  1. Investigate! Sorry for the long-time-no-see, been busy with stuff. Back now! ^_^
  2. J'Ranar confirms his signature on aforementioned declaration.
  3. If you wish to ask who the current ruler of Ragadorn is, turn to 141. - Any foreign man could know this. If you wish to ask the name of the river that divides Ragadorn into east and west, turn to 159. - This would be easier known by a local than a foreigner, but there is a possibility that they just looked at a map and saw this river. If you wish to ask the name of the tavern in Barnacle Street, turn to 234. - There is a chance that this man was passing through the town and came to this tavern, but more local knowledge is required than either of the other questions. I guess its all up to chance really. I go for 234.
  4. There are a few errors in your application - the biggest of which is the definition you have used for your power-emoting definition - but since I shall have to give you the benefit of the doubt over a small error in the in-depth analysis you referred to I shall attempt to strike a deal with you. You see, the question used to be: "In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is". the problem with that was power-gaming has quite a few too many definitions which caused quite a large headache for applicants who struggled to find the correct meaning, and thus it was changed to "Power-emoting" which was, to say the least, quite a bit more specific. However, when I updated the guide I failed to note that I had left the wording in the explanation of the question as "Power-gaming", and thus your confusion arose. I shall contact you in a PM to ensure that the correct definition of power-emoting is know by you as to avoid any... unnecessary situations in the future. But your skills in roleplaying as well as your grip on the English language both are far above average, so without further ado... WELCOME to Lord of the Craft! :) Accepted.
  5. I enjoyed reading your application, but currently it is not a standard which I can accept onto this server. I do see quite a large amount of effort put into this application, and potential for you to become a great roleplayer so I shall attempt to be as in depth and specific as possible with my feedback. I am very sorry, but your application has been moved to the denied section of the forums. There are numerous reasons for this, all of which I have included in my feedback below this message. In the mean time there is an abundant source of information, stories, guides and other helpful tips to get you on your way to being accepted; all you need to do is look around. I would suggest the lord of the craft wiki and application submissions section of the forums to start off your little quest to make the best application. Good luck! The reasons that I have denied you are: Your have used incorrect formatting of the application. You've messed up the BB code less than half way down which makes it difficult to discern question from answer. Thus, I would like you to fix this. If you don't know how then please just send me a message over the forums and I shall give you detailed instructions so that these errors do not occur in the future. Your grammar makes sections of your application hard to understand. Your spelling and grammar is not exactly a strong point of your application. I would like you to spell check your application first, and then later read over it at least once to make sure that you've corrected your grammar. Such things as including full stops and commas in the correct places, as well as using the right words in the right places. RPGs or Role-Playing Games are not RP’s. Games such as World of Warcraft, Skyrim, Rift or similar do not count as Roleplaying as there is no person to person interaction within a Roleplaying scenario (unless of course you were on a Roleplaying server in which you need to explain where and how you role-played to show your understanding of the term). I would also like to point out that with a name such as "fluffypanda" you probably were not on a roleplaying server or you were roleplaying incorrectly. Please do note that roleplaying only constitutes roleplaying if you are IC through the interactions. Your definition of power-emoting is incorrect. In lord of the craft we use an RP definition of power-gaming, rather than an RPG definition. While these may seem like the same thing, we can loosely judge that an RPG definition would fit in with games such as World of Warcraft or Skyrim, and the RP definition would fit in with games such as D&D or other person to person Roleplaying. Please do not confuse the definition we use to the definition that other Roleplaying groups may use, relating to creating a character which is too powerful, or doing an “overpowered” action; this is not the definition we use. To make sure you have the correct definition you can either have a look at the Lord of the Craft wiki, or by joining our Team Speak channel (send me a message if you need help getting started) and asking an experienced member. I would also like you to include an example of the term as it demonstrates your understanding of the concept. You need to have a character last name. Unless you have a specific reason for why you do not have a last name of your character, you need to write a last name to show that you have put some in-depth thought processes into developing and creating your character. Your biography needs improvement. At the moment it is... barely acceptable. It shows rather standard use of server lore (Which is okay!) but from your biography, your skills at creating stories or other roleplay-like situations is rather lacking. The story itself, while perhaps fitting in the server's theme, is portrayed rather basically without much form of justification. This is the "Why's", why did this happen? The reasoning behind the actions of the story. What is this "Infamous Plague"? Where does it come from? Why is it in the city? Why are Elves effected so? Why would pine needles and raspberries help at all? In my person opinion the whole idea of having a loved one then having a unknown, unsubscribed and rather spontaneous plague wipe them out is fundamentally flawed. This is a single example, go through your entire biography and attempt to making the story more realistic and flow more. If you need further assistance please contact me. Some or all of your answers to the Open Response questions need improvement. Instead of describing what your character would do, you need to assume that your character is in the situation and acting as they would in that situation. You need to describe a scene of RP. This means that you cannot write “If this happens, then my character would do that.” As this shows that you are not Roleplaying, you are answering the question from what you think that your character might do. You need to show us that you know who your character is, you know what the situation is and you know how your character is going to react. This also means that you need to write in full RP. For example: We expect that you write in full RP and that you write a full paragraph or more for each question. If you have any questions about my feedback, or would like to create some constructive criticism about the way I give feedback (I.E am I being TOO blunt, or am I coming across rude) then please send me a message! I take all questions, none are stupid! :) You are not allowed to apply again for a full 24 hours.
  6. Good luck! The reasons that I have denied you are: Your definition of Roleplaying is not what we are after. Your current definition of Roleplaying displays to me that you do not fully understand what Roleplaying is all about. It is either too short and needs expansion, or it contains information which goes against what Roleplaying is all about. Please go back and so some research as to what Roleplaying is. I needn’t remind you that this is a Roleplaying server, if you do not know how to role-play or do not show evidence that you are keen to learn how to role-play I suggest you find a Minecraft server better suited to your needs. You did not give valid examples of RP, or you did not describe how your examples are RP. You need to give us specific examples on how the games or locations you have talked about pertain to an RP environment. The majority of your metagaming definition is copied from Wikipedia. I'll highlight some words you need to pay attention to in the metagaming question. In your own Words, define what I hope that is clear enough. I would like you to write a definition which is longer than a single sentence, perhaps closer to three. I would also like to see you include an example (of your creation) so that I can properly gauge your understanding of the concept. Your power-emoting definition looks so plagiarised it's not funny. I'm not even going to google search for your answer there because I know exactly what I shall find. Instead I shall be lenient and say: Change it, else you will be banned from applying. Please remember to write things IN YOUR OWN WORDS and not hitch hike off the work of others. The other criteria I mentioned for the metagaming definition also apply here. You need to have a character last name. Unless you have a specific reason for why you do not have a last name of your character, you need to write a last name to show that you have put some in-depth thought processes into developing and creating your character. Your biography needs expansion. Your biography is by far too cliché. Having parents or villages kill/destroyed by bandits/orcs is overused and not creative. This is a role-play server and therefore a creative server in the sense that you have to use your imagination to function correctly. For you to display this in your application it needs to have unique elements. Currently your biography is more of an overview or a dot pointed list of the happenings of your characters past and present. You need to make it flow similar to a story. Explain your character in detail. You have not included any (or much) lore from the world of Asulon or the lore you did include contradicts that of Asulon. I recommend that you do a lot of research as to what you race is and how they act, as well as towns and places that you could use in your biography. I would also like to note that the entire server escaped from Aegis about 25 in game years ago to move to Asulon, I suggest you do some research on this point. Do note this is not Skyrim, Real Life or Lord of the Rings, we have our own universe with our own races. For ideas and lore you can look on the Lord of the Craft wiki (link on the main page), the Role-play or History sections of the forums or better yet; talk to the people themselves. Just join in our Team Speak channel and ask around! We welcome new people :) Your story does not make too much sense. Your biography is not substantial enough. You need to write more about your character, write more detail and more depth. If your biography is less than two paragraphs long or is a bit too short it will be automatically denied. You need to write a minimum of two paragraphs (which in themselves must contain at least five full sentences). You need to complete the entire biography, detailing all your characters history, age, personality and description. We also like to see little role-play quirks such as habits like the constant brushing back of a fringe, or the scratching of an itchy palm. Every single thing in your application must have a justification. For example: Your ambitions are underdeveloped. You need to show some advanced thought processes. What would your character like to do in the near and distant futures? What is your character planning? You also need to justify your decisions. Why does your character want to do this? Things such as planning to kill all bandits, orcs, humans etc. are unacceptable ambitions as this would require a villainous activity. Your answers to the favourite tool/best skill questions are underdeveloped. You need to justify why you have chosen the choices you have. It is all well and good that your character can run really fast, or is light on their feet; but why? You cannot, I repeat CANNOT be of "creeper-human" origin. First of all I don't even want to know the genetics of a creeper, but I do know that scientifically speaking that is impossible as they would have different chromosomes in quantity as well as their genetic makeup. Secondly there are no creepers in Asulon. In regards to your skin. http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot Perhaps the link that was in the application format would assist you there? Some or all of your answers to the Open Response questions need improvement. Instead of describing what your character would do, you need to assume that your character is in the situation and acting as they would in that situation. You need to describe a scene of RP. This means that you cannot write “If this happens, then my character would do that.” As this shows that you are not Roleplaying, you are answering the question from what you think that your character might do. You need to show us that you know who your character is, you know what the situation is and you know how your character is going to react. This also means that you need to write in full RP. For example: We expect that you write in full RP and that you write a full paragraph or more for each question. You powergamed and godmodded. One does not simply kill bandits. You need to write some REALISTIC rp. Chances are these bandits will kill YOU/knock YOU unconscious. Bandits are players and are very powerful characters. If you are by yourself in-game and you try to just kill bandits you will be banned for no-rp killing (read the rules) or at the very least completely destroyed by the bandits whom have had a lot of combat experience since they are BANDITS. We encourage RP pvp on this server, which means each party will demonstrate their actions through emotes. When responding to this situation you need to write DETAILED and DESCRIPTIVE responses. This means no "slices through the bandits neck" but write what your character aimed for, how much force he put in, what weapon he was using, how the bandits responded, what tools they are using, how they used them, how they blocked/parried/dodged, their skills and abilities. You have so much to write, this is what we expect of you. This is the BEST roleplaying minecrat server and as such you need to be on par with the rest of the server in terms of RP skill. Those who display sub-standard RP skills should not be allowed onto the server lest they make everyone else's minecraft experience bad. If you have any questions about my feedback, or would like to create some constructive criticism about the way I give feedback (I.E am I being TOO blunt, or am I coming across rude) then please send me a message! I take all questions, none are stupid! :) You are not allowed to apply again for a full 24 hours.
  7. The more the better, that's how it is with Lord of the Craft applications in any case. A brilliant read! :) All I can say for you to improve upon is to include quite a substantial bit more lore in your application, but you are obviously a competent roleplayer so without further ado... WELCOME! Accepted.
  8. I have decided to deny your application, and as this is your fifth out of a maximum of five (5) applications within 3 months, you are not allowed to apply again for another three (3) months. This means you will be unbanned on the 30th of October 2012. The reason you have been temporarily banned from applying is as follows: Your first application was on the 17th of July, it was then denied on the same day. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/63274-captain-vanirs-application/page__p__494255__hl__pokefan418__fromsearch__1#entry494255 Your second application was on the same day (my time, it may have been a different day for you) roughly 15 hours later. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/63376-my-2nd-application/page__p__494866__hl__pokefan418__fromsearch__1#entry494866 Your third application was posted the next day roughly 12 hours after your previous on the 18th of July. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/63450-my-third-application/page__p__495345__hl__pokefan418__fromsearch__1#entry495345 Your fourth application was posted three (3) days after your third on the 21st of July. The current date (in my time) is the 29th of July, meaning you waited eight (8) days after your fourth application to post your fifth on a different forum account. The total time spanning between your first and fifth application is 12 days. As you can see, the time period of when you posted your applications is well within the three (3) month mark. There were many reasons for your denial; many of which display that your roleplaying skills just quite up to standard for this server as of yet. Whilst you have improved rather substantially from your initial application, this application has still not demonstrated the capabilities of a player that we are looking for. However, after 3 months are up you may re-apply and all past applications are wiped. This means we will not take any of your previous applications into consideration when you re-apply; a fresh start. I would like to include in my denial of your application that I habour suspicions that you deliberately created this account to bypass the five (5) application limit. If this was not the case your old username is as follows: Captain_Vanir_Of_Solace My first discrepancy with your application arose with your answer to the "Power-emoting" question. I quote: I have highlighted in red your errors. The words in green are correct, but are not substantial enough to warrant a full definition as we requested. It seems to me that you do not fully understand the term "Power-emoting", and thus I cannot accept someone onto the server who does not understand this term, as they are liable to become banned. This is something that I am sure neither of us would like to happen. This is where your application begins to differ from what is actually like to happen. How does a 17 year old boy drive off bandits, while his parents (which I assume at least one of them was more experienced in combat than your character) died? This doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You also said that "He only survived", are we to take this as "Only your character survived"? If so, how did everyone else die? Surely your character isn't the "Best swordsman in the village" at a mere 17 years of age? You even say yourself he isn't a good fighter later on, and this is when he is older and presumably stronger: "He is able to swing a sword, but he isn't much use in battle". Why? What possible motive could Vanir have to do this? Why would a Mayor kick someone out of a village for having (perceived) inadequate skills with blacksmithing? Wouldn't he rather just not use the boy as a blacksmith? How could he possibly have heard that if he trekked for 5 months? How did the news travel and get there before he did? Or I assume by the way it is told, the same time? So, let me get a run-down of your skills. You are a good blacksmith, wood cutter and miner? That is all well and good, and you are allowed to choose these if you will, but you do not seem to be consistent with your character. You have never mentioned once in your application (before the questions which you mentioned it of course) that he cut down trees or that he went mining. Only ever blacksmithing. You need to explain these things in your application or your character just doesn't make sense. First of all you don't need the "/screenshots" folder to take a screenshot, depending on your operating system there are many ways to do it. Secondly we cannot accept you without first seeing your skin. Many and more errors I found with your open response answers. I think the most outstanding out of all of them would be The very essence of the word "reward" means someone gives to you, not the other way around. Why would you assume that your character would have had to pay anyone anything? I am extremely sorry that you cannot apply any more. If you feel that this is in error, or that for any reason it is unfair (such as not being giving accurate/correct feedback) then please message me or the leader of the application team "Danny ~". Just type that into a messenger and he will reply to you within two (2) days usually. Good luck! :)
  9. You need to re-copy the application format. Make sure you have copied the text from the white box and not anywhere else. Also make sure that you do not delete anything in [these square brackets] as they are vital to keep the colour, boldness and size of the text. If you are having trouble because your entire application turns out in funny colours, make sure that you are writing your answers on a line underneath the question, as this is a common error and can mess up the formatting of your application. Your definition of Roleplaying is not entirely correct. Your current definition of Roleplaying displays to me that you do not fully understand what Roleplaying is all about. It is either too short and needs expansion, or it contains information which goes against what Roleplaying is all about. Please go back and so some research as to what Roleplaying is. I needn’t remind you that this is a Roleplaying server, if you do not know how to role- play or do not show evidence that you are keen to learn how to role-play I suggest you find a Minecraft server better suited to your needs. You did not give valid examples of RP, or you did not describe how your examples are RP. You need to give us specific examples on how the games or locations you have talked about pertain to an RP environment. You need to expand on your metagaming definition. Currently your definitions are very basic. You need to write more than just a sentence or two. You need to really describe what these things are and how they relate to role-play. Also remember to never plagiarise and to always include an example to display your understanding of the concept. Your biography needs expansion. Your misrepresent elves. There is a certain set of elven lore which you need to adhere to if you are to play a character of a certain race. Different sub-species of your chosen race also act in a certain manner which I believe you have not adhered to. Please read up on elven lore by either going to the wiki or reading the forums. (I am not referring to height here, more... just how the rest of your character is structured.) Currently your biography is more of an overview or a dot pointed list of the happenings of your characters past and present. You need to make it flow similar to a story. Explain your character in detail. You have not included any (or much) lore from the world of Asulon or the lore you did include contradicts that of Asulon. Try to be a bit more RP in that response, rather than just describing the situations. I love your response to the first one! If you have any questions about my feedback, or would like to create some constructive criticism about the way I give feedback (I.E am I being TOO blunt, or am I coming across rude) then please send me a message! 10. Pancake Island? Isn't that where... we met the eight foot er... natives? With the whole... *motions in big wide circles* Thing going on?

I shan't be needing any further pancakes, what ever do we need from such a locale? The hippo-wheels are rather tired from our last adventure to Muffin Land.

There are very few definitions of meta-gaming so it would be rare that you could confuse meta-gaming with another term. I would suggest that you go back to researching (or perhaps begin to research if you guessed the definition) and find out a correct definition pertaining to Roleplaying. I suggest that you do a Google search for the term, look on the Lord of the Craft wiki or join our Team Speak channel. Please do remember that plagiarising (copying someone else’s work) may warrant you a temporary or permanent ban from applying to the server: so don’t do it! On many of your responses you lacked any roleplay at all. Do remember that this is a roleplaying server, so you need to assume your character is in this seen and roleplay it to at least some kind of conclusion, rather than ending it at something your character introduces themselves with, or using ambiguous out of character emotes which do not portray your character very well. If you have any questions about my feedback, or would like to create some constructive criticism about the way I give feedback (I.E am I being TOO blunt, or am I coming across rude) then please send me a message! I take all questions, none are stupid! :) You are not allowed to apply again for a full 24 hours.
  13. Let us tap this blaggard on the back and how him just how fast we can run away when he turns around with his creepy skeletal face and all that jazz! Woo! (I say 128 it up!)
  14. I have decided to deny your application. First of all I would like to welcome you back to Lord of the Craft. Its good when old veterans return. Sadly times have changed and what is required to join this server has... somewhat changed. I would really appreciate it if you would read all the stickied threads. Would you be able to also send me your previous MC name so I can check the credibility of your statement relating to being an ascended on this server? What you need to improve on: Your definition of "Power Emoting" needs improvement. Whilst your definition could be stretched to be part of the definition we use, it is not quite there yet. To make sure you have the correct definition you can either have a look at the Lord of the Craft wiki, or by joining our Team Speak channel (send me a message if you need help getting started) and asking an experienced member. I would also like you to include an example of the term as it demonstrates your understanding of the concept. You need to have a last name. Unless you have a specific reason for why you do not have a last name of your character, you need to write a last name to show that you have put some in-depth thought processes into developing and creating your character. Your biography is by far too simple and in need of expansion. You did not include enough about your characters past, rather you just explained your character’s personality and/or description. For example: Your answers to the favourite tool/best skill questions are underdeveloped. You need to justify why you have chosen the choices you have. It is all well and good that your character can run really fast, or is light on their feet; but why? We request that you embed the screenshot of your skin. Look here for reference: http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot All of your answers to the ORQ's are inadequet in terms of length and RP style.
