  2. (Have joined Miners + Lumber + Farming)
  3. (Pin this!) Can I git de' title High Merchant? Suuds mure fancy-like. Also, I'm interested in joinin' all de' guilds! *chuckles* I dabble in all d'ese t'ings, plus I'm always luukin' tew help de Kingdom. Wuuld officials get a lightened quota by de way? Just fer helpin' out in de city in udder ways? I t'ink det'd be fair. (I'd also like to say that as a merchant, apples traditionally go for 5 minas an apple. So the quota trade number of .5 is way too little. Up it up a bit, to 3-5. Gold ore could be lowered, though 150 ain't a bad price. Lower coal a bit, and Iron can be lowered a bit (20~25))
  4. (( well this sucks who am i going to combat log away from now? :( good luck in your future bud, hope you have a change of heart and come back where we need you)
  5. Lad, I be a warrior as well as a trader. My axe be gettin' rusty, n' I t'ink det dese rebels need to be put down fer der nefarious activites. I aren't askin' fer de entire Legion to get involved but if anyone else be luukin' to fight, d'en its guud to fight togedder.
  6. (( I totally agree with Dunhagen. A town square is essential to our growth. However, there is the question of where to place it. IMO, it should be in an area where other races can be in, like "Outer Karik". Just so that other races can trade and exchange goods easily with us. It's up to you guys where you wish to put it but it needs to be set up soon))
  7. Aye plus we cuuld use sum siege tech det us dwarves need to be testin'
  8. Alt'ough some claim det dis is just anudder man in de Braveaxe dynasty, I t'ink Broski's system be sound n' well. It combines elements of all de' dwarves n' produces a strong government backed by t'ree kings. I like it a lot, especially wit a balance of power between 3 kings.
  9. Eidder reserve a ticket 'ere (on this post) or send me a pm. If ye' got extra guuds ye' like to sell, it cost 35 minas per elven minute to stand on de' auction platform and let people bid on yer guuds.

We sell our goods, and any lads wishin' to stop by can bid fer d'ere goods. An example of an auction goes like dis... Auction Leader: Next up, George Pantaloons! George Pantaloons: Sellin' Gold! Starting price: 100 minas, increase bids by 25! Bidder 1: 125! Bidder 2: 175! Bidder 1: 225! Bidder 3: 300! Mr Pantaloons: Can anyone beat 300...? Bidder 1: 350! Best deals fer both sides can be found 'ere! To avoid people high biddin' just to cause ruckus, we 'ave hired a combination of Dwarven Legion-men n' Mercenaries to enforce de' rule det wut ye' bid is wut ye' pay. Failure to acknowledge yer bid will result in punishment. Dis Auction'll take place in Kal'Karik, de' Dwarven Capital, in de Tradin' District. (This Sunday, 2/12 2:30 pm EST). It'll go on fer de amount of slots purchased. We need both people to auction, n' people to be bidders! Udderwise we can't run it. Post 'ere if ye' wish to eidder or just visit de auction, we need to meet a certain quota to make dis auction wurt' it fer everyone. It cost money to enter n' bid, t'ough. (So 35 if you reserve your ticket through PM, or 50 if you just walk in) If yer a bidder, bring at least 1000 minas, so we know ye' serious bout de auction n' not just d'ere to cause trouble. - High Lord of Economics, Balthar Blackaxe

  17. 1. The problem I see with places like Holm and Kal'Dwain is that they haven't actually benefitted the Dwarven nation, but they've just been advertising for themselves and solely benefiting themselves. The race issue can be mitigated on surface outposts, but seperate towns are "seperate" and encourages the Dwarven pop to split. 2. Factions don't have to be holds. Holds encourages coalitions and splits in views and discourages Dwarven Unity as the Hold becomes > Kingdom, just as Clan's had become > Kingdom. 3. That's fine, but keep that to surface outposts. Our lore essentially forces us to have only Dwarves in Karik 4. Seperate Holds still would encourage sectionalism and partisanship just as clans would 5. I was actually thinking of turning Kal'Dwain into a mining colony for the Legion, but its twist would be that it would also be a prison colony/slave colony. Prisoners and Slaves would work the mines for the Legion which monitor the colony. Similar to Cidhna Mine from Skyrim, tell me what you think. On regards to fast travel...we will have to wait for it, something we can't just idle with. Furthermore, fast travel'll probably cost money and it does not secure unity. 6. We aren't the USA. It's just an analogy I noticed, and its not only attributed to the USA but any large empire who are concerned of state's rights and national government. 7. Agreed. This'll be fun to do in IC. I do wish to talk to anyone with concerns over teamspeak about the reforms though, because this can truly work as long as we have people in the right positions. As Charles said, giving each clan or just giving all of the current outposts their own lands and their own "Hold" is just going to result in further divisions and splits. We must insure the value of the kingdom and how precious it is to the Dwarven custom in Asulon.
  18. (( Regarding your argument about a, we cannot tolerate this clan elitism and displacement. It's sickening how people try to put their clan and selfish desires before the survival of our nation, and it has definitely harmed us in the past. The kingdom should be the priority. Also, I kind of feel like the noble clans aren't even noble, as anyone can get in with a 50 word app... As for the argument about B, traditionally we don't accept non-races into positions like High Lord, or Legion supervisors, things that we need. While there have been exceptions unless we open our doors to all the other races, we need to stick together as we are the only race who are so secretive that they almost never allow other races to the bowels of their city Finally, disagreements are a part of politics. I would rather have some engaging politics then have three split settlements, none of them particularly exceeding in anything and all alone weak. A united kingdom is almost always stronger then coalition of city states These political system would provide an actual political backbone to Karik that does not revolve around clans. We should talk about this in a few meetings, of course. I don't think holds will work just because they are too far apart and less unified so we can't back each other, plus we do not have the Dwarven pop to support it, but intelligent discussion about civil reforms is fine by me This whole scenario reminds me of the writing of the Constitution in early American history, and the ideal of big national government versus states rights.... :P And National Government ended up working best xD))
  19. ( I think as Dwarves we must realize that having three giant separate settlements is difficult for a couple reasons a) It doesn't really fit our lore. Dwarves are tradition-based, inclusive, and secretive. They don't make new towns and cities often, as they focus on their current situation. A good example of this in other games that Charles brought up is in Dwarf Fortress, where the Dwarves all work together to protect their culture and secrets B) As Dwarves, we can only help each other. Because of our lore restricton of not permitting other races into high positions, we have to solely rely on one another. If all the dwarves are spread across three kingdoms, then there isn't enough dwarves to help one another out and govern over one another. We aren't humans with a huge pop and tolerant of other races, so we can not afford to make our nation of three giant settlements. c) Dwarves follow a more nationalistic based government anyway, not varied city-states. We really do not have city-states which is what having three kings representing three settlements would imply. We work for one another, since we value our own kin greatly If we don't band together and stick together in one city, then we are back where we started. Technically just having a loose coalition wouldn't really benefit the nation as a whole, as we all have our agenda's, and unlike IRL city-states we don't have the lore backing nor population to support it.)
  20. *Keeps his head low in reverence* T'orik...may ye' find a peace in de' afterlife.
  21. I s'pose de' clans can organize a council tew speak bout d'ere opinons. But nuttin' ever gets done in Clan Council meetin's anyw'o. It cuuld be a recommendation meeting to de' 'igher councils. N' de priorities of de' kingdom n' de race shuuld come 'fore loyalty of a clan. As I've said, yer a Dwarf of the Dwarven Race first, then a Dwarf of the Braveaxes. So support yer Dwarven Kingdom 'fore supportin' yer clan. Yer clan still be of utmost importance t'ough, dey are yer kinsmen. "owver, if de' kingdom isn't supported, den yer clan will be open to invaders as dey mallock t'rough yer city turnin' it tew rubble.
  22. Lad, we ain't Northernors, det sounds like a Nort'enor system.... (Reminds me of Skyrim xD) As Dwarves we stick to 'un place, our 'omes. We shuuld rarely expand aside from 'olding outposts. As beasts of traditions, we shuuld reside in our traditional city, Karik. All expansions shuuld be turned into outposts, radder den fully-fledged independent towns. We are forging a nation, not a confederacy. Confederacy's be weak, un-dwarvenlike, and powerless. Essentially we've got 'un right now, a coalition of cities and nations. But we need to unify, all come to 'un place, and wurk on det un place and wurk on insuring our culture and race thrive. And no one said det de clans wuuld be abolished. As fer de' Clans, de clans will never be abolished. "owever, de Clans 'ave become focused on insuring demselves, and because o' dis we had problems like nearly every Irongut leavin' Karik over Hiebes quarrels wit' T'orik. De' Dwarves shuuldn't 'ave dun det. Dere nation comes first, d'ere home n' 'd'ere race, n' kin shuuld come 'fore all. Clans act as family groups, not seperate factions n' kingdoms (I do wanna note though that we cannot perform any kind of reform without having all the dwarves back in Karik. Remember, most of Karik is Dwarf-only. We can't go around hiring elves and humans to help work on reforms like other nations can. We NEED to unify, we need to be concentrated in one area, as otherwise our numbers are too thin and we are too spread out to sustain our nation With our current population I can't see us using all these other towns and nations while reforming Karik as a whole. As Dwarves, Karik should come first, its our home and where all of our culture lies. Our forefathers perished there and we should honor them for it. Splitting everyone up into a coalition or Confederacy will give us too little manpower to actual instate reforms and fix up Karik. We need everyone back, at least for now.)
  23. And 'dese problems must be remedied. Dis split is starving bot' sides of d'ere true power, n' togedder we can forge a Dwarven Republic strong enough to topple any foe and insure det our culture, our tradition, n' our race will thrive in dis new world of Asulon. United we stand, divided we fall.
  24. I agree. Clans do make a dwarf strong. But, what is a dwarf without his kingdom? His nation? The priority of a dwarf should be his kingdom. We only have each udder, as we cannot expect the aid of other races, while some clans aid udder nations... Clans are beneficial, but de' kingdom and race o' dwarves come 'fore de right o' de clans. I do not like d'ese new settlements, as we are a race of tradition and seclusion, not a race of open-ness and expansion. We fight fer each udder.... We fight fer dwarves. Fer kinsmen.
  25. *A scribbled down bulletin posted on the Great Doors of Karik* Dwarves! Heed the call of the kingdom! It is time for reform! For now is the time to rise up, pick in hand, sword in hand, hoe in hand, and as a kingdom, to rise up against the injustice and failures of our current political system. The old dwarves are focused solely on personal gain, and the new dwarves, discouraged by the lack of activity in our kingdom and our lack of nationalistic spirit, flee to human kingdoms. Human Kingdoms! Bleedin' ridiculous! It is time for change! It is time for the people to be fed, the people to establish projects, the people to rule their kingdom! We are Dwarves, damnit! We are beasts of tradition! Rather then spread out across the world, we must reside in our true Kingdom, and unify! Rather then settle a new kingdom, or town when we please, we must improve our own kingdom, before leaving. This is what I propose. A new Kingdom. A reformed Kingdom which benefits all. *The following are in bullet points* - A Grand King of the Dwarves - Kings/Regents to back him up (Organize and help set up Perms with him, we need more people with ability to give people the ability to give perms) - Council of Barons: Elected by the Kings - Council of Commons: Elected by the Capable Citizens of Karik (Must be upstanding, have money, and have property) - Associations: Organize companies and guilds which solely benefit the Kingdom. No corruption, the leader of the associations only oversee and the Kingdoms set the goals of the association under the Councils + Kings - The Dwarves will be supplied by the associations and kingdom. Given food, tools, and possibly lodging, in return the Kingdom is received a quota of materials - Weaken Clan Halls. We are Dwarves of Karik, not Dwarves of the Ironguts, Dwarves of the Blackaxes, or Dwarves of the Legion. We are Dwarves of the Kingdom, Dwarves of Dwarves! Clan's do not possess beds or chests but rather gathering halls instead of living quarters. - Focus on Concentrating Dwarves into Karik: We are of tradition and we are of Karik. Do not spread into other kingdoms and towns but focus on our own kingdom, our one race. (Remember, we are a race of solitude and secrecy. We only have each other as allies to reform our kingdom. Lore-wise we can't have humans and elves to reform the city) - Write a Constitution to solidify our new kingdom and establish firm boundaries of our administration. We are Dwarves of Uruguan! Heed the call of reform, and assume a new government! *In a thick, detailed, intricate signature in reads* High Lord Balthar Blackaxe
