  1. The Japanese Empire - Short Post "This is Kyoto, you are authorized begin settlement. Send the Phalanx1 units to investigate the radiation zones, but keep organics in the safe." "Roger." In the Imperial Palace, a shouting argument had broken out. On one side was a group of ministers advocating sending more troops to the now disastrous Russian Front, while the other almost demanded they accept the stalemate agreement. Japan had been split more often than it had been in the past, but the split brought it growth in belief. The Empress waited until it died down, sitting on her heavily decorated chair at the end of the table. She then stood up, and the final embers of the argument died down. "We wanted to prove a point to the Russians, and we have done so. Our people grow weary, and patience with the war is low. We're pulling out." On her word, the Japanese Empire formally agreed to Russia's terms, pulling its army out of the Russian Main for Sakhalin and the Kurils. The communications arrays on Mars, though accidentally, picked up the British Jovian transmission ((Mod Roll)). When the details were heard, it was instantly patched through the Moon's central systems to Japan's capital, Kyoto. Only the closest advisors of the Empress and those that had passed on the message had heard it, and they made the decision right there. Japan would establish another, perhaps final, extraterrestrial base on a Jovian Moon. The Moon of Earth, Hellas Planitia and its 100-mile surroundings, and the Jovian Moon Callisto have been formally claimed by the Japanese Empire. The Japanese Mission to Callisto begins, with money being moved from bolstering the army to building another rocket. It would have an extra set of boosters attached and be more efficient than its Inner Solar System predecessors. It would be well stocked, at least enough for a base that could last until a supply shipment is sent. ((Mod))
  2. The Japanese Empire In Russia, the Japanese army that had pushed hundreds of miles inland through the gray backdrop of Russian Asia began to pull back. Their retreat was characterized by the utter destruction of previously taken bases, and many living in small towns that had been displaced are taken by the Japanese army to populate the Sakhalin Prefecture, where the process of integration begins in quaint towns built in preparation by the government. The countries that made up the Japanese Prosperity Sphere had, over the last decade, been almost completely integrated - their new generation spoke Japanese fluently at the least, and all businesses and streets had Japanese translations under their native names. With their integration, the various new prefectures are given local governors. In Indonesia, one particular man named Asrul Kapur is quickly and efficiently elected and he begins to use his knowledge of the area to boost its production. The family of one long dead Maurice Ward is paid 10 million dollars worth of yen for the Starlite secret, its half-century old miracle coating, which is immediately mass-produced and begins to coat the ships of the navy and airplanes. With it, a laser of up to 10,000 degrees Celsius could be effectively blocked, meaning that the Empire could try to force a conventional arms battle - something it excelled at. It is also put in paint to help fireproof houses across Japan, and other countries would probably quickly notice the "Starlite Infused" captions all over Japanese paint products. The home front had prospered in the face of war, but on the battlefield, a different face was shown. The Japanese air force, superior to that fielded by almost any other country, shot across the Pacific theatre of the War on the Union. The F-3 Sakura flew fast enough that railguns couldn't pinpoint it from outside of their own range, could resist most lasers, was proofed against electromagnetic disturbance, and was equipped with the fastest missiles the budget allowed. The infantry and marine forces of the Imperial Military begin to be equipped with ballistic shields coated in Starlite, and the enemies of the Japanese would find themselves facing against what could be the most modernized ground force in the world. The navy, after being refitted, begins a full scale invasion of Hawaii. South Korea is politely asked if it would like to join Japan's Empire as a semi-sovereign nation with the same rights as Malaysia - as long as it teaches Japanese in school and recognizes Japan as its liege, it could be almost completely self governing. Internationally, the Empire's top General, Asakura, issues a press release. "We do not seek to take North American soil. We seek to defend the sovereignty of a nation attacked by its dishonorable brother. We seek to remove the influence of a fast-crumbling American Empire from Asia. We seek to uphold the prestige of our Empire and its people. What we are doing in Russia is different. We are saving who we can from their disgusting government and bringing them to the safety of the Japanese Empire. Their leaders sought to destroy, but we seek to build. We seek to build a new society. My Empress sees in the world a crumbling ruin, and has taken it upon herself to give its people another chance. It is for this reason we launched an expedition to the Moon, and for this reason we launched another to Mars that will arrive in days. May our tradition bring salvation to those oppressed. May the Rising Sun usher in a new era." Mod Needed: Long overdue Mars landing Russian war South Korean vassal attempt

  4. The Japanese Empire The five astronauts looked sidelong at each other from the upwards facing multi-ton Japanese rocket. The one female among them gave a thumbs up as the countdown began, and their captain smiled. Behind the cockpit was supplies, a quick-build base platform and the five PhalanX1 units assigned to the mission. The Mars Colonization Rocket launched from its platform near Sapporo, and if it lands the PhalanX1 units will be sent to look at the surroundings of the landing and the astronauts will begin to set up their small base. ((Mod Please)) Over 600 km to the West, the Japanese army once again waded ashore to the burnt ruin that was Vladivostok before the war began. Artillery shells imploded on the beaches as Japanese soldiers rushed for the city's command posts. The commanders had planned their attack for the moment Spring began again, and the army was committed this time with fur and wool coats covering the LAS suits worn by the Japanese, who had been in a state of warfare for what was now bordering on a decade. The Japanese navy, however, sits on repairs in Sapporo. Japanese Moon Base Neo-Kyoto The base's construction was complete, and the Oxygen carried up begins to pour in. Commercial flights to the Moon on the Skylon jets used normally to transport materials begins, with a cost of 84,500 yen per kg, or 330$ per pound. While exorbitant, the rich could now go on a luxury visit of the Moon and enjoy feeling its low gravity, looking at its mostly white-gray environment, and brag that they were in space. A small restaurant sits in the base, a sushi and noodle shop that does knife tricks only possible in low gravity. Research into integration of mechanical networks into the nervous system begins on convicts on death row, which would allow an external connection into hubs - essentially, a way to facilitate both a sensory-overriding VR system and a way to near-instantly communicate with the internet. In final form optical fibre instead of cabling would be used on the machine itself, preventing possible shutdowns by EMP and other radio wave transmission devices. It would also come with multiple failsafes and outs that would make certain that users wouldn't be able to be hacked or killed using it. ((6 pages)) Japanese AA and slightly out-of-date railgun models provided by the USA continue to be built sparsely along the cliff coasts of Japan, so that the tragic Russian missile bombings would never be allowed to repeat.

  6. The Japanese Empire Flight Engineer Hideyoshi watched over the construction of the Japanese drilling site and fortification. Below, automated drills were continuing the shape of a huge circle-and-rays, while cranes moved iron plates into position. Every once in a while, a small quake can be felt as another automated Japanese rocket filled with titanium hits the Moon near the base. They had been working for a year now and the work was nowhere near complete, but when it was finished, he was sure his country would have full control over the Earth's satellite. At the same time, air raid warnings sound over not a city, but the Japanese navy. As the ICBM bombardment begins, the hundreds of flak carriers interspersed in the group launch at the missiles, and while most are destroyed, the navy still loses some frigates. High Command is contacted, and an order goes out. The Australasian offer is happily accepted, and while Japan requests no military help, it asks for relief volunteers to help with damage control efforts in the Japanese main. The admiralty has realized heavy damage will begin to be sustained from its high-density grouping and begins to spread out its ships, interspersed missile defense systems going all along the coast until the navy's length is that of Sakhalin to Japan itself, and sets up to intercept any further Russian missile strikes. Japanese cities permanently turn on missile defenses and assignments, and nuclear reactors that haven't been damaged are turned back on in an attempt to get the power grid back up. Air raids stop on Russian cities and begin on potential Far East ICBM launch site areas. The Japanese Mars mission and Moon Base have reached their halfway points, with Japanese control slowly but surely being spread across the moon. The Reclaimers are sent the 11.95 billion dollars in payment, the money coming out of what would have gone into another navy upgrade - the Empire obviously believed itself to have full control over its resources in the Pacific at this point. While the PhalanX1 modules aren't pried into, they're repainted to black and minor modifications are done to make sure the units are nearly silent, and five are equipped with long range recievers. Ten of the other twenty are moved to Japanese High Command and the other ten are taken directly to the Imperial Palace, where, while sensors indicate they are not being tampered with, they are left in pods. Kazakhstan's trade offer is accepted, but blueprints aren't sold and the alliance is put on hold.
  7. The Japanese Empire The Japanese navy lost 30% of its forces in the onslaught against the Russians ((Source: Pok)), and just when the battle was over sirens go off across Japan as missile detectors and defense systems kick in, shooting many out of the sky. The nuclear reactors outside of Sagamihara, Matsudo, and Kawaguchi are still shutting down when they are hit, and the citizens of the cities are quickly evacuated as teams come in to evaluate the damage. While the radiation was not as bad as Fukushima, it would take years or even decades to clean it up enough to be safe again, and the surrounding areas all but shut down. The Empress clenches her teeth before the screen as the missiles had hit, and releases a statement internationally. "The Russians have, once again, altered the lives of the civilians of their enemies. Instead of launching rockets at the opposing armies, they launch the rockets at the opposition's families. Instead of fighting with honor, they stab those that are being protected. And for this I will let it be known that Japan will not be at peace with such a monster until it is vanquished." Winter was on the horizon, and the troops that had taken the Russian coast, Sakhalin, and the Kurils are packed up and sent back to the Japanese main. The generals weren't stupid - they knew that a few months would only bring Russia untrained recruits, and that the experienced Japanese soldiers shouldn't be wasted. And so the Japanese fleet docked at Sakhalin and Sapporo, and the army regulars were given a few months leave to see their families. In Vladivostok, Kharbarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and all other large cities in Russia's Far East high-flying bomber and fighter squadrons begin to mass bomb the cities, attempting to stop potential recruiting and any mustering of soldiers there. They also bomb industrial and civilian districts, with the Russian government being sent the message "You bomb our people, we bomb yours." Meanwhile, the Mars Project continues, nearing about 33% completion. Reclaimer Corp. is sent a request to purchase 25 of the PhalanX1 modules. The Japanese Empire also claims full control over the Moon and its resources from its half-finished base, Neo-Kyoto.
  8. The Japanese Imperial Military The Admiral Yoshitsune Makahara stood on the bridge of the JIN Sōryū submarine, where hundreds of pings continue to go out around the sub. They're all marked in green, and had all just left the ports at Sendai and Sapporo, where they had loaded the Japanese Army. Many, many anti-naval drones and AA are scattered throughout the massive Japanese navy, which could almost be called a floating city of steel. Demographics of the Japanese Imperial Navy (JIN): The navy sets off, the drones immediately being launched at the Russian Pacific Fleet, and the fleet itself bombs then attacks the Russian Fleet, trying to catch them off guard in Vladivostok where the Russians are docked. Japanese bombers and fighters also launch attacks on the Russian fleet at the same time. The army transports, kept far behind the action, land on Sakhalin and the Kurils, establishing Japanese dominance over the lands and claiming them for Japan. After that is finished, and if the Japanese navy wins, the army loads back on and lands on the Russian mainland, moving to take Vladivostok and other holds in the East. Navy formation: 55 Destroyers 50 Corvettes 3 Aircraft Carriers 30 Frigates 50 Mine Warfare 200 Flak 150 Drone Carriers 1,300 Auxiliary 1 Aircraft Carrier 10 Destroyers 22 Corvettes With the 25 submarines interspersed underwater. The Empress goes on public television, standing tall and looking straight at the camera. "Today we are at a crossroads. For over a century we have been at war with Russia, and while tensions had cooled thirty years ago, it is my duty to uphold our alliance. This is not the anger of the Japanese, this is their hatred."
  9. The Japanese Empire The Japanese Moon landing and marriage a simultaneous success, the country that had been through what many consider the most strife in the past decade could finally smile. The thousands taking to the streets and going to the festivals were met with rows of stalls boasting games and food. In the Imperial Headquarters, though, their Empress paces back and forth in thought. They had been the first in a decade to land on the Moon, and would be the first to start drilling into whatever was there. But that wasn't enough. A new rocket begins production, to be launched to Mars. ((Pok plz/6 pages)) The Japanese mainland sees an increase in production of hybrid or completely electric cars and many gas stations continuing to be converted to recharging stations. Solar panels dot the roofs of houses and wind turbines are erected throughout the countryside. Nuclear reactors continue to be in service and some are even built, but they are built with much more defensiveness in place to make sure it doesn't melt down or leak. The navy is sent to dock at their various designated ports, and while maintenance is done only coastal defense craft continue to patrol the seas. The navy's designated port is Sendai, on the Japanese main, and the majority of the navy is docked there. Japanese railgun research halts completely, and the scientists are moved to the various mechanical improvement sectors of Japan, where they work on increasing electrical output of turbines and solar panels. High tech satellites would be able to see that the Japanese appear to be drilling into the Moon and setting up a base the shape of the rising sun close to the Moon's Rheita Crater. The lunar base has begun to be set up. ((Mod please)). The Baltic Federation and Brasilia are sent large investment offers in sinking oil wells, in return for slightly lower than median-priced oil.
  10. The Japanese Empire A wedding of massive proportions was about to be under way - one afforded by the treasuries of not one, but two Empires. The Crown Prince of the Empire of China was to be married to the Crown Princess of the Empire of Japan, and festivals and fireworks displays are held all over the realms of the two nations. There was no lack in expenses; these were two of the most powerful nations in the planet, whose will dictated the movements of unseen chess pieces. And their future rulers were about to be married, meaning that any child of theirs would rule both. Leaders or representatives of the following nations are offered a chance to join in the wedding itself, so long as no weapons are brought: The Empress of Japan issues the proclamation that the couple, when married, will keep the House names of their of their lineages, and any child of their marriage will have the family name "Tang-Yamato" until inheritance. Leaders coming to the marriage are allowed to bring three guards, and from the airport in Kyoto will be brought by limousines surrounded by guard cars to the site. The Japanese nation internally benefits from trading done with the rest of Asia and globally except for what it deems economically-disgusting nations such as Russia, and its cities are called "technological paradises" by experts in the rest of the world. The NCR spy manages to climb to a low official rank, but his prodding has kept him from climbing any higher. He might soon be subjected to an intense interrogation about his past, should he keep it up. The Japanese Espionage Initiative continues, with the spies beginning to be sent to the Americas and Europe. They had been instructed on how to act, been taught to fluency in several languages, and their pasts were completely fleshed out, down to the details of their elementary school crush. They're sent money through ghost accounts and moved into the countries through a multitude neutral airports, doing their best to make sure they're not caught. The Australasian offers are accepted, New Guinea being traded in its entirety for lower-cost shipments of Uranium and agricultural products. It is given with the message that the Empress hopes that this will clear the tension in the region. The NCR is warned that if it should move troops through Eastern Bloc waters in the Pacific, the ships will be gunned down. Malaysia is guaranteed that Japan will not interfere with its independence, so long as Malaysia becomes part of the Japanese Prosperity Sphere - meaning that it would not be able to form alliances with outside nations, but would be allowed self-governance and a standing military, alongside other national rights. ((Mod)) Japan begins work on railgun research in an effort to catch up with the norm. ((Mod Please)) It also begins work on general engine streamlining and upgrades in an attempt to increase vehicle speed and mileage. Japanese Permanent Lunar Base Attempt: 5...4...3...2...1... "We have liftoff." Five rockets launch towards the moon, carrying the preliminary oxygen, fuel, freeze-dried foodstuffs, water, and other necessary tools, with one comparatively massive one carrying the plan's lynchpin - the materials, such as buildings drills and metal rods, to build a base on the Moon. This project, which had cost Japan precious researchers on other engineering projects, is hoped to establish Japanese dominance over something most other countries didn't seem to be gunning for. ((Mod))
  11. The Japanese Empire "My Empress, the Australians have managed to take our friends in Tonga, who hate them, under their wing." The Empress stands from her command chair, infuriated, but catching herself, she calmly speaks, "They would dare to encroach upon us? For this, they will have to answer to me." The Australasians are sent a list of demands: -Release the once sovereign Polynesian Islands. -Remove all foreign troops from Australia. Japan in turn will not invade Australian soil. -Submit to the hegemony of the Eastern Bloc in Asia. Australasia will be allowed to stay in TRAC. -End railgun retrofitting. If these demands are not complied with, the Japanese Empire will proceed to send its navy and airforce towards Australia, and once in range, attack the Australian navy with its anti-naval drones and veteran ship-ship combat captains. The airforce would launch from Japanese Indonesia and launch air raids on all 480 of Australia's serviceable airstrips. It also threatens to embargo any TRAC nations it currently trades with and pull out all Japanese companies, severely weakening the economies of TRAC nations. It also threatens to enforce a blockade in the Pacific, preventing American powers from moving their navy through it. ((Also, there is no way in hell you tripled your airforce and navy and on top of that quintupled your army. I don't want to be that guy, but I'm going to have to call you out on that, because not only would they have to be built with a defense budget of $26,000,000 a year (which is also spent on current upkeep), you also couldn't have had the upkeep budget to have that large of a military force.)) The Japanese Empire asks that Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei join the Empire to defend against the Western scumbags to their South. ((Mod)) The NCR spy would report that the Japanese nation has been bred to love its leader with a passion, and that recent Australian movement has led to what can be described as anywhere from discomfort to radical hatred of the Australians. He is the only spy to successfully make it into the hyper-exclusive Imperial faction, the others being found out and killed or never being accepted in the first place. From a lowly minister, he learns that he will have to infiltrate Japanese Imperial High Command to learn the reasons behind its movement. Japan orders a massive increase in naval size, large amounts of destroyers being built with the titanium and iron imported from its protectorate-states. More F-3 Sakura model planes are also built, and Japan for all intents and purposes appears to be gearing up for war. A batch of 100,000 troops are currently half finished with training. The few Japanese-born Caucasian children begin to be trained to be effective assassins, diplomats, and spies, while being taught fanatical love for Japan. This would not reach offshore, and in most cases, the parents themselves are told that their children were either abducted or disappeared.
  12. The Japanese Empire The Imperial Compound in New Tokyo was bustling with generals and ministers. The new troops had had their half-year of intense training, and the Imperial Japanese Army was reborn. The recent acquisition of massive stores of titanium and iron from Madagascar after its puppeteering ((decided by d20 by Sneaky)) allowed the Empire to churn out F-3 Sakuras and newly acquired AA and Anti-Naval drones from India, along with the LAS equipment for its troops. If Japan went to war again, its enemies would find themselves facing perhaps the most modern army, navy, and airforce in the world. Its people are sophisticated and their country rebuilt to glory not seen since the advent of the 20th Century World Wars. Tradition built them and would continue to contribute to their rise. For at least the time being though, a rush of economic changes are pushed through: -Japanese technological assets in American countries are sold, and blueprints are brought back to Japan or destroyed. Japanese factories are stripped of equipment, which is promptly sailed back home. -Japanese stores in Africa outside of the Middle East close at an unprecedented rate, expatriates moving back to the Japanese main. -Indonesian and Filipino populaces of the Japanese Empire begin to be taught Japanese, in a hope to repatriate them to the Japanese cause. Any navy and airforce not destroyed in the fighting are consolidated into the Imperial divisions, but troops are not forced to continue and instead are recruited again and undergo the Japanese training regimens. -Government bonds are heavily advertised in the country, increasing investment in the Throne. -Madagascar's puppeteering leads to its old government being reinstalled and left to self-govern, a small regiment of just 100 Japanese troops staying as a skeletal defense force. The Armada of Japan begins to form off of Tokyo Harbor, a massive blob of ships being repaired, retrofitted with Indian AA, and equipped with anti-naval drone launchers. Composition: The Imperial Army, being sufficiently replaced by regional troops in Indonesia, is recalled to the HQs in Japan and Taiwan for a number count: Finally, the aeronautics departments of the Empire are counted at the various airbases: The Japanese Empire appears to be refit for war - it's equipped with the best that its government could get it, and its equipment powered by oil that appears to have come from nowhere. The populace is fueled by propaganda cleverly hidden in anime and billboards in city centers, painting Japan as well as possible. Japanese NEETs continue to join the training corps, and are joined by their new Protectorate counterparts. Research continues on finding more efficient ways to run engines. Russia is warned once again that joining in the brewing war will result in a war with the Eastern Bloc.
  13. The Japanese Empire 175,000 good Japanese soldiers and sailors were lost in the offensive in Indonesia. The Japanese use of its naval and aerial supremacy had allowed it to isolate the outer rings of the Indonesian defensive areas, but heavy casualties were still sustained. These losses meant that 325,000 Japanese had been lost over the course of the past two years - a calculated risk in heavy expansion, but a necessary one. While 300,000 more had been fielded over time, the recruits were still in training and couldn't be risked in the field, meaning that only half of the usual Imperial army was still up to scratch. It also meant that Japan wouldn't be attacking any of the other Southeast Asian countries for a while, at least by itself. So for a long while, Japan would spend its time consolidating its land. The army is garrisoned within newly acquired territory to put down rebellions across the various islands, and the rebels in the Philippines and Indonesia are blocked into the islands they inhabit. The two new territories are given their old governments back which are installed as "Protector-Governors", subservient to the Japanese government, which hopes that with little Japanese meddling the newly conquered people would be less inclined to fight. On the Japanese main islands, though, the country flourishes. New Tokyo had been finished and people moved back in, and the trade with its previously hostile neighbors gave the country a much-needed break from economic troubles. The CSA's oil deal is accepted, large amounts of oil beginning to be purchased. At the same time, Japan begins to put pressure onto Madagascar to join it, sending a formal threat. ((Mod)) The Logistics-Armor Suit, LAS, is finished and implemented on Japanese soldiers and police. While only using light plating that couldn't catch quite as many bullets as its competitors', it had assisted movement and a next-generation holographic HUD that allowed for communication with command in an instant and various indicators of damage, ammo, and a satellite-boosted image of the current area. The suits also come with a coolant and heating system and state of the art battery cells, and transport vehicles are now equipped with compatible charging stations and small generators. Production is instantly put on high for this as blueprints for the suit and weapon connection are sent to India and the CSA. Base: Police Desert Warfare
  14. The Japanese Empire The National Report is made by the Empress. "We have overcome the shackles put on us a century ago by the States of America, and grown to defend our rights. For the first time in a century we needn't worry about an attack from the mainland whilst being unable to defend ourselves. Let us mourn for our lost loved ones and rejoice in prosperity." The Philippines had been ready to submit, fearing for their lives. The Indonesians, not so much. The Southernmost Philippine islands soon become almost swamped with rebels, and part of the Imperial army is sent in to clean up while the rest begins an invasion of Indonesia. The Japanese commanders knew a prolonged war was in their favor, Imperial bombers dropping large payloads on Indonesian ships and the Imperial navy itself engaging the Indonesians. ((Pok Approved annexation + war)) The Memorial of the Lost is finished, 160,000 names and faces put down on the four sides of a slowly scrolling monolith in a beautiful park. They would, so long as the memorial stands and people remembered the toll of the war, be remembered by the people of Japan. The rebuilding and modernization of Tokyo, to be called New Tokyo, is half finished. Help offers from India and the CSA are accepted, dropping research time down to ((2 more pages, Pok approved)). They are both promised the plans when it is finished. The Air force orders 40 of its sixth generation fighter - the Mitsubishi F-3 Sakura. This had been made possible by the advent of the 2018 ATD-X Shinshin, Japan's first domestically made stealth aircraft, and would make Japanese aeronautical military technology on par with American. The NCR's trade agreement offer is put on hold until the USA accepts the NCR's treaty, so as not to accidentally anger the Americans. The Commonwealth of Africa, The Islamic Caliphate and The Arab Confederation begin to see Japanese shops popping up in their large cities, selling games and other technology-based products. Protectionist policies will lower the amount of these found, but they still come up. Work on modern space suits begins and the large Japanese aeronautics facilities begin work on a spacecraft's blueprints.
  15. The Japanese Empire ((Pok Approved Victory)) Through the broken city of Tokyo the Imperial army marched. Their war against their anarchist brothers finished, both sides marched together in a parade. The Army had lost 150,000 men total - half of all of the original Japanese troops - but the Imperialists had won. The Chrysanthemum Throne was safe in the hands of Empress Aiko, and to celebrate and mourn the troops marched their solemn march through the half-destroyed city. Confusion still rocked the city, those who had lost their families to the bombings or the front crying openly, a sight taboo at all other times. Yes, she had won and protected her father's policies, but at what cost? Her prideful husband, Asakura Tomo, one of the top generals of Japan, sat on top of his tank as it rolled through Tokyo. He had fought against his cousin in the war, who had survived but been humiliated by the dishonor. He stepped off of his tank as it rolled by a ruined residential complex in which a small child wailed for her parents. This, the price of war in the aftermath, was what he hated about war. Death tolls among civilians were incredibly low, as both sides were Japanese and no cities were looted by the armies, but there had been enough to make a noticeable impact on the city. He picked the six year old up, sat her on his tank, and continued on. Tolls in the Civil War of Reversion: The Minister of Finance in Japan immediately begins to funnel money into a large memorial in Kyoto near the shrines, and the rebuilding of the government buildings in Tokyo. They are built to resemble ancient Japanese buildings, but with modern amenities and stone walls so as not to burn down. He also begins to reestablish trade in the previously rebel-held cities. In Indonesia and the Phillipines, the Japanese fleet and Taiwanese fleet simultaneously, without warning, bomb forts and disembarks the Imperial army on major cities and the forts. The Japanese had joined the Asian Blitz, and hoped to force the two nations into early surrender. The nations are both offered full rights as Japanese citizens and to keep their governments reclassified as sector leaders, and are warned that if not Japan they will likely be destroyed by somebody else, the government specifically pointing out the Chinese occupation of Indochina. ((Mod)) The Japanese lend one of their three aircraft carriers to India, filled with experienced pilots and their fighters. It is accompanied by two destroyers. The army begins large recruitment and training campaigns to restock the Japanese army manpower. Conscription begins on a small scale, all NEETs and societal misfits being put into special regiments with intense training programs. It also begins to build up the navy on a large scale, so that it will be at least its previous strength. The leaders of the Congressional Rebellion are forced to commit suicide or kill each other in a room recorded on television. The one that shot Naruhito, though, is tortured before being quartered and burned by the fiercely loyal Imperialist officers. Officers that had joined the Congressional side are forced to reswear oaths and demoted to lieutenants or lower. If they do not, they are executed for treason. The families of the traitors, however, are more or less left alone with condolences about their husbands' stupidity. The Japanese back off of American owned islands in the Pacific, a formal apology being made with the excuse that the Japanese had thought the USA would be unable to protect the islands and would appreciate the assistance of Japan. Japan continues to invest some of its money in expanding Japanese companies' influence in Africa, many building mines and shipping materials back to Japan. The Japanese begin to change the models of military suits - parts are exchanged, a vastly upgraded version of Microsoft's 2016 Hololens is incorporated, and the soldiers are equipped with light armor plating. The suit would be mechanically assisted to make sure the soldiers aren't too encumbered by the extra armor, and would be used as mostly logistical replacements. They knew one of their biggest advantages is their technology, and they seek to keep that gap. They also begin to research upgrades to their guns, increasing accuracy and shooting speed.((4 Pages, Pok Approved)).
  16. The Japanese Empire The armies of the Empire were in position, the Imperial regulars, Taiwanese, and Chinese readied up and given orders. An artillery barrage shot from the Imperial side towards the Congressional encampments signals a massive charge, hundreds of thousands of troops beginning the Storm to Tokyo, as they are backed up in the air by the Imperial Airforce and Tokyo Harbor comes under heavy fire by the Imperial Navy. At headquarters in Kyoto, the Empress watches the commanders shouting orders with a grim look on her face. The digital board showed the push beginning, and losses were estimated to be even or worse throughout. Her backers were willing to fight and die for her, and this was definitive proof. Her ministers began to draft a restructure of Tokyo and other cities that had been partially destroyed by battle, costs estimated to be in the billions. They didn't look worried; their confidence in numbers and tactics made them assume the war was won already. She was though, this being her first active participation in conflict. She was scared of losing, and of the ideas planted in her head by her ministers. The Congressionals would kill her like they killed her father, they said. They would destroy Japan for the sake of Western ideals implanted by a general that later wanted to "nuke the Commies back to the Stone Age". So she waited, and watched as every division owned by her faction charged at the brink. Meanwhile, in formerly American owned Pacific Islands and other islands in Polynesia... Small landing crews of Japanese squads come off of their ships, urging the Islanders to join Japan and its sphere. They would be protected by the oceanic power in the East, and would be allowed to keep their culture, and all they would need to do is become part of Japan. [Mod] Trade deals offered by the CSA are accepted, and Japanese mechanical companies begin to purchase tracts of land and build factories near New Orleans.
  17. Japanese Imperial Faction The Japanese commanders quickly report in what they were told by the frontline forces, and the Empress in her Palace meets with the High Command. "They have taken smart defensive positions and attempt to hold out long enough to convince us to take back our reforms. We, though, have far higher numbers and the will of the Kami on our side. Please take care of it." The Imperialist forces respond quickly, their artillery shooting back at the Congressional forces. The Imperialist army, now mustered at Kyoto, begins to march towards Hamamatsu, where it will then regroup and begin an attack on Tokyo. The Navy protecting Sapporo is split and half is moved to Niigata, where they begin to barrage the army attacking it. The Imperialist airforce, including its Taiwanese divisions, use the information that aircraft can fly higher than AA can hit and launch raids on Tokyo Harbor and the Congressional airports, hoping to knock out the enemy's ability to fight back in the sky. Whenever Congressional patrols are met, dogfights are initiated by Imperial fighters. The Navy takes a more forward approach, beginning to engage the Congressionals when they can, and the blockade is removed but the Imperialist ships, accompanied by fighter squads, patrol the area and shoot down any and all ships approaching Tokyo. The police in Imperial territory gets increases in funding, and protests are supported in Congressional land against their starting of a civil war within the oldest monarchy of the world. Firebombs are launched at the government sector of Tokyo from Imperial bombers in an attempt to force the Congressionalists to come to the bargaining table.
  18. Now's a good time to be a human bannerman. Not that it was ever really a bad time.
  19. The Japanese Imperial Faction The cries of the now Empress Dowager of Japan were heard by the prime backers of the Yamato family that day. It was a crime not only against Tradition to kill the Yamato Emperor of the Chrysanthemum Throne, but Kami himself. They would burn for their crime. The Imperial Family is quickly evacuated from Tokyo, being moved to the faction's stronghold in Kyoto. The Yamato army begins to amass outside of Kyoto as the sympathetic and loyal Taiwanese begin to be shipped in. They would soon take casualties in their storm through the Capitol region towards Tokyo, but faith in the descendants of the Kami would lead them to victory. The navy makes marine landings on the Congressional southern island territories, quickly moving to attack any holdings there while the army prepares defenses outside of Kyoto for the time being. The Imperialist navy far outnumbered the Congressional, and they sought to use that to their advantage by blockading the Congressional cities of Hamamatsu, and Sendai, the majority of the fleet blockading and firing at Tokyo Bay. Meanwhile, in the Kyoto Imperial Palace, a hasty ceremony is prepared - the ascension of Aiko to the Chrysanthemum Throne, making her the will of the Shinto religion and the people of Yamato. It was a heavily guarded event, the 26 year old protected by a legion of soldiers and only the most loyal ministers allowed to attend. Her first proclamation gave her father the postmortem title of "Emperor Meiju", in obvious reference to the Meiji of centuries past, and after the ascension she stepped forward and, with tears in her eyes, stepped forward to address the attendees. "My father was a good man. He found roots in tradition and the old ways, and sought to return Japan to its rightful place as sovereign of the Eastern Isles. Those that grovel before the West have taken Tokyo for themselves, hoping to overturn thousands of years of Imperial sovereignty. What they did was unthinkable; never before has a Japanese man slain his Emperor. They are to be cast down before the Spirits and thrown to the deepest depths of the Yomi. What lies ahead of us now is the hardest part. The Taiwanese military remains loyal to us, and our armies on Yamato itself are even with the enemy. We have trapped their navy against the rocks and we have what we need to win. The most important part, though, is that I need your support. We must do all we can to defeat these people that would kill the symbol of Japan itself." The Japanese Imperial Military is halved, what is still controlled by the Imperials is moved to protect Kyoto and the land South of the Capitol region, while those trapped between the Capitol and Sendai are moved to defend Niigata at any costs. The Japanese Taiwan Military begins to be ferried from Taiwan to Japan, in attempt to bolster the Army before it storms Tokyo. The Japanese Imperial Navy loses a quarter of its total force and one of its aircraft carriers, and a blockade double the size of the Congressional Navy is made. The rest move to secure land south of the Capitol region. The Japanese Taiwan Navy moves in preparation of an assault on Sendai. and to blockade the strait between the main Japanese island and the one Sapporo rests on.
  20. The Japanese Empire Emperor Naruhito has recently spoken at a press conference about what his plans for the 2040 decade will be. "Asia is very disparate right now. Russia pushes around the Eastern powers and the Islands to Japan's south are rife with corruption. It is my goal for the rest of the decade of 2030 and the decade of 2040 to improve upon that. I have entered negotiations with multiple foreign states on finding ways to fix Asia, and I think that I see a path." The following diplomatic actions, by the grace of the Tennō and Kami, have been enacted: Japanese deals with the USA are allowed to tick down and end; the political Imperial Party remains cordial with the nation, but the Empire states it would not be in its best interests at the moment to keep outdated pacts. Trade is still almost as free as it was in the 2010's, though. Any troops still stationed in Japan are sent back free of charge to the USA. The Swiss research offer is instantly denied, and Japanese researchers are banned from leaving the country to work for other governments. The Japanese offer for Sakhalin to Russia is taken back, its offer of friendship once again removed. India's offer of an alliance is accepted, and trade between the two open up more easily. A few days after the announcements, a public broadcast shows the Emperor and his family. The Emperor begins his speech with, "My people, today I have two things to speak about. The first is the rule of succession; we must keep up with the modern world, and as such, I am changing the succession law to absolute primogeniture and Aiko, Princess Toshi, will succeed to the throne given any husband she chooses be willing to take the Yamato name. The second is much more somber. For decades we have bickered among ourselves the exact political stance of the Nanking Massacre. I, today, will settle it. It not only happened, but Japan will take the full blame, not some half-witted excuse of war. We are based on tradition and honor, and to lie about this would bring shame to our lines. As such, at the time of this message a reparation bill of 100 billion USD equivalent yen will be given to China in the hopes that relations can one day be fixed between the two. That is all." The Emperor pushes policy after policy through the intensely faltering Japanese Congress until a bill is passed, supported by the majority of all Japanese; the Second Meiji Restoration returns to the Emperor all his traditional rights and expectations. The Constitution is modified, its renunciation of its ability to declare war retracted and its people being more bound to tradition. With the Taiwanese government and old-era Taiwanese people firmly in support of Japan, Taiwan is declared a protectorate and part of the Second Japanese Prosperity Sphere. Its people with bloodlines in Taiwan dating from before 1940 are given full Japanese citizen rights and its schools teach Japanese and Taiwanese language and history, Mandarin and anti-Chinese Mainland curriculum removed. Hundreds of Polynesian and Micronesian island-nations are visited by Japanese destroyers, offered the chance to join Japan's new sphere peacefully. Islands owned by the USA are carefully avoided for the time being. Japan also offers the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and other Southeast-Asian island nations the chance to group to defend against foreign influence. They are promised full rights and the protection of a global power. [Mod] Japanese Imperial Military: Japanese Taiwan Military: The combined navy is currently positioned off of Okinawa.
  21. The Empire of Japan For over 2,600 years the Yamato dynasty of Japan has ruled, unbroken in its line. Japan's technology is superior and its army armed again. The island chain is protected from the sea levels by levees, and little of the downward spiral experienced in the West since 2015 can be seen in Japan. The city of Tokyo has grown further, and rushed government policies has increased the birth rate per family enough to break even, stopping the slow population drop. What has been called the Second Meiji Restoration has begun in Japan, the Emperor quickly gaining traction against his adversaries in the Japanese Congress, and much of the country backs him. The Japanese military has invested heavily in its aeronautics and naval branches, the nation going to significant measures to make sure aggressors cannot land on its shores. Its military, though with very low numbers, is augmented by the technological sector of one of the most advanced nations in the Far East. Japan obviously seeks a defensive policy in regards to its neighbors, its bulwarks far stronger than its offensive armies. The technological sector of Japan has changed with the resources of the world dwindling. Effort has gone into the structure of machinery and government funds are spent on teaching the public the boons of solar and wind power and recycling. Research is done on finding the most efficient sources of power and the best ways to build things with the least resources. On highways in the Japanese countryside the visitor would see more and more hybrid or electric cars, as gas becomes more expensive and electric charging stations more abundant. Its researchers also search for the most efficient way to turn salt water into fresh water, filters constantly being refined and strengthened and water plants being built in Hokkaido. Japan also makes use of its robotics to do the low-level jobs like garbage disposal and street cleaning. Japanese aeronautics, however, are almost all centered on one goal; resources in space. The large Imperial party in Congress constantly pushes for more bases to be set up on the Moon and a colony to be set up on Mars, and many call for Japan to claim a chunk of the Moon for itself. Posters proclaiming "Space is the Future" are seen in many of the streets of Tokyo, and children are pushed towards careers in sciences more than law or domestics. Abroad Japanese companies have started to export its all-use vending machines and set them up in cities across Africa and Asia - Vending machines selling everything from ready-to-eat-meals to clothing popping up across the few growing economic sectors in the world. In terms of diplomacy, Japan has stopped most communication with Europe, its few Western ties limited to ancient treaties held by the USA against Japanese expansion. These are at risk of being broken by the Japanese, though, as the military of Japan screams for it to take the juicy islands of Southeast Asia. Russia is asked for the island of Sakhalin, and in return would gain Japan's alliance and easier trade between the two. It is pointed out that Japan has one of the strongest fleets in the Pacific, rivaling in size even its large neighbor China. The Taiwanese people being pushed around by its KMT government begin to be funded by Japan, in the hopes that the KMT will be taken down and Taiwan will join Japan as friends or, even better, as a prefecture. Historically Taiwanese people had almost been converted to the Japanese culture before China took it back. South Korea is given the guarantee that Japan will assist it in unifying Korea if Japan is given the port of Wonsan upon conquest.
