  1. I hate Nullpointexceptions.

  2. Point taken. Perhaps the process of creating a new town needs to be much more monitored and tough, OOC-wise, through applications and reasoning and such instead? Also, I would suggest a "naturally" formed geographical highway, instead of one built by mortals. Perhaps a wide, flowing river? That was generally how it worked back in the day.
  3. If we were to make a new continent, I think it should be naturally built this time. For one thing, resources would have to take longer to collect (to reduce the urge to over-build, so that we don't create huge towns for only a few people), and the peoples of the world would have to be organized by their leaders and led to slowly collect resources and build new shelter and accommodations. Though the buildings would have to be monitored to ensure a proper style is maintained, the growth of settlement to town to city to capital would happen naturally, each building with a definitive purpose, and each bed holding a person. The nations would grow only if they had the enough of a player base to be able to collect enough resources to grow, thereby removing the possibility of a single wannabe "King" with lvl 100 in lumberjack and mining from performing a marathon spree of gathering, and then building a town all by himself in the middle of nowhere. At best, a day of marathon gathering all by yourself would maybe get you enough for a small, one-floor house. Also, due to the desire for resources, the people of each nation would have to stick together to defend themselves from the other nations, rather than spreading out across the map into the wilds. Just some thoughts, hastily laid out. I realize there are a lot of problems with this, but I think in the long run it would result in a much better distribution of the players and settlements. Also, another major change would have to accompany this to give LOTC the "epic" feel again, some major problem or conflict that the leaders of each nation would have to deal with. That way, it would be interesting to see how they divide their nation's efforts between improving the infrastructure and homes, and fighting the problem.
  4. Just need one more reference for my VA...anybody have then time? ;)

  5. Option 1: Drawn from a hat, but names in hat must go through an intense application process to make sure they're roleplay-and-maturity-ready. Also, EVERYONE NEEDS TO STAY IN CHARACTER FOR THE ENTIRE THING. It'll be hilarious if the rest of the Olympians are normal players and we're all convinced we're Orcs and Dwarves, living in Asulon.
  6. Of course, that too, but my idea was more of an option to solving the problem of all the resources around a city running out. Perhaps entering the close-by city mine should instantly warp you to the mine "interior," in a cave system far far away? That way, whenever the minerals run out, a GM could just switch which cave system the warp goes to.
  7. I have many ideas and thoughts on the subject, but as it is midnight where I am and I have three hours left to sleep, I will say simply this: Consolidate the major cities for each race into one. Move those cities closer together, thus condensing player saturation in the in-between zones. Remove all villages with active populations under fifteen, replace them with roleplay "locations" such as ruins and groves. Take all towns with active populations over fifteen and move them into the areas surrounding the major city of the dominant race in the town. Allow no more towns/villages to be built without extreme need. (note: when I say "areas surrounding," I mean distances similar to the distance between Arethor and Ager in the Oren Empire.) This would serve to both bolster the population of the major towns and cities by adding all the small village populations, but also increase player saturation between the towns and cities of each race, by making them close together. As well, this would simulate a more natural town growth, since towns usually develop around major hubs, as extensions of sort of a city. For resources, there could be specially zoned "mines" and "forests" and the like wayyyyyyyyyyy far away from the cities, so loggers and miners would join companies, and make expeditions by boat or cart to these far-off areas rich in resources, and then tote back great loads of supplies.
  8. Well, I think its safe to say LOTC is once again on a rollercoaster that only goes up. Things are getting better again!

  9. My new villian character has eleven seperate mental disorders, AND an addiction.

  10. I can see the advantages, but I find a lot more disadvantages to having those who abuse the plugin. Perhaps some sort of "merchant" application should be necessary to use the chest shops, similar to the magic or villian applications, but less intense.
  11. I really hate to say it, but that is what I mean. If someone doesn't have time to be online they shouldn't be the ones taking up market space and customer bases. Though I DON'T mean anything about rerolling, because if everyone's making less money, the price of living accommodations will have to be cheaper as well, so I doubt anyone's losing their houses.
  12. I'm one of those people who don't bother with any sort of combat. Due to the fact that we DON'T go out and grind...I hardly ever see a hostile mob. Every city or town I've been to has hostile mob spawning disabled, so this is only a problem for those who live like hermits in the wilderness. And that's what you get for living alone in the wilderness with no survival skills.
  13. Frankly, I think it's amazing that the shop plugin is being removed, and I don't think we should ever get another one. If all goods and products have to be sold IC through roleplay, then only the people who take the time to do so should be rewarded with customers and sales. Why should the people who don't roleplay be rewarded or catered to?

  21. *A parchment poster is pinned up around Asulon* Do you have talent in a performing art? Yes? No? Either way, the Tall Tale Tavern wants YOU to come on down and hit the stage, and take a shot at performing for the guests! While we're happy to have the people of Asulon jump onto the stage spontaneously with no prior notice, there are advantages if you book a performance slot ahead of time! You will get your name on the performance bill for that night, and advertisements will be spread by the Tavern staff for your performance, inviting the people of Asulon to come see YOU! Plus, all booked performers will get free drinks on each day they perform! We're looking for people of ALL talents, whether you're a musician, a vocalist, an actor, a dancer, a comedian, or any other sort of talent! We're even open to fire-dancing, magic, or sword-fighting, so book yourself in now! *The note is signed "A. Gideon." A sign-up sheet is tacked below the poster* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ OOC: Performances done through emotes and speech, SUPPLEMENTED by in-game movement. OOC: To book a performance, either see me (PajosFTW, aka Arthur Gideon) in-game or reply on this thread, IN CHARACTER.
