Character Name: Vanagandr HammerBeard What Race are you?: Dwarf What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): i was born into the hammer beards, but abandoned them long ago. Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Vanagandr is pretty tall by Dwarven standards, standing around 4'60 tall. In all other aspects, however, he is a very typical Dwarf: he's stocky and muscular, covered in the tanned skin that suggests he's a Mountain Dwarf. His hair colour further betrays it: his long hair and imposing beard are coloured a dark brown, like very dark chocolate. His eyes are also brown, though more of an amber-like colour. His nose is fair-sized, as all Dwarves' noses are, and he bears a calm, gentle expression. Most of the time, he covers his head with a simple helm that covers everything but the lower part of his face, letting his beard out freely. Said helm is crafted of high-quality steel, with a golden band around the 'forehead', stamped with sacred Dwarven runes. On the sides, the helm bears upward-pointing 'wing' details, further identifying him as a cleric. His face is protected by an almost pretzel- shaped face-guard, like a thief's mask to protect his eyes, with a downward extension in the center to cover his nose. His hair is long, poking out from under the helmet, and he keeps it braided. Same with his beard: it's two- layered. The backmost layer is allowed to flow free, while the frontmost layer has been bound up into three braids. Not much of the rest of his body can be seen due to the armor he wears. The first layer of armor he wears is the typical Dwarven Chaincoat, which consists of a padded-leather overcoat covered with a layer of chainmail for mundane protection. Over that, he wears a suit of fairly simple platemail, wrought of dwarven steel, that protects his upper body. It's nothing special in terms of design, though it fits him well, and has a raised rune on the front, which is inlaid with gold. This platemail also has squared off, horizontal shoulder guards, which curve slightly downward at both sides, and remain hinged despite their shape, thus giving his upper arms protection as well. Said arms are fairly thick and muscular, and end in hands with four fingers and a thumb each...although he wears platemail 'mittens' over said hands. Finally, he wears a tabard over his armor, done up in the classic "hammerbeard" colours: green with white trim. There's a gold-inlaid rune up front, over the one on his armor, as well as one on his back. By contrast, Vanagandr's lower body is relatively light on armor. He wears a pair of black, cloth pants, and on his feet are worn a pair of knee-height leather boots, over which is tensed a layer of chainmail, much like his coat. Finally, in terms of weapons, Vanagandr is armed with a humble Steal Hammer. This weapon takes the shape of a big, metal brick with five spikes upon it: one on top and four in the Horizontal and vertical directions, attached to a tough, wooden shaft with a handle made of wrapped cloth. He also carries a formidable Scale Greatshield: this wall-like shield is as tall as Vanagandr himself is, and has been reinforced up front by overlapping metal plates, much like scales on a fish. Vanagandr holds it by a mighty handle on the back. Vanagandrs personality: Unlike most dwarves, Vanagandr is rather calm and gentle. He's easy to approach, and does not form grudges very fast. He is described as being gentle and kindly toward others, especially those who look younger then he himself does. Being a Cleric, he is also not pushy about his choice of beliefs. However, as he is a Cleric, he absolutely cannot abide injustice and the undead: the fastest way to rouse him to action is to claim one or the other is currently taking place where you intend to go. In addition, being a Dwarf, he remains boisterous despite his manner. His voice is loud, and he loves a good meal and a drink as much as any other Dwarf does. History: Vanagandr Hammerbeard is the latest in a long line of "Hammerbeard" clan clerics. A devotee to the dwarven god Hodren, who represents justice and loyalty, Vanagandr was a somewhat unremarkable cleric until his talent was discovered: his Laying of Hands had remarkable strength, healing serious wounds in moments, and vaporizing the rogue undead that lurked in his mountain home's tunnels with ease. Seeing him as being destined for great things, the High Clergy sent Vanagandr out on a quest when he was 10 years of age: to go out into the world, defeat the undead and meet the followers of other gods, to learn from their example and let him learn from theirs. So far, most of Vanagandr's trip was spent ambling around, until he came to this place, as if sensing the events that would soon transpire... (based on an icelandic hero, because i grew up with these storys!) What is your Character's ambitions?: to find adventure, wherever that may be What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): an Axe (re textured by me to be a hammer) and a pickaxe when he mines What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? fighting and trading, with a little skill at mining. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): Other Information about your Character: he is taller than most dwarves, and he is less known to get drunk and do the crazy things other dwarves would, he is a more passive character (which i think is much needed) even though he is a fighter Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Vanagandr jogs towards them and tells them to stop, and to hand over the little money the poor halfling has, but the guards refuse saying " what authority do you have, you are the same worth of this Halfing!" both guards laugh but when they said all this Thorin had already picked up the money off the ground and gave it to the halfling, who was already sprinting away as fast as his small hairy feet could; Both guards looked strangely at Vanagandr, but do nothing else but continue there guard duty at cloud temple. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Vanagandr asked " Hello to you sir! i would like one bottle of ale, i have been adventuring quite a bit, and i need a little relaxin', but, im not a heavy drinker, give me one that's not to strong. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Vanagandr thinks of nothing but treasure! so he takes the sword and the bars to maybe use or sell at the blacksmith, as he only uses his trusty hammer for a weapon. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Vanagandr thought he would have no better opportunity to get food, so that is the first thing he askes of them, but then he spots a wagon, and sees the road leading in the direction of Kal'Dwain, so after the food he hitches a ride for a fair price of five minas and he slowly makes his way to the city. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Vanagandr asks of no rewards, but he departs with the party to kill the bandits, which was no hard job for him, he killed them quickly and sanely with quick bashes to the temple for deep concussions in which they would not wake up... James Undercroft 129 Share Posted February 22, 2012 You have gone over your 5 application limit, so you may not apply again for the server. But I shall give you the feedback anyway. I am really sorry about this. This is is why I denied you: Your definition for metagaming is not entirely correct. It is mostly correct, until you say "an out of character action". I can assure you the action itself is mot make out of character, as that could be equated to you right now going to the fridge and pulling out a soda. Or perhaps you getting in the car and turning it on. I think you get the general idea, but you need to make sure that you are specific. I would also reccomend that you include an example of metagaming and where it is used. Your definition for powergaming needs an example. Your definition is correct, but you need to include an example to show your understanding of the word. Your biography contains godmodding and Garry-Stu'ing. Basically what you have written for your character is, he is 10 and can vaporize a complete undead (who would usually tear a fully grown adult male warrior in half) and can heal massive injuries. First of all, even if you were starting as a 50 year old dwarf that would be a tad too powerful. Please read this: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/27643-how-to-avoid-making-a-mary-suegary-stu/ It will help you create a character who fits in with Lord of the Craft's style. All of your open response RP questions are in need of improvement. Instead of writing in a style like: My character would do this, then do that, then do that. Write it so it is like a STORY. For example, for the first RP situation: Zolgash growls, a low and deep resonating growl which startles the armed men. "Git da skah away from da 'alfling ya fools. Else I get meh some 'umie meat for mah dinner!" The armed men, obviously bandits kick the elf a single more time, and then walk towards Zolgash chuckling in their broken tones. "Heh heh heh, lookit dis orc! Tinks that 'e can eat us!" Zolgash would tense his muscles in his shoulders, then relaxing them as he draws his battle axe from his back... You see the difference? Also, for the shop question do not just write what YOUR character would say. Explain the entire situation, and what the shopkeeper says in response. What the shop keeper looks like, what the SHOP looks like, hell even include the little fly annoyingly buzzing around your face! Think of the LITTLE details, the REALISTIC details. The things which make people stop and stare and go, wow... that is so true! Be creative and show everyone just how good you are at roleplaying :) You have embedded the image incorrectly. Just removed the http:\\ and you should be good to go!
