  1. It is my belief that roleplay benefits from monk revival and approaching the server with monk revival is an important tool in promoting positive conflict RP.

Looking down on such revival or PKing on every death only promotes powergaming and the avoiding of conflict as players do not want to lose the time and energy they have invested in their characters.

We should actively encourage monk revival AND do our best to put down any stigma associated with using it.

The problem we face is that monk revival IRP encourages people to not RP as their character would realistically. Back in the day, we viewed monk revival as a dice roll. You never knew IRP whether the monks would choose to revive you or not, so we RP'd as if we had a very real chance of dying for good. I don't wanna see people going around saying "I will stand my ground because the monks will just revive me" and kill any consequence of meaningful roleplay. In addition to that, part of building an overarching story is losing. I think players need to be less afraid of losing and more focused on overall story.  I appreciate hearing your take though, love to see dialogue going on the forums. Best wishes.

What your describing actively breaks the only rules on death/monk revival and I pity you if your encountering it in a manner where you believe you are forced to believe this interpretation.

Remember that nobody knows or can allude to monk revival; if your character is presented with the idea that they died heres some ways to explain it:

      - outright denial, claim it must’ve been some form of trick by whoever claims to have killed you

      - say perhaps it was not fatal (i.e. if you went limp during combat) and perhaps someone rescued you but you have no memory of even fighting

      - give some mystical excuse “perhaps Azuras wasn’t done with me- though I have no idea what you mean by me dying I have no recollection of this. I think I would had remembered it.”

another thing is if you die to say a raid of banditing just take NPC status: imagine it wasn’t “exactly” your character who died, then you need not worry about anything

you cannot in any manner whatsoever alude to or acknowledge your own death if you monk revived; the monks will kill you on the spot if you acknowledge them in any way (this is why lore with internal revival systems can only alude to the fact sometimes that they died, because the monks actively forsake those who cheat death beyond them)

They don’t literally go around doing that, I’m more so referring to people who think ”my character wouldn’t be scared to 1v1 a raging olog because he’s been a soldier for 5 years”

it’s simply unrealistic and imo is the equivalent of acknowledging monk revival. In reality your character should fear getting stomped by something but instead they subconsciously know they don’t have to PK so they risk their characters life in ways that are a detriment to quality RP

@PancakehzHow do you feel about 10 year old children wearing full plate armor and having 20 years of medical experience?
