at the mouth to maintain the independence of their young nation. One hundred main battle tanks [what kind?] are purchased from the United States, though they would not reach Catalonia in time to be effective in fighting the Spanish in 2022. Iran More funding into the university produces more results as many foreigners, persuaded by the quality of the education and stability of that part of the world in comparison with the rest of the Middle East, conduct their studies in Tehran [+1 toward growth]. The Iranian Space Agency continues to receive massive investments, establishing a massive launching site by the end of the year outside of Tehran. Plans are made, in accordance with the desires of the Khomeini government, for the next decade of Iranian space innovation [+3 toward growth]. The freeways in and around Tehran receive a significant upgrade, allowing for easier access to the increasingly modern city [+1 toward growth]. The Republic of France Education in France continues to see its standards raised as millions of dollars are poured into the lycées [+2 toward growth]. Housing in the south of France sees significant improvements and construction of new developments increases tenfold over the course of the year, providing low-income housing to thousands of new migrant families from Africa and the Middle East [+2 toward growth]. Project Napoleon progresses. Kingdom of Spain Resulting from a second wave in nationalism after the invasion of Catalonia, 40,000 men, double the desired number of conscripts desired by the Kingdom, volunteer to serve in the armed forces of Spain. These men would enter the new programs established with the help of Canadian officers, receiving training superior to that received by current officers in the field fighting Catalonia. Despite war, the economy of Spain continues to rebound from the Great Recession of 2019 and growth continues at a steady pace, though fears of a prolonged war spark some instability in the markets at the end of the year [+1 toward growth]. Tanzania More sanitation plants are established and clean drinking water, once a luxury, becomes more commonplace and affordable to the everyday citizen. Similarly, sanitation in the form of waste disposal proves very effective as the streets appear far cleaner than before and the general health of the public improves as a result [+5 toward growth]. Events Thanks to the Wrocław Accords, millions of Poles on both sides of the newly established border between Germany and Poland rise up in protest and riots, with a far greater degree of militancy on the German side. Very rapidly, this movement grows and organises, with the anger of the ceded peoples being directed at both Germany and the Polish government. The German officials who only just moved into administrative buildings in the newly acquired regions soon find themselves being ousted through means of popular revolt. Before long, a provisional government in the ‘German territories’ has been established and a unilateral declaration issued, announcing the independence of the Wrocław Republic. The entirety of the Polish Navy defects to this new Republic, as does some 50% of the Polish Air Forces and the Polish Land Forces. While the Polish people and the government in the Wrocław Republic desire unification with their brothers in the east, they will not reunify with a government that many of them see as a mere German puppet. The USA was petitioned for a guarantee of independence, to which they responded that the US Government sought to preserve peace in Europe and desires to see a unified Poland, but recognises the concerns in Wrocław. The Vratislavians also petition the governments of the UK, France, Italy, Scandinavia, and Russia for guarantees of independence until the issue can be resolved. Borders of the new Wrocław Republic In the Iberian Peninsula, the initial surge of Spanish forces over the border slows as a line is established from Lleida in the North and Tortosa in the South. The fighting is brutal, and as the weather cools hundreds of Catalonian and Spanish lives have been lost. The United States, with its carriers now arriving in the Bay of Biscay near the end of the year, warn the Spanish to cease their hostilities and continue to take steps toward armistice, as they have already signalled. 8. [RP Thread] Nightfall II

2021 - The Year in Review - A note for all, trade deals do not take effect until AFTER this turn. Everybody will grow the same from 2021 to 2022 at $20 Billion. United Kingdom The attempted Moroccan intervention produces a long series of largely inconsequential peace talks with neither side moving any closer toward peace than prior to British intervention. Indeed, the efforts made by the British prove rather futile as the men with whom they attempt to reason do not cease in their war crimes nor change their tactics. This is what works for those people, and simply establish the “British way” on them will not do the Moroccans any good. No peace occurs in that conflict. By promoting the London Stock Exchange and encouraging its people to have confidence in British markets, (it's insensible to… invest in a stock exchange as a body, but I’m going to frame this as you trying to encourage confidence in the markets) the market sees a small but steady increase in participation by the average citizen. Consumer confidence is still at an all-time low in the West as a whole though, and many private citizens are hesitant to put their money into the markets, especially after the volatility of the last five years and a general distrust in those markets. [+4 toward Growth] The “Sea-Hawk” Drone. [Discuss with me the specifications of the weapon in Skype, please] al-Jumhūrīyah al-Lubnānīyah The Economic Stimulation and Recovery Bill’s early effects prove significant, initiating a large series of public works that put many Lebanese to work. As is intended, it also helps put a lot of refugee labor to work, however the question of feeding and housing these refugees quickly arises as they are put to work without any real means of doing either of the listed necessities. Though more investment is required, small infrastructural projects begin to take shape. It will be a long road to modernization, but the current regime is taking the proper steps forward. [+2 toward Growth] In response to the National Security Bill, Hezbollah and other Islamist groups lash out severely. They take dozens of hostages, including a number of Parliamentary officials, and quickly rile up dozens of smaller Islamist militias into one united front. Hezbollah begins widespread acts of terror, killing hundreds in the course of the year. This campaign of terror strikes fear into the hearts of the Lebanese people, but also diminishes the average citizen’s desire to sympathize with them. Should the Lebanese continue to act out decisively against them, this enemy could eventually be crushed - given they do not receive any further outside support. [More AP required to achieve goal] The effectiveness of the Military Review Bill does not reveal itself by the end of 2021, however the push to decrease the size but increase the competence of the army does come to pass. Successfully establishing a fighting force of 70,000 with 26,000 in reserve, the Lebanese put themselves in a much better and more economical position to modernize their army. A large amount of investment will be required though to bring these men to the fighting competence of Israel, France, or the UK though. [More AP required to achieve goal] A noble cause, the Butler Act proves to be one of the most ambitious but virtuous of actions undertaken by the new Lebanese government. By the end of the year 2021, most of the framework of a core-curriculum has been established by a broad council of teaching professionals across Lebanon. About 1/4th of the desired schools have entered or finished construction as well. Though it will definitely require more investment, perhaps even more than the Lebanese government plans, the eventual payoff will be significant. [+1 toward Growth, requires more investment which has been accounted for] Contact me for the results of that Catholic/Papal thing you want to do, I need more information and I’m not clear on exactly what you want done. [Skype] Russia Tax reform in Russia proves somewhat successful, with more taxes being netted than prior to reforms however a shift of money overseas to avoid those taxes is commonplace among the most wealthy of oligarchs who wish to shelter their wealth from the government. The plan to force foreign companies to co-operate with locals proves rather disastrous though for, while most companies stay, several larger businesses that once looked into investing in Russia cancel their agreements, preferring to move elsewhere where they do not need to distribute their wealth among the population [+0 toward Growth, Tax reforms hurt more than help] Investments striving toward modernization begin in the chain of command with several new regulations for both enlisted and officers occurring. This takes place chiefly within the Navy though, given that the land forces of Russia are rather well-practiced and competent [You’ll have to contact me on skype, simply “modernization” is too broad. Next post, focus more specifically on what thing ie. equipment, weapons systems, etc, you’re modernizing/improving/researching]. Most Russians seem very disenchanted with the Putinist regime, and after the Tax Reforms of 2021, even more people are upset. This deal drove businesses out of Russia and lost potentially hundreds of jobs for otherwise unemployed Russian people. The people are demanding a new election and Putin appears incredibly unpopular, a position in stark contrast from the stranglehold he seemed to command only a few years earlier. The Chinese Government proves rather disinterested in re-asserting the relationship, seeing as it is rather dated and global circumstances has changed significantly. Indeed, the Chinese appear almost openly hostile toward the Russians politically. This discontent with the Russians by the Chinese government is only emphasized when they make the ultimatum to Kazakhstan, who immediately requests Chinese intervention. Both India and China mobilize their militaries and warn Russia that any move into Kazakhstan will result in intervention by both nations. Neither wishes to have a Russia expanding into their spheres of influence in central Asia. The United States also voices its discontent with the move, but makes no overt military threat as do China and India. The Greater Republic of Congo The rather sweeping reforms initiated by the N’Golo government prove rather ambitious and will take several years to come to fruition however the people certainly do possess a hope in this new leader uncommon among many other African nations. The people are captivated by the words (or propaganda) of N’Golo, and his speeches inspire the hopes of millions. Despite these facts though, very few Congolese abroad feel inspired to return to their home as they now live comfortable lives aboard. Notably though, a small group of engineers based out of the United States and several professors from smaller universities return home. They both wish to improve the nation through their specific skillsets, and offer humbly to not be paid so exorbitantly, only to be given the resources needed to live comfortably and complete their work. Talks with the Chinese begin by the end of 2021. [Encounter, Skype] Project UFUFUO, like the many other programs N’Golo and his government wish to bring into being, proves incredibly ambitious and will require a long, steady supply of resources to carry out. By the end of the year, only a fraction of the new roads have been constructed, electricity only really remains prevalent in the larger cities and backwaters, for the most part, remain without power. Hospitals are built, but staffing them requires an incredible amount of time and a whole re-education of a large portion of the populace. Education sees the most improvement, with a core-curriculum established and dozens of new schools sprouting up. Foreigners and foreign charity help especially in these sector as many willingly submit to curriculum changes and take part in teaching them. The specialists who go to the countryside to address the more… undesirable aspects of the culture of the Congolese people face stiff resistance, including some deaths, as these people are incredibly fixed in their mores. More effort will be required in that sector, and a widespread cultural revolution is likely needed. [+4 toward Growth] By the end of 2021, most of the blood-diamond facilities are eradicated, however with their eradication comes the eradication of their revenue. The Congolese government loses millions of dollars in valuable revenue by acting morally, and by the end of the year very few facilities have been replaced with legal operations. This will require more investment and more time to produce results [-1 toward Growth, lost revenue]. Syria The Syrian investments in improving their air power prove somewhat successful. Since the research is largely focused on acquiring a bomber on par with the B-52 Stratofortress, the Syrians seem at least… realistic. By the end of the year, the Syrians have researched a bomber aircraft capable of achieving about 2/3rds of the range of that bomber but lacking most of the complex computer systems that make the American counterpart so effective. The first step toward improving the Syrian economy is improving its infrastructure that has been devastated by the Civil War. By the end of the year, most critical infrastructure has been restored. Critical infrastructure being defined as roads and bridges. Aleppo is still essentially just a pile of rubble, as is Raqqa and several other cities closer to the Iraqi border. [+1 toward Growth] Egypt The overt threats made toward Israel are met with a widespread amount of discontent among the Egyptian populace as a whole. The Egyptian people are tired of conflict, and after several years of difficulty, they condemn the government for trying to incite war against Israel. If the government continues to pursue this road, they may find themselves in trouble with the people, who would prefer the status quo. What the people do not resent though are the government’s efforts to improve critical infrastructure and manufacturing. [Not sure what manufacturing you’re bringing in, so specify if you continue doing it]. [+2 toward Growth] Research toward a new tech begins [Contact me on Skype to discuss what you’re researching]. Deutsches Kaiserreich The rearmament program instituted by the Kaiser and his government goes over rather poorly. In a post-WWII Germany, the German population is wary of fervent nationalism and the lessons of both World Wars has not escaped the minds of the Germans. An entire re-education campaign would be required to begin re-militarizing the German nation. The institution of public works does some good, increasing the number of employed peoples in Germany. It does not prove as effective as desired though, perhaps a new mode of economic stimulus is required? [+4 to Growth] The subsidies to increase the birth rate do excite some younger couples, and marriages are on the rise. After a year the birth rate is up, whether it stays up is another question. Discussions begin with the mentioned neighboring states [encounters for those]. Mexico In its most ambitious strikes ever against the cartels, the Mexican police forces and military for the first time wages what is essentially open war against the cartel. Thousands die on both sides and the fighting is excruciatingly brutal. By the end of the year, several smaller cartels have been eradicated but the larger ones that remain begin to unify, combining their assets and preparing for all out war with the Mexican government. Facing this threat would require an extreme amount of funding and military personnel, and outside observers project the death toll to be significant [-1 toward Growth]. The economic investments help gain revenue for the drug war, but its effects are somewhat stifled by the war being waged in the country [+3 toward Growth]. The suite of equipment desired by the Mexican government is certainly nothing too outlandish, and by the end of the year a new assault rifle and pistol have been made standard issue. Modern and effective, the Mexican government and Heckler & Koch reach an agreement to provide HK417s to the Mexican army. In concert with that, HK provides VP9SK pistols as well. Since HK does not manufacture Submachine guns nor Light Machine guns, a different contractor will need to be found. The Republic of Chile The Chilean Government finds a fair amount of success in its investment into private industry. Given the state of global affairs, arms manufacturers approve especially successful and upstart tech companies are making life somewhat easier in the countryside [+4 toward Growth]. Encounter with Bolivia [Skype]. The People's Republic of Catalonia By the end of the year, Catalonia manages to recruit an additional 30,000 recruits toward the cause. Most of these recruits join out of fear; fear fundamental of conflict with the awoken Kingdom of Spain. 150 towed artillery guns, purchased from a manufacturer in the United States, also make their way to Catalonia by the end of the year. Pacifying some of the voices of discontent toward the government, the public works projects prove a unifying force as the poorer populations are put to work. Those who do not join the military sign up for these public works and Catalonian nationalism increases as a result [+1 toward Growth]. Scandinavia Thorium, for now, proves too unstable and scientists lack the capability to properly utilize it. However, the nuclear research has steadily become more efficient over the last year and some significant breakthroughs have been made in the realm of nuclear fusion power. It’s a step in the right direction toward making Scandinavia a much more energy efficient nation. [+3 toward Growth] The investment into subsidising agricultural practice in Scandinavia goes as planned, leading to farmers expanding and improving their own crop fields and producing a markedly increased volume of crops. Similarly, the mining subsidisation facilitates the injection of more raw mineral goods into the Scandinavian markets, allowing the newly formed nordic nation to see a growth in exports. [+2 toward Growth] Kingdom of Spain The Spanish forces on the Catalan border begin their advance. [Encounter, talk to me on skype] Attempts by the Spaniards to rally any unionist support in Catalonia are met with little success. The actions of the Spanish since the 2017 referendum, and efforts by the Catalan government, have resulted in the solidifying of Catalan nationalism, with few dissenters to independence left. While some would be willing, their sparseness and their inability to create an organised rebellion means almost no damage is done by the unionists in Catalonia. Spanish Military Contractors begin their work on the new technology. [Contact me on Skype to discuss what you’re researching]. The Spanish government’s stimulus package into its economy is met with a degree of success, with local business shutdowns being prevented and Spanish corporations expanding their domestic operations considerably. While it is not enough to make a noticeably large difference in national productivity, it is certainly a start. [+4 toward Growth] South Africa Increased training and thoroughness in existing mines leads to a marked increase in the amount of chthonic wealth flowing into the South African economy, giving it quite the boost. Furthermore, the surveys and prospectors find some deposits of minerals such as copper, chromium, and aluminium, which itself leads to the mining companies who intend to mine these resources hiring more personnel and purchasing the materials necessary to exploit the new deposits. [+2 toward Growth] Likewise, the infrastructure repairs and and expansion not only create jobs through the public works itself, but prove a slight boon to productivity and local business. [+1 toward Growth] The education reach out to more rural and deprived areas of South Africa is well-received by many children and their parents who see education as the road out of poverty. Already there is a perceptible rise in literacy rates, and companies both foreign and domestic grow somewhat more optimistic at the prospect of more high-skill workers in the near future. [+2 toward growth] Communist State of Cuba The liberation of private enterprise in Cuba goes a long way in bringing growth to businesses and industry, and the concurrent investment spurs on many new startups to open up in Cuba, as well as foreign businesses beginning to establish themselves on the island. It may be some time before the effects of the tight grip of the Castros on Cuba dissipate, but this first step by the T’Oussaint premiership in bringing economic freedom to the people is met with success. [+5 toward Growth] Canada The Canadian Space Agency, while dependent on foreign launch sites, has historically had a notable role in space exploration and aerospace. The establishment of a domestic launch site piques the interest of many investors and contractors in terms of both the construction and for future operations of the CSA. [+5 toward growth] Australia Infrastructure is particularly pertinent in such a vast nation as Australia, with industries such as mining being far inland and requiring a large amount of logistical support to pursue. The government investment in this area therefore makes a marked effect on the cost of mineral extraction and transport in and across Australia, providing a notable boost to the nation’s industry, though not quite enough for a large effect on GDP growth. [+4 toward growth] With Indonesia’s ambitious attacks on East Timor, Papua New Guinea, and Malaysia sparking widespread concern in Australia, the military finds no issue in sourcing new recruits. 5,000 freshly trained and equipped men join the Australian Army as amphibious warfare specialists. The State of Israel Palestine, for the moment, appears rather quiet. Indeed, most of the dissent in the region is rather open and requires no covert tactics as the Palestinians continue to push openly and appeal to outside nations in order to garner support for their independence. They continue to push for the independence of the West Bank and Gaza, as stipulated by the U.N. so long ago, nothing more. The Israeli soldiers make their way to Lebanon, assisting the officers there significantly in training the newly reformed corps. Settlements in Palestinian territory continue to stir up controversy both within Israel and without, however nothing especially notable happens while these are produced. The industry and business investments approved by the Knesset help improve the Israeli economy in the short term with markets in Israel slowly but steadily increasing. Long term, more policies will be required to continue this trend of growth. [+2 toward growth] Republic of China A country lying in wait for its moment for almost a century now, the highly modernized and high-tech society of the Republic of China continues to grow in the year 2021. As a result of the heavy investment in their domestic industry, many local companies see record profits as consumer confidence in the region skyrockets. The technology sector especially thrives as one company in particular reports an astounding breakthrough, one of particular interest to the government [Encounter]. Portuguese Republic All desired reforms successfully pass through the Portuguese Parliament, thanks mostly to the still large majority held by the SDP. Seeing Portugal take some steps in the right direction, the United States approves a trade deal with Portugal as an individual state and soon more American goods begin flowing into the ports of Portugal. Economic recovery in Portugal, already looking fairly stable compared to most other European nations, begins and continues at a steady pace. By the end of the year, confidence in Portuguese markets has leveled off at about the same percentages as prior to the Great Recession of 2019 and more private citizens are becoming comfortable in spending their money again. A strong step forward for the Portuguese! [+4 toward growth] Pacifying the nationalists for at least a time, the institution of this policy sees the size of the Portuguese army swell by a fair amount throughout the course of the year. Though many young people are hesitant to join the army, they see no reason not to considering the alternative - jail. The goal of 10,000 soldiers is achieved easily, though now the Portuguese government will need to allocate funds to pay the wages of these new soldiers. The Federated Republic of Albania The oil resources of Albania spark the interest of all three major powers, and a bidding war ensues. Ultimately, it is India who presents the best offer - providing Albania with a weapons system of their choosing from India’s modern arsenal along with a small investment into Albanian infrastructure. [+1 BONUS toward growth][contact me on Skype to let me know what weapon system you want]. A full squadron of helicopters is constructed, though these helicopters are incredibly dated, as the Albanians are surely aware. Pilots are also a struggle to recruit, but nonetheless by the end of the year their weapons systems have been completed. With the help of India’s small investment, plus the efforts of the Albanian government, the effort to connect industrial parks with military facilities is completed by the end of the year. Non-military civilians voice their displeasure at the lack of good infrastructure for them though, and lobby the government to put funds in their direction. [+1 toward growth] The agricultural reforms, though met with some stiff resistance by traditionalist farmers who don’t wish to change their ways, eventually are forced upon the population. By the end of the year, Albania is on track to see the desired fruits of their labor [+1 toward growth]. With the nationalization of natural resources, several large companies move out of Albania and the jobless rate begins to steadily increase. By year's end, several thousand Albanians have been put out of work as companies begin to look elsewhere in the Balkans (or the world, for that matter) to base themselves out of. Such a policy is very unattractive toward businesses [-1 toward growth]. La República de Colombia A noble effort, several hundred tons of explosives are discovered and discarded by the end of the year. The sweep through the jungles reveals the extent of the guerrilla war in Colombia, and it is estimated that there are still tons more left in the thick jungles of the nation. For most thoroughfares though, mines have been completed swept through and travel throughout Colombia is for the most part safe. The improvement of infrastructure coincides with the effort to clean up bombs and traps set up by the guerrillas, and by the end of the year most large cities are either connected or nearly connected by new and well-maintained roads. The cities damaged during the wars still require quite a bit of cleanup, and as such more investment will be required [+3 to growth]. Trade relations are successfully established with all four of the desired nations with humanitarian aid gratefully accepted by all nations. Republic of Brazil Corruption runs rampant through the Brazilian government, but with the ruthless crackdown conducted by the regime, it seems to be at least partially stifled. Hundreds of public officials are ousted or jailed, and by the end of the year the extent of the corruption in Brazil can truly be appreciated. This crackdown garners a large amount of popular support for President de Azevedo and his party seems poised to gain landslide victories in the coming elections (which will be required to replace all the purged corrupt officials). Despite the purging though, the lack of public officials on many levels due to their ousting sees efficiency of the government, at least for now, decrease significantly (+3 toward growth). The Republic of France In addition to the immediate economic benefit of creating jobs and increasing demand for domestic industry, the AFITF’s improvement and modernisation of the French rail and highway network leads to a discernible increase in worker productivity. The decreased cost for public transport leads to increased usage of it, leading to the corporations running the trains and buses seeing a minor profit increase. [+4 toward Growth] Macron’s campaign to patch up the political divide among the populace is met with limited success. While protests and riots are reduced, they are still a very large and visible part of the French political sphere, and will take some time and effort in order to placate. KINGDOM OF ITALY Desiring to increase their technological capabilities, the move toward the reformation of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society seems like a great first step. With this, and the Italian government’s moves toward promoting science and math literacy in the form of grants and rewards, the technological sectors both public and private see an increase in both earnings and output [to improve tech tiers, you must invest in specific technology -ie. A new form of rifle, new tank, etc. You can count this 2 AP toward that, or alternatively, you could count this toward just general upgraded in the form of modernizing tactics or something. Up to you, contact me if you want it toward an actual tech]. Infrastructure improvements do indeed see a significant increase in pace as a result of the nationalization of most construction companies. Many private business owners are concerned by this move though, and the Italian markets stumble a bit at the first announcement of these new policies. Regardless, the desired infrastructural improvements are completed by the end of the year. The prototype corvette is completed by the end of the year at La Spezia and is prepared to undergo weapons testing. Bundesrepublik Österreich The step towards sustainable and self-sufficient energy production in Austria is well-received among the Austrian public, with people on the left approving of the environmental friendliness and those on the right lauding the move towards energy independence. In terms of results, the Austrian energy sector clearly feels the results of the increased funding, as operations by domestic corporations expand and energy prices drop. The work on Austrian infrastructure is also somewhat successful, though the slightly larger focus on power this year means that there will need to be more work done to fully modernise the Austrian infrastructure networks. [+3 toward growth] The research into fusion technology coincides with the chancellery’s expansion of current power production. While no viable fusion-capable reactors manage to be constructed, the workforce and materials needed to produce these experiments and prototypes, as well as the beginnings of a fusion-orientated marked, mean that the Austrian economy is actually given a minor boost. [+2 toward growth] Republic of Indonesia As a result of the rapid military actions undertaken by the Republic of Indonesia, the People’s Republic of China mobilizes for war [Encounter]. Regardless of this mobilization though, the Indonesians sweep through the desired territories with rather remarkable ease as they take the populations of these countries off guard. The advances are slow due in large part to the terrain but as the year ends, most of what the Indonesians desire is under their control. In late December though, the Chinese arrive. On the island of Borneo, 15,000 PLA Marines land on the Northern tip of the island and quickly seize Sabah from Indonesian control as Chinese airpower decimates Indonesian strategic resources in the region. Utilizing a vastly superior navy, the PLAN begins to engage the Indonesians in the waters where Asrul Kapur commands. Supported by a carrier and several submarines, hellfire rains down at the incredibly ill-prepared Indonesian fleet. The Chinese demand that the Indonesians cease their aggression against Malaysia immediately, or face full-scale invasion and occupation. Malaysia, not quick to back down, also sends it navy out to support the Chinese in the conflict. East Timor and Papua New Guinea fall far too quickly for the Chinese to intervene and also seem far too disinteresting to the Chinese for any demands to be made in their regard. Domestically, prior to the outbreak of war with China, President Anwaruddin’s draining of the swamp, so to speak, goes brilliantly. Dozens of officials are jailed for corruption and millions in diverted funds are directed back into the coffers of Indonesia. For all intents and purposes, the audit is seen as an astounding success and at least soften the damage down to the President’s reputation by the embarrassing defeat off the coasts of Borneo [+5 toward growth]. Tanzania The general agriculture focus of the Tanzanian government this year results in a clear increase in crop yields, owed to the modernisation of current farmers with new equipment and more people starting up their own farms, which is now more financially accessible thanks to lower costs. Furthermore, the agricultural education means that fewer farmers end up failing both in terms of crops and finances, putting more surplus crops into the Tanzanian market. [+4 toward growth] Sanitising the water in an undeveloped nation such as Tanzania would be no easy task, and while some regions are no longer as wracked by a lack of water hygiene as they used to be, a lot remain unclean. The initial efforts see some increase in public health, but more work will be needed in order to reduce the nigh pandemic of water-borne diseases such as cholera and parasites. [+1 toward growth] Japan Given the complete withdrawal of the U.S. from the Pacific, the long debate over Article 9 comes to an end on October 22nd, 2021 with its formal removal from the Japanese Constitution. It’s a move that many in Japan are wary of, but given the state of affairs, it must be done. China in particular watches the situation with interest, and states publicly its displeasure with the measure. Japan, already a highly industrialized society, has no issue investing in dozens of new projects that improve the general health of the economy and help stimulate the markets after their collapse in 2021 [+5 toward growth]. Nigeria A rather sly solution to public transportation, given the poor roads and lack of privately owned automobiles in Nigeria, President Foduye’s initiative proves to work brilliantly. By the end of the year, hundreds of miles of high-speed railways connect most major Nigerian ports and towns, allowing the vast resources of the country to finally start moving about. [+4 toward growth] Though overt in their support of Islam, the Christians do not voice too much concern with Foduye’s efforts and instead petition to government to be simply protected from discrimination. The Christians will not push hard to actively convert Muslims, in return they ask that Islam not be pressed upon them and their communities - meaning they want the construction of Mosques in their majority regions to stop. Korean Republic The multiple avenues of renovation in the North seem, on the surface, to go rather well. Decaying roads and public service buildings are all restored and modernised, and though few have cars to drive on the new roads, the updating of healthcare centres and schools goes a long way in improving public health, literacy, and education. While a great many are thankful to be free of the yoke of the Kim dynasty and brought into the modern world, there are many still who either are in utter shock after the fall of everything they’d ever known, or cling fervently to the old ways. Despite this, the South’s efforts at bringing the North out of the ashes of the past goes a long way in their hearts and minds, and is a solid first step toward integration. [+5 toward growth] New Zealand White Feather Project [Skype for details] Increased spending on primary and secondary education is praised by many New Zealanders, and the effects are not without positive effect. Already test scores and final exams seem to be improving, and many companies are preparing for an influx of higher skilled workers into the labour market. [+1 toward growth] The armament of a portion of the New Zealander population goes quite well, in that like Australia, there is a surge in patriotism due to the Indonesian aggression, and hence the military finds it easy to source new recruits. 10,000 Regular Infantry finish training by the end of the year, fresh and ready for combat. [Skype me to talk about military stats] Republic of Argentina An investment package for small and large businesses is received very amicably by the beneficiaries, and the economic boons are felt quite quickly. Many long-standing local businesses begin small-scale expansion, and domestic Argentine corporations begin opening up new factories, departments, and chains across the South American nation, hiring more employees and producing more goods. [+5 toward growth] Iran A few of the nations approached by Iran are happy to attend the so-called Summit of Prosperity, specifically Iraq, Pakistan, Palestine and Qatar. However, the Saudis are still extremely wary of Iran since the 2017 diplomatic cut-off and so decline, and the increasing federalisation and closeness of the Gulf Cooperation Council (with the removal of Qatar and addition of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan) means that the previously more neutral Oman and United Arab Emirates echo their partner in Riyadh’s response. The rest, however, send their own delegations to see what the Iranians wish to discuss and propose. [Skype] With the founding of the University in Iran, there is an increase in people pursuing a tertiary education, and in the next few years the amount of highly-skilled workers in Iran can expect to begin increasing. However, at the moment the course range of the University is somewhat limited, and facilities and staff are not quite at the world-class level. Despite the positive effects already being seen, more work will be to be done to make it so. [+1 toward Growth] The construction of multiple Iranian sporting venues goes as planned, with the job creation and indirect investment into construction and material industries creating a minor boost to the Iranian economy. What’s more, with the new stadiums, Iran has the potential to slightly boost its soft power by hosting sporting events and making itself more culturally relevant in the world, though whether that can be realised is yet to be seen. [+3 toward Growth] Work on improving and expanding the Iranian highway network begins, although rather slowly in this first year of construction. While there is a minor resultant improvement to Iran’s fiscal situation, a lot more work will need to be done to finish the project and fully modernise the major roads of the Islamic Republic, as stated. [+1 toward Growth] [!][!][!] EVENTS Given the startling eruption and escalation of conflict all over the world, the global super powers begin to respond with appropriate force. The United States, far from a negligible fighting force, mobilizes the entire Sixth Fleet to put an end to Spain’s intervention into a sovereign power. Included in this task force is the USS Gerald R. Ford, moved from the Pacific fleet at the end of the Korean conflict. American fighter aircraft almost immediately begin to establish a no-fly zone over Spain, and should Spain not cease and desist, the American aircraft would rather easily knock the inferior Spanish ones out of the sky. The United States Marine Corps is put on standby, and a pair of Amphibious assault ships, fresh out of the Pacific and ready to deploy the full strength of the Marine corp, are also deployed. Drones begin to lurk high above the skies of the Iberian Peninsula as well, ready to strike at their discretion. The Spanish, and Italians for that matter, would be foolish to continue. The United States also publicly states that any aggression, either taken by Israel or conducted by any state in the Levant, will result in direct American intervention against the aggressor. The Americans continue to encourage the status quo, and any disruption to that will be met with strict force. China first denounces the Russian aggression against Kazakhstan, and at the behest of the Kazakh government, moves troops into the region to ensure protection along the Russian border. If Russia enters Kazakhstan, they will face war with the People’s Republic of China. To the south, Indonesia finds itself in quite a conundrum as China rather easily swats its naval forces that attempt to blockade Eastern Malaysia, sending Asrul Kapur’s navy into full rout. 4 of his frigates are lost along with 9 of his corvettes. About two dozen patrol boats are also sent to Davy Jones. Chinese submarines also begin actively hunting the Indonesian ones with the conflict in the Straight greatly concerning them because of the importance of the trade route. 30 of Indonesia’s 39 aircraft are lost in the opening engagements with the incredibly effective J-20 Stealth Fighter. Like Russia, the Indonesians are warned not to trifle with the People’s Republic. India also condemns the actions taken by Indonesia, and moves its fleets to support the Chinese and Malaysians. India also publicly condemns the ratcheting up of further conflict in the Middle East and warns of intervention should anything get out of hand. MAP

LONE STAR ARMS AND ARMOR “Equipping the Good Guys with Good Guns” Established in 2126, Lone Star Arms and Armor is the heir to a mega-corporation based out of Houston, Texas from the planet formerly known as Earth. Utilizing their massive amount of wealth as a result of weapons contracts all across the globe and fat subsidies from the United States government, L.S.A.A. set off into space as a private venture funded by the companies’s resources. For years, the small colony established itself among the vast wildlands of the North, however the opportunity for a market there seemed rather… bleak, considering the state of peace and prosperity in the North. Seeking more profitable markets, L.S.A.A. made the move in 2142 to move South where instability reigns and weapons are among the hottest commodities. With especially brilliant scientists and craft salesmen, Lone Star hopes to equip the nations of the South so that they may wage war the Texan way! For inventory, shoot me a private message. The Ibrahim System, late 2142 With a brilliant burst of light, a massive contingent of ships from the Redon Imperium materialize in the capital system of the Holy Kingdom of Eadn. Upon arrival, the Redons begin scanning the Eadni capital for lifeforms and any active weapons platforms before beginning their assault. Navigating carefully through the massive debris field created by the destruction of Eadni orbital facilities, dozens of dropships methodically lower themselves to the surface of the pock-marked plane. With the first step of Redons upon that sacred soil, the Holy Planet was desecrated. Unknowing souls wandered over that land once brimming with promise and hope for the future of humanity. Redon Dropships make their slow descent onto the surface of the Holy Planet, 2142 Not long after arriving on planet, thorough scans of the Eadni Homeworld indicate a complete absence of human life on the planet. Redon soldiers move cautiously through the ruins of Eadni civilization. From across the al-Nayan river, Redon observers look upon the former jewel of the Holy Kingdom, the Holy City. As dusk settles in that area, the lights of many of the buildings still receiving power flicker to life, illuminating that ghastly specter of civilization. As night falls, the Redon advance upon the Holy City. The weary, anxious soldiers move cautiously through the once bustling streets, jolted occasionally by the automated speech of robotic vendors who treat the invading soldiers as familiar customers. Intricate advertisements and moving images dot the facades of buildings, most of which depict propaganda meant to fuel the Eadni war machine. Idyllic images of the noble Eadni fighter pilot feature prominently in one of the ads, a source of comedic relief for the Redons. Suddenly, the entire city darkens and the advertisements cease, all screens fading into white. The Redons raise their weapons and prepare for whatever trap the Eadni intend to spring… but none of that ever comes. Slowly green text, all in Arabic, sprawls over the white emptiness… Quran verses. In time with the appearance of the text, massive, unseen speakers bellow out ancient Islamic chants methodically for several minutes. Such was the evening call to prayer, a daily ritual in the lives of hundreds of thousands of Eadni. Over the next several days, the Redon begin to search throughout the Eadni home systems for survivors, but to no avail. Just as the sands shift with the wind, the Eadni were gone. Hundreds of thousands of people… gone in an instant. Across four sectors and six planets, not a soul can be found, only ruins and abandoned mines. A few Zyrka ships appear to move in and out of the systems regularly, but otherwise, activity in these regions grinds to a standstill. Within a few weeks of the Redons abandonment of the Holy Planet, the last lights still active in the Holy City flicker on for the last time. That former beacon of human prosperity glimmered one final time as the echoes of its former masters belted from now deficient speakers. In the city’s last moments of life the prayers fell silent, and the Holy City fell into solemn silence.

THE HOLY KINGDOM OF EADN مملكة عدن AP Available Per Turn: 12 AP Population: 439,500 Eadni Shipyard: Level 5 (0/40 to SL 6), Level 2 (0/6 to SL 3) Investments: (8/20, Industry; 5/25 Business) Colonies: Eadni City, Eadn [Ibrahim System]; Aljadid Riyadh, Hussein [Al’Noor System]; Aljadid Baghdad, Idris [Al’Noor System]; Dajaaj, Autef [Kalani System]; Qahira Jadiida, Kamal [Kamal System] The Year 2142 Trade Partners: The Human Cooperative [9 Nations], GTFO Diplomatic Actions Actions [6 AP] The new shipyard, dubbed Ali Station, is upgraded in its capabilities once more. It becomes capable of producing Light Cruisers and Support Carriers. This will prove critical in freeing up space at Ibrahim Station, which seems to be constantly abuzz with activity as of late. [3 AP] Another Kamal-class destroyer, the IEN Jibil, enters production. This will round out the Carrier Strike Group. [Constructed in the SL 2] [2 AP] The Holy Kingdom makes another investment in its industrial capabilities. [8 AP, from Imperium of Man] A battleship is constructed in the Grand Shipyard of Eadn for the use of the Imperium of Man. Like the one constructed for the P.A.R, this is a bare chasis which the Imperium may modify to their liking. [6 AP, from the FHT] A Heavy Cruiser is constructed in the Grand Shipyard for the benefit of the Free Human Technocracy. Like most other ships constructed for their allies, it is a bare chasis for which the FHT may modify to their own liking. Riding along with the new ship, a few Eadni scientists would head to the FHT to help start another initiative. [1 AP from Eadn, 1 AP from Solarin Federation] The Mass Driver Program begins once again as the second generation of these weapons enters development. The improvements focus mainly on the improvement of the energy systems that propel the various shells developed for the weapon systems at their targets. As such, new, miniaturized xylorite reactors are conceptualized as well as other means of increasing power to the electric weapons system. This is just the beginning to a complete overhaul of these already formidable guns. [1 AP from FHT / 1 AP from Imperium of Man] Project Distantium

In the wake of the Hades bombing, the entirety of the Protorian population finds itself enveloped in grief as the Archivar’s body returns to the Protorian homeworld. Beneath the throne of the grand archive from which he imbued so many with wisdom, his body becomes forever enshrined in an ornate monument to his unrivaled power and wisdom. Millions attend the massive ceremony marking his enshrinement, and billions more watch it on various sources of visual media. Following this beautiful ceremony, the Protorian Council announces that it will enter a week of mourning for the Archivar, and encourages the population to join them in this. THE HOLY KINGDOM OF EADN A second Eadni shipyard is completed in above their oldest colony, giving them the capacity to augment their fleet with destroyer class ships and lower. It should help free up space on the main shipyard. A destroyer is finished within the year. Eadni industry roars ahead with a third consecutive year of investments by the state. THC Project Shaaria: The Alliance’s ties strengthen. Star Republic of Edonia Three frigates are completed by years end, bolstering the Star Republic’s fleet. These frigates are then equipped with the improved ammunition which becomes capable of being fired from Eadni mass drivers. The Plasma Cannon Project enters testing… [Skype]. THC Project Shaaria: The Alliance’s ties strengthen. The testing of tri-phased shielding proves incredibly difficult and frustrating once again as the additional generator leads to a significant amount of instability as the entire lab overheat, resulting in a massive explosion and the destruction of the prototype as well as the lab. The targeting computer testing yields rather promising results as it drastically improves the accuracy of the Star Republic’s smaller kinetic weapons. Several more complex algorithms will be needed to really make this computer useful on ships larger than destroyers, but overall the improvements are definitely a step in the right direction. Whilst scanning for new materials, the Edonians discover a strange pool sof a sort of liquidy substance dotting the surface of a smaller world in one of their southern sectors. Sensors indicate that this liquid is incredibly dense, almost as dense as Itoron, but completely foreign in its makeup. The Lithruans receive the Edonian delegation to begin discussion - Skype. The Trade Federation Assuming the Ymorians are compensated for their work, they are more than happy to place generators capable of sustaining the new shields onboard the Nexus. The precautions undertaken by the Trade Federation are largely understood, and the precedures do well to keep out most contraband. The customs officers of the Federation take amusement in the strange oddities they find among alien visitors, many carrying strange foods or otherwise that present potential bacteria dangers to the Federation. Project Theia - Skype. Project Tarot - Skype. The Zykra do not budge on their current state of affairs and do not accept the idea proposed for the shipyard. For now, they continue trading with the TF as before but without any special arrangements. The loosening of the C U N T and its resources does well to educate its students, and many who graduate from there go on to serve valuable roles in negotiations and trade. The Ka’Czech Lord of Stars denies the idea of making the TF a sort of demilitarized zone and declares that military ships will pass freely through the area without issue, seeing as the TF cannot really do much about it. The Ka’Czech, in unison with several other Northern naitons, kindly remind the TF of their place in the galaxy, stating that to them they are nothing more than a sort of gas station, a convenient stop on their route south to wage their wars and make their profits. This statement does not do well for business within the Federation either, as no investments come in to the smaller space stations. [Eric, I know there’s several things here that may be missing. Hit Czar up on Skype for what I missed, as some of the alien stuff I’m not equipped to address.] Kingdom of Armathwaite/Silver Knight Corporation Secret Project! Secret Project! Through the mountain… The sniffing out of Armathwaite criminals yields some interesting results as several large criminal operations are discovered, however these lack ties to any foreign elements and are ultimately of little consequence. With the destruction of USA spying facilities after their surrender to the T.H.C, nothing else of consequence is discovered. The Light Cruiser and the 100 Gawain mechs are completed over the course of the year, both strengthening the fleet of the Armathwaite. The Protorians, Redons, and Backhatta all accept this idea of talking and offer the Armathwaite the opportunity to discuss this further [Skype]. Thulean Republic Project Taranis. The colonial freighter is almost completed, needs just a few more resources to finish. The Destroyer is completed soon thereafter. The shipyard then moves to refitting the Thulean fleet, which it also completes by years end. Again, the armed forces of the Republic gain a significant boost in recruits with another 3,000 men joining the cause. They’re emboldened now by the submission of the USA to the T.H.C. THC Project Shaaria: The Alliance’s ties strengthen. The L.C. receives this offer and would like to negotiate with the Thuleans further [Skype]. The People's Agrarian Republic The P.A.R completes their trade station within the year, pouring a significant amount of resources into doing so. [+3 Trade Relations] Their industry also sees a significant improvement as well. Advanced Robotics Research proceeds [Skype]. The aid reaches the Edonians without any issue. The Solarin Federation The Solarin Federation successfully sends aid to the Eadni. THC Project Shaaria: The Alliance’s ties strengthen. 2 Centurian Frigates are completed and deployed to the Solarin Fleet by the end of the year. Their fighters are also completed around the same time. Project EVE. Spreadsheets, mining, and such. The Protorians receive the Solarin envoys [Skype]. Asgard Republic Trade is successfully established with the IRM and Andorrans. Trade with the USA is halted, effectively ending any exchange in goods. Joining the THC proves highly profitable for the Asgardians as they gain access to several new technologies. A pair of corvettes are completed by the middle of the year. The destroyer is finished soon thereafter. With the increased size of the Asgardian fleet and increasing ambitions outside of their own sector, the wargames begin in their simulated reality. [Czar for result] The modifications made to the jumpsuits prove to be the final ones required as the armor now boasts stability and strength with the new mesh-weave. Most engineers are confident now that this armor is battle ready, and they would be correct. The work into the improvements of sensor capabilities sees some minor successes in its first year of development. More detailed cross-sections of larger ships capable of being detected at greater ranges, though the Asgardians are far from a signficant sensor range. THC Project Shaaria: The Alliance’s ties strengthen. United States Of Arcturus The reparations are sent to the Thuleans and Solarins, reaching them without issue, a good sign for the Arcturians who didn’t need any further trouble. Project Infallible and Operation by Dawn’s Early Light [Skype]. Imperial Republic of Mankind Three secret projects: Shadowblade, Longshot, and Gamins. [Skype] The first stages of the construction of the Imperial University at Cadia garner a tremendous amount of interest from civil engineers and artists from all over the Imperium, dozens of whom petition the government with ideas for elegant designs and state-of-the-art areas for teaching, study, and habitation. The Imperium need merely to take their pick at any of these very sophisticated designs. For the next stage, the Imperium will need to address the actual learning curriculum and decide how they might go about hiring teachers, many of whom who still remain from Earth would likely be incapable of handling the advanced curriculum the University would likely implement. Hephaestus Enterprises The group of destroyers is completed by the end of the year without issue with Hephaestus engineers becoming quite good at churning them out. Hephaestus Enterprises’ ambitious recruitment campaign draws capable professors from several Southern nations, especially from those looking to escape some of the more dangerous nations in the South. The largest group of professors seem to be Tassarean. Despite the massive amount of resources and scanning that occurs on throughout the Corporation’s systems, nothing of significance is found save an abandoned Firstborn city [Skype for details]. The mining colony on the Itoron colony is established and so capitalism thrives! Andorra Project HIPPS - Skype. Project ATM - Skype. The Andorran Kingdom produces two corvettes by the end of the year. Many Cevelli simply state that they came here to find new opportunities that they otherwise might not have found on their homeworld, or simply to trade with the Human population of Andorra. Many express indifference to the Andorran leadership and do not really see themselves as Andorrans in any sort of patriotic, nationalist sort of way. United Canadian Front Project Goliath is now complete, and as such four hundred-fifty ATC-74’s are put into construction and completed by the end of the year. Similarly, the Support Carrier’s production is completed by the year’s end. All U.C.F. fleets are accordingly retrofitted while 1,000 T-60 suits are made. The Han Dominion [REDACTED] Project Lance. [Skype] The colony ship is completed by the end of the year along with the construction and opening of a new Xylorite mine. The mining industries of the Dominion rejoice as a second deposit of Xylorite is quickly found as a result of their surveys in their westernmost territorial claim, bordering the Ganvius. The Sovereign Military Order of Malta The twin colony ships are completed by the end of the year with citizens of Malta from all walks of life and race clamoring to board. THC Project Shaaria: The Alliance’s ties strengthen. Project Star Trek - Skype Whilst being able to cross-connect some dots between the weapon and quantum mechanics, they toss up more riddles than answers, leading to no mentionable results. The xylorite mine is finished, increasing the industrial capacity of the Maltese. Additionally, the construction of the Veneti house continues. It is about a quarter of the way toward being on the scale of the House of Rhodium, whether or not the Maltese wish to continue this would be up to them. Maltese ships are successfully retrofitted. The Kingdom of Unified Systems A prototype model of the armor using the new material is completed, and it proves resistant to Earth-based ballistics. For now though, this armor is incredibly immobile and the metal proves difficult to mold. More research will have to be done before steps can be taken toward mass production. Agricultural production gains a slight boost as a result of the KUS investments while two corvettes are completed by the end of the year. Free Human Technocracy The free cybernetics are received by several of the hospitals on Hades responding to the non-fatal injuries from the Summit Bombing. The quality of these cybernetics is revealed to the general public through such actions and Kyber Korps gains several new customers. Psionics & Cybernetics [Skype] More and more tourists begin to flock to Tropico as the facilities are significantly upgraded. Meanwhile, in their northernmost territorial claim, the F.H.T. discovers a rather average deposit of Itoron. Regardless of the size, it is a nice boost to industry once a mine can be established there. Events In a galactic shock, the Ganvius and Kalronians come to terms on a peace settlement that results in some territorial concessions though otherwise nothing consequential rises from the matter. Perhaps they feel inspired by the peace efforts of the younger nations in the south, or perhaps they’re just weary of fighting. Whatever the cause, the fighting has stopped. Meanwhile, the L.C. begins to turn their attention away from offensive attacks against the Keerim, instead heavily fortifying the borderlands of the Skellar Kingdom and Libellan Union. These worlds, already once brought under the Keerim yoke, serve as a sort of buffer against a renewed Keerim assault and a stage point for their own assaults into Keerim space. Without much surprise to anyone observing the massive warfleet assembled in the Carina Cluster, the Darkul finally launch their invasion into Ar’gakari territory with an overwhelming force of 18,000 ships of all sorts of classes. Despite serious preparations on the end of the Ar’gakari who expected this attack, the Darkul invasion fleet tears through system after system and sector after sector, driving the Ar’gakari closer and closer to destruction. --- Population growth Imperial Republic of Mankind - 734,500 Humans Terran Federation - 375,250 Humans, 40,750 Grgl, 26,000 Tassarans, 19,000 Libellans, 17,000 Human-Tassarans, Silver Knight Company - 419,750 Humans, 66,000 Tassareans, 24,500 Backhatta, 32,000 Redons, 18,500 Human-Redons, 18,500 Human-Tassareans, 59,500 Galaron, 3,000 Human-Redon-Tassareans, 5,000 Redon-Tassareans, United States of Arcturus - 176,500 Humans, 12,000 Da'nor, 2,750 Human-Tjieran, (12,000 Ceri Garrison, 4,000 Ascardian Garrison) (23,500 Humans, 9,750 Skellar, 6,000 Libellans stuck on Arcturian Colony) Hephaestus Holdings - 772,500 Humans, 102,750 Grgl, 203,000 Tassareans, 50,000 Human-Tassareans, 31,500 Libellans, 31,000 Redons, 26,500 Backhatta, 20,000 Human-Redons, 89,500 Galaron, 9,000 Redon-Tassareans, 7,500 Human-Redon-Tassareans, 19,000 Protorians Free Human Technocracy - 415,500 Humans, 45,500 Da'nor, 20,500 Human-Da'nor The Holy Kingdom of Eadn - 439,500 Humans People's Council of Utopie - 426,000 Humans, 29,500 Protorians, 35,000 Libellans, 64,500 Grgl, 65,000 Tassareans, 30,500 Human-Tassareans, 20,250 Backhatta, 23,000 Skellar, 58,000 Galaron, 9,000 Human-Protorians Order of Malta - 733,250 Humans, 16,000 Ganvians, 26,500 Ceri, 28,000 Tjierans, 56,000 Ascardians, 29,000 Da'nor, 12,500 Human-Tjierans, 15,500 Human-Da'nor, 15,500 Human-Ascardians, 10,000 Tjieran-Ascardians, 7,000 Ascardian-Da'nor, 18,500 Skellar, 16,000 Libellan Han Dominion - 609,750 Humans United Colonial Initiative - 337,500 Humans United Canadian Front - 337,500 Humans Ultima Thule - 134,500 Humans, 19,500 Da'nor, 4,750 Ceri, 7,000 Ascardians, 5,000 Tjierans, 9,500 Redons, 23,000 Krib Asgard Republic - 328,750 Humans Porton Technocracy - 292,500 Humans, 16,000 Cevelli, 7,500 Ka'cezh, 8,000 Zyrka, 5,500 Ymorian, 4,000 Alduu'uuranean, 9,000 T'jell, 26,500 Krib, 4,000 Human-Cevelli, 1,000 H’Wong Andorra - 258,750 Humans, 3,000 Cevelli Kingdom of United Systems - 277,500 Humans ---- Map Update ---- Year 2142 by Earth’s Calendar.

From the Office of The Human Cooperative Shajarat Eadn, Ibrahim Station. The solemn procession of the state funeral of Salen Kotch in the Solarin Federation. Thousands came out to mourn the death of such a well-renowned figure in the federation. Joint T.H.C. statement regarding the bombing on Hades “Assembled for peace, slaughtered in the name of some unknown cause. The tragedy on Hades exemplifies the darkness that still reigns in much of the galaxy and acts as an example of what the Human Cooperative strives to eliminate. As an entity, the T.H.C. condemns these attacks and stands in solidarity with all affected nations both friend and foe. Should Hephaestus require additional resources in conducting an investigation, the T.H.C. offers its resources to aid in such an endeavour. Furthermore, the T.H.C. does not hold the corporation liable for the attack. May whoever committed this atrocity be swiftly found and brought to justice.” The Eadni Ibrahim Station, a Class 5 Shipyard, seen constructing a Light Cruiser. This is one of many stations made available to the L.C. T.H.C. to offer Lend-Lease to the L.C. in Keerim Conflict “Given the extensive amount of high-capacity shipyards within the various states comprising the Human Cooperative, the governing body has decided that these shipyards may be opened to the L.C. to aid in their war with the Keerim. The Keerim Imperium has committed several acts of violence against the human race, and as such the T.H.C. considers them an enemy of all of mankind. Any enemy of theirs is a friend of ours.” Joint Declaration of War against the United States of Arcturus for Crimes Against Humanity and Acts of War Against Member States of the T.H.C. “For too long, the United States of Arcturus operated beneath the yoke of the Keerim Imperium, dutifully serving their avian overlords and advancing their interests rather than those of the Human Race. In an attempt to appease their overlords, the U.S.A. compromised the location of the Thulean Republic, a T.H.C. member state, resulting in their home world's swift and horrendous destruction. The Arcturians then moved upon the Solarin Federation in unison with the Keerim, acting out of appeasement to their avian overlords once more. Again, hundreds of thousands of human lives were lost. The T.H.C. will not tolerate the spilling of human blood, especially the blood of our member states. Aside from their crimes committed alongside the Keerim, the U.S.A. has also been caught smuggling espionage technology through abuses of Hephaestus Enterprises. These listening devices and such have been used to conduct operations against T.H.C. and non-T.H.C. member states alike. Espionage on this scale is an act of war, and as such it will be acted upon as such. Should the United States wish to avoid outright combat and bloodshed, the T.H.C. offers merciful terms of surrender. Should they not accept, the Human Cooperative will be forced to strike at the Arcturians. I. The scuttling of 2/3rds of the Arcturian fleet. Any ship above the class of Destroyer must be destroyed. This would be overseen by T.H.C. officials. The Arcturian Shipyard would also be rendered incapable of building anything greater than a destroyer. Their spy network and probes would also be revealed and destroyed. In exchange for revealing them, these spies may return to Arcturus with the promise of amnesty. II. The surrender of Arcturus’s colonies, until such a time that the T.H.C. determines the United States has earned back the right to rule them. The colony will be overseen by a joint task force of Cooperative military forces, and ruled justly in accordance with the traditions of Arcturian society. [Would not gain AP from colony or the population of it until turned back over] III. The complete dismemberment of the current Arcturian government. Any and all current high government officials will be disposed and tried for war crimes. New and free elections are to be held, overseen by T.H.C. and selected Arcturian officials. IV. Reparations to be paid to the Thulean Republic and Solarin Federation, both of whom have been gravely affected by the crimes of the Arcturians. [2 AP to each] V. A formal apology to Hephaestus Enterprises for wounding their credibility and disrupting intergalactic free trade. VI. The United States of Arcturus, in return for their adherence to these terms, would receive a guarantee of independence and receive the protection of the entire T.H.C. Their remaining fleet would be potentially allowed to join the greater T.H.C. fleet, and in time they may be allowed to repossess what they have lost. The Arcturians may contact the T.H.C. via Quantum communications to make a decision. No response will be interpreted as non-compliance."
