  5. Elysia's eyes roam over the notice board, then light upon a certain notice regarding housing and jobs. Her interest piqued, she hastily pulls out a scrap of parchment and quill, then carefully pens a reply. "Greetings, and well met. I am newly come to Malinor, and am seeking employment and a place of residence. I would prefer to work in the fields, but may also inquire about archery lessons, for even a simple farmer must be able to defend themselves and their family. As I am single, an apartment will suffice to meet my needs. If this is agreeable, please send me a bird ((DawnSt4r)). Many thanks for your consideration. Carefully and securely pinning the note among the others, she gazes at it critically, then nods slightly in satisfaction before turning on her heel and walking off to explore the rest of the great city.
  6. I'd like to live among my own kind, while still being able to meet people of other races; to work towards the greater good of the whole, and not merely for my own gain. Do you agree to adhere to the rules of Malinor: Yes, I do, for they are quite reasonable. Skills: Farming: 32, Cooking: 21, Herbalism: 20, Swords: 7, Archery: 15, Lumberjack: 9

  10. Greetings and salutations! I'm new here, so just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. My name is DawnStar, but you can just call me Dawn, as all my friends do, even in RL. :P I'm fairly new to Minecraft, only been playing for about 2 months, but I can honestly say I am an addict. However, while this will be my first RP server, I am no stranger to RP, having been RPing in some way or fashion online for almost 6 years, at least. I am a bit older than most I've seen around here, being the ripe old age of 30, am a mother to a wonderful 6 year old girl, am majoring in equine science and management, with a minor in creative writing. I'm hoping to be able to join this wonderful community, and look forward to someday meeting and roleplaying with many, if not all, of you. I really don't like just going on about myself though, so if you want to get to know me, or have any questions, feel free to ask. I promise, I don't bite. . .much. ~Dawn
  11. Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: DawnSt4r How old are you?: 30 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT -7 Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, native speaker. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm an avid writer, and got into roleplay about 5 years ago, and have been hooked ever since. I also have a passion for music, the outdoors, and horses. I do tend to be shy at first, but warm up quickly when I get to know people. :) How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Probably at least 7, but we'll say 5. Of course, I'll try to be on as much as I can, so this is the lowest estimate. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: To me, roleplaying is when you immerse yourself into a character of your creation to engage in live, interactive storytelling with a community of other people and their characters. You become your character, feel how they feel, think as they think, speak and act as they would, all through written words. The best form of roleplay is when a person can create and become a character whose traits are not merely a copy of their own, but rather a different entity altogether, with different beliefs, personality, and ways of interacting and reacting with the world and people around them. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have about 5 years of roleplay experience, and yes, I mean actual RP, and not RPG's. This will be my first foray into minecraft RP servers, however. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-gaming occurs when, whether intentionally or not, a person plays their character as though that character had access to or has knowledge of OOC information, knowledge that the character would not have, or have access to, at that point in time. While such an occurance is easy to achieve for someone new to RP, it is to be watched for and avoided at all costs, for it cheapens the very roleplay experience, and, in many cases, may even give the character an unfair advantage, which they did not earn, and is cheating. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: Power-emoting, also know as power-gaming or god-modding, is when you play out a scene or sequence without giving the other players/characters a chance to react to the actions of your character. This is inexcusable, as it involves taking over, however slightly, other players characters, deciding how they will, or will not, react to what your character says or does. This is cheating, cheapens and ruins the RP experience for those playing with you, and is, under no circumstances, acceptable. Ever. In your own Words, define what Out of Character (OOC) is: OOC, or Out of Character, is when you must say or ask something that your character would have no reason to say, or even have any thoughts or knowledge of the matter. If you must do this, and there are specific channels for such discussions, use them. Otherwise, private message the individual plaer/s you need to speak to, and avoid interrupting the flow of RP whenever possible. In your own Words, define what In Character (IC) is: In character is, as implied, when your character is speaking, acting, or reacting to their environment, other characters, etc. IC is the vessel by which the majority of roleplay, the story progression of your character, and the characters of others, takes place. What do you expect this server will be like?: From what I've seen, read, and observed, I expect this server to be a hardcore RP server, of the fantasy genre, with a dedicated and mature player base. I also hope that the players are as friendly and welcoming in integrating newcomers as they seem to be. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on Creation Nation, Vanilla Craft, Mad Realms: TSR, and a couple of others. I still play on Creation Nation a little bit, but mostly, I've left other servers because they weren't well put together, or lacked certain elements that I'm looking for. A couple, I left simply because I didn't feel like I really belonged in the community. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, several times, and I will probably refer back to them every so often, just to make sure I'm not stepping out of bounds or making any infractions. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes, of course. It would be foolish to apply, otherwise. How did you hear about us?: I did an RP specific search on the minecraft forums. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: No, this will be my first, and hopefully only, attempt. In-Character: Character Name: Aerialia Ealovathar What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Elf What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): High Elf Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Fifty years earlier Faeliel struggled through the dense undergrowth, the trees of the ancient forest reaching unseen heights above her head. She paused to rest, leaning against the side of a magnificent oak, it's bark rough and pitted beneath her delicate hand, the other wrapped protectively around her distended belly. The horror of the destruction of her homeland, the devastation the war with the Undead had left behind, was still fresh in her mind. Worse still was bearing witness to the murder of her husband just a few months after their arrival in this new land called Asulon. She had only just escaped, having hidden behind a thicket. If not for her delicate condition, she would have fought by Daeron's side, however, their unborn child had to remain in the forefront of her mind. Devastated, torn by grief, Faeliel made her way deeper into the forest, intent on finding shelter, hopefully in a nearby settlement or village. All this had occurred 3 weeks prior, and she had long ago admitted to herself that she had no idea where she was. It was so easy to get turned around in a forest if you didn't pay close attention, and regrettably, in her state of grief and loss, that's the one thing she hadn't done. Now, it was too late; time had run out, for the child would soon make it's way into the world. Long hours passed, day turned to night, though wracked with pain as she birthed her child, time seemed intermittent. Finally, as the dawn lightened the sky of a new day, it was finished, and a wave of relief and joy washed over her at the first cries of her newborn daughter. Wrapping the child in cloth torn from her garments, Faeliel held the child close, and whispered to her, "You will be named Aerialia, and you will be a great symbol of hope and joy to our people. Conceived in the death throes of our dying homeland, drawing first breath in the dawning on the new, you are connected to both, in ways that may never be fully known or understood." The strenuous birth had greatly weakened her, and she paused to gather breath before continuing. "May you be blessed by the ancestors, that you find your true path, and may you always remain healthy and progress towards greatness." She then tenderly placed a kiss upon the babe's forehead, and softly ran her hand over the silken silver hair, looking down into wide, violet eyes; her father's eyes had been the same color, though a few shades darker, and it gave Faeliel comfort to see their daughter had something of him. Smiling for the first time since her husband's death, she fell into rest. It was midday when a pair of huntsmen came upon the mother and her babe. Attempts to awaken the mother failed, as she was near death. Knowing they must get her and her babe to the care of a healer, they concluded there was no time to go for help, for it was a full day's travel to the settlement. So, they prepared a liter, gently laid the two upon it, and made their way, as quickly as they may, to their town. It was well after dark when they arrived, but still it didn't take long for a healer to come and assess the situation, then direct the huntsmen to his house. The healer tired endlessly into the night to save the woman, and at first, it seemed as though he might succeed, for she awoke. Sadly, however, she was beyond saving, though she did awaken long enough to give her caretaker the name of her child, and ask that she be cared for. Then, with the knowledge that her daughter would be looked after and cared for, she slipped into eternal slumber. Not knowing what else to do, the healer took the child in as his own, for he himself was a widower, his own wife and young son slaughtered by the Undead before the migration through the portal to Asulon. Present Day Aerialia stared down at the travel pack laying on her bed, then looked around her small room one last time, pale lilac eyes taking in every detail, storing the memories for later recall. This day had been long in coming, and yet she was reluctant to leave the only home she had ever known. However, remaining here was, sadly, even less tolerable. Although loved and accepted by all in the village, she'd never quite belonged, never quite fit in with the Wood Elves she had come to know as her family. She had always been a little too proper, and had often suffered from feelings of superiority, though she'd always end up feeling poorly about it later. Although she wasn't quick to make friends, the ones she had were true, and were the few, aside from her father, who got to see the true Aerialia, the girl who had a mischievious sense of humor, a passion for music, and a great empathy for others. However, she also had a knack for getting into trouble, usually for minor pranks. She also had a wicked temper when riled, and was slow to cool off, though to be fair, she was equally slow to anger in the first place. For years now, she'd had an itch under her skin, a feeling that she was meant for some other place, for something...more. There was a tugging that reached clear down to her soul, and grew harder to resist with every passing day. Brushing her long silver hair out of her face, she bent down and lifted the pack, turned, and left the room, entering the common area of the home. She paused when she saw the man she called her father, standing by the front door, waiting to bid her farewell. Taking the last few steps, she stopped in front of him, looking nearly eye to eye, for though she was only barely six feet tall, he only topped her by an inch. His deep emerald eyes were filled with many emotions, sorrow, joy, pride, and love being but a few, though the easiest to pick out. She knew her own violet eyes probably reflected much the same, and she summoned a smile, trying to appear brave and confident. With a knowing smile of his own, Sydrien pulled her to him in a brief, loving embrace, then held her at arms length. "You will find your true path, Aerialia, never fear. But always know that if you ever have need, you will always be welcome here," he said, his voice unusually rough with emotion. Pulling her close one last time, he kissed her lightly on the small, silvery starburst birthmark on her forehead. Aerialia's eyes filled with un-shed tears, turning them a deep, dusky violet. "I will always remember, father," she whispered, unable to speak more for the lump in her throat. With one last hug, she turned and walked out the door, into the warm late spring morning. The birds were twittering merrily in the trees, the breeze rustling the leaves, making an enchanting accompaniment to their song. Looking over shoulder one last time, she smiled and waved, then started down the road that would lead her out of the village, knowing that somehow, somewhere, it would lead her to her destiny. What are your Character's ambitions?: To find other High Elves such as herself, and to find her true path in life, whatever it may be. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Although she has some skill with both sword and bow, as her father insisted she learn both, she prefers the latter for most situations. It is also her best weapon, as she often used it to hunt game to supplement the food they grew in their small field. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Aerialia has a talent for growing things, and a natural empathy with animals. She also sings beautifully, and can often be heard singing to herself as she works. Or perhaps she sings to the plants, who can say? A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): (Will be getting a more appropriate High Elf skin soon) Other Information about your Character: Open-Response-Questions Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP. Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Aerialia made her way down the road, having just passed by the Cloud Temple earlier that day. It was now near eventide, and she was keeping a lookout for a likely place to camp for the night. As she rounded a bend, she came across a disturbance further up the road. It was a halfling, and he was being accosted by two armed men, warriors by their garb. As their intent was obviously not of goodwill, she drew her bow, knocked an arrow, and sighted down the shaft. Then, in a clear, ringing voice, she called out, "Hold! Back away, if you value your lives." The first warrior growled, "Oh? And what are you going to do about it?" With that, he reached for his sword, drawing it and menacing towards her. "I shall not warn you again, sir. Walk away now, while you may." The second warrior snickered, looking totally unconcerned, certain his comrade would quickly dispatch the elf. The first warrior continued his advance, a nasty grin twisting his features. With a quick, sure motion, Aerialia drew back, and released her arrow, not at the warrior, but at his sword. A clear ringing tone rang out as the arrow struck it's mark, knocking the sword out of the warrior's grasp. Before the shocked man could recover his composure, she had a second arrow knocked, ready to fire. "I say again, sir, desist." The warrior, however was enraged, and charged her full out, murder in his eyes. Without further ado, Aerialia drew back and released. The arrow flew true, piercing the warrior's sword hand. He stopped his assault, grasping the wrist of the injured hand and howling in agony. "Now, leave this place, for I assure you, my next shot will be aimed at your heart. Have I made my point clear?" she said, giving the warriors her sweetest smile. The second warrior, who had not moved from his post by the Halfling, the petrified. The first warrior still looked murderous, but he backed away, back towards his companion, and together they left, their mumbling easily heard. The Halfling dusted himself off, then made his way towards her as she put away her bow. "Thank you, dear lady, for you timely interference. How may I repay you?" he asked. Aerialia smiled ironically and said, "I merely happened to be in the right place, at the right time. I'm sure any other decent person would have done the same." She started to continue on her way, then looked back, saying "Just try to stay out of anymore trouble, hey?" With that, she continued down the road, now more eager than before to reach an inn. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Glancing quickly, though thoroughly, over the man's wares, she look's up and smiles. "How much for the amethyst pendant?" she asks. She glances over her shoulder, noting that the sun was quickly edging towards late afternoon, and she soon had to be on her way. "Ah, that little trinket? I couldn't part with it for less than 150 minas," the merchant said, puffing up slightly. Aerialia deftly hid a smile, knowing full well how the game was played. "150 minas?! You mean to rob me, sir, for it is not even worth 50," she said, slipping easily into haggling. They bartered and haggled back and forth until, with the merchant looking somewhat bemused, agreed to a price of 60 minas. Pleased with her success, Aerialia bid the merchant good eve, and walked away, heading for the inn she was staying at, intent on getting a good night's rest and an early start in the morning. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: She had been traveling for several weeks now, and had not come across any inns for the last 4 nights, so stumbling across the small hut seemed like a blessing. It looked abandoned, and the moth eaten, slightly moldy bed and blankets, and the cobwebs in the corners, gave evidence to that fact. However, at this point almost anything would have been better than another night on the hard ground, so she rolled up her sleeves and got to work cleaning the place up a bit. she gathered some fresh rushes from a nearby stream, and used those to replace the questionable bedding, then lay out her bedroll over that. Settling in, she gave a sigh of contentment, for the bed of rushes felt as though it were a down mattress compared to the unyielding, cold ground. She awoke to the early morning sun shining through the broken glass of the single window. After she had put everything back in order, she looked around once more, then headed out, making sure to close the door behind her. It had never even occurred to her to open the chest in the corner, and it's dust remained undisturbed. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? "Hail, and well met," she said in reply, pausing to rest before continuing. "Do you perchance have any food you may spare? I have a few minas, not much, or I could repay you with a song or two," she said, smiling charmingly at the man who'd addressed her. The trader looked her over, noting the dust and wear of long travel, and perhaps took pity on her, for he said, "Ack, no charge, we've plenty to go around. However, if you be in the mood, a song or two would be most welcome, for we've not the talent for music." So, the night was spent in easy companionship, the simple yet hearty meal followed by singing and banter around the fire, long into the night. When Aerialia woke the next day, and was preparing to leave, one of the traders, a woman named Milly, came up to, and offered a cloth wrapped package. "Tis not much, jus some bread and cheese, and a couple of apples, but hopefully it can last ye a day or two," she said, smiling shyly. Aerialia was touched, and smiled at Milly. "Thank you, that is most generous. I appreciate it," she said, and quietly slipped a couple of minas into Milly's hand as the food was exchanged. Smiling at the surprise and pleasure on the woman's face, she turned and headed back to the road, ready to continue her journey. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Aerialia was packing up her things, preparing to leave, when she heard the commotion. Moving to the window of her room, she peered out, and upon hearing the news of bandits, she turned and, snatching up her bow on her way out, went to find the commander. Upon finding him, she walked up and said, "I'd like to offer my aid, if you'll have it. I'm merely passable with a sword, but I'm a fair shot with the bow." The commander looked her over, and noting her stance and confidence, gave his consent. Without further ado, Aerialia followed the others out, prepared to meet the threat and, hopefully, help vanquish it. Anything else you would like to say?: Oh my, I do apologize for the length. ^^; I wasn't expecting to write that much, but I tend to get caught up in story. Anyways, my thanks for taking the time to read and review my application.
