Sir Baudemund Euler would smile his Euler smile, what a glorious announcement!

This was an unfamiliar weight to bear, the feeling of true loss, of grief that settled deep and would not be shaken. To stand at his Duke’s side, his cousin’s side, and yet be unable to aid him, it sat heavy upon Baudemund’s heart. He had worried, for longer than he cared to admit, yet each time he voiced it, Zygmunt would wave it aside as nothing. And so he wondered where he had failed. He had seen the slow decline, had felt that something was amiss, so why had he not pressed harder? Why had he not insisted, not stood firmer, not done more while there was still time? Only now, when it was far too late, did all the answers come to him. The Golden Turtle, steadfast and unyielding, found himself weeping within his gilded shell for the first time, for one of the bale had been lost.

Loud laughter escaped Sir Baudemund Euler as he read the book. "I am the poster Knight! How wonderful!" He smiled his Euler smile.

"That...was awesome." Baudemund stated.

"Ave Adria!" Sir Baudemund Euler praised!

Faced with the failings of fragmented local watches and inconsistent enforcement of law, the Duke called upon the lawful assembly of Adrian representatives to determine the future of internal security within the Duchy. By majority assent, the assembly authorized the creation of a single, unified Ducal guardforce, bound explicitly to the Codex Lacobianus and loyal directly to the Duke. This decision marked the end of disparate watches and the beginning of a professional body tasked with enforcing law and order across Belgrade and all Adrian lands. ──────────────────────────────────── Pᴜʀᴘᴏꜱᴇ ᴀɴᴅ Rᴏʟᴇ The Ivory Guard is not a field army. Its duty lies within Adrian borders. The Duchy of Adria contains the town of Belgrade, surrounded by ducal lands, roads, and holdings. As such, the Guard’s authority extends across the town of Belgrade and all Adrian lands beyond its walls. Tʜᴇ Gᴜᴀʀᴅ ɪꜱ ʀᴇꜱᴘᴏɴꜱɪʙʟᴇ ꜰᴏʀ: » Enforcing the Codex Lacobianus » Maintaining public order within the Adrian lands. » Patrolling Adrian roads, fields, and ducal lands » Arresting criminals and suppressing unlawful assemblies » Guarding courts, councils, prisons, and executions » Acting as the Duke’s lawful hand when noble authority is invoked ──────────────────────────────────── Cᴏɴᴅᴜᴄᴛ ᴀɴᴅ Rᴇᴘᴜᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ Ivory Guards are trained to act with discipline, restraint, and authority. They are expected to be calm in speech, decisive in action, and unwavering in their obedience to the law. They do not provoke conflict, but neither do they retreat from it. Corruption, favoritism, or cruelty are considered grave disgraces within the Guard. ──────────────────────────────────── Uɴɪꜰᴏʀᴍ ᴀɴᴅ Aʀᴍꜱ The uniform of the Ivory Guard is defined by two sanctioned patterns of dress, both reflecting Adrian heraldry and lawful purpose rather than battlefield excess. While form and structure are strictly regulated, the Guard permits individual expression. Guards may freely recolour the cloth components of their issued uniform often to gaudy, striking, or highly personalized palettes provided the cut, structure and silhouettes of the uniform remain unchanged. Armor shape and garment design may not be altered. This ensures uniform recognition and authority while allowing individuality within lawful bounds. Light Guard Uniform The light uniform is a common choice among guards who favor mobility and comfort while remaining properly protected. It consists of a steel chestplate worn over chain or reinforced fabric, offering reliable defense without undue weight. Beneath and around the armor, guards wear fitted garments in regulated cuts, suitable for patrol and rapid response. While the traditional red-and-white of Adria remains common, the cloth elements of the light uniform are most frequently personalized, resulting in vivid, unconventional, or even ostentatious color schemes so long as no structural alterations are made. Plate Guard Uniform The plate uniform is an equally sanctioned option for guards who prefer heavier protection. It consists of a full plate harness, polished and well-maintained, providing comprehensive defense. Fabric is kept minimal, limited to underlayers and small heraldic accents. Even here, guards may apply their own personalized palettes to visible cloth elements such as sashes or padding, though the rigid nature of plate armor naturally limits the extent of visible customization. Responsible for doctrine, discipline, and coordination across Adria, ensuring that the Codex Lacobianus is enforced uniformly within Belgrade and across all ducal lands. » Lieutenant: Senior officers serving directly under the Captain. Lieutenants oversee multiple patrols, manage watch rotations, and ensure orders are carried out correctly. In the Captain’s absence, a Lieutenant assumes temporary command. » Sergeant: Veteran guards entrusted with day-to-day leadership. Sergeants lead patrols, supervise arrests, and maintain discipline among the ranks, acting as the primary link between officers and common guardsmen. » Corporal: Experienced guards placed in minor command roles. Corporals assist Sergeants and ensure orders are followed on the ground. This rank serves as a stepping stone between common service and leadership. » Man-At-Arms: Fully sworn members of the Ivory Guard and the backbone of its strength. Men-at-Arms conduct patrols, enforce the Codex, guard courts and prisons, and serve as the visible authority of Adrian law. » Recruit: Newly inducted members undergoing training and evaluation.
