  humans have to write down their history b/c they die out in 1-2 irl years and if they don't write everything down it becomes irp lost knowledge due to anyone who would've lived through those events being dead of old age
  
  whereas elves if u want u can talk to characters who were around 3-4 maps ago and it's no big deal
