Re: Dwarves And Magic (Ooc)
Nefarious Aus Shitpost replied to Lima's topic in Athera Roleplay Archive
Because that is what we were forced to do when the Lore Team and the Magic Team decided it would be appropriate to overwrite a one and a half year old lore, that had been adhered to by the entire dwarven population (aside from a few people we know as DINOs), suddenly, without actually consulting the dwarven playerbase.- 99 replies

Re: Dwarves And Magic (Ooc)

Same precedent. Basically every dwarf is a bastard and bastards in dwarven society are permitted to bear the family name. We have a bunch of people who are DINO (Dwarf in Name Only) associated with our clan, which is basically a big black stain on us, especially with the current prestige system being used by the Kingdom. Actually gets bad with the Irongut Clan as only we/they can use magic, therefore any dwarf using magic is automatically associated with them, therefore staining our good(?) name. And those "new dwarves" don't exist. There was one player I think who played a dwarf, didn't adhere to the culture or religion (or even the curse) who wanted to be a mage and then also a bunch of people who were not dwarves, once they found out that we didn't permit magic (but knew the MT did) made dwarves with magic just to piss us off.- 99 replies

You can not simply claim to be an Irongut, you do actually require permission from whoever happens to be incharge of the Irongut Clan at the current date (Hiebe at this time). It would be like me making a character and stating he is a son of Godfrey Horen, without actually having permission from Mog or whoever is incharge of House Horen currently. Plus it results in suddenly having a huge number of undesirables associated with our clan... and suddenly our clan has no more respect.- 99 replies

Re: Dwarves And Magic (Ooc)
Nefarious Aus Shitpost replied to Lima's topic in Athera Roleplay Archive
The majority of the dwarves attempting to "impose" this curse/blessing on the dwarves are predominately the remains original dwarves population from Aegis who lived with and used this lore, where it was passed on to most of the dwarves we have now. The ones dissenting either obtained magic after magic restrictions were dropped with the end of the Magic team OR had no intention of ever actually roleplaying with the wider dwarven community and hence to umbrage to the fact we were 'infringing on their rights' (when they can just as easily call their character a human and no one would bat an eye, because that is basically what they are). This has been an issue for a long time and it should have been cleaned up then and there, rather then left to fester and become more difficult to sow up. Not to mention, Ambrose (if I remember correctly) fully endorsed this when he was still on the magic team. As for saying that "those people are Ironguts from way back" just consider for one what I mentioned about them having no intention to integrate with dwarven society: we do not want those people associated with our clan because of the completely out of the blue in character repercussions of being associated by blood with a band of traitors and anarchists because a bunch of people in a team made a decision a long while ago which was blatantly against the majority of the dwarven playerbase (you know, the ones being affected by said decision).- 99 replies

Re: Dwarves And Magic (Ooc)

Alright, as I am one of the Irongut dwarves (by some extent), I will explain. It has been role-played since Aegis, that dwarves have been distant from the void. The Irongut clan (well one line of it anyway) bears Aengulic blood which sort of reverses this effect allowing them to manipulate the Void. This had been considered canon for a long period of time, before the Lore Team was brought into existence. It was not declared when the Lore Team/Magic Team became a thing and someone complained about it and it was stated to be non-canon after being upheld, by the dwarven community, for the dwarven community for almost a year and a half previous. Regardless of whether it is canon or non-canon (I will continue to roleplay it as canon myself), every dwarf believes that they can not use magic unless they are of the blood of Dwain. This is drilled into them from the moment they are able to comprehend words. If it is canon, then they are powergaming, and if it is non-canon, they are metagaming (and quite potentially powergaming also). Every dwarven mage in history that I am aware of is of Irongut descent and it will remain that way. I, nor others in the dwarven community, will not be held responsible for the chastisement that a person who attempts to violate this will receive should they make attempt to violate it. If at all possible, we would like to bring up this issue with the Lore Team so we can get this solved.- 99 replies

Dwarves And Magic
Nefarious Aus Shitpost replied to Cyndikate's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Magic is taboo if you aren't a confirmed relative of the Irongut clan. If you attempted to use typical arcane magic, you would be metagaming the fact that you could use it. -

I dislike the new crafting system; its nifty sure, but it is very foreign and un-minecrafty. The incredible numbers of custom items is stupid too. -
Extend The Seasons To Add Realism
Nefarious Aus Shitpost replied to Stevie's topic in Anthos OOC Archive
I support this idea, lets have a 7 day long seasons, with 2 days leeway wither way, that was seasons are long and are not fixed. -
Exactly this; I mean, look at the Kharajyr and how well that turned out.
