THE LOST ART OF RULE: REFLECTION ON THE FALL OF HANSETI-RUSKA Dedicated to the Haeseni People, for all time Published by: The Golden Crow Chronicles @Quinn275 @Piov @Drew2_dude 10th of Jula and Piov, 577 E.S. Va Birodeo Herzenav e Edlervik, The decline of the Great Kingdom did not begin in war. It began in comfort. In ceremony. In the softening of the spine that often follows the kind of wars that flatter rather than test a nation. War only revealed what had already begun to rot and weaken. It will undoubtedly become fashionable, in courtly circles, to speak of the Golden Age as though it were inevitable—a natural flourishing, a golden flower that bloomed of its own accord and duly withered. But those who lived it, and those who study rather than remember, know the truth: it was the work of ordained and weathered hands. It was shaped. Our Haeseni Era began with a spark so small that it went largely unnoticed at the time. The origins of our land emerged from the labors of many who withstood trials under the Seven Skies. The Kings of old advanced the vision of self-determination and reaffirmed the values of a proud Highlander people. The Great Houses lent their strength toward a collective cause. Haense has not always seen glory, but has been strengthened through sacrifice and persistence. From the wars that ended the Fifth Empire, to exile following the Great Northern War, to the ascendancy of Renatian cruelty, a proud people persisted. Following the War of Two Emperors, again a new generation emerged to build that dream. The existential cause for Haense’s survival was built anew, marking an unceasing Pax Hansenica. Though that war would end with the unsteady integration of our lands into a nascent empire, our Kingdom did not fracture. It did not splinter into factions or fall into the weight of its defeat. Instead, it stood firm — stronger than ever, united in resolve. The enemy’s victory became a catalyst for change, as the very spirit of defiance took root within the hearts of our people. Those who would rule over us did not know the strength they had just ignited. Haense, though a Kingdom in distress, would become a thorn in the side of those who sought to dominate it. Defiance became more than a trait; it became our generational ethos. In the years that followed, those brave statesmen who emerged from the ashes of our defeat led our Kingdom into a new era: Haense’s Almaris Century. Men and women of iron will and sharp minds — Konstantin Wick, Henrik Vanir, Andrik Jan Baruch, Viktor Kortrevich, Tatiana Ruthern, and Franz Morovar— each took their place in the shaping of a Kingdom reborn. They embodied a vision of strategic brilliance and steadfastness, uniting Haense under a banner of discipline and resolve. These were not leaders who silenced dissent. They welcomed it. For the first time, debate within the Kingdom became an engine of policy rather than an obstruction to it. The Duma Hall, the Ducal courts, the council chambers — they became crucibles where visions were tested, refined, and made strong. These statesmen crafted policies that ensured our survival and fueled our growth, securing Haense’s position as the cornerstone of a New Humanity. Their leadership laid the foundation for the Kingdom’s unparalleled rise. What was once a land divided by war and strife now flourished; we became the power brokers of the realm, the rulers of a nameless Empire. No treaty was signed without scrutiny, no war declared without plan. They carried the burden of governance with a single focus: the prosperity of the Kingdom. For all their flaws, they believed in something larger than themselves: the idea that a Nation must be built daily, with discipline, with foresight, with accountability. They carried that burden for generations. But as with all things, the brightest flames eventually flicker and fade. Those stewards who had sustained the Kingdom began to disappear. Some grew tired, while others were pushed away. Their departure was seen by many as a natural passing of old blood, an old mindset. Yet, it was in this very moment — the point where our Kingdom traded competence for comfort — that the spores of Morsgradi Mold settled. Where once there had been advisors and thinkers, now there were courtiers and flatterers. Those who sat at the King’s side no longer bore the burden of responsibility, but basked instead in the glow of royal favor. The court was a theatre of vanity, where ladies of station, draped in velvet and ambition, clamored for positions of influence — not to labour for the betterment of the realm, but to adorn themselves with titles like jewels, craving power and distinction without toiling to earn them. The men were little better, seeking honors not for service rendered but for prestige alone, and parading their lineage as if it alone could govern. The King, wearied of contradiction, gathered about him a circle of agreeable voices — yes-men cloaked in the arrogance of their own cleverness, whose pride in intellect eclipsed the plain wisdom of common sense. Thus the throne, once encircled by questions and debate, grew perilously quiet — a silence in which no truth was spoken, and in which the rot found root and spread unchecked. When the time came to face the Final Invader — not a new force, but an old threat with newfound strength — we were unprepared. But we were not only weak in arms; we were weak in mind. The Kingdom of Haense, once renowned for its foresight and resilience, found itself defenseless not merely in strategy, but in thought itself. The statesmen who had once steered us with clear minds and steadfast devotion were gone. The strategic minds, the logistical sense, the caution that had turned the tide of past defeats — no longer sat at the war-table. The Church, too, suffered rot. Apostate Owynists have wormed their way into its heart, corrupting the sacred from within, cloaking their heresies in zeal, and preaching a twisted scripture to shepherds too blind — or too complicit — to see. Beyond our borders, the Veletzers — descendants of the same treacherous stock that once ruled and ruined Adria — reemerged. Haense had burned that city to cinders centuries ago, cleansing its rot with fire. When they rose again in our own time, we had the chance to finish what our forebears began — but out of kindness, or folly, we let them flee. They found sanctuary in Numendil, whose noble heart mistook their cunning for humility. And as ever, they repaid mercy with betrayal, slithering into councils and parlors to sow incompetence, disloyalty, and vain ambition — elevating fools where stewards were needed, and turning former ally to foe through honeyed lies and hollow creeds. And Haense — proud Haense — was left to face the storm with a faltering hand at the helm. Our rightful line was broken, and in its place rose a second son — untested, unlearned, and unready for rule. He was no king of iron will or seasoned judgment, but a boy amidst wolves, his court a nest of serpents who coiled about the throne and hissed only what would please him. So it was that, when the Final Invader came, it found not the unshakable realm of old — but a kingdom unmoored, feeble in spirit, and crumbling from within. When Joren was called to lead, he faltered — utterly and without honor. After only two defeats — sharp, but far from fatal — he cast aside his crown and fled. The capital stood. The fortresses held. The enemy had not yet stepped foot on Haeseni soil. There was time to fight, to rally, to endure. But Joren had no faith in Haeseni strength — no belief in the perseverance that forged this land through fire and hardship. And where did he flee? Not to his people, but to Norland — a pagan, godless land born of the lesser sons of Edel, humbled time and again by Haense and even its lowliest vassals. Their warriors have known our wrath; their pride, our heel. Now, to that broken realm, our King runs and calls it sanctuary. In that act alone, he betrayed his ancestors, his oath, and his God. Saint Karl weeps for his lineage. He is no heir to Petyr I, whose intrepid vision laid the foundation for our triumphant destiny. He does not walk the path of Marius I, who held Karlsburg until it fell stone by stone. No kin to Franz, who refused surrender at his very coronation and was beheaded for it — a crown upon his brow, defiance in his heart. He bears no likeness to Andrik III, who stood alone against the Remnant Renatian Empire when our allies turned and fled during the War of Two Emperors. And when we were once again bound beneath the yoke of tyranny, Haense did not yield. We resisted — quietly, patiently — until that resistance became a fire too fierce to extinguish. Then rose Josef I the Liberator, who led us out of subjugation and into the Morrivi — the Spring of Prosperity — where Haense stood proud, free, and sovereign once more. His grandson, Sigismund III, fulfilled that legacy — destroying the Orenian Empire, crushing its armies, and bringing to ruin what generations had fought to break. Joren could have held us together. Even in defeat, Haense might have remained whole — bound not by banners, but by shared sacrifice. We could have endured, side by side in our homeland, and weathered this familiar storm. We could have preserved our spirit through tireless defiance, as we have done before — waiting, resisting, surviving. But instead, he fled his duty and abandoned his people, and in doing so, created a fracture that may never mend. He did not only lose a war — he scattered a nation, leaving behind not resolve, but uncertainty. What might have been a season of sorrow bound in solidarity is now a diaspora that threatens to unravel the very lifeblood of our Kingdom. Now in a borrowed court, the King idles surrounded by sycophants — grifters, cowards and flatters clothed in silk. They were charged to counsel a King, to uphold the realm — but they whispered comforts and delusions as the Kingdom fractured. In their incompetence, they too betrayed us. So ends Morrivi, the Spring of Prosperity. And now falls Nikirala — a long and dark winter, summoned not by foreign swords, but by cowardice from within. The old Haeseni virtues — perseverance, sacrifice, unity in defiance — lie discarded, their meaning forgotten by those entrusted to uphold them. The sword, once borne by Kings who knew its weight, lies rusting. The crown, once a symbol of sacred duty, is now a trinket bartered for safety. Yet still, one truth endures — whispered in the marrow of every true Haeseni: EA BYK ZWEM ZANYOTSK TER EA BYK DENPETRAVESK I WOULD HAVE PERISHED HAD I NOT PERSISTED

On the brain of the Kharajyr - An Informative Paper
Quinn275 replied to Quinn275's topic in Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska
Within the study of Jerovitz, Juliyus ponders how many beasts fall in the service of Man. If only the horse could speak, then they would give their gratitude to their masters' will to preserve them. -
On the brain of the Kharajyr, Compared to that of Man Written by: Juliyus Kortrevich, VKR Preface It has long been the prevailing opinion among Men that the Kharajyr race is inferior, both in organization and in intellectual powers, to that of Man; and that, in all the points of difference, it exhibits an approach to the Monkey tribes. The object of the present paper is to institute a rigid inquiry into the validity of this opinion. The author has, for this purpose, examined an immense number of brains of persons of different sexes, of various ages, and belonging to different varieties of both Man and Kha, by ascertaining their exact weight, and also by accurate measurement of the capacity of the cavity of the cranium 5 and has arrived at the following conclusions. This is a topic of recent importance, as those powers within the Holy Orenian Empire, and to extent within our own Grand Kingdom, would see to it that the cultural practices of Highlander sects would be oppressed in conjunction with deeming creatures such as the Kha of equal ability in a Man created social structure. Brain of Man The weight of the brain of an adult male Highlander varies from 2bs.7oz. to 3lbs.3oz. troy weight: that of the female weighs, on an average, from 4 to 8 oz. less than that of the male. The brain usually attains its full dimensions at the age of seven or eight and decreases in size in old age. At the time of birth, the brain bears a larger proportion to the size of the body than at any subsequent period of life, being then as one sixth of the total weight; at two years of age it is one fourteenth; at three, one eighteenth; at fifteen, one twenty-fourth; and in the adult period, that is, from the age of twenty to that of seventy, it is generally within the limits of one thirty-fifth and one forty-fifth. In the case of adults, however, this proportion is much regulated by the condition of the body as to corpulence; being in thin persons from one twenty-second to one twenty-seventh, and in fat persons often only one fiftieth, or even one hundredth of the total weight of the body. The brain has been found to be particularly large in some individuals possessed of extraordinary mental capacity. No perceptible difference exists either in the average weight or the average size of the brain of the Highlander and of the Heartlander: and the wrinkles are not larger, relative to the size of the brain, in the former than in the latter. In the external form of the brain of the Heartlander a very slight difference only can be traced from that of the Highlander; but there is absolutely no difference whatsoever in its internal structure, nor does the Heartlander brain, exhibit any greater resemblance to that of the common monkey than the brain of the Highlander, excepting, perhaps, in the more symmetrical disposition of its convolutions. Such findings provide adequate evidence that the major groups of Man are indeed of equal intelligence and capability, giving reason for their equal treatment, spare for noble purity. Brain of the Kharajyr The weight of the brain of an adult male Kha varies from 31bs.3oz. to 4lbs. 1 I oz. troy weight: that of the female weighs, on an average, from 1/2 to 5 oz. less than that of the male. Similar to that of Men, the brain bears much more proportion to the size of the body at birth, and decreases with age. The similarities in shape are also shared in reference to the proportion to the relative fitness of the creature. Throughout this project, it became evident that coming across a specimen of extraordinary mental capacity, in similar relative difference to that of a Man, was not possible, or exceedingly rare; Therefore no similarity can be drawn between that of an above average Man and an above average Kha, however if one were to be found, it is expected to have a similar relative outcome. Evidently, there is a highly noticeable difference between the average weight, and average size of Man and Khas. Additionally, where the brain of Man has distinct ridges and valleys throughout the surface, that of the Kha is quite different. While still presenting high and low points, the overall appearance is more smooth. Continuing in highlighting differences, the brain, and the chamber contained by the canium, is covered in a viscous slime-like fluid. While the reason for the presence of such liquid is unknown, a working theory relates the slow movement of the substance to the relative intelligence, and in extension consciousness, of the Kharajyr. Closing Remarks With proof obtained though the most recent methods and techniques, it can be ascertained that the common opinion popular throughout groups of Men has a basis in the physical. It can be expected for Kha to perform below the average Man, which may be found self-evidently in the barbaric and simple social systems that are found within their communities. It cannot be expected of these creatures to perform the same social duties within our societies, as such it is irresponsible to give them such channels. The Kha is not above those other creatures in the kingdom of beasts, and is little above that of the monkey, giving Men perfect reason and justifiable right to do with them as whatever their culture wishes.

Sons of Haense Composed by: Juliyus Kortrevich My name is Aldrik Baruch, I'm a child of Voron, Haense And I left my only family for the sea, the salt, and rain And when Stefan called the banners in 1611 Well I joined the royal army for the land that I am from We were baptized by fire in the battle of Rothswood And we fought our southern opposers in the wind, the snow, and sun And when our time was over I heard the commander say "Keep fighting for the kingdom for just another day" So we joined the lion of Carnatia, Kovachev his name And we marched once more toward battle as the 20th of Haense [Chorus] If we should die today, then dream a dream of heaven Take your northern hearts with you to the grave Be proud and true you are a royal soldier Stand fast, ye are the sons of Haense Well, our western flank, it was missing As the Courlanders, they pushed on And I fought them tooth and nail Our stamina all but gone And alone I stood with colors I was Flying proud and true For to let my northern brothers know The battle was not through And then appeared our crow, and he was cawing shining steel Charging down the mountain with what forces we had left 'Cause we're as steadfast as Greyspine We're as hard as winter's rain Go straight to hell with your tyrant yell We are the sons of Haense [Chorus] And if we should die today, then dream a dream of heaven And take your northern hearts with you to the grave Be proud and true you are a royal soldier Stand fast, ye are the sons Stand fast, ye are the sons Stand fast, ye are the sons of Haense

A Pocket Naumarian-Common Translation for the Adventurous Revised Edition Compiled by Sir Otto Kortrevich, Revised by Juliyus Kortrevich Compiler’s Note When I had taken it upon myself to organize my late grandfather’s large assortment of journals, notes, papers and books, it became obvious that the language of his people, Naumarian, had been his deepest passion in the latter years of life. Having read many of his unpublished linguistic compilations and theories, I believe it is unjust to leave it unavailable to the public; This new edition combines my grandfather’s written collection with my brother’s publishing know-how. I shall end with the notes from the first author: Naumarian is the language of the Haeseni people and gives a voice to the soul of the North. When I had the opportunity to be taught in school, Common certainly was the major language, however, Naumarian was still taught. These days it is used far less, however, I have run into a growing number of individuals pursuing a stronger relationship with our traditions. Haeseni Literature Republished Pages The Kingdom of Haeseni-Ruska has a full and well-documented history for any who share an equal interest in learning it as they do this language. The greatest resource for compiled Haeseni literature is the Work Directory, which is wonderfully kept up to date by the Brotherhood of Sigismund and the Society of Saint Everard. The index can be found in the Alimar Memorial Library in the Grand City of New Reza, as well as many of the great libraries within the Holy Oranian Empire. As this is a translation guide, you may also be interested in its roots. A great volume of the words is pulled from Karl Kautsky’s A Dictionary and Etymology of the New Marian Language. For those interested in the culture of our kingdom, I highly suggest reading Haeseni Mythologie from Otto the Tarcharman. It is a good long read for sitting and when twisted slightly makes a fantastic story for children. If history is what you are after, the notes on my cousin The Life of Ser Nikolaus Kortrevich, by Sir Otto Kortrevich, tell the great story of not only Ser Nikolaus but also a glimpse into the Kortrevich house. For even more history, many of the noble families make an effort to report their efforts and tribulations. Additional Pages This booking being a rehashing of a previous version, it is only fit to direct you as a reader towards the final recount and missives of Sir Otto Kortrevich. To know that such patriotism and loyalty could be found within a man is something that we as a Kingdom should be proud of. In times shortly before the publication of this translator, a brief, but complete, history of a King important to the foundation and strengthening of long withstanding Haeseni Houses had been put into the public’s eye, and which you will not wish to miss. Following the Compiler’s note and the brief note on Haeseni literature, the translation guide begins. It makes sure to be highly specific on the grammar formatting and takes similar detail on the different forms of regular and irregular verb conjugations. Continuing on the book outlines widely-used nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and pronouns. Many sections and subsections are found within the pages; Verbs & Their Conjugations, Nouns & Possession, Places Near & Far are the longest, but other, smaller, ones follow. https://lingojam.com/NaumariavTranslator The final page of the translator has a diagram explaining how the different date names Published by Baruch & Kortrevich Publishing Revised by Juliyus Kortrevich

Another letter is sent to the President of the House of Commons, Lukas Rakoczy, this time bearing the bull of Kortrevich. “Mister President, I hope this letter finds you in good health and good time, and accept my apology for absence. I have reviewed the transcript to the latest Diet session, which I have promptly put much thought into. While I agree with Member Stahl-Elendil in that Mister Halcourt could certainly well be the best candidate, I am also in stark disagreement to his stance on partisanship. Our role, in part, is to ensure not only the stability of the Empire, but also to work on improving it; The simple fact that previous Secretaries have been partisan in the past does not excuse those moving forward, in fact it is pulling us back in time. As a fair Member of his House, I have given much thought to both of these points the most, and have decided to abstain my vote. Regards, Juliyus Kortrevich, MHC -
