Hey hey people, firespirit44 here. Welcome to the ST’s newest Indeed.com job board. Below are some projects Temp ST can apply towards. They will have a short desc of what the project is about, the time likely required, the people overseeing the project, and the deliverables expected.

So without further ado, here’s the new projects we’ll be introducing to the ST Jobs Board:

Hey hey people, firespirit44 here. I’m here to talk about how recruitment in the Story Team will change up, as well as our plan moving forward as a team.

The Story Team is, at the end of the day, a volunteer job position in LoTC. There’s simply no way of circumventing that fact. Lore reviews, events, guide creations, it honestly does take a lot of time. We realize that it's simply impossible to ask someone to stay on the team for a year or more, and that we need to reimagine how people join the ST. I think it's fair that we outline the details of the new positions and a few changes we’ll be making to current ones.

So without further ado, here’s the new positions we’ll be introducing to the ST:

    q4rXiQW.png

    Temporary ST

These are project based ST that largely ignore the rest of the duties of the ST, but are hyper focused on one or two tasks assigned by them. They will not partake in wider activities such as lore voting, sreqs, but rather have a limited time frame to complete projects, such as ST actors for the Inferi Event, or a long running campaign like the Nether. We may even  bring on writers to complete the Aengudaemonic project and etc.

The pex given to these individuals will be lower than those given to full ST members, though it’ll be enough to do their jobs. And we will set a timeline for it, e.g. 1 to 3 months.

    Temporary STs are expected to:

Agree to a timeline for the project to be completed.

To commit a certain amount of time to the project at hand.

To still follow the rules of the ST and not leak/abuse.

To ensure the project will be accomplished to the best of their abilities.

    Permanent ST

The permanent ST staff are expected to stay for 3 months - 1 year or longer, and therefore are expected to implement longer event campaigns, to handle player complaints against claims of powergaming/misuse of lore, and expected to contribute heavily to the narrative of the server lore wise and event wise, preferably for the length of the map. Holding permanent STs to this standard means that there isn’t going to be whiplash when initial concepts are scrapped over and over again when new management comes in.

The permanent ST are expected to:

Monitor and review lore so that it blends in to LOTC’s unique narrative

To ensure implementation of lore pieces in a way that is memorable and interactable with the playerbaseTo handle player complaints on powergaming/misuse of lore

    To handle FAQ about lore

To monitor ST systems/ lore mechanics like nodes, herbs, etc

To collaborate with each other and with players to form a greater story narrative for the playerbase

    Trainers

In order to promote good culture within the team and to improve the learning experience of newer STs, we plan on reintroducing the trainer role. Trainers are expected to last for a year or more, and will really push the limits of accountability, organization skills, and tracking productivity. This role is designed to be very human-facing-role, with heavy emphasis on communication.

Trainers will be tasked with the following:

    Ensuring activity checks.

That they can answer FAQ from staff internally and externally.

To be very familiar with the systems of governance IE: How to write briefs, how to assemble mag pieces, etc

To address STs who are reprimanded and give actionable tasks to improve

    Be proficient in ingame/forum commands.

Ensuring ST rules are being followed.

To host onboarding sessions with every new ST member.

    Managers

Now that the merge with the ET and LT has finally been completed, managers are now morphing to take the role of furthering the role of the ST. Managers are now experimenting with different systems, such as alchemy integration, long-event-campaign formats, resources,  interesting lore reveals, ST resource divisions, etc.

    Managers are expected to:

Ensure the long term growth of the ST and how to achieve player-focused narrative.

To think about the ST from a narrative macro point of view, incorporating unique LOTC lore.

To facilitate collaboration between ST and other teams such as Dev, Community, etc.

Ensuring that the team is being well run and that player complaints about STs are being handled

To be held accountable to the player base and the admins.

    Announcement

And finally, due to the introduction of Temp ST, I’m looking for a lot of temporary staff for about 3 months for the Inferi events. I’ll be pasting a job board soon to announce what projects are currently in the works. If you are interested, I would encourage you to apply! All you have to do is put a [Temp] on the side of your minecraft name, and under [How can we as the Story Team contribute toward the server's story?] just specify what project you want to work for.

Hope to work with all of you soon!

All of us had a ton of fun with the event, we could definitely tell you were getting a little overwhelmed with us all running all over the place, but despite it, you still were able to deliver a very rich and exciting role play experience. I would also like to thank you on behalf of the entirety of Norland for being one of only two ET’s who have done an event within Norland (with norlanders at least) since the begginning of Arcas, we’ve got mad respect for you and look forward to whatever comes next.

My pleasure. It was not that I sought Norland out specifically, it was really by chance and RP that I met Edward and Chryssa that led me to Norland. I didn’t even know Norland exists, but that’s the beauty of being on the ST and being to just roll with the punches haha.

Glad you all enjoyed it. Stay tune for more to come.

  4. The Vanishing Memories: Part 1

There exists a ruin, a crumbling cobble structure behind the city of Morsgard. Existing before the Norlanders took hold of it, already in ruined long before that. Approached by a man wrapped in black and leather,  the Order of Purifiers agreed to help, as they sought to unravel a growing mystery, of a vanishing castle that appeared on the mountains near Urguania, once every full moon...

    RxqQYmj.png

Within the ruins of the tiny structure, lays a pile of bodies; burnt, mummified by ice. Their souls long departed, yet the High Keeper Alisa would still grant them the prayers of the All-Father. A rusted sword, beyond recognition. Fragile as glass, with a muted blue hilt still preserved from the snow. A blackened pendant, as the bodies were being burnt. They would soon find out, that this would not be the last time they would pray for this nameless pile of bodies.

Dark Souls 3 on PC has a game-breaking bug - here's how to fix it ...

As the full moon rose once more, and the clock striking midnight, the world dead to right. Dominus Fill’Yar would seek communion with the departed, partaking in her shamanistic sword dance ritual, with lingering grey lights as its attendants. The grey aura would slip off the rusted sword, forming a ghastly figure. Burnt, tattered, with blood dripping down its hands, its jaws sliced cleanly apart, it turns its gruesome countenance towards the party wordlessly, his flesh seemingly fused with the metal armour that he wore. A kite shield in one hand, bearing the mark of a burned tree, yet slashed and almost smashed beyond recognition. It holds its hands up for its sword back, only to grasp at air, the sword glowing softly in the moonlight. It turns, looking at the sword with an almost forlorn look, almost as if rejecting its reality, before turning to demand answers and berating the party for being late, asking hurriedly for Troy the Black Iron.

The sounds of an otherworldly howl could soon be heard, growing louder and louder with every passing hour in the night. It was not until when the sounds of women and children screaming did the revenant then known as Knight Commander Randald yell at everyone to get to their stations. A ferocious snowstorm  would soon engulf them all, covering their vision; as the revenant picks up its kite shield, and tries grasping at its sword one last desperate time.

When they opened their eyes, they would feel the sun shine upon them. Although they were still in the frigid North, there were signs of grass poking out from beneath the snow. A different season in a different time, they mused. But the screams, they never faded. The party would turn to look at the grey revenant from before, though he seems alive and full of colour now; his tattered cape and battered shield still present, the sword before him now more real, as he reached forward to grasp it. Blood still adorned his features, his face already burned and marred beyond belief, blood running down his arms, soaking into the gravel they tread on. Yet he stood tall, and demanded that this new group of soldiers to make haste to the West Gate, as they held the South.

Hellhound designs, themes, templates and downloadable graphic ...

No sooner as they were greeted by the barricade commander Major Konelyn, the new party demanded that Konelyn would pass control of the barricade towards them. A quick exchange of information occurred, before a dark, reddish beast would lunge towards them all, bounding across the bridge and past the barricade, snarling and biting at anything it could see. It was a massive Zekul, seeking out the souls of those that remained trapped in the tiny village of Hepdeen. There was no time to waste, as the party of Norlanders would fall in line behind their commanders, shooting and slaying at the mad hell-beasts. It was only as dawn came, did the attacks cease to be, with more bodies to add to the already crowded floor. Konelyn wept alone for his comrades, as the party went on to fortify and scout the area around.

There was no hope to be found. A short scouting expedition led by Jager would turn into a full blown retreat, as red humanoid creatures armed with curved falchions emerge from the shade, hacking and slashing at the approaching party. They fought valiantly to make it back to the barricade, though the Za’rei did not give chase, content to await for their prey to despair, as night would soon fall once again.

    MCwelsZ.png

Seeing the situation turn hopeless, Konelyn begged the adventurers a way to break free, to escort the Princess’s pendant to safety.  They met with the grim-faced beauty, Princess Lenevie, who looked less gaunt than the men, clutching her emerald pendant as if it was her only lifeline. She tried to make excuses to stay, but the adventurers would not be sympathetic, eventually bullying her into following them.  They crossed the burning buildings to meet once again with Knight Commander Randald, who now had a few more dead knights to add to the pile of growing bodies. The area would stink of puke, blood, and organs, but Randald calmly explained the situation before them; they were all doomed, giving the Princess an almost incensed look.

As men and food were dwindling, a desperate plan was concocted on the third day of the siege. The Za’rei were too strong and too numerous, so Randald himself would pay the price to clear the way, with his band of Knights of Trishna. He tasked the reinforcements to safeguard the Princess’s pendant, that he would spend his men’s blood freely for the cause, if the Kingdom was to be warned. They marched forward, facing the Damnable Host like prisoners upon executions day, with each men knowing he was going to their doom.

A cry went out, and the Knights of Trishna charged forwards, throwing themselves towards the creatures without second thought, before being quickly overwhelmed. The adventurers would fight and protect their rear as they desperately tried to break through, their greaves crunching heavily against the snowy roads. They would run and run, until the Princess’s lungs gave up, collapsing on top of some stone stairs, as the tower in the distance blew its horn, signaling reinforcements. The sound of men and fighting were long gone, it was unknown what befell the fate of Knight Commander Randald.

A snowstorm soon picked up once more, engulfing the weary and exhausted party, with only the image of Princess Lenevie kneeling in the snow, her emerald pendant clutched tightly to her chest, as she grieved for the men left to die, so that they may clear her way.

They party would find themselves flung out from where they came from; daylight, by the ruined castle, where they first met Randald. As they turned to see the Knight Commander, they would witness him kneeling in the snow, with his burnt and marred kite shield planted over the body of a massive Zekul, his sword starting to loosen in his grip. “Curse you, Princess...” The man would say, before slumping forward in his death, his head bowed low, as the rest of his comrades bodies begin to fade against the morning light.

    LHeA8a7.png

The party looked at each other, completely befuddled. Was it a dream? If so, why was there gore on their blades, and their armour dented and burnt? As they were wondering such thoughts, the light where Randald passed seemed to glow, shard of rocks emitting a faint light beneath his corpse. Lightstone, the mineral that would only exist in a place where faith was the strongest. And it was in that faith to the adventurers, that Randald would willingly give his life away for, in order to complete his mission. He would not go quietly into the night, as he raged and raged against the dying light, making the Damnable Host pay dearly for each and every one of the Knights of Trishna.  As he dropped his sword, the magic would soon turn it rusting once more, though its fuller would now bare the engraving clearly:

Knight Commander Randald of the Knights of Trishna.

OOC Thoughts from firespiri44 next page ->

Hey all, thanks to those who joined in. It started out as a minor event, but the world in which these ghosts kept getting wider and wider, and soon I had the entire story told out by them. I had quite a lot of fun, getting used to the new abilities of summon and disguise, I have @ScreamingDingo to thank for that. Big thanks to @StickyPeptoas well for being on hand to just help out. It was difficult trying to herd that many players especially when they all go on to do their own things. And you’ve got a great skin for a Princess. Shoutout as well to @Kalehart, your revenant lore/rewrite was very helpful.

I still strongly believe in mixing ‘playing minecraft’ and ‘roleplaying in minecraft’ as a concept. Its why the event had some very intense PVE moments, but I wish that this aspect not be ignored. Just because I run PVE, does not mean that I dont place any importance in the setup, the rp leading up to it, nor the strange OOC shift as everyone got a little too excited and just wanted the next high, without exploring the other RP opportunities. My apologies to those who were non-combatants, I simply did not have enough of me to cater towards it. I wanted to do some medic rp and strategizing, but there just wasn’t enough time, oocly and rply.

I think I can do better for the next. This is a long event after all, so look forward to it.

For those of you who want to get involved, I would recommend visiting Kaedrin and Morsgard. You’ll be able to find the leads to join in, or you can just message me over the forums, and we can arrange for you to naturally slide in! This is a multi-sector event, so anyone can join in if they can find the lead.

Once again, thank you for participating. Cant wait to see what happens to Siegfried the Grey next.

  6. Hey hey people, firespirit44 here. I’m starting a little project, called the RP Death Donations. If you feel that you have a character you want to kill (PK, no backsies), why not donate them to an event? I wont promise you the best death, but it’ll be memorable, and preferably impactful to you and those your character interacts with. Many thanks for the idea @ScreamingDingo

If you’re interested, just fill out this simple form. And if I have a suitable event that I want to run with, I’ll give you a shout over the forums and we can coordinate from there.

    MC name:

    RP name:

Where does your character live in rp?

How would you like this character to die?:  (No promises, but I’ll try and make it work if possible. Not first come first serve, depends on what events I run)

  7. This data is pretty insane, big props to the CT Admin and her team for spearheading the data gathering.

Could you also track where these new applicants are coming from? I think it would greatly help out to understand where the newer players are finding LOTC, and possibly look into promoting content on those channels.

  8. The old grizzled Paladin would watch as Zadrik and Crumena assisted the ailing dwarf onto the back of their cart, knowing that he had already befriended, and immediately lost a friend. A being from a different world, it was by chance that the two would meet under the ominous clouds hanging over Luxem. He sighs, turning back inwards to the keep, muttering a real, sincere and heartfelt player for the first time in centuries.

“May you rejoin those you love in the stars, Aengoth Starbreaker. I shall carry out your wish.”

  9. Upon the tavern located on the right of the road upon entering Helena, the notice board would have several drawings of an incredibly large, yet colourful bird be posted, with golden eyes, and vicious sharp talons. The notice would say:

To anyone traversing the Queen’s Iseles, beware! For it seems that giant birds that dive as fast as lightning can be seen from the jungle’s coast, and will attack those who attempt to approach it. Those who wish to avoid and plan a safer route should contact Juan Lyon (King of Cartography / Cartographyking

    image.thumb.png.884aa10258e0566c66bbea4f937b220e.png

((If you do manage to find this bird, message firespirit44 and we can setup some rp. However, be warned, with each encounter the behaviour of these birds will change, and they’ve already been met once))

    q9zSQZJ.png

MC Item description (the exact description that will be used for the MC item if this MArt is accepted):

A constellation of stars and runes dot the edge of this golden pocket watch, telling time is impossible with it as the arms never function as suspected. It was once called the Seeker’s Compass, a blessed tool of Xan’s used to find those worthy of joining the ranks of the Order of the Golden Lance and uphold the Creed of the Lion. Instead of keeping track of time, the Chrono is tracking and reliving memories of those its shared with, preserving the thoughts and feelings of Paladins of old. Flaring with a crisp sapphire flow when near large quantities of corruption and taint. Always tugging to the site of such unholy occurrences. The symbol of the lance is proudly engraved on the lid of the watch.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

This is a roleplay artifact for those who want to setup rp with the paladins, and have been used consistently when the Order of the Seekers were a thing in Athera. It gives it a bit more flavour than just agreeing to meetup at a keep or a tavern, or if any dark characters want to setup rp with corruption and the sorts. It also gives a way to preserve memories, with the many memory type events we did back in 3.0. Factcore and Mrsyth will be able to verify those.

    Rply, the Chrono can:

    1. The runes and the numbers will align if they meet someone worthy. They contain symbols of the Lion, of the Spear, of a Winged Tree, of a Runic Feather. Only those taught by Jack will be able to interpret the symbols, its not specifically a paladin artifact only.
    2. The chrono will glow blue and point out the taint and help guide the paladin towards it
    3. To ‘store’ a memory, the paladin must emote using mist weaving, conjuring up images and feelings from the person/people they are interacting with. Only what is thought of will be recorded, if the person refuses to think about a certain thing, it will remain a golden blur if anyone attempts to revisit the unfinished memory . Only those taught by Jack will know how to unleash and store the memories.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    1. Memories can be inaccurate, it depends on the person recording and the person giving the memory. If for example while Jack is recording with a person, and Jack does not like that person, the background of the memory can appear as more muted, like a black and white memory. If he is angry at the memory, the memory will be tinged in red, and Jack and anyone else could even give a narration to the memory.
    2. The chrono cant be used as some sort of MLM recruitment scheme. The ‘finding’ part must be agreed before hand by both parties oocly.
    3. Chrono does nothing against the taint. Chrono cant be used to metagame the corruption of a person or place, the corruption has to already have happened. Also should not be used for metagaming, this is just a nice way to rp finding out about certain corruption events.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

The way how this works is as Fury_Fire mentioned in his guide of connection, that Xan would show the new acolyte the duties, triumphs, and failures of the Golden Lances during their connection. Its Mistweaving with storytelling elements, and requiring Lightstone to operate.

Before this in 3.0, many memory type events were done to show the playerbase the effect of Setherien on their world, to stand up to it before it fell like Sheerok. This was to convince an otherwise reluctant playerbase in supporting the Golden Lances, but it turned out to be a very powerful driving force of why they managed to rally behind the GL. I’d just like this to be documented this time, since MART wasn’t a thing back in Anthos.

MC Item description (the exact description that will be used for the MC item if this MArt is accepted):

An impressive staff composed entirely of glistening Carbarum, having survived the war of the Black Wrym. The staff resonates an aura of absolute wisdom. Numerous numerals and Arcane-like-icons line the shaft of this mighty staff. Shimmering with a perception of sagacity. At the very tip of the staff lay two arrows; one long and narrow, and one half as long as the other, crossing over each other and pointing upwards. Appearing rather similar to that of a clock’s hand striking twelve.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

    Combat

    1. The staff was rply used as a defensive item to cast Guardian’s Bulwark: Bubble Shield | Combat | T4 from the paladin spell list, increasing its radius to from 3 blocks to 6 blocks.
    2. Staff reduces the emote timing of shield from 3 emote cast to 2 emote cast

    Non-combat

    1. Can act as 1 spell slot for Paladin healing or purging

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    1. The radius is expanded from 3 blocks to 6, the strength is same, emote cast time reduced from 3 to 2
    2. Doesn’t buff any other spells apart from the 3 mentioned above
    3. Cant be used by a non-paladin, would just be a fancy staff otherwise
    4. Any dark being who attempts to use it must first corrupt it, or risk having their souls damaged from the holy magic
    5. Dark beings inside the barrier would simply feel discomfort as its not an offensive purging spell, just an area consecrated with holy energies

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

The general idea behind that staff when I first made it was a defensive rp item that could summon a shield, as seen in this event picture from 2013. The clock symbolizes a return to order, and thus why the staff is able to heal as well as shield, being Xan’s will to return things to their natural state. It’s not a legendary artifact like the golden lance was, but it was still part of Xan’s realm, and it wasn’t created in the human world. The mists it summons thus is of a stronger divine quality, capable of buffing the shield and healing spells.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

    Paladinism

Summarise the Lore of this magic(s):

The Aengul of Order and Guardianship, represented by the incandescent sunlight, Paladinism was born as Xan himself saw the virtue and righteousness for the cause of Hilan and Zyanna, the founders of what would eventually be known as the Golden Lance. Seeing the terrors that the Black Dragon Setherian wrought upon the land, Xan consecrated the siblings, charging them to protect the descendants. The manifestation of their powers would come to each individual uniquely in their own way, though they would group themselves into Vindicators, Wrymstalkers, and what would have been known as Clerics. Service to Xan requires deeds, not simply lip service, as the Aengul expects his worshipers to maintain the balance of the world. Inaction is as good as letting all that dark to fester and rot, though this hard-handed action has caused strife with his Divine Sibling, Tahariae, the Aengul of Purity. The basic creed of Xan is to not harm innocents, not to be tempted by greed of their gifts, protect and safeguard the innocents, and to maintain and eliminate threats that the dark would bring to the land.

The holy magic itself comes from the need of the Paladins to invoke their divine connection in times of great need, manifesting as mists, colours varying from Gold, Emerald, or Silver. Mist manipulation of old used to materialize the legendary armour of the Golden Lance, but as time went on, that art has clearly diminished and been forgotten. Currently Paladins are able to cast a range of spells that divide into a few categories according to my own understanding (note this is NOT how the Story Team classifies them as)

    Enchanting:

    1. Holy affinity
    2. Lion’s Roar (Buffing allies, so kinda like enchanting)

    Summoning

    1. Ambuscade Rune
    2. Guardian’s Bulwark: Shield + Bubble Shield
    3. Holy Spear: Dawn’s Spear + Sun Spear
    4. Mist Weave Armor

    Healing

    1. Mist Healing
    2. Mist Purging
    3. Blessed Resurrection

Some unique characteristics of the wider magic for Paladinism is the Lightforge / Blessed Artificery, that allows creation of blessed weapons that is infused through Mistweaving. They have an end game, once known as Keepers, but they’re now called Wardens as a ‘creature’ (requiring CA).  They have a Chancery, a holy ground in which they can spawn Lightstone, as well as be the conduit for connection with Xan himself.

As a final note: I understand that Xan magic has changed drastically since its inception when I wrote it, but I would like to thank current lore holder @BonesOfTheEarth for the excellent guide. I feel confident that I understand this current iteration of Paladinism, and would like to continue my rp by formalizing my teacher app.

Hey @thesmellypocket thank you for your submission. Unfortunately your submission doesn't fit in with the competition rules. The rule is to create region lore for this map, and we do not take in submissions from anything else.

Submit a piece of lore about a region in LOTC with a screenshot attached to it, and explain its characteristic or backstory of it.

We only take in lore for culture or animals if its a side effect for the region lore, rather than the main focus. It also does not have an LOTC region in it, so I'm sorry to say your submission can not be accepted. Go ahead and submit it to the lore team if you want though.

  16. Hey man thanks for the tag. Looks amazing kilgrim, nice to see you hanging around again . The trailer is pretty beast, how much are you looking for as a fair price for it, and to commission for other area highlights in the future?
