I've decided to publish my complete plan for Holm's renovation. It has been told to Hiebe and approved, for the most part, but some recent decisions will require his approval.
Remember: Do not undertake any of these plans or steps to them without speaking to me. I will not have everybody going about their own personal ideas.
Project 1: Underholm Living Quarter
We need places to house our citizens. This area will be the second-highest level of Underholm.
The area will have five halls, a central Upper-class hall, two Middle-class halls, and two lower class halls. This will be done to keep a symmetry of the area. I've drawn a diagram roughly detailing my idea.
I'm not an artist, but that's the basic design. Each hall will be the exact same as its' opposite. Do not attempt to dig a new tunnel unless its' counterpart has already been done, or you will get something wrong.
For now, work in the pre-existing tunnels to excavate plots. Each of the two halls currently has a template home completed, just make sure you dig a new one to its' exact dimensions.
Section Steps:
1: Excavate remaining tunnels.
- One middle-class tunnel has been excavated, follow it EXACTLY from how it is, only on the other side of the upper-class. I will do the lower-class soon, do not attempt to do one until the first has been finished.
2: Excavate Houses
- Follow templates exactly in all regards. Each district will have a different template
Project 2: Overholm Trade Road
This will be a road starting at the docks, and ending at where the watermelon farm used to be. Its' course will start at the docks, and hug the fort's hillside, going towards the Underholm Tower. It will be quite closer to the hill than the current road is. It will connect to the underholm bridge, and branch north-east to the area where the chapel is currently and beyond. The road will be done by myself, Hiebe, and some architects.
Section Steps:
1: Remove current road and remaining impeding structures
-The inn is likely the only structure that will prove an impediment. The owner, however, will be given a new inn in Overholm as compensation.
2: Add a defensive overlook on the hill-side
-The hill next to the road will be steepened, and made as a defensive position for archers to attack invaders from. It will stretch as long as possible, as allowed by the existing hillside.
3: Add shops
- The opposite side of the road will have our shops. Shop plots will be designed by Myself, Hiebe, and architects. Once the road diverges form Underholm, both sides will have shops and the road will ultimately end in a plaza of sorts.
Project 3: The Docks
The docks will be in the same position as they are now. We will have a boat, gatehouse, and a few shop stalls around it.
Section Steps:
1: Redo the Pier
- I plan for the pier to have three ways onto it from outside. The middle one will dip down, so visitors using rafts or smaller boats can enter the city, and two raised platforms for larger vessels, one of each side.
2: Build a new Gatehouse
- A new gatehouse will need to be built. Make sure it looks good and is effective. I'd like to have a room directly below it that will have bookshelves with people who are not allowed in holm, and a room that can work as an access point to the city's Service Tunnels.
3: Build a small plaza for shop stalls
- Where the Trade Road and gatehouse meet I plan for a slightly larger area to house a few small shop booths.
Project 4: Public Square/City Center
Directly north of the Trade road, and east of the docks (Where my home and Hannibal's home are currently), This area will house a government meeting building, the public gallows, and the Inn. The road will end in an expanded square, to be more open as meeting place. Its' center will be a small fountain.
Section Steps:
1: Construct a road from either the docks or trade road.
- The road will either got north from the trade road, or east from the docks.
2: Construct the government meeting building
- This will be opposite the squares entry way. Ths building will be designed and built by Myself, Hiebe, or Architects.
3: Construct the public gallows
- This will be on one of the two free sides of the road.
4: Construct the inn
- This will be on the remaining side of the square. The inn may be designed by Myself, Hiebe, Steve, or architects. When it is done, it will be given to Steve in compensation for losing his first inn.
