  1. Not properly edited? They knew why they were "denying" the app before going to copy-paste the template. It's just total bot-behaviour to mindlessly copy-paste a template versus taking 2 seconds to type "user has already been accepted" or whatever. Dunno why you're spending any time looking at lore whatsoever. If the lore is obscure enough that a CT member (or any existing player) wouldn't know it off-hand, then it shouldn't be required of an applicant. Can't say I agree about the freedom of creation just being a lore thing. If I as an existing player created an Elf with green eyess, I wouldn't get banned or forced to change it. If I had some backstory that chronologically didn't make sense (because I got confused by the 800 previous maps/nations/realms we've had), I would at worst be made fun of IRP or accused of fraud or something, maybe get some people OOCly messaging me telling me it doesn't make sense, but definitely not a ban or anything. If I made a character that was too tall or otherwise physically non-standard, it would have to be a serious extreme before staff would contact me to force me to change it. Applicants are certainly held to a higher standard in this regard. As for the Discord messaging that would also be a lot less of a problem if you just put less applications on pending to begin with.
  2. That's mostly the "Denied" section. The "Pending Denied"s are usually cases of a nitpick (sometimes even a total non-reason - "your character can't have green eyes") where the player forgot to check back on-time. Many of these should just be accepted straight away. Also, are some CT using bots to automate their responses or wtf is shit like this? This doesn't look professional if that's the idea. "Edit and change the fact that you're already accepted. Don't worry, you can submit a new application that will be denied because you've already been accepted!" Like???
  3. 1. acceptance rate is way too low 2. ppl not picking subraces is a bit of a problem. i'm not saying to deny people for not picking one, but it's clear for example that elven subraces are being communicated far better than the other ones. if basic descriptions of each subrace were incorporated into a spoiler tag as part of the app itself (rather than forcing them to click into a separate, massive, wiki page) and if they had a separate dropdown rather than sharing one with the overall race (cuz right now it isn't even obvious that the subraces belong to the races), the rates of people picking one would probably easily jump to 80+% across the board through that alone.
  4. "haha ha" says grumblydorf the dwarf, otherwise known as Ecclesiasticus Barclay. his eyes glow red and you explode you ******* idiot, you fool, you absolute moron, how could you forget my character is simply better than yours, you feckless **** shit bitch IDIOT
  5. we had this b4 when did it stop ❤️
  6. Bait title. Post anything about either IRL or LOTC history that interests you. Doesn't need to be in-depth, though it's appreciated, can just be a general topic that you think others should read about.
  7. Well yes, change could've happened IRP and was obviously happening IRP (there sure as Hell weren't any civil unions in human countries prior to like 2023, 2024, can't remember which - that's like 14 years of anti-precedent - until it happened like last year), but my point is that none of this will invalidate Canonism, as much as these gleeful elf and magic RPers may wish it would (and indeed, they've already been celebrating that throughout this thread). You can change the lore and rules of the server as much as you like, but you can never invalidate the only thread of lore which has remained consistent from 2011 'til now. The only way to do that would be to wipe the entirety of history since Aegis. We do owe a great debt to guys like Viros and Cracker that they wrote the Scrolls and the dogma in such an adaptable way, but they were also building upon what came before, and it's all worked out because (contrary to retarded Elven belief) Canonism isn't just "crucifying gays and pagans in Minecraft" but a rich theological tradition which puts their years of omphaloskeptic antics to shame. Also Llir still hasn't rewritten Realm rules after the Haelun'or fiasco what an embarrassment lmao
  8. One thing I want to clarify because there's a lot of talk about religion OOC and Canonism IRP: There is no tenet in Canonism or anything in the Scrolls that is anti-homosexual. The only issue Canonists can have with it is that, without same-sex marriage, such relationships would be fornication. And there have been debates going back to like 2020 about whether or not the Church should permit same-sex marriage. Viros as High Pontiff brought it up once in like, idk 2020, 2021, after a character raised a thread discussing the topic. The main issue was not that the religion prohibited same-sex marriage, but that until that point all marriages (including all those listed in the Scrolls) were between opposite-sexes. People with nothing to do with religious RP might not understand why this is a problem - but if you're claiming to be the vessel by which divine truth has been preserved for millennia, you lose credibility when you say "oh woops, we were wrong about x for the last 2,000 years". At the time Viros proposed introducing a kind of non-marital blessing for same-sex couplings (based on a real blessing given in the early Church IRL), to get around this issue. I voted in favour of this, actually, because it made sense in the context of RP (Canonism clearly having nothing against romantic or other kinds of love between members of the same-sex, and as for anything further - we shouldn't get any hint of that IRP anyway, per cybering rules), but it fizzled out without any formal vote-taking (happened in Disc). Then, a few years later, this issuse reared its head again IRP, and the Church issued an encyclical permitting Canonst Kings to allow for civil unions between same-sex couples. This is different to a sacramental blessing as was proposed by Viros, but the Canonist Church doesn't approve of sin, so the Canonist Church tolerating such civil unions was an endorsement of the fact that they weren't inherently sinful. The fact that the Church didn't offer to acknowledge them was again the idea that this didn't correspond to the Canonist conception of marriage, but again, there is nothing in the Holy Scrolls or dogma to speak against such couples (except that having sex outside of marriage, gay or straight, is unkosher). So there's this issue of "how do we permit same-sex marriages when it's never been done before? Aren't we meant to be the guardians of tradition?". Well yes, it is an issue. It was an issue for female priests too, and we tried to get around it by allowing nuns to take on more and more priestly duties, until Kevin Boby finally pulled the band-aid off and let them become priests (perhaps to win e-girl favour in the face of an upcoming schism war). His decision was a roaring success and occurred with very little controversy, although I do think priests are 99% men to this day (they just aren't interested!). The reason I bring up this tangent is because female priesthood was another issue where nothing in Scripture or Church dogma prevented the change from happening, but where the fact of change itself was a threat to the Church's identity. Because how can you claim to be legitimate preservers of the truth if you were wrong for 1,000 years? Luckily most players have short memories, and don't understand how religion is supoosed to work, so that gambit paid off. Similarly, the Canonist Church would survive same-sex marriage without a hitch. So, despite being Canonism's #1 shill, perceived harm to Canonism is not why I think this rule and its overly broad application is dumb. Canonism will do just fine and will survive past all of your e-retard careers. It's been around in some form since Aegis and Viros and Cracker future-proofed it since then. Don't bring your latent e-elf retarded seething Canonism hate into this. Cheers.
  9. That's over a thousand hours lol and it only counts the last few years. But go on, if it's happened in the last two weeks since I was last online, tell me all about it! I'm sure I missed the 20 page forum thread it would've caused. Should be easy to find it for me.
  10. No one said anyone's gonna be forced to transition but yes, you will be forced to go along with it the first time someone realises they can troll this way. Put up a wanted poster for a bandit, get an angry call from a moderator 24 hours later to take it down because she's changed her name now.
  11. We've had threads that hashed this out for years but the Admins just ignored them all until they decided to rush a rule out with 0 thought or nuisance. Like, should using IRL slurs IRP be banned? Sure. And while I have literally never seen this happen (despite claims to the contrary), people shouldn't be hunting down gay characters or anything like that IRP. It's a good thing to limit RP to a degree that it doesn't make people uncomfortable. Same reason we allow murder but not grape, racism against elves but not against black humans - some forms of hostile RP are too real and traumatic for many players and make it impossible to separate RP from OOC. That's all well and good. But it has to be within reason. Should we ban armed robbery RP because we surely have players who've mugged IRL? And we make a big deal about how this is a "medieval setting, strict techlock" when it comes to guns, but now we're gradually banning characters having any attitudes that don't conform to 21st century Western norms. Don't you think it'd be a bit ridiculous if a bandit warlord at war with Oren, slitting the throats of its peasants for fun in Coalition War #12478, obediently respected the Emperor's transition and avoided using her deadname like a good progressive liberal? Well that's what he'll have to do under pain of ban. The next step, when the sexism rule comes in, will be to ban nobles if they respond to their wives aborting their heirs with anything other than "you go, girl!". Medieval RP setting btw. No guns allowed.
  12. mfw I get banned because my child's preschool teacher tells me my kid is trans and I withdraw him from class
  13. u didnt even run against nolan lmao
  14. I was disagreeing with the implication your character was called a demon for 9 months when he was a clergyman (eventually cardinal) in good standing with the Church, who was even nearly made Pontiff not long before the fake PK, and who was recognised as an Aengul extremely soon after the idea he was one became public knowledge. I wasn't denying that he claimed to be an Aengul privately before that.
  15. i dont think this is accurate. you made a post declaring your char an aengul like immediately after u pk'd and the case for canonising u was opened immediately after in the next ecumenical council. and then in that council u were canonised and acknowledged as an aengul, very soon after it first came to the church's attention. maybe this 9 months is coming from including the entire time u played the character before pk'ing, but u weren't (publicly at least) claiming to be an aengul while u were a living cardinal and running to be pontiff, etc. i don't mean any shade in this but i just don't think what ur saying here is actually correct. u were acknowledged as an aengul right after the church first became aware of any claims that u were one
  16. we need to be accepting more server apps

yeah it's a real app I just don't want to put the CT member who reviewed it on blast

there's definitely merit to being a whitelisted server but I'm a staunch supporter of a more liberal application process, because good lord I cannot wrap my head around why we're denying or even pending new players over things like pedantic details in their backstory or for their hair or eye color or their skin quality. who does this benefit

      Zhikarta

Usually the apps that are being denied are actual league of legends/whatever third party universe apps. In my case, I am denying people too that clearly haven't put in any effort or are trying to get in as super ninja tyoe characters.

All pending-denied apps though are people not making the requested changes. Ct apps are FAR MORE liberal in their requirements as opposed to a few years ago.

My point being, in most cases (read: most) the denials are justified as the players are just tossing in meme apps. That being said, player retention isn't only solved by "accepting more apps". I'd even argue the apps that I personally (each CT has slightly different standards) are the players you also know won't stay for more than a week, as the server is not what they assume it to be.

Ai checkers are dumb though they aren't reliable in most cases

idk what the apps that are getting directly denied are like, but putting apps on pending for pedantic reasons is just as bad as denying them

imagine coming back to ur app a day later to see the "pending" period for some trifle, which may or may not even be legitimate at all (green eyes???), was exceeded and you'd been denied. you wouldnt bother applying again

  17. Except you already said it wouldn't happen. Just like you already said every resource selling for 1 mina doesn't mean deflation (https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/246636-realms-update-100-land-selection/?do=findComment&comment=2095322 You have a habit of making incredibly stupid statements in the most condescending of ways, but you can save the sarcasm for people who are far brighter than you.
  18. True. I should clarify - there's nothing wrong with tavern RP, monologues, or narrative emotes. The trouble is people who reduce RP to solely these things, and with feigned offence reject the idea of (any, or just regular) players having the right to actually DO anything in the world. Some of these types are now on-board with nations getting to war each other and the like, which was a hard-fought victory for types like me, but they will only accept that for NLs and not for the average player, who absolutely should not place or break blocks without express permission of the aforementioned. Otherwise he is to keep his hands away from his mouse and purely on his keyboard. This situation was even worse in 2020-2022 or so where the rules, and thus the majority opinion of these types, was that even inter-nation conflict was horrid and detestable. Thankfully, we've moved on from there, purely because most of these people are lemmings and pretend that whatever the rules currently say is their own heartfelt opinion, but it remains a problem that a large portion of this server are utterly and implacably opposed to the idea that any player be allowed do anything that doesn't involve an application or badgering an existing NL. I also pretty much never built anything in freebuild maps. But I enjoyed a dynamic and breathing world enabled by it. I occupied an abandoned fort built by someone else I never knew, I RP'd in cities built at natural congregation points only freebuild allowed (prebuilt capitals are always located far away - for fairness). I witnessed towns and nations rise and fall organically. And on rare occasion I did build a farm or fell a few trees as necessary, either to feed myself or to gather resources. These are all natural ways to influence the world around you without even particularly trying, just through playing Minecraft. And it gives us things to talk about when we go to the tavern to RP afterwards. But to some (many) people, playing this game we all bought is a great offence which must never be permitted. And here we are.
  19. This is just fake news though. Skype groups really weren't common until Anthos or late Asulon. Teamspeaks were popular before that, but being a primarily voice-based medium, it wasn't used anywhere near as much and you could only communicate with people who were actually online. /t *bird* was used a lot, but naturally also required you to be online. Offline communication was mostly done through PMs on the forums or books left in chests. And even when Skype became popular - you had a single channel which most people muted. No calendars, no event schedules, no #announcements, no pings. It was useful for metarallying but not for event organisation or anything like that. As for grooming, I'll take your word for it, but I joined the server at literally 10 years old and was never at any point witness to anything like that. There were less rules to ban this sort of behaviour (for example, cybering was only explicitly banned either at the end of Aegis or sometime in Asulon), but again I never witnessed any of that stuff even in Aegis, and to this day Discord ERP still isn't banned, so I think it's 99.99% about what circles you interact with rather than what the rules explicitly state.
  20. All the builds are lovely, but these stand out the most. This is the kind of soul you only get in an organically developing map - never to be seen in the dollhouse LC pasted worlds we've had since, where you're welcome to look around at what others built off-server (and in many cases, were paid to build), but not ever to interact with it, despite that literally being the purpose of this entire game, which we all bought under that premise. Anti-freebuild types should just forum RP and use ChatGPT to generate pretty pictures they can "ooh" and "aah" at if they don't give a shit about interactivity, dynamicity, or just life in a world, and instead just want to sniff farts while competing to see who can write the most adjectivally-overloaded emote. Atlas was objectively a success as a map. Why do we have to pretend it wasn't? Because some people are paranoid that letting people play Minecraft will convince them to build something ugly that will somehow never be removed? People can already do that - all they have to do is get one NL to sign off on it! How much of the game must we sacrifice in the name of protecting people from ever seeing builds which don't appease their warped sensibilities?
  21. or you know, vibrant hubs which shaped the server for years after, like belvitz or curon
  22. 99% of the ppl against freebuild have never actually played on a map with it tiles are retarded and you guys need to find a game other than eu4 to play discord is terrible precisely because it's great for organising events. event spam totally replacing and eliminating spontaneous and emergent rp was a disaster for the server. events should be rare and substantial enough that forum posts can advertise them. also u dont need 50 guests at a wedding between 2 nobody 3rd cousin scions of a baronial house, and if u want them just use the main church of a city at peak time and ppl will crash it. in fact u can do that for most types of event activity checks suck because they create too much fake rp like the above wars last way too long. way too much stalling (should be forced to have a warclaim every weekend unless it's a major international holiday) and fighting tile by tile is too much. you should be allowed to just march in a straight line to the capital. then give vassals the option to revolt and keep fighting or be subjugated too.
  23. The main advantage of being ST is you all run around in /godmode 24/7. Unrelated but I think this debate over whether different staff can or can't be NLs would be much easier if staff could just take a leave of absence to play one rather than having to go through the whole rigmarole of applying again once they've PK'd. Obviously for the Admin team there are limited slots, but I don't see why it should be an issue for any other team. Tbh it's always dumb when some guy posts his 10th GM application (he took a 2 week break from Minecraft the other 9 times). If you left a team in good standing, you should be allowed to just msg the team lead asking to rejoin.
  24. We are begging and pleading with you to please update the totally OOC and metaplay-demanding region/nation rules, which have literally no basis in RP and force interactions like yours to happen, and your response is "to what extent should we ensure only non-staff are forced to metaplay?" Your ****-up was not that you wanted to understand the vague and IRPly unknowable outcomes of an RP deal - although I agree obviously that admins should avoid being (regent) NLs - it was that you preside over a ruleset that forced you to do that in the first place. The solution here is not to continue to force regular players to do that.
