  1. The Aureon Ranger would smile as he saw the finished piece. Planting a couple of orchids at the base of the log. "I know you both would have been proud. She will continue with your legacies, I will see to it." He'd set down two small kuila idols, one made out of Blooming Kuila, depicting a Hyssop, the other made out of Inferno Kuila, depicting Cinder.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

If this creature has multiple subtypes, don’t forget to mention your character’s particular subtype here!

    Origin:

Phantoms in all their different forms, shapes and sizes are a curious thing, their origin a source of mystery, even liches or mages & priests knowledgeable are uncertain on how souls manage to stay behind in the mortal realm on their own. Different reasons have been theorized as the cause for these souls to return to our plane, traumatic or violent deaths or unfinished business. The duration of this process is not exact, taking sometimes weeks and others even years.

    Ectoplasm:

Is the material phantoms are made up of, a sometimes intangible malleable substance that can be manipulated by phantoms taking different shapes and serving different functions. One of the main characteristics of ectoplasm is that it allows these creatures to interact with each other and the mortal realm, its appearance changes depending on the phantom.

    Weaknesses:**

Like many things with Phantoms some of the information regarding their weaknesses, how they react or perceive pain is varied depending on their type. Some of the things that are known to be true for all of them is that they don’t feel pain like mortals, instead feeling it more as a sharp but indistinct feeling. Sunlight makes them uncomfortable and can even cause them pain after longer periods of exposure to it, causing most phantoms to stick to the shadows and roam around during the night. The material known as Aurum or Gold, due to its properties and its capability to conduct ethereal energies, lifeforce among them, is capable of causing harm to phantoms, when interacting with them. Solid lines of Gold make impenetrable barriers phantoms can’t cross, while gold shavings or less solid gold lines cause them pain and make it so they lose their invisibility.
Voidal magics* and objects enchanted with it have similar effects on these creatures. Capable of harming them as if they were material beings.

*Other magics such as mysticism, lutuamancy and paladinism affect Phantoms as well.
**Some effects and weaknesses vary depending on the types of phantom.

    Gray Spirits:
Known as well as Revenants are the first stage for most phantoms, creatures who’ve just ‘woken’ from their death and in a state of confusion and uncertainty. Their mental state is a reflection of this. This specific type of phantom is often unaware of their state, and is still getting used to their new reality, often having trouble interacting with the world around them and forced to act more as spectators.

    Mentality:
The uncertainty and confusion that surrounds the nature of gray spirits is often a defining trait of these types of phantoms. Their limited interactions with the world around them show how their muddled minds react with hesitance. Their emotions are prone to extreme swings or ‘episodes’. They often feel helpless or desperate, seeing mortals around them in a similar way to that a mortal might see a gray spirit. Phantoms are known to have one or several mental illnesses, caused by the corrosive nature of their undead state which often consume them until the point where they realize what’s happened to them, causing them to ‘evolve’ or seek to take the next step into their undead lives by seeking the knowledge they had when alive.
    Example:
Ghost Bob would look at the family that wandered through the rooms of his home confused, what were they doing here, this was his home not theirs. He’d try to shout for help, but would not be successful they could not hear him. Were these beings undead? Ghost Bob had heard of them in the mass held by one of the priests in his town. There was something wrong with him. Time and space shifted around him in ways he could not comprehend, why was he not going to work? He was a very important builder for the town, was he ill? Over time he’d grow lonelier, sadder, his mind played tricks on him, seeing things where there were none, hearing crazy things that made no sense to him.

    Black Spirits:
Known by some as Poltergeists this type of phantom denies their nature or the circumstances of their demise, absorbed in the circumstances of their death. This denial turns Poltergeists into feral creatures driven by hatred, anger and the inability to ever be at peace. The Black Spirits are unstable and while not necessarily evil they are often violent.

    Mentality:
It might be easier to find your way through a whirlwind or an endless maze than through the turbulent mind of a poltergeist. Any illnesses evident on the lost revenant now taken to the extreme in the black spirit’s existence. Incapable of accepting their nature and in a similar way to their aspect, Poltergeists have lost anything that made them ‘human’, feeling no empathy for the living. Anything that remains from their original identity mostly forgotten or buried deep within their hatred. Thinking more like a mindless predator, always hunting.
    Example:
Bob no longer looked for answers, he was dead, he knew that but he would never come to terms with that. The chaos in his mind led him to his old working site, he stalked the builders he once called colleagues, hunting them down one by one. If he could not live then they would not be able to do so either. Not even the pigeons, the cats, the dogs or even the children would be spared from his wrath. Anyone that came close to the old building site would perish. This was his new home. He decided that he was alive, and he would live here, and no one would be able to do anything to change that.

    White Spirits:
These Specters as they are also referred to have come to terms with their death and acknowledge their state. Embracing their life and the circumstances behind its end these creatures have reached some sort of inner peace. However, certain burdens from their life or things that are yet to be done keep them from passing on to the soulstream.

    Mentality:
Though the presence of mental illnesses is always there the minds of Specters are far more stable and less chaotic than any of their counterparts. Their nature, often kinder and more benevolent, has led them to act selflessly, in the benefit of others. Sometimes these spirits have acted mischievously but never in a harmful way. Known to be shy or elusive, most specters keep to themselves, knowing full well that their undead nature is not easily accepted by mortals. Not prone to violence or fighting they avoid conflict as much as possible. Their personality is more similar to the one their previous identity had while alive.
    Example:
Bob grabbed his old hammer, the bell signaling the start of a new shift meant his old colleagues would soon be joining him. The white spirit would wave and go to greet them, listening to their tales and experiences of the weekend, how their lives moved on while he remained there. He offered them advice and an ear, helping them where he could. Sometimes when he saw them feeling down he would pull pranks on them in an attempt to raise their spirits.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

    Gray Spirits:
Due to their nature and their uncertain state their appearance is often similar yet not identical to that they had before their death, the wounds or cause of death often visible within their intangible and malleable aspect, their coloring often ranging between different shades of gray.

    Black Spirits:
While similar to the Revenants in terms of their malleable and incorporeal forms the black spirits unstable nature and hatred filled soul has rendered their appearance gruesome as an effect of their constant torment. Something that appears evident due to the shades of red and black that color their spectral form. The mark that Revenants subtly display as a hint to their demise these creatures exaggerate and turn into one of the main traits. This loss of ‘humanity’ or sanity is also reflected by things like long animal-like claws, predator-like eyes among others.

    White Spirits:
Their appearance shares the basic physical characteristics with all phantoms, incorporeal. However thanks to the inner peace and acceptance with their new spectral nature they portray the person they once were, no mark or hint as to what caused their death. The aspect of a specter is often colored with shades of blue, white or yellow. Strangely beautiful.

  3. A dwarven mage sitting comfortably in his desk at the harsh northern mountains. The sudden flare that would arise from his chimney would make the hair stand up on the back of his neck. "Something bad has happened... the Realm has lost someone important..." The dwarf would stand up from his desk and would make his way down to the hold. Looking through its vault for a few old treasues. "Their service must have been great, and the stone welcomes their body. May the Gods bid highly for their soul." he'd say as he threw a crimson ruby into one of the braziers, a red mist rising into the roof of the cavern as the gem melted upon the burning coals.

    Spoiler

While I didn't get to RP nearly as much as I would've wanted the few encounters I had with your character with several of mine were always enjoyable, a great character has died but I hope the great player that gave him life still has a good journey ahead.

  4. A fat Irongut would read the news as he ate a couple dozen pies. "Huh... ets been a whoile since A've last seen me pops... A 'ope 'e is well..." he would eat a couple dozen more pies before adding. "Per'aps A s'ould present meself before t'is lass. A miss being around me family..."

  5. I see dragon age art, I upvote.
    +1

I honestly like some of the things this voidal feat offers, feel like it could bring some very cool RP opportunities, would love to hear a bit more about the origin stuff & Talar’tayna.

Maybe a suggestion is to do something like this for the spells.

    [T#] [Active] [Combat] - Reweiler’narn - “Walking Echo”
Adding the Tier it belongs to might make things a bit clearer for people reading or learning the lore once it's accepted.

  6. While I like a lot of the changes there is something that I feel might set a dangerous precedent in terms of voidal magic & the voidal mage community that we've been trying to get away from and it is the 'corruptive' nature it has on nature that was recently written into pieces outside of Voidal Lore like druidism & Fae creatures.

Another thing that might need to add is the period between rebirths while the Epiphyte can not use their magic due to being under the age of 16.

@Kalehartmight have more information on the subject.

  7. It had been a hectic few days in Nevaehlen, the village was relatively quiet most of the time, but every so often a new problem would arise, leading the Matriarch and the rest of the Concord to deal with it before it became a larger source of stress. Thordir had gone out that morning on one of his usual hunts, however as the hunt progressed he'd come to realize he had ignored all the tracks for some of his usual prey, focusing instead on any tracks left behind by the young Mali'ame warrior. He'd come to a halt as he noticed a few words carved into a tree, he'd dismount his Stag, allowing it to graze while he investigated the area. The Hunter would kneel by the tracks on the mud as his gaze was locked on the Western Horizon.

"Sapling... I know this is a journey you must make by yourself but your family misses you. The village misses you. Your haelun and maln might try to appear strong, but their heart aches with every night that comes and you are not there for them to tuck you in bed..."

The Wild Chief would signal for a few Gladeguards to come out from the Shadows. He'd stand by the tree Greene had carved the Halerir'ame's number one lesson, carving the sigil of Cernunnos under it as he gave instructions to the Gladeguards.

"Find him, but don't let him see you. He will return when he is ready, but you must make sure he's ne harmed while he's out there. Keep me informed, if he tries anything foolish, send a hawk to the Overlook, I will join you then."

The Aureon would then get back on his armored Stag, brushing his hand against its mane before ordering it to take him back home.

    Blooming Kuila

This variation of the Kuila crystals appears to have been lost or simply forgotten in time, perhaps a  consequence of it's rarity. Found rarely in flower meadows or flower beds, Blooming Kuila crystals are truly a sight to behold, not a simple achievement. Unlike any of its counterparts these Kuila crystals form among the roots of flowers, with symmetric geometrical shapes, with a soft-purple glow.

A unique trait unlike any of its counterparts, the Blooming Kuila forms in small, short spires akin to flower bouquets. These Kuila possess a glass-like fragility to them and can make for delicate jewelry, or detailing on a staff or weapon.

    Purpose:

I don't know man I just wanted to add a new color to Kuila. Redlines & all the rest of the stuff would be the same as the ones found in this post.

Credits to Luci for being awesome.

  10. [!] The Stormbreaker Captain would come upon this missive in a simple tavern near a small port. He'd look out towards the docks and smiled looking at his Steamship. "A was sailing north... but A cannae deny an adventure w'en et 'its me en t'e face loike t'is." The captain would down the rest of the bottle of rum before starting to write a letter back to the Lord of Edenia.

Also as a side-question: is map dev team recruitment still ongoing? Should we expect to hear back any time soon if we applied?

Think for the phase we are on the team is going to stay the same or have very small changes. As we advance from the initial phase more people will be invited to development team.

Make it one giant island. Allow for the ability to expand the map or add additional islands if space gets used up. Islands could be for event lands or new island for player to explore/colonize. Problem is eventually all land gets used and people for some reason feel weird building over old builds etc. Most like a blank slate to design on.

Please look into elevation as well. Its pretty boring to have a flat map with mountains everywhere for the only differences. Have highlands, swamps, caverns, trenches. Even in the ocean as well.

Glad to see sebs back on the team. Goodluck on 9.0

Love you boss man great suggestions!

Either remove all these dead settlements or places with <1% of activity across the board or just allow activity checks to be made public. You wont win either way but doing nothing I feel hurts us more than the latter. Maybe do more dragon events and destroy all these dead places or unused builds in random tiles?

Trust me I wish I could...
