  1. Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: Sarge878 How old are you?: 18 years of age Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, situated in the United States. GMT -5:00 Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I like to think I do. I oftentimes find myself spell-checking my work, even after I've posted it. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am an 18 year-old college student, who enjoys reading, writing, drawing, and most of all, playing video games. In fact, I do this SO much, that I aspire to either work for a company coding games, or create my very own (so I often jokingly say that the reason I play video games so much is for "market research"). How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Due to it being the Summer, I can be on almost all times of the day, although I will definitely be on monday-sunday, after 9:00pm EST (GMT -5) (You can always catch me on at other times of the day, however). What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I like to think that I know a good amount about Roleplaying. Roleplaying is a perfect way for me to truly test my ability to imagine myself standing in a far-off land and being able to "write my own story" with the help of my peers. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: Besides roleplaying on this server (eons ago, mind you) I've roleplayed on multiple other websites and forums (such as Gaia Online). In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is when you obtain information OOC, and then use it as if your character somehow "learned" it. It ruins a lot of roleplays. Once you learn something OOC, however, it is difficult to prevent yourself from Meta-Gaming. Being able to block out OOC information is something that I consider a skill that is highly valued among Roleplayers, and keeps an RP alive. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-Gaming is, while Roleplaying, you don't give your peers a chance to respond according to what you are saying. Instead, you are essentially "controlling" other player's characters, and in turn ruining the organic feeling of roleplaying. What do you expect this server will be like?: Much like what it was when I had left, a very friendly, fun, and roleplay-heavy server. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Well (like I keep saying), I did play here a long time ago, and I left simply because life became too busy for me (what with school and all) and I never had a chance to join again. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read, understood, and I agree to all the rules. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I absolutely promise. How did you hear about us? Did someone refer you?: I originally saw this server on a youtube video by PetriDaGamerNerd around July of last year. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I have, but that was for a different character and it seems to have been deleted since then. Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-%E2%96%91%E2%96%92%E2%96%93-the-lord-of-the-craft-%E2%96%93%E2%96%92%E2%96%91-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r/): Yes I have. In-Character: Character Name: Saeldur Arphenion What Race are you?: Elf What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Mali'aheral (High Elf) Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Saeldur Arphenion, started life as normal as any Mali'aheral child would--with a stringent and very expansive education, touching on all areas of Elven culture (such as the Fine Arts, swordplay, and the sciences). At the time, Saeldur and his family lived in the treetops of Laurelin, overlooking the vast Holy Princedom of Malinor. His father, Turin Arphenion, was a soldier, and his mother, Vanya, stayed home and took care of him and his brother, Veryan. On the day that Aegis fell, fire rained from the skies. Saeldur was a mere hundred and fifty years of age, and Veryan was only ninety-five. His father fashioned a boat the previous week, and gave his sons very explicit instructions. "When the time comes, you both must get onto this boat, and sail into The Verge. Go, and find your fellow Mali'aheral. Do it for your mother and I. Remember what we taught you." On that fateful day, Saeldur and Veryan climbed into the boat and, sobbing, their mother whispered, "Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya", and pushed the boat into the ocean, waving solemnly as destruction rained down around her. In the following months, Veryan became sickly. Distraught, Saeldur could do nothing but hold his brother in his arms, until he passed. Stricken with grief, Saeldur had forgotten what his father had said, and ran into the wilderness, living out many years of his life, learning about the inhabitants of this strange land--both good and bad. Now, Saeldur travels to Normandor, in hopes of meeting his fellow High Elves and starting a life in the land of Asulon. What is your Character's ambitions?: To further the knowledge of the High Elves through scientific research and dedication. He also hopes to preserve High Elf teachings throughout the many years and generations of his race. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): His books, and his pen. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? His ability to write and to research. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): ((I am still making it, if that is okay)) Other Information about your Character: Saeldur's personal creed: To be a pure Mali'aheral, one must do for the sake of the race--past, present, and future. To further the knowledge of the Mali'aheral, that is my task. By doing so, I shall stay a pure Mali'aheral. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Saeldur stood, taken aback at the many sights that the land of Asulon had to offer. Walking away from the Cloud Temple, Saeldur looked around in hopes that he would find any clues of finding the Holy Princedom of Malinor and it's capital. He spotted three figures and, filled with excitement and glee, headed for them. To his dismay, he found that it was two heavily-clad and armed highwaymen, trying to steal possessions and minas from a small, defenseless halfling! Thinking quickly, Saeldur approached the three. "Hail to you all, and how are you on this fine day?" He asked the three. "Sod off!" One of the warriors said. "We're tryin' ta take back what this'n halflin' stole from us!" "Yeah, sod off!" the other said. The second obviously wasn't as bright. "Is this true, little one? Did you steal from these men?" Saeldur asked the halfling (who was even more of a "halfling" considering Saeldur's elven height). "w-w-well y-yes but I'm just trying to feed my family..." He said with a very small, obviously scared voice. "Y'see, we're just p-poor f-farmers and--" "QUIET YOU, OR WE'LL 'AVE YER HEAD!" one warrior said. "Now now," Saeldur said. "there's no reason to come to such hasty conclusions. Can't we all just put down our weapons and settle this like civilized people?" "An' what'll ya do if we don't?" The warrior said. "Well now, let's not worry about that. We won't need to think about it if you put down your weapons, right?" Saeldur said. After a long pause, the first warrior sheathed his weapon. "C'mon Brutus, there's no sense in tryin' ta argue with an Elf. If their smooth-talkin' won't kill ya, their swords will." And with that, he turned to leave. "But Bjarne, what about the bushel of apples?" Brutus asked. "Jus' leave it alone. We can just pick some more on the way home." Bjarne said. The pair walked off into the distance, leaving Saeldur and the halfling among the quiet rustling of the leaves in the wind. "Thank you... You have no idea how grateful I am to you, Tall One." The halfling said, and he bowed, his nose almost touching the ground. "There is no need for such malice and violence in the world. Anything I can do to maintain peace, I will." Saeldur then scratched his chin. "Now, is there any chance you could help me find my way?" FIN Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Cringing at the man's garish accent, but surprisingly pleased by his choice of attire, Saeldur stared at the man for at least a few minutes. After realizing there was an awkward tension between the himself and the man, Saeldur finally spoke up. "Do you happen to have any fine wines for sale?" he said. "Nay, though I do have some genuine Dwarven Ale, brewed by the short bastards themselves." He said. Saeldur looked on in disgust, and the merchant realized the type of customer he was dealing with. "Or would you perhaps like to feast your eyes on some original Elven works of art?" Saeldur had a tiny glimmer in his eyes as he nodded his head. "Please continue." The merchant ran through everything that he had to offer in terms of paintings, books, poems, and much more, but Saeldur was not impressed, but not satisfied. Turning to go, the merchant put a hand on his shoulder. "You have not seen the thing I have saved for last." From his jacket, the man produced a small, leather-bound book. "This is a book of Elven origin. I can't read it, obviously, but maybe you can?" He handed it over to Saeldur, and he began reading it. He was astonished. "This is a detailed research journal on the subject of the Khel'khatiran... the Undead." Saeldur then put a pouch of minas down onto the counter. "I think this should pay for more than a few copies of this journal." Saeldur said. The merchant thanked him many times over. Saeldur, buried in his new book, made his way to a quiet section of town to begin reading. FIN Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Saeldur looked at the contents of the chest in amazement. "Akaln wyendriel." Tempted to take the sword of gold, Saeldur reached into the chest. However, he stopped himself. "A true Mali'aheral would never steal from an innocent." Seldur then shut the chest and began leaving the hut. However, something stopped him. He saw a balled-up piece of paper sitting on the ground. Saeldur picked it up and unfurled it. It was a wanted poster, and the dwarf drawn on the poster looked awful fierce. "So, yew found ma' hideout, 'eh?" The sharp, distinct accent of a dwarf pierced Saeldur's sharp elven ears. "Listen, llir'bortu, I mean you no harm. I was just investigating your tanoell... your home." Saeldur said very calmly. "I'll 'ave none'a yer tall-talk, ya' 'ear? Yer comin' in 'ere and tryin' ta steal ma stuff. I'll 'ave non'a it!" The dwarf said. Saeldur turned slowly to face him, his hands in the air. "There's no need for this violence. There's no need to hurt an innocent Mali'aheral." he said. "Ah said none'a tha'!" the dwarf shouted, and charged at Saeldur with an axe. Saeldur side-stepped quickly to avoid his swing, and the dwarf crashed into a bookshelf, knocking over plenty of books. "Yer gonna pay fer tha'!" the dwarf yelled as he got up and charged again. Saeldur side-stepped the dwarf again, this time grabbing his axe from him. "You won't be needing this ferlaureh." He said as he held the axe high above his head. "Now please, stop all of this violence, and act civilized." As civilized as a dwarf can be, rather. Panting, the dwarf sat down on a nearby chair. "I'm jus' tryin' ta' stay outta jail, or worse, th' gallows." the dwarf said with a sigh. "Ah made a mistake, an' tha's all. Ah don' see why ah hav'ta go ta jail fer mistakin' an innocent woman fer ma cheatin' tramp of a wife." the dwarf said sullenly. "I understand that. I'm sure any man just like you would do the same." Saeldur said apprehensively. "However, attacking random civilians like me isn't justified. You need to keep a level head, lest you make your punishment worse. I'm sure if you simply go and talk to someone, you can clear your name... or at least get an easier punishment." Saeldur said. "Y'know, fer a sharp-ear like yerself, y'make a good point. Maybe I'll do tha'." The dwarf said, smiling through his red beard. Saeldur nodded and smiled. "I'll be going now. You think about what I said, short one." Saeldur started to leave. "Before ya' go..." The dwarf started to say. Saeldur turned around. The dwarf was holding an object out to him. "Take this." The dwarf put the parcel in Saeldur's hands. The gold sword looked even more beautiful out in the open than inside that chest. FIN Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Saeldur looked at the people greeting him in the common tongue. I guess I'll have to answer them the same way. Saeldur thought. "Hello, what brings you men and women into the forest this day?" He asked them, with a clear look of disdain on his face. "Why, we're out here on our way to the next town over. We stopped here for some rest and relaxation. What do you say, care to join us?" A tall, bearded human man asked him. Saeldur pondered his offer for a moment and, considering it to be a good opportunity to study the nature of humans, decided to sit down next to the man. The rest of the day was filled with joyous feasting, dancing, music, and all around celebration. Towards the end of the evening, when the men were well enough drunk, the women took off to sleep, and the children were huddled around the fire, listening to an older man tell stories, Saeldur turned to the man who initially greeted him. "What have we been celebrating today?" Saeldur asked. "Nothing and everything, my fine Elven friend. We're celebrating being alive another day. We're celebrating a good day of travel. We're celebrating our future together as a group. And yet, at the same time, we're celebrating celebration." The man finished. Saeldur pondered this for a while, and thought about the deep, thoughtful words the man had spoken. After a while, Saeldur looked at the man. He held his goblet of wine and said, "Cheers then, llir'valah. Cheers to celebrating." FIN You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Saeldur overheard the town guards talking about bandits taking control of the road just outside of town. Making sure that his golden sword was strapped to his side, he cautiously walked out and a little down the road. Suddenly, he was surrounded by several large, muscular men, who had a greedy glint in their eyes. “Oi, you there, pointy ears. Give us all yer money and ye won’t get hurt!” one man shouted. “I am not causing any trouble, I am simply passing through to the next town.” Saeldur said. “That wasn’t what I wanted.” The man said. Saeldur could see the man eyeing his sword. “Now, tha’s a pretty sword ya have there. I want that sword. Hand it over, along with your money. Now!” The man shouted. Saeldur sighed. “I’m going to ask you again to please let me be. I am simply passing on by and do not want any trouble.” he said calmly. “That’s it, I’m tired of messin’ about!” The man shouted, and he charged at Saeldur. He turned quickly, and punched the man in the back of the head. All of a sudden, he was grabbed from behind and held. “Get ‘im!” The man holding him shouted. Saeldur felt a sharp pain in his side, and he looked down to see a knife there. Saeldur kicked at the man who stabbed him, and his foot connected with his face. Saeldur could see guards rushing down the street now. Saeldur slammed the back of his head into the face of the man holding him, and he was promptly let go. Saeldur dodged a sword, and pulled out his own. It shone brilliantly in the sunlight. He plunged it into the back of one of the men. The man groaned and collapsed, the gold sword still sticking out of his back. The guards apprehended the rest of the men, shoving them down into the dirt. One guard approached Saeldur. “Thank you for your assistance, Elf.” The guard said as he handed him a pouch of money. Saeldur pocketed the money and walked up to the man he killed, and pulled the blade from his back. He stared at the blade once more. Even though it was painted in crimson blood, it was still chillingly beautiful. This is why I don’t resort to violence often. Saeldur stared down at the dead body. Better things come of it. Better things than death. FIN
  2. been away from The Lord of the Craft for FAR too long. I can only assume I need to create a new character...

    1. LaCabra (Soda)
    2. LaCabra (Soda)
    3. Twilight Druid

      Twilight Druid

either that or make a very good story for your old one

  3. I have a strange feeling that these guys are what caused me some trouble getting into Al'Khazar today. Just before Al'Khazar's gates, there is this tunnel, right? Well a few men clad in iron were standing there with a few other people who didn't have armor. There was indistinguishable yelling, and then they yelled at a few of us innocent bystanders to get back. One even prepared his bow and shot at me several times! This didn't seem like Oren Guard behavior, although I'm not sure if they were some of these IC fellows or not.
  4. Being the Diplomat to Oren, I can bring up your concerns to Oren, if you wouldn't mind. I will speak to the High Prince beforehand, however, to plan out the best course of action.
  5. I think that the new layout is great, the only real problem I have is that with the old layout it was easier to tell at a glance which threads have new responses. Other than that, great work!
  6. Congratulations, High Prince! I will be there on the day of your wedding!
  7. MC Name: Sarge878 RP Name: Nero Sable What nation are you applying for? Ambassador to Oren Do you have any past encounters with this nation? If so explain: I have visited a few times, and have talked with residents and guards about the city while I was on business for High Prince Native. Why are you applying for this nation? I am applying to this nation, not only to learn about the Human culture and make many allies, but I also want to improve human-elf relations and to create a better, stronger bond and better unity between the elves and the humans. Why do you want to become a Diplomat? I want to become a diplomat because I have a strong interest in politics. I love learning more about cultures and about the inner-workings of governments. I have strong linguistic skills, and I am passionate about making Aegis a safer, better, friendlier, and more personal place. What does being a Diplomat mean to you? To me, a diplomat means being strong in your (and your nation's) beliefs, as well as working your hardest to achieve end goals that are far bigger than what is able to be seen. To me a diplomat cares for his people, and is passionate enough to represent his Nation to the fellow Nations of Aegis. If you were to recieve the position go through a sample day of your duties: Well, first I would probably check in with the High Diplomat to first see what it is that is needed to be done immediately. Then, after that I would go into the far reaches of Malinor to find out the most current, up to date information about the "going-ons" of our Nation. I would look for any Princes or Princesses who may need my assistance or may be in need of me to travel to Oren on important business. After that I would most likely travel to Oren (regardless of being on business for a Prince/Princess [i would just get there faster if I were helping them]) and talk to any diplomats, guards, or any kind of high-ranking official who can tell me about the current state of Oren. I'd finish off my daily duties by talking to these officials and bringing Malinor's opinions to the table, and working out any issues we may have together. How long have you been playing LoTC? 3 weeks-a month How much time do you have a week to play LoTC? I can essentially play any time, any day, although with college starting in 11 days it'll probably be mon-sun 7pm-3am EST (GMT -5:00)
  8. Very interesting manuscript, Aerin. I look forward to reading more of your findings on the Elves' Exodus. That era of history intrigues me greatly.
  9. I will most likely attend! I may not fight, but I will gladly come and watch! Just let me know what the date and time will be and I will try to be there!
  10. It must have taken quite a powerful individual to move an entire city! It must have been the Wandering Wizard! Anyways, I'll have to go find it for myself. I'm glad that you figured out what happened!
  11. Maybe High Prince Native (or any other Prince or Princess, for that matter) can elaborate on this mystery? I walked by the site again and saw around three people there looking around, but I was on some important business and could not stop to talk.
  12. Possibly. I've been trying to get in contact with Loganos, who is found in (what used to be) that settlement. Perhaps it has been moved to a different location?
  13. Indeed. The settlement that was on the road to Kal'Urugan, on the other side of the forest from Serpent's Ridge.
  14. I was curious; what exactly happened to the Dark Elf Settlement? I went there to find a man known as "Aluadas Prince Loganos" to talk with him, and to my surprise found that the area in which the settlement was in was replaced by sand and cacti! Does anyone know what happened to it?
  15. Indeed, minecarts might be a little pricey, but they are well worth the spent minas.
