  3. For those concerned, staff will be making a decision regarding the monks by the end of the day. We apologize for the miscommunications that occurred, but promise that ends today.

In reality the monks wouldn't even be there causing an issue in the first place though Space which is less an issue to do with RP and more an issue to do with a player "breaking character". Unfortunately breaking character doesn't seem to be as widely looked down upon for what is essentially an RP server than it should do on LOTC. (Personally I would rank breaking character as being as bad as meta/powergaming as essentially you're doing something your character wouldn't actually do legitimately because, you, the player benefit from whatever you're doing which in roleplaying games like DND is a terrible terrible thing to do as a player and likely gets you thrown out of the game for it).

The mindset of the monks is that no matter who it is, or what they've done they'll always help them, in an almost omniscient Godlike creature that happens to be everywhere and anywhere at any point of time to save someone from imminent death. No one knows how they do it or even WHY they do it, they are just THERE doing it.

How do you even begin to fill a role like that with players who have their own drive and personal agenda's attached through OOC? You can't really, but if people must insist on filling this kind of role then there should be some sort of effort made to limit what is going on really so that these players don't upset the mythos the monks are supposed to provide.

I mean, I wouldn't even go as far as saying these player monks are even the actual monks that revive or have the proper powers of the monks in the first place. Because that would well and truly be completely broken, that would be like a super Aegis Ascended with powers of teleporting anywhere and everywhere, mixed with super necromancy that can apparently bring people back to life permanently without any sort of issue. I know the player monks of the past did NOT have this kind of power (even though quite a few wanted to have these types of powers) I know this because I helped regulate them originally lore wise/power wise but the biggest point that came up again and again when I was a staff member was the fact that the monk players themselves often "broke character" and interfered with events the monk faction itself would otherwise not do in the first place.

I am just offering a solution to limit the ability of player monks to break character and otherwise mess with the mythos of the monks more than they already have whilst still allowing them the ability to actually use those powers within a confined area that would make sense. As everyone always wakes up at the temple when they die (well unless you were undead but that's a different story). So it would make sense that maybe there's some sort of innate ability within the Temple that allows the monks to do what they do.

I am just coming from an unbiased side of this whole debate as an outsider looking in. This is personally what I would do to solve the issue at hand.

Also if you could do something about breaking character as well whilst you're at it that would be swell... way too many people doing that now days it seems :p

Well you could use that explanation as a means of saying why they can't use it outside of the temple as a sort of solution so that monks can still do their RP but somewhat hindering their abilities outside of the temple as to limit the amount of exposure they could cause to on going events such as this war that is going on etc in a way that could be deemed "biased".

The lore of the actual monks was that they were the spawn point for everyone else and were key to the entire spawn mechanic. The lore of the monk players however was just that they were a convenient way for staff members to effectively hand off new players onto these players, their actual "powers" should really have just remained something innately to the Cloud Temple. Because it started to cause the monks to take sides whether they liked it or not in conflicts which was the one thing the monks shouldn't have ever done in their lore. Example: The Orcs in Asulon.

A solution could be that the monks could only retain any sort of healing power within cloud temple. Outside of this they are just another Tom **** or Harry. Meaning they can't use their powers to sway the course of events outside of the temple groups.

  6. In light of the recent issues I've had with logging into Minecraft, I have tried to contact Mojang Customer Support, and have still yet to hear from them. Because of this, I am unable to log into the server. It has been one week since my last recorded activity. Mojang email and password recovery states my account has been migrated, and I tried all of my emails to see if I would get feedback. I will continue to wait to the end of the month for a response. If unsuccessful, this will be the end of the pigman and quite possibly the end of my journey with Minecraft. Mojang states that they could recover and reset my account given I provide them with a transaction ID, but the bank only holds statements four years back. I hope I get these issues resolved.

The thing is from what I've seen it hasn't really. If anything the current dread knight players want to get away without having the downsides that come from playing a monstrous suit of magically bound armour. If anything this is a control mechanism to bring it back in line.

Or are you going to tell me that I am wrong and that you know how the lore team works better than me as well?

Apart from when lago did so with the golem lore? Or how about the high elves. Or the kha or the druids or any guild or group that was created by a player? Being a lore master for three years taught me that I as the creator have every right to do what I am doing right now space.

  16. It's easy to make describe magic in a cold and clinical way when RPing it. It takes a true magic user to actually make magic sound like magic. Otherwise it's just science. Which completely misses the point.

Magic is magic, there is no way to compare it to science, people that try to forget the point of what magic is. There is no wonder here, only boring, clinical explanations for why things happen.
