    Thailand/Indochinese League

    Domestic Governance

The Military Junta of Thailand had come across its first challenge to its leadership in almost a decade, the economic issues in the Country being blamed on the Army. The Generals and Officers grew concerned fearing that their days in power may be at an end, however King Rama came up with a suitable solution. Over the course of many months the King of Thailand arranged negotiations with many of the leaders of the democratic protests who wanted to see democracy restored to Thailand.

The Solution ended up being a power sharing deal with the Military and the Democratically Elected Officials. The Military itself remaining loyal to the King of Thailand and having its oversight being an appointed commission that the King chooses personally rather than the elected Government overseeing the Military arm of the Country. It seemed to have settled the wants and needs for an elected Government and it was done in a quick and timely fashion, ensuring not too many working days were lost due to the protests and strikes.

During this time the Thai Government while essentially leading the Indochinese League moved to integrate the other Countries in the League to Federalize further, albeit in a democratic way to not lose the support of the people in these Countries. The Military might of the League began working together, each army in each Country now following a doctrine of training and equipment set forth by the Thai Military in close conjunction with the Vietnamese Military.

    Diplomatic actions

Laos is officially invited to join the Indochinese League to finally fully unify Indochina on the worldwide stage.

All Trade Agreements are negotiated and accepted if offered, the Thai set forth a policy that trade is to be negotiated with automatically when offered.

    Military Actions

The Indochinese Military at this point is equipped with up to date weaponry and is fully modernized in equipment, structure and organization capabilities.

Laos accepts the offer, joining the alliance.

  4. The War in Russia
    - State of the Conflict -

    WiJFxrc.png

Even as the world starved and shook with the uncertainty of economic instability, war raged in the East. Russia faced invasion from both sides and found itself sandwiched between two mighty enemies. The withdraw of the American forces did a number to wound the strength of the alliance as Britain essentially fought alone with boots on the ground inside Russia. The British soon found themselves bogged down in the Crimea, and even more so once the Russians withdraw from Ukraine. The Russians manage to wrestle air superiority in the region and the British fleet cannot get through the Bosporus without permission from the Turks. The British soon find themselves smashed between a Russian army advancing from the West and another moving rapidly to defend from the East. The majority of their expeditionary force ends up trapped in the port of Sevastopol, and the Russians need only move to completely crush the force - if the British don't withdraw.

The Ukrainians cannot mount a realistic offensive as their numbers are mostly inferior to that of the Russians and their equipment cannot match up to that of the Russians. As a result of this inferiority, a sort of staring match begins all along the Ukrainian-Russian border, with no real action taking place.

In the Far East, the Sino-Japanese-Indian-Korean offensive makes great gains but soon gets bogged down as it reaches the permafrost of Siberia. Most of their equipment is not prepared for the bitter cold, and neither are their men. Even with modern technology and provisions, frostbite and hypothermia still ravage the advancing forces as they march onward. The Russians, masters of their own terrain, move in ways that the Asian forces cannot anticipate and soon find themselves locked out of Siberia. A line is soon established from the Pacific to the Mongolian border along the steppe. Though the Asians rule the sky, their command of the ground is beginning to fall apart and anti-air emplacements established by the Russians since the beginning of the Cold War rip apart allied air operations to the point that the Russians begin to win some confrontations in the air. Oil fields are still maintained by the Russians and Moscow goes relatively untouched as it lies well out of range of the Asian forces.

  5. Minor Event

[non-respondable as that would be Meta]

As chaos erupted across the globe and millions cried out against the failures of globalization and neo-imperalism, a nondescript white truck rolled slowly down a poorly kept road in the middle of Kazakstan. After a few miles of moving along the road, the truck suddenly veered off-road, pushing its way through the dirt and gravel towards an assembled group of four European men. The truck rumbles to a halt as a group of six Pakistani men, clearly military, or former military, leap out of the truck. One of the European men steps forward:

"Search them, make sure there's no wires. Then I want you to search the truck, make sure there's no cameras. If anything fishy is in there, the deal is off."

For a tense few minutes, two of the Europeans carefully pat down the Pakistani men before moving into the car, drawing MP5s as they search the dashboard of the truck, and then lift the shutter from the back of the cargo bed. One of the men immediately grins, poking his head back around the side of the truck to the presumptive leader of the group. He immediately holds a thumbs up to the ground and the leader smiles, looking to the Pakistanis.

"Well, you fuckin' did it. Impressive. I don't want to know how, but you folk are fuckin' brilliant. Thank you boys, the service you have done to the world will go down in history."

After these words were spoken, the fourth man steps forward raising a M4 up to his hip, pointing it at the six men. The leader smiles, shrugging his shoulders.

    "Sorry lads, no loose ends."

The muzzle flashed in the hot sun as bullets leaped off the rocks after passing through the bodies of the Pakistani men. In a matter of seconds, every single one was dead and only the four Europeans remained. The two who stood before the bodies carefully stepped over them, moving to the back of the truck with the other pair. Wide smiles crept over the faces of all the men as they looked upon the haul resting upon the cargo bed.

"Boys, we're about to change the world."

Resting quietly in the back of the truck were 9 armed Pakistani nuclear warheads, rushed out of the country in the chaos that was the Indian invasion. Sold on the black market, they were now in the hands of a mysterious terror organization that the world doesn't even known exists. Yet.

The Keynesian approach taken by the Chinese appeared to be working for a little while as stocks within the state began to stabilize, though prices did not increase and entered a period of near complete stagnation. Growth within the country, which prior to the crash was sky-rocketing, continued to fall at a terrible rate. For the first time in recent memory, Chinese growth, in the form of GDP, was actually going negative.

The new 'G.S.C.' has promised to counter this Russian aggression and the respective markets of those nations has taken a slight hit over the past couple days with many stock markets down several points. On the domestic front, a major purchase is likely looming between tech giant Google and a small start-up called "FlyAuto," a group serious about building affordable flying cars that run without gasoline.

    The Days that Follow - February-March 2022

Millions of people in the United States would lose their savings once again, and similar situations were erupting all across the globe. The United States was simply the first to fall to a crash. Soon after markets opened in Europe the next day, the crashes began there. This rippled across the Urals and into Asia where the Chinese, Japanese, and Indochinese markets all crashed in similar fashion. It was truly a terrible couple of weeks as economic confidence and stability was devastated just as it seemed everybody was getting back up on their feet. What the future held was uncertain, but one thing was certain: the world was changing.

    -----

    Fallout - The United States

Following the crash, thousands of protests swept across the United States with hundreds of arrests being made as a result of a dramatic response to the crash. Suicide rates nearly doubled in the country, and voices of dissent were never louder. The Right and Far Left, looking for a scape goat, immediately turned to the one, looming giant that towered over the US economy: China.

A storm of angry protests began on the steps of the capital, often with conservative and radical left wing groups coming together in unison to protest both the Warren AND Trump administration's continued cooperation with China even after many believed it to be a doomed deal. The American people outright questioned Warren: "You ran against working with China, opposite to Donald Trump, but instead you enter us into yet another economic and political union with them? You violated madame President, you violated by betraying the roots of your platform by continuing to work with China."

Rumblings over armed insurrection in the South against the Warren presidency could not be ignored as military bases were found to be vandalized and in some extreme cases, molotov cocktails were thrown over the walls of these bases. It was certainly a volatile time in the nation, and Chinese hate was at an all time high. In times of uncertainty, politicians and groups in power will always look to a scapegoat, and none was easier to manufacture in the United States than the Communists in the Orient.

    Fallout - Europe

With war erupting in the East, many there were far too distracted to worry about the crashes. In Ukraine especially, where poverty was already rampant after the civil war and nearly every male had secure employment: the armed forces, the effects of the crash were negligible. Instead, it was felt in a different way. In Belarus, Romania, Moldova, and the Ukraine, millions were beginning to starve as grain exports from the west came to a slow halt. What little aid religious organizations and charity groups could provide was simply not enough and soon millions all across the European east were starving.

Russia was no exception to this as millions of Russians in the west began to protest, sparking what would later be known as
"The Bread Riots" which featured organized marches unlike anything the state had ever scene. Members of the armed forces even openly protested, going so far as to refuse to serve if their families were not provide for in the form of food. Inflation in the country, and the rest of the European east, was simply to high and bread and other commonplace food items were far too expensive for the average Eastern European family.

The European Union, what remained of it anyway, saw insurrections in their integrated territories with Far Left Marxist groups claiming that the European Union was a rich man's coalition and that it was simply another way for the wealthy of Europe to break the proletariat. Soon, Communist protests and uprisings were flaring up all across Germany, Austria, Croatia, and the Netherlands. Far Right nationalist groups were also gaining some ground, demanding a return to an era of sovereign nation states, however these voices were largely drowned out by the Communists within the European Union.

Switzerland, France, Poland, the United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Scandinavian Union and other G.E.C powers all faced similar crisis as their populations were ravaged by hyper-inflation as a result of the market crash and a fall in grain supply across the continent. Combined with the embargoes conducted by the EU and Russia, inflation was ridiculously out of hand and soon riots similar to those within Russia were occurring. The European Union also became a scapegoat in most of these nations, with Far Right parties gaining traction within the non-integrated European nations. This was in response to wave of Marxism within the EU, as well as a desire to capitalize on what many believed to be the fall of globalization.

Fallout - The Far East and Australia

In China, protests were brutally put down as thousands attempted to take to the streets in response to the crash. The initial Chinese response to the crisis was harsh, with an immediate shutdown of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and a move to cutoff ties with the West until the market stabilized. However, this proved to not be effective and soon the markets, as well as diplomatic channels, reopened. Many within the Chinese public were deeply offended by the words of hate spewing out of the American 'ally' and many, including those within the inner-circle of the Communist party, demanded an ended to all foreign relations with the capitalist pigs.

In Thailand, Japan, and Korea, protests erupt as the military and the public clash openly. In Thailand, the people blame the military government, demanding a return to democratic processes and a restoration of the people's rights. The Japanese people respond by blaming the increased openness of the Japanese government and, more peacefully than others, petitions the government to server most diplomatic ties that are non-essential to the nation's economy at large.

The Oceanic Union sees increased traction in the opposition party as a population already enraged with the actions of Tony Abbot only grows more enflamed. The opposition begins to poll far above any of the pro-government parties, and rallies are held all across the country to gather support against the current Prime Minister. The Turkish see similar responses with opposition against Erogdan at an all time high and protests for increased democratic rights erupting in the streets of Ankara and Istanbul.

    Fallout - Africa

The new U.A.F faces its first test of true instability as markets all over Africa crash. Their efforts outside of West Africa to encourage integration lose nearly all traction. The floor of the African Union erupts into accusations of recklessness on the side of the U.A.F who other sovereign African nations blame for causing in part some of the global instability that started the crash.

The encirclement of troops was not a good sign. If word got out to the media and to the people about this tactical failure, morale would drop immensely, people would protest the war, and public dissent would be the country’s undoing in this war. The troops initially meant to flank around at hit the Pakistani’s would change their plans, instead double timing towards the position of the entrapped Indian forces. Hopefully, the bombers, the added armor and the sheer might of 200,000 troops would be enough to break the morale of the Pakistani’s. General Sharath would prepare for a two-pronged attack. Of the 400,000 that invaded initially, the force would be split into two units of 200,000 each. The 2,000 armored units would also be split into two units of 1,000 each. Chinese bombers, after having completed their runs on the border would now turn their attention to the defensive line formed by Pakistani soldiers, bombing known positions along the defensive line. The two units of 200,000 soldiers and 1,000 armored units would now strike, following Sharath’s flanking maneuver against the defenses. [[MOD PLZ]]

The Pakistanis regroup, moving to counter the flanking maneuver by forming an angle which forced the Indians into a sort of envelopment. This created a situation where roughly 40,000 Indian troops were trapped and encircled. These units would need to be saved if the Indian Army hoped to keep morale high and their own offensive secure.

The GEC will be based on the model the EEC was provided, without any political union or Schengen-style open borders. The other members of the GSC are invited to the economic community. The nations that left the EU are all invited to both organisations (Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, Hungary, and Belgium) as are those independent states still in it (Romania, Ireland, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Finland, and Moldova), and they may accept either invitation independently of their answer to the other. Meanwhile, an offer is sent to the governments of Chile, Columbia and Venezuela for a long railway from the tip of Chile to the Venezuelan port of Maracaibo. Though expensive, with the combined labor efforts of all the countries the railway would allow Chilean and Peruvian freight trains access to the Atlantic, allowing more trade to the rest of the world without having to pay rising tariffs from the Panama canal. It is expected that Columbia and Venezuala would decline this offer, so in return for accepting, Peru would lead a large military operation against the drug cartels in all three nations. The Peruvian secretary general claims that "within three years, the combined effort of all nations would lead to the eradication of corruption and the drug menace that plagues the two countries. With continued pressure after that, it could be the dawn of a new era of prosperity for Columbia and Venezuala, allowing both countries to rebuild after the tyranny of the cartels." It is hoped that this offer would sway the opinions of the two nations into agreeing with the railway. ((MOD PLEASE))

Most South American nations accept the offer to replace their trade with Brazil in favor of Peru and new agreements are drawn up. They also express enthusiasm in a greater economic union, though they are hesitant for much more after witnessing the spectacular implosion of the European Union.

The air raids, though brutal, do little to stop the fiery spirit with which the Ukrainians fight. Indeed, it is revealed that anti-air arrangements in the country are increasingly effective, especially newer systems granted by NATO in the midst of the Crimean crisis. Russians end up with more losses in the air than kills, and Ukraine maintains a slight edge in the air, even with slightly inferior fighter aircraft.

Finland bluntly refuses to join the new Russian Empire with a blunt statement.
"You invaded once, you failed. You will invade again, and you will fail."

Military mobilization begins in Finland, and the lessons of guerrilla warfare are taught in weekly workshops held by the Finnish military. Large fortifications are re-occupied along the border, and Cold War bases are restaffed. If the Russians were coming, the Finnish would not be caught off guard, and would not go quietly.

Emboldened by the progress made in Africa, Pope Sergius diverts the remaining missionaries to increase the support being sent to Africa.  The ones stationed in the middle east remain, but no further missionaries arise. The Pope also diverts treasury funds to start the Vatican Television and Radio Publicity (The VTRP), which broadcasts about the Vatican's political movements and increases pro-catholic sentiment ((MOD PLEASE))

In addition, the Pope begins talks with the Italian government about buying large portions of countryside near Rome and developing it into farmlands, the idea being to give employment to Catholics near Rome.

The Pope declares Rome to be a "Holy City" and encourages Catholics to move there, claiming it will bring them closer to God. This is also broadcaster on the VTRP and advertisements are bought on major American, German, UK, Indian, Canadian, and Portugese news channels. ((MOD PLEASE))

Pro-Catholic groups continue to form across all of East Africa, and soon there are many voices requesting the construction of new churches for new, large congregations. In Somalia, as much as 12% of the population has converted away from Islam and now openly practices Catholicism. In Ethiopia, both Sudans, and southern Egypt, similar numbers are being observed. The radio and television networks are only expected to aid in this sudden wave in catholic faith forming along the Nile.

Though those of the traditional, Western flock do very little to move into the Holy City, thousands of immigrants from Africa and Asia, especially Korea and Japan, begin to apply for visas with the Italian government as the long process of immigration starts. As a result, the Italian government has a greater amount of pressure to allow such a purchase. In order to avoid a massive amount of unemployment from this new wave of immigrants, the government agrees to such a purchase, but only on the following terms: The church will use at least 40% of all tithes received in the West to construct suitable housing for this new wave of immigrants in the lesser developed ares surrounding Rome.

Russia offers to send spetsnaz and supplies to what remains of Al-quida in hopes of relaunching Al-quida to what was. ((Mod Please))

Interestingly enough, the Belorussian government eagerly accepts the offer to join the new Russian Republic. Rather than face slaughter and conflict, the government willingly submits and is welcomed back into the fold as they once were under the Soviet Union. A fair majority of people within Belarus support this action with roughly 60% in favor of annexation. The remaining 40% were either indifferent or opposed, but no significant resistance forms and an air of complacency appears to take hold in the former Soviet Republic.

Ukraine though is a different story. Fighting along the border is brutal and intense with casualties on both sides sky rocketing the minute conflict begins. In a move of tactical brilliance, Ukrainian airborne are dropped all over the Crimean peninsula in an effort to take hold of the region, securing the critical port of Sevastopol in roughly 4 hours and a brief engagement. Such action is unprecedented and leaves most of Russian high command stunned. It is believed that the pro-Western government has anticipated war since the illegal seizure of the Crimea earlier in the 2010s, leaving them to prepare for war with a number of contingency. Russian experts warn that this may be just one of several key contingency plans the Ukrainians have in place, and perhaps the best method of action would be to wait them out, or bait them into acting once again.

The Ukrainian state also accepts ANY AND ALL offers of solidarity and support, and requests immediate military assistance.

The Spanish and Italians respond with defiance on the floor of the European parliament which ends with the combined delegations of Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, Hungary, and Belgium walking out of the parliament, vowing never to return while under this same leadership. All immediately reach out to Britain and France, hoping to find some alternative to this now broken Union.

Poland and Hungary both hold their referendums with an overwhelming vote in both nations to leave the Union. The remaining nations, though not leaving the Union directly, refuse to cooperate with the new constitution, withdrawing their armed forces from the current EU force and closing their borders to the integrated EU nations. Poland takes an especially bold step, fortifying its border with the Germans and vowing to take military action should their sovereignty be violated. In a similar fashion, troops are placed on the border of Kaliningrad and Belarus in case the Russians wish to get involved in Polish affairs.

Today I stand to talk about the changes that have been made by the barbaric leader of the United Russian Republic, Iery Gerasimov. Last night, I was gifted with a vision from God Himself, and this is what he spoke to me. He told me that the actions of Iery Gerasimov and the URR are to be condemned; that they are evil, unholy, and sacrilegious; and that Satan has a place in hell designed specially for Iery Gerasimov, where he will burn for all eterntiy! We, as a Nation of Catholic peoples worldwide, must NOT sit and watch while this infectious evil is allowed to grow in Russia and spread across Europe like a foul rot! We must take a stand as one people. So I command you to rise up and speak! Do not allow this festering disease to spread further than it already has, and condemn the URR at every opportunity. The citizens of the once-proud nation of Russia especially, it is your duty to rise and condemn the actions of your leader. Remember that he will burn in hell if he does not repent soon. I pray for the citizens of Belarus and Ukraine, and for the souls of the heartless politicians who stand by and do nothing, allowing their neighbors to be oppressed by these monsters."

Denmark and Norway's proposition to take things a step farther is taken to heart. Sweden proposed the three establish a confederation, to pledge to work together in all things. The reasoning is that already partially integrated, they could form a more influential political front to the world. A more powerful front, especially to an increasingly more dangerous EU.  If the Scandinavian powers stuck together, merged an already merging system, they would prosper. To balance the weight of this offer, Sweden would elect to have a smaller amount of seats in a new parliament then the other two. It would be up to the new confederative parliament to vote in their name and body. Things would be planned, after the other two nations voted yes or no. Iceland and Finland are not invited, Sweden figuring they would not join. However the offer is their, if the other Scandinavian states see the sense to joining. Each nations would keep it's own goverment and identity, just be a part of a bigger whole. It would be up to how much power they give the confederate goverment, to decide who would truly rule. The Norwegians and Danes willingly accept, though they wish to put it forward in a referendum to ensure full public support. AN END TO THE BRAZILIAN CRISIS

After a well planned invasion by the British, massive swaths of Amazonian territory are seized. As the coalition advances further South, the people of Brazil grow anxious, especially with their current government who they view as beginning this war for fairly unreasonable stipulations. As a result, a coup d'etat is launched by the military of Brazil, seizing the government and the capital before the British can intervene in the south. This emergency military government immediately sues for peace with the U.N. coalition and offers reparations in some form to be paid to Argentina once democratic processes have been restored to the nation.

He stands to make a direct announcement to the world soon, concerning the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance - something that the nations of South America seem to have forgotten about. The treaty sees any act of aggression on a sovereign nation of the Americas as an act of aggression against all of them, prompting retaliation from the rest of the members. He wishes to - with UN approval - see Peru at the head of a large military operation in order to assist Argentina. But first, he has to convince the remaining countries of the Treaty to act, and entice former members to rejoin. He has to act fast however, as very soon Brazil could succumb to the UN's sanctions and change their mind.

With the new propaganda waves and outreach programs, Catholics around the world are beginning to feel more connected to the papacy,  less independent and more unified. With higher tithes and more sources of income, the treasury and economy begin to grow more rapidly. The treasury was already substantial in proportion to the size of the country due to the Vatican having very little spending, but it begins to swell rapidly.

    ACTIONS

Inspired by the progress of the economy, Pope Sergius sends missionaries to third-world countries, ordering them to establish hospitals and food banks for the needy. Missionaries are sent mostly to the Middle East, namely Syria, Palestine, and Iran. The missionaries work closely with other charitable organizations such as the Red Cross, in the hopes that more people will be inspired by their actions and convert to Catholicism.  ((MOD PLEASE))

The Pope makes a speech on live television declaring his sympathy for the countries and his desire to form ties and bolster Catholic populations in the area. In addition, Pope Sergius sends diplomats to Japan, the UK, and Germany to "Discuss opportunities for mutual growth."

Though greatly appreciated, the charitable efforts of the Catholic church do not do much to convert the people of the Middle East. However, the small amounts of missionaries sent to East Africa report resounding success, converting hundreds of formerly Islamic believers to the faith. It appears that the instability in the region has shaken the faith of many there and the people are willing to embrace a new, more tolerant faith.

    United States of America

President Trump was doomed. The whole world knew it. He had fantastically failed his country, the only good legacy left behind the massive increase in public education and the liberation of Korea. A second term was out of the question. So the question became, who would be the next US president? On the right wing, Marco Rubio had cinched the nomination, using strongly anti-China policies in his "America First" campaign to push himself ahead of Newsom. On the left wing, Elizabeth Warren was the nominee, the second female democratic nomination in 4 years. She had the advantage of being a constant critic of Trump long before he was president, and was polling highly among women and minority voters. Trump, while still theoretically running, is polling so abysmally that Kanye West has a better chance of being president than him.

    Election Day

As the votes pour in and the ballots are counted, in a public ceremony viewed all over the nation, the next American president will be Elizabeth Warren. The efforts by Rubio, though truly admirable, were not enough to convince the American populace that another Republican president was a good idea. President Warren makes a grateful acceptance speech, vowing to stop working so closely with China until America was in a better situation.

    Actions

President Warren takes no action within the first few days of presidency, but does begin a massive nation-wide debate on many issues such as the possible re-legalization of marijuana, and raising taxes on the top 35% of Americans. Also, with the Trump administration education funding, President Warren looks into possibly making college tuition free, or at least lowering it, and possibly taking inspiration from Canada for a new healthcare system. [[MOD PLEASE]]

With the European Union seemingly unifying at a greater pace, alarm grows among the French people and government. Soon the entire continent would be under German dominance, and France was determined to protect herself and the other nations from this fate. The French government conducts counter-propaganda to the German efforts in Poland, Hungary, and especially their neighbour Belgium, providing funding and advice for the more conservative parties in those nations. Given that national conservatism and soft euroskepticism are currently strong themes in the current Polish and Hungarian political zeitgeist, it is unlikely that the German efforts would see much success here. These efforts are conducted to a lesser extent in all other non-integrated EU nations. [MOD PLZ]

Closer ties are also sought with other nations in the EU. The French Foreign Office reaches out to Spain, Italy, Greece, Ireland, and Poland in order to bolster relations between them and France. Greater integration between Belgium and France specifically is also sought, as France offers Belgium unified law enforcement and counter-terrorism efforts and sharing their foreign policy, both within and without the EU. [MOD PLZ]

The slow rise of the Occitan independence movement was noted by the French government. A campaign is begun in the region to try and promote French unity and nationalism, pointing to the strength and prosperity of the united France, and the needs for a continuation of this in the face of the trouble brewing in both Russia and the EU. [MOD PLZ]

The Belgians would respond warmly to the efforts of the French, accepting most of their proposals save for the idea of a shared foreign policy as the Belgians still wished to be represented as Belgian upon the world stage. The response to the campaigns in Poland and Hungary is also positive, at least for the French side, as nationalist movements continue to gain traction and anti-EU sentiments are at an all-time high. In Poland, a referendum is to be put on the 2021 ballot and it will ask for the complete exit of Poland from the EU. Hungary is soon expected to follow suit.

In regards to the Occitan independence movement, the efforts of the French government do well to quench the fires of nationalist rhetoric. A recent study done by a local University found that only about 20% of those living inside the region would be in favor of leaving France should it ever come up on a ballot.
