  1. Andromeda Vandi'ir spent her afternoon relaying the tale of what she had witnessed outside Fort Myrine to her companions, speculating on how perhaps this alleged-miracle was connected to the various other anomalies taking place across Almaris. As much as others viewed it as a blessing, it seemed to only concern the mali'ker. What did this all mean?

  2. Standing at the foot of the smoldering cathedral, the mali'ker Andromeda Vandi'ir stood in silent contemplation. Though she had missed the initial calamity, the elfess had been present for the succeeding spectacle that garnered the attention of what many had thought to be an aengul, sent from the valah-Creator himself. She had her doubts of the being's true intentions, a thumb rubbing over the bronze medallion that hung about her neck.

  3. Adeliza Warlai shudders from within the Princess' tower residence, looking out over the square-shaped expanse of Fort Myrine and greater-Drusco. The youth had already witnessed the deaths of her parents at a tender age. Part of her hoped she might not see such horrible things happen once again, in this new country of hers. The girl made haste for the royal couple's chambers, seeking comfort from her thoughts and this talk of a killer on the loose.

Princess Renata squinted at the signature, then grinned as she pointed it out to her young ward, Adeliza. "Must've written it wrong, hm?" she chuckled as she handed her the missive. "The fruits of the meeting earlier, my dear. This is how it all works. May peace lead our lands to prosperous ages."

The young Adeliza-Gisèle Warlai marvels at the affirmation of peace, having been allowed the opportunity to witness Savoy's own terms being laid out and decided upon just a saint's day previous. "I hope I can be so important like you someday, Princess!" She'd smile then, in awe of her guardian's statesmanship.

Unbeknownst to the girl, her connection to the entire conflict was far greater than she might ever know or comprehend. The universe had blessed her with such ignorance.

Princess Renata read over the missive in a state shock. And then she read it again.

"What the hell?" she uttered from her residence in the Duchy of Drusco.

"I guess I have preparations to make. My dearest brother, finally married."

Adeliza-Gisèle Warlai sat at her guardian's side, taking care not to prick her delicate fingers as Renata instructed her in needlework. The little orphan seemed to brim with excitement at the idea of attending her first wedding as the invitation was read, hoping the Princess of Savoy might bring her along.

  6. The Dowager-Duchess of Adria awaited the safe arrival of her child, aged and embittered by her own failures as of late and praying Josephine might aid in the lifting of her spirits for a saint's weekend. Alas, it was never to come. The imperial remained oblivious from her place in exile.

Josephine Aleksandra prayed for the Presbyter's soul at the shrine to St Judith, the spires of Woldzmir standing tall around her. When she rose, it was on shaky legs. She used the walls to steady herself as she wound her way up to the Dowager's Tower.

"Have you heard the news?" Her voice was hoarse from disuse. "A woman of the Church, slain. If there are those willing to commit such an atrocity... I fear for you, Mother." @MunaZaldrizoti

Charlotte's eyes fell closed, taking in the news of yet another needless casualty amidst all of this conflict.  The Presbyter had attended to her family at the memorial of Philip Aurelian, consecrating his burial ground and speaking against the excommunicated who had dared to step foot there. Now...she was dead.

"I only spoke with her a mere two saint's days ago...she swore that she would continue her work in Providence, no matter the danger," She'd relay to Josephine, "This is how they repaid her." The imperial drew in a breath, "If the person who committed this claims to be of GOD's flock...they follow no GOD that I've ever met."

And so, the Pretender-Empress began to author a public statement on the loss of the faithful and loyal Presbyter, who died hoping to free a nation from temporal tyranny.

  10. "The heir to Othaman, you say?" She queried to her daughter, Josephine, as she aided the Pretender-Empress with sorting through the various missives and letters crossing her desk, "The blood of Mary Carrington, you mean to say," She'd correct her then, that final statement carrying more meaning than she relayed openly. "A child, made to speak on behalf of those who have sworn off GOD in favor of, as the Presbyter said, temporal power. I will pray for him, and for those other children that will likely be made to author such letters. Especially when he must contend with the taint of murder upon his lineage atop everything else."

To the imperial, it seemed murder had become a minor blemish upon a person's character in her stepson's empire. It would not be in hers.

Paco then let out a sad sigh, fearing he lost his new burger flipper to the politicas...

Julia Amadea, resident of Little Ramsfield, gave Father Paco a thumbs up from behind the counter of the Boppin' Scrib. For added reassurance, she flipped two burgers simultaneously!

  12. "May he haunt you no longer, my darling Moliana," Charlotte spoke as the revelations were revealed to the world. The aged Imperial was glad that her children and grandchildren might now have support, in their attempts to be rid of this shadow-dwelling menace that had seemed intent upon tormenting them.

The Doctor received the missive that was placed on her desk, breaking open the seal to read the letter inside. Upon finishing the letter, Dr. Primrose Gendik-Komnenos brought a hand over her mouth in thought. The moment of ponderance passed, prompting the woman to remove a clean piece of parchment and start writing her own letter - poor birds in the past 24 saint-hours must be absolutely exhausted.

    "To the High Pontiff,

I am sure you are getting many letters and missives these days, and without my face you may not recognize me - but we in fact have quite the history. Many years ago, you were the one who excommunicated Arlo Cooper and granted us a divorce - freeing me of the grief and pain that marriage faced me with.

Years have gone by since then, but our paths crossed once more at the attempted assassination in Oren. While I did not help with fighting as I was ill-equipped due to the losses of the war, I was there to treat your wound. I would like to apologize to my harshness to you or those around us, as many people talking and giving advice is very distracting and stresses me out while working - I am sorry that had happened. However, I of course write this letter out of concern and thus following if these concerns are confirmed, asking a favor.

An open letter has been written to you concerning excommunication of Oren as well as specific members that had signed their names on a letter written by Anastasia I. While of course this excommunication proposal will have to be considered by you and it may not be accepted, my concerns grow more by the minute.

First is the question of moral. One should not harm those who follow the Crown simply due to it being their job and survival. Those who live within Oren and signed that letter should not be penalized for something they cannot control. All in all, you will be affecting those who defended you in that assassination attempt and people like Sir Jarad Munnel Vuillerian, whom you've granted great recognition to in a recent missive.

My main concern is not on recognition for treating your wound, but on a specific man. One man on that proposed list - an Arthur Komnenos - is my current husband. A husband much better than Arlo Cooper. A good man who fights for the justice of people just trying to survive in this cruel world. While I am not asking for public recognition, I do ask for a favor that is owed be returned at this time. If this list shall be followed and the excommunications commence, spare my husband.

No person in this conflict of missives is clean of sins, not even I. While the Emperor and Empress surely have their flaws and sins brought forth by the concerns of Charlotte Augusta Novellen, so too is this Charlotte not absolved of sin. I am appalled that this excommunication is being brought upon the people of Oren who must live with their situation and do what is done to survive and are being punished for it, when Charlotte was caught in bed with the King of Urguan during a raid on Urguan in the early days of the war. What greater sin is committing such an act - an act between a husband and wife that is so sacred - and yet was done between a human and dwarf out of wedlock? Where are the cries of outrage for them?

I do not care about the outrage against Charlotte nonetheless, but wish to point out the hypocrisy of the situation. I merely bring this letter asking for a due favor. I hope this letter finds you well amongst the chaos of missive wars and that the wound has properly healed and has left you without a scar.

    GODspeed,

    Doctor Primrose Gendik-Komnenos

    Baroness of St. Lothar"

Dr. Primrose Gendik lifted the piece of parchment from where it rested on the desk to gently blow onto the ink. Once it was dry, she folded it into an envelope as she heated golden yellow wax over a tealight. The wax had melted after a few minutes and she poured the wax over the envelope's fold before placing a wax stamp over it. The wax would harden and the seal be removed, leaving an impressed of a sunflower on the wax stamp. Finally, the letter would be sent off to its recipient - the High Pontiff Everard VI.

Charlotte has an archived missive dispatched to the Baroness St. Lothar, following her reading of this reply to a missive unrelated to her. Though it saddened her to think so many truly believed she had been caught abed with the Grand King, it worried her more at the perverse nature of the Orenian leadership's active imagination. Did they imagine her often, lying with multiple suitors? She was twice-widowed, and a mother. A meeting on potential peace seemed to have spiraled into nothing but some great misogynistic fantasy...that now even her fellow women seemed to perpetuate. Did they so swiftly forget all the good deeds she had done, once her husband's life had been taken?

She dwelled upon these eerie facts, concerned for her homeland now more than ever.

    Spoiler

[This is what would be attached, should she opt to read it.]

  14. Charlotte, as with the other letters, seemed to read its contents with an emotionless face. Perhaps the accusations of harlotry stirred some ire within the aged Novellen, but still she uttered not a word. She knew this was a young man, defending his sister and brother-in-law, as she herself was intent on defending the legacy of her husband and Oren.

And so she added the missive to a growing pile, moving on to the next parchment laid before her.
