The Charity Bandit and his Jolly Men
Deep within Oren, in House Valois land, a charity home
resides. The Charity Bandit runs the charity home, along with his fiancée. Rain
falls, morning is coming. Peace is upon the land. A fire from the stove
crackles, as Alexis is preparing breakfast for herself, her fiancée, and her
fiancée’s cousin. The room is warm, the Charity Bandit is awaiting breakfast at
the table, as his cousin enters.
“Cousin, come close. I must speak with you,” The Charity
Bandit speaks as he turns to his cousin and reclines in a chair. “What is it?” The Veiled Shadow responds.
“Our cause has been very successful so far, but I feel we
are placing ourselves in too much danger. We must recruit followers… Followers
who are loyal to our cause and share the same desire to bring justice to Oren.” The Charity Bandit leans forward in his chair, facing the now sitting Veiled
Shadow. The Veiled Shadow remains silent and looks to the bandit.
“However...” the bandit turns, “It is risky. We must be sure of who we recruit.
One wrong move and we will be caught.” The bandit turns to the shadow, “You will help
recruit, my cousin. My fiancé and myself are going to remain here, and stay hidden. We
are to be married soon, and the last robbery was cutting it close.”
The Veiled Shadow perches forward in his chair, speaking. “My cousin. I will see to
finding some men. Men that are loyal to the cause of purging Oren of its corruption. You stay
here, open your charity home to the hungry, and prepare your wedding. I will take the reigns
for a while cousin. I will bring you men.” The Veiled Shadow stands from his chair, heading
to the door before stopping to turn back. “What are we to call the men, cousin?”
Reclining back in the chair, the Charity Bandit ponders
to himself, going quiet for a moment. “Call them the Jolly men of Oren,” he
responds with a smirk as he stands from his chair, retreating to his quarters.
The Veiled Shadow remains silent as he watches his cousin
egress the room. He turns to the door, heading out into the rain.
