JOVE WIELKAE VE HERZENAS I BARANYA
THE DUCHESS OF BARANYA
“WE COME AS CROWS”
Issued by the
CROWN
On this 9th day of Msizta ag Dargund of 532 E.S.
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,
FROM HER EARLIEST DAYS, LADY STEFANIYA HAS BEEN A BEACON OF VIRTUE IN THE HALLS OF THE LESANOV. The young Crow may not have been born to us, but she has been raised as one with our issue. With our guidance she has grown into a diligent servant to the Dual-Kingdom, as all the sons and daughters of Barbov ought to be. She has brought to us the head of the man who stole the breath from our beloved daughter, the Princess Anastasya Milena, and has represented the interest of our blood in the Royal Duma for some time.
On this day, in light of her meritorious service to the Dual-Kingdom, and her impending marriage to an Alstionite prince, we deem it fitting and just to bestow upon Lady Stefaniya a gift. By our will, she is recognized formally as that which she has long proven herself to be; a member of the Royal Household proper. From now until her last, let her be known to all as a Princess of the Realm.
HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, THE DUCHESS OF BARANYA, STEFANIYA EDVARDA BARBANOV-BIHAR
GODANI JEST WIELKI,
HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Ivan VIII, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Hochmeister of the Marian Retinue, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Slesvik, Solvesborg, and Ulgaard, Duke of Carnatia, and Vanaheim, Margrave of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Count of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Markev, Nenzing, Siegrad, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscount of Varna, Baron of Astfield, Buck, Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, and Rytsburg, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector and Lord of the Highlanders, etcetera.
HER ROYAL MAJESTY, Nataliya of Ghaestenwald, Queen-Consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Hochmeister of the Marian Retinue, Princess-Consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duchess-Consort of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margravine-Consort of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Countess-Consort of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscountess-Consort of Varna, Baroness-Consort of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, and Astfield, Lady of the Westfolk, Protector and Lady of the Highlanders, etcetera.

ROYAL LETTERS FOR
THE VISCOUNTY OF KRUSEV
KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM
Issued by the
CROWN
On this 9th day of Joma ag Umund of 531 E.S.
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,
THE HOUSE OF KORTREVICH IN THE PAST CENTURY HAS SUFFERED DIFFICULTIES AND TROUBLES. Under the reign of Aleksandr II, may he rest in peace, the House was stripped of its greater titles and given opportunity to restore their honours.
Now, during our reign, the House of Kortrevich has shown itself admirably, endeavouring to right the failings of their predecessors; the family has loyally served their King, and acquitted themselves honourably. Mention ought, too, be made of the Late Ser Leonid d’Arkent-Kortrevich, who served the realm loyally as Lord Marshal of Our Realm, and as an honourable Knight of the Crow until his unfortunate demise.
His service to his family and to Crown both have been duly noted, as has that of the promising heirs and household.
By these virtues, the Crown does elevate and enfeoff the Viscounty of Krusev to the House of Kortrevich, and do elevate their Patriarch, Baron Erik Kortrevich, to be Viscount of Krusev. With such, the Crown vests its hopes in Kortrevich’s continued recovery, and that they shall do much good for the Realm with this title, and the rights afforded thereafter.
GODANI JEST WIELKI,
HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Ivan VIII, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Hochmeister of the Order of the Crow, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Slesvik, Solvesborg, and Ulgaard, Duke of Carnatia, and Vanaheim, Margrave of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Count of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Markev, Nenzing, Siegrad, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscount of Varna, Baron of Astfield, Buck, Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, and Rytsburg, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector and Lord of the Highlanders, etcetera.
HER ROYAL MAJESTY, Nataliya of Ghaestenwald, Queen-Consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Hochmeister of the Order of the Crow, Princess-Consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duchess-Consort of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margravine-Consort of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Countess-Consort of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscountess-Consort of Varna, Baroness-Consort of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, and Astfield, Lady of the Westfolk, Protector and Lady of the Highlanders, etcetera.

THE PACT OF NORTHERN BROTHERHOOD
As agreed upon on this 13th day of Msitza ag Dargund of 530 E.S. | 13th day of Harren's Folly of 1977
Between the Dual Monarchy of Hanseti-Ruska and the Principality of Reinmar
For many years, the Royal House of Barbanov-Bihar and the Royal House of Barclay have lived in perpetual brotherhood, fighting side by side upon the field of battle and standing at the forefront of leadership in the northern realm. Long before then, the ancient peoples of the Raev and Waldenians shared in their nourishment from the River Waldor in the time of Joren. Despite their differences in culture and the conflicts borne from those differing ways, it was from those very waters that both tribes flourished. Now, it is the desire of King Ivan VIII and the Dual Princes Alfred I and Leon II to further cement this centuries-long kinship between their descendants, the Haeseni and Reinmaren.
With the signing and promulgation of this document, the Dual Monarchy of Hanseti-Ruska and the Principality of Reinmar, hereon referred to as “the signatories”, do agree on their honor to the terms laid forth hereafter.
ARTICLE I | ARTIKEL AUWN | ARTIKEL EINS
The signatories mutually recognise the other as the sole sovereign state over their respective lands, and all titles affiliated with their respective styling. This includes the right to rule and govern their territories as they see fit, and non-interference in internal affairs.
ARTICLE II | ARTIKEL ZWEIN | ARTIKEL ZWEI
The signatories, wishing to promote free trade amongst one another and their people, shall allow the respective national Trading Companies of either signatory to own a tax-free stall within each other's Capitals.
ARTICLE III | ARTIKEL DRES | ARTIKEL DREI
The signatories, wishing to promote cultural growth between one another and their people, shall commit themselves to cultural exchanges between each other, including but not limited to the hosting of shared events.
ARTICLE IV | ARTIKEL VAUR | ARTIKEL VIER
The signatories agree to a defensive alliance in which any hostilities from a third party against either state will be viewed as an attack against the both of them, and neither state shall enter a conflict that may place them in conflict with the other.
The signatories agree to settle any dispute between them or in which they may be involved through diplomatic means in such a manner of this alliance and the laws of signatories are not endangered.
The signatories agree to consult together whenever, in the opinion of either of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of the signatories is threatened.
ARTICLE V | ARTIKEL SIEG | ARTIKEL FÜNF
The signatories agree to aid each other in all militaristic regards should the other deem it just and necessary.
The signatories agree to allow the passage of armed forces belonging to one another through their lands unimpeded.
ARTICLE VI | ARTIKEL ZEG | ARTIKEL SECHS
To further seal their pact and unite the crowns of the North by blood, the signatories agree to a formal betrothal between the Grand Prince Marius Nikolas Barbanov-Bihar and the Lady Juliya Elena Barclay, with the promise that they shall one day ascend as King and Queen-Consort of Hanseti-Ruska.
ARTICLE VII | ARTIKEL ZELV | ARTIKEL SIEBEN
This treaty shall be in effect from the moment it is signed, and shall last in perpetuity, or until either realm wishes to renegotiate any terms.

TURNI I VE GELTENKAROS
TOURNEY OF THE GOLDEN CROW
KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM
Issued by the
CROWN
On this 10th day of Jula ag Piov of 526 E.S.
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,
THE HAESENI PEOPLE HAVE SURVIVED A TEST OF HOLY GODAN. As Hanseh was once cleansed by the light of Holy Godan, so too was Valdev purged from the face of Aevos. What was once only flame and ruin has risen once more, and the proud banners of black and gold once more fly in the Northern wind. Thus, the Crown sees it fit to celebrate alongside their subjects and allies in a Grand Tourney in the shadow of New Valdev spanning over two months. Let us celebrate the survival of the North, Lord and strelt alike.
The Month of Gronna ag Droba
Saturday, April 20th, 6pm EST
THE IRON MARKET
The Crown of Hanseti-Ruska invites the blacksmiths of Aevos to present their wares among the pavilions and pitched tents of the tourney grounds. Any man wishing to partake is encouraged to send a crow to Kastell Lesanov bearing the name of their business and the nature of their craft, be they a swordsmith, an armourer or anything in between. Proof of quality work may be delivered to Lord Mikhail Colborn for inspection for preferential placement within the market.
THE COMBAT OF GORM
Teams of three men are to fight with longsword and plate in a bracketed tournament. One man must carry the banner of his liege or clan throughout the day. Should he be felled in combat the team shall be stricken from the bracket as if all had been defeated. The victors of the day shall be rewarded from the vaults of the Crown with a magical blade and ancient coinage.
THE PLOWHAND’S MELEE
The day shall close with a general melee, with every man fighting unarmed and unarmoured until only one remains. This contest is to be restricted to those of Haeseni stock that do not stand to inherit a fiefdom of the Dual-Kingdom. He who reigns supreme shall gain the favour of his Crown, and be elevated by His Majesty to squirehood in the prestigious Order of the Crow.
The Month of Tov ag Yermey
Sunday, April 21st, 5pm EST
THE JOUST OF NEW VALDEV
To herald in the second day of festivities their Majesties intend to host a joust during which ladies may bid their favour on various participants and knights and lords may fight for the valour of their respective houses. Amidst the joust, alike the day prior, merchants are encouraged to dispense their wares to the gathered crowds.
Prior to the start of the joust, the Royal Court intends to host the ladies in attendance at the tourney grounds in order to ensure all ladies are properly equipped to bid their favours as they wish.
SpoilerThere will be a stall where you can buy premade favours, or a tent to make your own. Those participating in the joust should come with a banner of their house (equipped by looking up + shift clicking). There will be blank banners for people to make them at the joust, but all are encouraged to bring their own. Supplies are limited.

On this 10th day of Wzuvar ag Byvca of 525 E.S.
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,
OUR UNITY IS PARAMOUNT. Those within the Aulic Council remind us of that, where those of different paths work together as one in service to the people, and so too must we as King and Queen. We have spent many years prior to the ascension to the throne upon the intricate structures borne of the separation of the Royal Councils, of which the Queen’s Council does hold a significant place therein. When the Grand Lady was elevated to an Aulic position, the Queen’s Council proved its importance and worthiness. It is this distinguished institution that our children received noble education, and served as representation of the people and nobility alike. Yet in the current age, its distinction from the wider courts does not serve as a representation of the Crown, for if we are to rule as the Twin Crows, then it is only in our interest to consolidate the courts into one.
Historical precedent reveals that only once was this council consigned to dissolution under the reign of King Karl III and Queen Amadea of Susa, where a singular Royal Court was formed and thrived. Thus with the necessity of a unified council and court, it is in our interest to see the Queen’s Council dissolved and all offices pertaining to it. In its stead, the Royal Court of Hanseti-Ruska shall be established and is to be led by the Grand Lady of the realm with the King and Queen’s oversight.
Jura i Kongzem, Chapter X of the Haurul Caezk shall now read:
JURA I KONGZEM
LAW OF THE KINGDOM
Ch. X. “The Royal Court” (Ve Krawneo Kort)
X.I. The Royal Court shall be responsible for the maintenance of the Royal Grounds, and social, cultural, marital, and educational aspects of the Kingdom, and the Grand Lady shall lead the Royal Court on behalf of the Crown.
X.II. The spouse of the Heir shall oversee the Royal Court with the Crown’s guidance, and shall be permitted to make appointments, and write reforms to the structure of the Royal Court if granted Crown assent.
GODANI JEST WIELKI,
HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Ivan VIII, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Lord Protector of the Covenant of Man, Grand Hetman of the Army, Hochmeister of the Order of the Crow, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Slesvik, Solvesborg, and Ulgaard, Duke of Carnatia, and Vanaheim, Margrave of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Count of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Markev, Nenzing, Siegrad, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscount of Varna, Baron of Astfield, Buck, Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, and Rytsburg, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector and Lord of the Highlanders, etcetera.

LORD SPEAKER OF THE REALM
KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM
Issued by the
CROWN
On this 12th day of Tov ag Yermey of 524 E.S.
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,
IT IS THROUGH THE DUMA THAT HAESENI PEOPLES ARE EMPOWERED. As is the realm ever changing, so too are its people. Yet, they must always have a voice and one to guide it. In such, We thank the good Lord Otto Ludovar for his many years of diligent service to the Crown and to the Royal Duma, and pray for his rest within the Seven Skies. Without his steady hands, the realm is like to have found itself adrift over these past years of strife.
In succeeding him, those assembled of the Royal Duma have seen fit to nominate the Lord Henrik Amador (@critter), to the position of Lord Speaker. We do find this a most shrewd suggestion, and are glad to announce his affirmation. Having proven himself already amongst the hall, and in his study of the realm’s history and law, he shall wield the Black Bulava justly. We trust that he shall shepherd the coming reforms that we might usher in a new age for the Duma.

VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,
AFTER SIX YEARS OF VACANCY, THE STATION OF GRAND LADY MUST BE FILLED. With Queen Amaya’s retirement from the court and Grand Princess Nataliya at the helm of the Esrova Prikaz, the beginnings of her reign alongside Grand Prince Ivan are starting to take shape. We thank Queen Amaya for her unyielding service and commitment to the courts and hope to see it prosper through the years following her retirement.
To assist the Grand Princess, we think it necessary to appoint a new Grand Lady to continue the excellence at Royal Court. Thus, we appoint Marjoreya of Vidaus (@ncarr) to the station of the Grand Lady to wield the Rose Bulava. With her extensive knowledge on the traditions of the Haeseni court, the Crown trusts that she will serve our Royal Court with attentiveness.

KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM
Issued by the
CROWN
On this 11th day of Joma ag Umund of 515 E.S.
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,
IN A RECENT ATTACK BY OCCUPIER RAIDERS, OUR KING WAS STRUCK BY AN ARROW INTO HIS CHEST. While it appeared he had sustained minimal injury and was swiftly treated, his wound had unknowingly festered with infection. It was during a royal venture to the northmost lake of Valdev that the King’s humors worsened and were imbalanced by the far-northern frost, causing him to fall ill and for riders to be sent to the Royal Capital seeking aid. Similarly has the Grand Prince of Kusoraev been stricken low by wounds of his own, sustained in a penitent duel with the Bishop Westerwald.
Until their announced recovery, the Crown formally issues this missive and declaration of regency that the Grand Princess of Kusoraev shall be the ultimate authority in all matters of state and is to maintain the integrity of the nation and the Crown on the King’s behalf, with the advisory of the Lord Palatine.
GODANI JEST WIELKI,

THE SUCCESSION SECURED
“WE COME AS CROWS”
Issued by the
CROWN OF HANSETI-RUSKA
On the 12th day of Vyzmey ag Hynk of 515 E.S.
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK,
FOR MANY YEARS HAS THE REALM ANTICIPATED A CHILD OF ROYAL STOCK. Of these, I have been wed to our Grand Prince for eight. For all the years of our union, the Kingdom has been at war. We have spent our youth in encampments and marching across fields far from home. Our’s has been an age of blood; one that has thankfully come to its end. The fires of war have been driven from the Motherland, and unto a defeated Midlander realm. No reavers burn our crops, and no brigands assail our roads. There is peace in the Kingdom, and with peace comes new duties.
As the future Queen of Hanseti-Ruska, it is my duty to provide stability to the line of succession and the House of Barbanov-Bihar. An eventual heir to our throne. I have sought the greatest physicians of our continent, and have pleaded for the intercession of St. Juliya and the benevolence of Holy Godan. It is with great joy that I announce these prayers have been answered, and that the Oracle’s prophecy has been fulfilled. On the eve of the 11th of Vyzmey ag Hyff, 515 E.S., under the sign of the Three-Eyed Crow and beginnings of the Great Thaw, my labours produced a son, hale of body and bold of character.
We name this boy in honour of Prince Marius Audemar, his storied great-uncle. Strength and ambition shall be vital in this new age of uncertainty. None may deny these virtues are echoed in the deeds of the Prince, and written across the face of the riverlands.

As the carriage rolled down the winding roads to Valdev, Nataliya Leopoldina regarded the Prince of Kusoraev in quiet contempt. She seldom spared a fleeting thought for her noble husband of late, though these days of prolonged travel were made ever more tiresome by the bitter silence. All the same, she could not bring herself to look at him; it only brought to mind the pale eyes of that accursed bastard.
The princess pressed a hand to her swollen belly, a child which she had thought to be their first. He had spurned them, though. Deprived her of all they had spent years trying for. The queen had been relentless in her prodding, for it was Nataliya’s first duty to provide for them a grandchild. The heir to a kingdom. Yet, despite all her prayers and deference; Saint Juliya had not seen fit to bestow upon her such a simple blessing. She had been a fool to heed the council’s prattle — perhaps had she been with him in Aaun, the child that she carried would have been his first.
The carriage surged to a halt, and Natliya heard the herald welcome them home to the capital. She would not hesitate to be free of him, escaping up towards the palace, but her eyes could not help but wander toward his mistress and her spawn. The rage overcame her then, and she turned to Ivan in righteous fury, protesting “Vy cannot expect me to tolerate this, a lasting reminder of how vy have dishonoured me.”
Her husband appeared pitious in answer. “He is my child, Nataliya.”
She hissed at him. “Go then, be with them.”
Her chamber in the tower offered little comfort. She was only staring out over the gardens to see them deep in argument. That mistress had pressed the babe into the hands of some palace maid as tempers flared, pressing clenched fists to Ivan’s collar.
Nataliya knew not what madness gripped her then, as she stormed towards the nursery, sending servants scurrying aside. Flinging the hard oaken door open, her gaze fell upon him in his cot, enjoying a peaceful sleep. Her trembling hands slowly tugged the pillow from beneath him and drew it up overhead. The boy gurgled some vague protest, but did not stir. The princess consort steeled herself, and pressed down hard over his mocking smile. The bastard wheezed, and flailed wildly. Her arms proved limp, then, as a wave of guilt rolled over her. The guilt of her own impending motherhood, and the bastard drew breath once more.

WAR IS UPON US. Lesser men have fallen to the ambition of their fathers, and assail the faithful throughout the land. The Haeseni have ridden against these upstart Imperials twice in living memory. Twice, they have returned victorious. This is an age of strife and uncertainty, but Hanseti-Ruska and Her Crown shall persist.
The succession of the Kingdom is paramount in times of peril, and thus it pleases the Crown to announce the wedding of Grand Prince Ivan Aleksandr and Lady Nataliya of Morovar. This blessed union, first prophesied by the Oracle of Valdev in the year 501 E.S, shall be the first to make use of the newly consolidated Jorenic Rite. They shall exchange cloak and blade at the altar, under the guidance of the Patriarch of Jorenus and the watchful eye of Godan.
His and Her Serene Highness have requested that no merriment follow their vows. It is in poor taste for drink to flow while men bleed in the field. Instead, the royal couple offers a gift of sword and hauberk to every man in the congregation.

The Royal Valdev Library is an esteemed institution wherein centuries of knowledge lie upon every shelf. Such a trove of treasured history requires keen oversight to see that all materials are detailed accurately, therefore ensuring the education of every Haenseman.
It is the will of His Majesty, Aleksandr II of Haense, that Lord Henrik Amador (@critter) assumes the prestigious role of High Archivist, a newly created title for the task. He shall undertake the revitalization of the Royal Valdev Library, which under the little Baron’s care, shall be destined to become a beacon of knowledge and culture, befitting the Kingdom it resides in; the oldest of Mankind. We place Our full faith in the Baron to perform his task dutifully and expect his efforts to bear fruit in the coming future.
It does also please the Crown to appoint a Deputy Palatine, a storied position that aids the Palatine in overseeing the Aulic Council and the happenings of the Kingdom. To ensure that Our realm continues to function smoothly, the Palatine may defer to the Deputy, and such a position requires an individual of great discipline who possesses knowledge of the Kingdom’s history, culture, and political climate.
It is the will of His Majesty, Aleksandr II of Haense, that Lord Walter Weiss (@SethWolf) shall ascend to the post of Deputy Palatine. We place Our full faith in the Viscount to serve the Kingdom dutifully as he has for many years, and shall continue to do so in the years to come.

A troubling phenomenon has been presented to the Palatial Office, in which signs that are stricken with a bioluminescent tincture become illegible and a strain upon the eyes of the masses. It has been argued that the script blurs from this faux-light in the distance, promoting illiteracy in its wake. The Crown recognises that while unintentional, there might be effects of which the general populace was previously unaware of. It is in the interest of the realm that this debate is met within the halls of the Royal Duma once reformed.
The Crown asks the Royal Duma to debate the following:
Signage and Advertisement: The usage of ink that glows has been noted to cause illegibility for many who read it. Should roadside signage be barred from this substance? If so, should it be permitted only within buildings which are not readily visible to the public?
Compensation of Merchants: With such large swathes of signage marred with glow-ink, should those who provide proof of removal from their own storefronts and households be entitled to claim a sum of minae? If so, will there be a timeframe on how long they are eligible for funding?

VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK,
It nears a decade since the retirement of the Gant Chancellery, headed by the Lord Palatine Otto Gant. It was under his lead that the office was reinvigorated, and with it the ideals of Our Kingdom. Central to the work of the Chancellery was the preservation and maintenance of the Royal Archives, put to law in the Viktorian Edict of 481 E.S. It is imperative that this work continues.
The list of publications laid out in the edict are required to be updated every twelve years, or at the behest of the Crown. This deadline has come, and thus We must act. It is for this purpose that the position of Royal Recordkeeper shall be established, and it shall carry out the duties laid out in the aforementioned edict beneath the Palatial Office. They shall be tasked with the upkeep of the Royal Archives, the Royal Signature, as well as any other works of cultural importance to the Haeseni. It is the will of His Majesty, Aleksandr II of Haense, that Lord Otto Ludovar (@Dogged) be named to this position. His Excellency is well-versed in the histories, and it is Our hope that he continues to serve the Crown dutifully in this new role.
As We retraced the works of the Gant Chancellery in the appointment of the Royal Recordkeeper, a position of the era has come to Our attention that has fallen into stagnancy. The Lord Regulator shall be tasked with providing oversight and guidance to the lords of the realm, in particular, they shall oversee the construction of their holdfasts. It is the will of His Majesty, Aleksandr II of Haense, that Lord Otto Gant (@Drew2_dude) be named the Lord Regulator. It shall be his duty to ensure the vassal lands be defendable whilst also upholding the architectural standards of the past.

Letter to the Royal Duma:
ON STRUCTURE OF THE DUMAKRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM
Issued by the
LADY PALATINE
In accordance with the wishes of the
CROWN
On this 9th day of Wzuvar ag Byvca of 493 E.S.
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK,
Since the implementation of the Wilheburg Edict, there have been countless discussions of the Royal Duma and its structure. Many have advocated against the reformation of the Georgian system, whereas others insist that the chambers have not yet been given time to flourish. Without touching on the merit of either position, it is clear to the Crown that the course of the Duma is an uncertain one. Before any reformation takes place, it is in the interest of the realm that both chambers meet to discuss their collective future.
The Crown asks the Royal Duma to debate the following:
Separation of the Royal Duma: The topic of separation of the Duma, between Peoples’ and Lords’, has been controversial, with votes on previous bills presenting great division. If adjustments were to be made, should the halls merge once more with the previous structure of the Royal Duma, or will revisions of it be drafted? If not, what changes should be made to it as current?
Frequency of Sessions: The Duma has not met regularly since the time of King Karl III and His Grace, Maric Baruch, with the frequency and reason for such changing between each Speaker. It was the intent of the late Lord Speaker to avoid frivolous legislation that so plagued the chamber at the time, and to do away with the tedium of needless argument that arose from their discussion.
Interest in the institution has continued to plummet, however. Should we reconsider this irregularity, and return to scheduled sessions? If so, how frequently should the Duma meet? If not, when should it be necessary that they be summoned?
Purpose of the Duma: The aforementioned apathy of the Haeseni to our Duma is troubling. The Haurul Caezk of Sigismund III has proven to be rather robust, and has needed few revisions in the half-century since their enshrinement. If not to legislate, what is the purpose of Duma? What should it become?
The Crown does also ask that the Lords’ and Peoples’ Duma convene within the same chamber for this discussion.
IV JOVEO MAAN,
His Royal Majesty, Aleksander II, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Hochmeister of the Order of the Crow, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Slesvik, Solvesborg, and Ulgaard, Duke of Carnatia, and Vanaheim, Margrave of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Count of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Siegrad, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscount of Varna, Baron of Astfield, Buck, Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, and Thurant, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector and Lord of the Highlanders, etcetera.

CROWMOTHER
“The pain and panic slowly ebb away, replaced by a cold, creeping numbness. An acceptance. Her last conscious thought is of her family, and what could have been.”
THE CRACKLING OF FLAME FILLED THE SILENCE OF THE CHAMBER. The hearth had been tended to with firewood brought in from the Crowswood, soothing in that moment, for the winds were strong outside. Nataliya stirred awake to the sound, sunken back into a wooden chair. What? She wondered, and rubbed at her eyes gently as to observe her surroundings. Her husband sat beside her, barely masking his annoyance, though it was not with her. Meeting after meeting... Yes, that was it. If only they were livelier. Her thoughts were interrupted shortly by a sudden knock upon wood. “Which is this?” She posed to her husband. “I thought we’d finished for the evening,” to which he grunted, and rolled his shoulders in response.
“Enter,” Ivan called, and the door swung open. A darkened figure stood in its frame, and Nataliya tensed; the Barrow of Kastell Lesanov. “Speak, then.”
She swelled with anger as her leave was bade by the bastard. Her teeth clenched as she withdrew from them, and to her mind once more. She often took to this in his presence, cold to the ceaseless bickering between the pair. Their petty slights. Resentment. She lacked discernment between this conversation and the last with the Barrow. They all melded together into one. A brief moment of clarity overcame her, and with what little comprehension remained, she could scarce believe what she’d heard. “Nie.” She took to her drink.
“It's niet vy I ask.” Andrey spat.
The room spun around Nataliya, and her eyes met the candleholder overhead, pale in the light. More, and more insults hurled against her character. The Queen’s hands trembled as her fingers curled into a fist, then pounding against the table. “I should have seen vy undone!” She snapped. He was only a babe then. I should have, I could have! Her husband pushed himself to his feet in that moment, and took up a sabre that lay against the table. Andrey too ran a hand across the scabbard at his belt, eyes aflare. She scanned her surroundings without a weapon of her own, unusual of her character, when the walls suddenly enclosed around her into a haze of black.
A GUST OF THE COLD, WINTER AIR BLEW INTO THE ROOM AND SET THE HEARTH’S FLAMES SWIRLING. Nataliya listened to the logs crackle and pop as her senses returned, and she inhaled a sharp breath. When her eyes opened, she jolted, and her hands pulled away from her daughter’s cheek. She had been pushing aside the little Princess’ stray hairs from her bedside, doting on the girl. Wasn’t I?
Stay vyr tongue. By all rights it is hers. I told vy what would happen if vy spit vyr poison, boy.
“... Mother?” Anastasya cautiously asked. “Is all well?”
“I lost track of time,” she reassured her daughter, and herself. I’d almost forgotten you have my eyes, Ana. She pressed a kiss onto the girl’s cheek, and returned to her affections. “I must’ve been dozing off.”
Worry washed over her daughter’s face as she hesitantly spoke, “But... Mother, vy’d only just arrived.”
She is only what vy made of her, Father.
“Eh?” She sounded, taken aback from the statement. “Nie, nie,- I was here. I was, wasn’t I?” She blinked in quick succession amidst her confusion, and clutched the Hussariyan cross around her neck. What is she saying? The silence between the pair was suddenly broken as the lady’s maids hurried in to prepare her daughter for the day. A dress to change from her bedclothes, a brush for the night’s tangles, and a stew to break her fast. The ladies weaved around the Queen, as she sat motionless in her disbelief, and certainly would not budge to their account. One of the maid’s combed through her daughter’s hair, just beside Nataliya, while the other maid offered the bowl of stew. The scent of spice and earth hit her nose; turmeric, and walnut? She rapidly grew alert, and shouted hysterically at the attendants, “Poison! Vy fools!” To her dismay, her shouting did no service, and she watched in horror as her daughter took a sip from the stew.
Anastasya looked aside, puzzled and frightened, and in good health. “... I,- I think we need a physician, Mother... Vy’re niet vyrself.”
“Nie! Niet after the last one!” She pressed a palm to her forehead as a pain throbbed. What was the last one, again? She pushed the thought aside. I have sound reason. “Where is Ivan? Where is he?” Her skin was pallid, as though it might turn green from her sick.
“In the meeting hall, Majesty,” one of the maids answered, who gingerly ran her hands against the Princess’ arm, for her eyes welled with tears.
Cease vyr bitching, or be cast from the halls of my family.
The Queen stood, swaying as she clambered out of the chambers and to the balcony. What meeting could he possibly,- Her guts twisted into knots, followed by a dry retch over the railing. An unbearable pain rested in her stomach as noise and confusion enveloped her. Eyes lowered to the ground, and soon after did she collapse into that familiar black blur.
MUTED LIGHT FILTERED THROUGH THE TOWER ALONGSIDE THE INCESSANT WHIPPING OF THE BLACK-GOLD BANNERS. Nataliya’s eyes snapped open, and found herself leaning against the red bricked wall of one of the turrets. Her heels clicked underfoot as they met the stone stairway. One cautious step after another, she was unsteady on her feet, yet none came to her assistance despite plenty of servants traversing the halls. Some brushed against her displayed shoulder, a grunt emitted to each one. This is torturous. Were the stairs always this long? Her eyes settled upon a set of doors. Not the right ones. Then a second set. Where are the boys, she wondered.
I made nie complaint. Vy let this harpy drip her poison in vyr ear. Have I niet been leal? I have given vy nie reason for such scorn beyond vyr own great sordid shame. Vy would raise Stefaniya as a princess, as vyr own blooded daughter? I am vyr son - the elder.
Those very doors flung open, and a girlish voice with great urgency called, “Vyr Majesty!”
Eyes dart to the source, a young Ruthern of raven hair, Milena. The Queen wove a dismissive hand, and choked out the words, “Niet now.”
The young noblewoman’s expression was grave, and she continued, “It is dire. I must warn vy again, my Koenas.”
Again? This is the first I’ve seen of her today, she thought. “Speak it, then. I have elsewhere to be.”
Vy are a jealous, vain little creature. Begone.
“A murder descends around them, stabbing and squawking in fury. Two flocks, two armies,” she began to drone, her tone sapped of prior urgency. Her eyes were sunken and dark, restless. “In the end, one stands above the other, talons soaked in the blood of its kin. The other golden coronet sits amidst the pool of ichor.” The Ruthern stared ahead blankly, awaiting response.
The cruelty which the Ruthern regaled with such sudden indifference shocked Nataliya, and sent a bone-chilling shiver along her spine. That warning gnawed at her, and she stood in a daze. Then, a warmness of familiarity. But this is the first I’d heard her prophecy. It must be, I should not forget it; Ivan always says I have the memory of a crow. She hesitated, and the Ruthern had vanished from sight as the hall melded into one with the shadows.
AND SO SHE AWOKE IN HER CHAMBERS, AS SHE HAD BEFORE. The days fell to darkness for what felt like an eternity. Dishevelled, this morning she strolled out to the parapets. Her gaze lingered on the autumn leaves of the Westerwald as wild gusts of wind nearly yanked her back with such force. How long had it been, and still they do not fall? She could hardly recall the last time she felt the snows. It is no matter. I must tend to Ana. Nataliya turned from the railing, and made for the heavy oaken door that gave way to the halls.
A blade of light cut into the darkness of the princess’ chambers, as the sun had barely peeked over the mountains. “Ana, have vy woken yet?” She called in a hushed tone.
Her daughter stirred, and rubbed a hand over her tired eyes. “... Mother?” She groaned, half-awake, and sought to pull the covers over her face. “It is hardly light out, Mother.”
“I know, I know.” The Queen grinned, and made to her bedside. She tugged those sheets away, and beckoned her upright. “I had thought we could paint before the servants rush in. What do vy suppose?”
“... Paint?” Whatever fatigue that plagued her had all but disappeared in that moment. She bounced from her feathered mattress, and at once took her mother’s hand. Anastasya near dragged her into the halls. She had been so weakened by her illness, though Nataliya entertained her. Their stifled laughter echoed through the otherwise silent castle, until they found themselves before a set of easels on the westward balcony.
Her daughter wasted no time in laying their canvas, while Nataliya beckoned a servant fetch them a palette from the cellars. The pair swiftly put brush to canvas once the servant returned, depicting the autumn leaves of the forests west. Every so often, she heard a faint cough, and looked over to her daughter. Streaks of orange bled into the waters of the rivers and the green of the grass. The Princess frowned, and laid down her brush. My sweet girl, it still looks fine.
“H-Highness!” A gaggle of maids rushed in at the sound of her hacking. In one of the lady’s hands, she carried a bowl of stew.
The scent of spice and earth hit her nose; turmeric, and walnut? “My, that smells delicious, Ana,” she said in some attempt to calm her, though she felt a pit in her gut. Is something amiss? Her daughter drank deeply of the stew, regardless of her thoughts. And when she did, the girl seemed at peace. There were no more coughs; no pain on the girl’s face. Nataliya took up her brush, and pressed it into Anastasya’s hand with a gentle smile. Blue painted over the orange streaks in the rivers, and fine green strokes to those in the grass. The sun was now visible overhead where the two admired their portrait. “I shall frame it for all the guests to see,” she spoke proudly.
One of the servants still lingered, and cleared their throat. “Majesty, vy’re needed in the Aulic Chambers.”
“Eh?” What possibly for? “Oh... Nie matter,” she looked once more to her daughter, and nestled a kiss atop her forehead. “Be good for me, da?” Anastasya nodded, and brought up her palm. She gave a final wave to her mother who returned the gesture, and slipped into the halls at the servant’s behest.
HER HUSBAND LOOKED NEAR DEATH AS HE SAT ALONE IN THE AULIC CHAMBER. The hall was silent as the King’s head laid in his hands, wearing a deep scowl that was near hidden by the moustache on his lip. She took the seat to his right. “Skravi of Sigismund, this is the deepest of the hells!” Ivan growled, as he held up a flagon of Carrion. It was still hardly midday. “I ought to be riding. Fighting, blade in hand! Niet shuffling through sheafs of parchment like some damnable clerk!” Nataliya inclined her head, though did not speak. What followed was a blur, as always. One man sought a title, another an office. All meaningless, she sighed, and took note of each request.
“Speak, then.” Her leave was bade by the bastard. He is far too bold. Why must he always insist upon this? Her husband dismissed the notion. “She shall stay if she please,” and so she had. Then, a request.
“Nie.” She took to her drink.
“It's niet vy I ask.” Andrey spat.
“It ought to be.”
“All vy have was given unto vy by vyr husband.”
“Stay vyr tongue. By all rights it is hers.” Ivan asserted, folding his arms loose at his chest. “I told vy what would happen if vy spit vyr poison, boy.”
Nataliya withdrew to the depths of her mind. I had never been cruel to Andrey. I had never rose a hand to him, nor my voice. She pinched the bridge of her nose, and exhaled a sharp breath. “Vyr request will niet be honoured.”
“Vy were born a Morovar, last I recall.”
Ivan slammed his fist onto the table, shattering the plate that lay before him. “Vy speak to the Koenas of Hanseti and Ruska, niet vyr ***** mother.”
Andrey scoffed, shifting his gaze. “She is only what vy made of her, father. Now vy send her off into the snow, and deny me even a private word? I am vyr son.”
His words cut into her alike to that of a dagger. Aleksandr had done that over a decade ago, not my Ivan. While the two bickered, the Queen’s eyes trained past them and to a portrait on the wall. It depicted the Royal Household; Ivan, Nataliya, Marius, Josef, Anastasya, and Andrey? No, he is nowhere to be seen.
“Vy've the manner of a daughter. Cease vyr bitching, or be cast from the halls of my family.” Ivan pushed himself to his feet, and took up the scabbard that lay against the table.
“I made nie complaint.” He too ran a hand across the scabbard at his belt, eyes aflare. “Vy let this harpy drip her poison in vyr ear. Have I niet been leal? I have given vy nie reason for such scorn beyond vyr own great sordid shame. Vy would raise Stefaniya as a princess, as vyr own blooded daughter? I am vyr son - the elder.”
Andrey’s words met her ears, but her reaction was muted, and she did not offer any retort. I’ve heard this before. The back and forth of the King and his bastard continued nonetheless, and they spoke as if she too hurled vitriol. I’d known better than to speak poorly of him to Ivan, but I was cold. I had no interest in him. I treated the boy as if he were a stranger, a thing. But, he was a danger to our children, how could I have shown care? The reality of her situation dawned upon her. How many times have we argued? How many times must we go in these circles?
“Vy are a jealous, vain little creature. Begone.” The King demanded. “Vy are a bastard. Vy ought to make vyr lot with it, lest vy spend vyr life clawing at title and prestige like some Imperial palace woman.”
“It is niet vyr crown I desire, Father. Let it choke about Marius' fat neck. But, I have earned a respect vy will niet afford me. I am vyr son!” He turned the chair aside with a palm, tightening the other about his scabbard.
“Vy walk these halls by my will, I do niet deny that I sired vy on that Tiber wench. And for this, vy strut about like a chicken, squawking at my wife and trueborn children while vy whine of vyr misfortunes. The realm does niet weep for vy, who are dressed in silks, and look down upon them from a catered room in the greatest castle Aevos has ever known.”
Andrey scoffed, waving a hand in short dismissal. “Perhaps niet. But there are those that might stand with me if I wished it.”
“They might join Bossir Godunov and the rest of those shit-eating bastards at the gate; Spiked and rotting!”
“And I besides them - is that it?” He turned the hand from his scabbard then, shifting it aside. “Fine, then. I do niet cower in fear of vy. On the morrow I meet the Patriarch. For when I was a fool boy, I swore to avenge vyr defeat in a duel of mine own. Perhaps he shall save vy the trouble.”
It would not be right for him to die like that. The dishonour was no fault of the boy; Ivan had sired him. He had no say in his coming into the world, yet still he is punished for it. She knew it to be wrong, yet her fists clenched in anger. Nataliya wanted to strike the boy for his insolence as Ivan had oft done, but she could not bring herself to raise her hand against him. Would I not be so bitter had I been thrown into the cellars? My mother exiled? She found herself trudging toward the Barrow, who seemed to shrink away from her. Nonetheless, she brought him into an embrace. Her eyes closed tight, and in the darkness she heard the crackling of firewood once more. When they opened, she awoke in her bedchambers, her husband knelt at her side.
A terrible dream.
