  3. Geology The study of rocks and minerals. These are based on real life reactions, but not exact copies. Also, some things might not even exist IRL, and I only thought it could be fun to exist. This is not even near complition yet, but I like it a lot to have not only me, but other people helping on lore, and so if anyone wishes to write about one of the minerals/rocks that exist, go ahead. You can even make up some, as I will, but leaving that for after the end of the MC ones. The other aspects is about their use in not normal situations, like how they react with the person, and how they react with other minerals and plants. Normal stone Normal stone is easily breakable, even someone with only a wooden pickaxe can break it, the result being cobble. It is grey and makes up most of the underground. Uses Easy - The stone dust when mix with water creates a kind of cement, which can be used to glew materials together. Only by wetting the cobble of the stone and compressing it together, would be enough to create something stronger than the stone itself. This is a very easy process to do, and even an amature builder can make a wall of cobble due to the characteristics of stone. Moderate - Heating up the cobble at high temperatures will make it crack and turn fully into dust. by mixing water with the dust, one can almost create exact duplicate of the stone they first mined, and give it shape quite easily. The furnace used has to hold the heat of the fire enough to crack the cobble. This is fairly normal furnace. Using stone this way is like using only cement in building, so for some, it isn't so good, and sometimes looks bad. Hard - After heating the cobble into stone dust, one can make it a little stronger. By mixing it with just a little water and shaping it with a brick mold, if heated to the right temperature, the bricks become stronger than the normal stone. If the temperature is too much it will crack, if too little it will be as strong as the stone. With it that way, one can use the stone dust with water as cement and can give quite the forms for the bricks. When removing the bricks, the cement would break first, leaving the bricks still intact. Other aspects - The stone dust is not very harmful. Someone breading it will cough and spit it out, and if it gets on a wound, the blood will absorve the dust and not let it flow through the body. Because of this, the dusk could be used to stop blood from leaving a wound, but infections are something that is observed if used, not because of the stone, but because illnesses exist between the dust. Mixed with the stone in great depths, are other minerals and ores. Sandstone Sandstone is the result of compressed sand. It is yellow and quite easily breakable even more so than stone. Sand exists in great quantity, expecially in deserts, and shores. Uses: Easy - Compacting sand into sandstone is quite easy, as not a lot of force is required. Unlike stone, water is not needed, but you only get small bricks by compressing it. In a mold, normally made of cobble or wood, is placed the sand, and then by using a weight, normally made of cobble or wood, force is applied downwards into it, compacting it. to glue them together, stone dust cement or just weight is used. If left outside, over the years it will start being eroded by the wind, and will turn once more into sand. Moderate - Small bricks can be easily made by an amature, yet bigger bricks can be made. This is made by using the smaller bricks placing them on a larger mold. The weight used this time for compressing must be a lot bigger, and so a lot harder to move. If the weight is too much the mold might crack, and the mold must be good enough to hold the weight. If the weight is not enough, the small bricks will not glue together. Using sand one can also heat it up immensely and create glass, if heated too much, the glass will not take a form of anything and by heating it too little, an ugly mix of sand and glass will be made. Hard - The sandstone is very breakable, but this gives chance to great masons to carve on the bricks. If they do not have enough skill, they will break the brick and make it useless. More skill is also required to make other things from glass. Normally using a big chunk of glass, and melting just a part of it, one can create different things, be it panes or bottles. Other aspects - Intake of sandstone would not be very harmful, and contact of it with a wound would not cause much trouble and not do much, as it does not absorve the blood, and would not even stop the bleeding. The presence of an infection could also exist by using it that way. Sand is a good means as to mix gunpowder with, as it mixes well with it, and then can be compressed onto sticks of TNT. Clay Clay can be found on rivers, lakes and even on the shores of seas. It is rarer, but still easy to find if one knows where. Uses: Easy - Clay can hold it shape after the water is removed, and so, by applying just a small amount of water anyone can glue together small shovel full of clay into bigger pieces. using wooden supports, even walls can be made from clay, and it is quite good at isolation, yet very ugly to look at. Moderate - By heating up clay, it hardens quite a lot. For the making of decoration, a person only has to make the shape using the clay, then heat it up. Normally used for making pots, as clay is quite easy to mold while still unheated. Knowing how hot the oven must be still requires a little bit of knowledge. Hard - Making clay hard requires a little bit of skill, yet making it into something that holds fortifications and buildings is another thing. Clay would be shaped into bricks by molds, and heated up. Unlike the normal decoration methods, for building purposes the amount of water the clay has and the amount of heat and duration in the furnace. Afterwards, the bricks only need gluing together by use of clay or stone cement. The best of ceramic workers, can create incredible pieces of pottery and china. Other aspects - Clay is in fact harmful if placed over a wound as the particles are quite small and enter part of the bloodstream before stopping, causing immense pain, but normally not enough to kill someone. If eaten, nothing more than vomit should occur. Gravel Gravel is composed of many small difference rocks. It is found in many places even underground. Uses: Easy - Gravel does not have many uses. It is normally used for paving roads, and for filling the inside of walls, as it will make passing through it very hard, since the enemy will have to remove all the gravel to pass through. Anyone can use a shovel to move around gravel. Moderate - Amongst the many bits of Gravel, sometimes flint is found. Finding the flint can be done by luck or by actually looking for it. Other aspects - Being hit by gravel might make a small cut or two, as part of it are particles which can be quite sharp. Dirt Normal everyday dirt, also called soil, exists at the surface and one can easily dig it, but as it compresses underground it will start getting harder. Dirt is made of various types of minerals in small particles, resulting from erosion from the wind, rain and the rotes of the trees, but it is also made from dead animals, plants, insects and from the excrements of the animals. Uses: Easy - Dirt can be compressed and that way it will stick together, water also helps glew it together. In building purposes, dirt is only used to fill holes and raise small hills, as even if it can be used with wooden supports for walls, they are easily destroyed by rain. Dirt primary use is for cultivation, as for most plants grow on soil and water mixes quite well with it. Preparing the dirt for planting is fairly easy as it is made of loose particles, even an amature can pass a hoe through the soil, but of course he will take more time than a farmer. Moderate - The growing of crops is quite well known knowledge throughout the realm, growing grass on the other hand, becomes harder. Normally people let the grass spread by itself, as they have no knowledge on how to create it. Only those knowledgeable of plants like biologists, druids and perhaps some farmers, know how to plant the grass in location where there was none before. Only on grass do other plants grow, some easy, like daisies and roses, some harder like ferns. Hard - Apart from grass, there is something else that grows on the surface of dirt, and that is Mycelium. Only the very experienced biologists and perhaps druids know how to make it grow in a location where there was none before. It spreads, yet the fungus that creates said surface dies quite quickly, and can not be taken even short distance. Only a few know how. Other aspects - Dirt is quite dangerous if placed in contact with an open wound, it will cause an infection on account of all the filth mixed in it. Even if made out of numerous types of minerals, searching for individual minerals in it is quite useless, as the particles would be too small to gather them. Coal Coal is a black mineral, highly flammable. It is quite brittle and easily breakable, giving it many uses. It exists in great quantity in the underground, being the most abundant ore mixed with the stone underground. It exists in all depths and can sometimes even be seen from the surface. Uses: Easy - Coal can have various uses but the most simple one is using it as a tool for writing. Being the Coal brittle it easy breaks and leaves a black trail when it is passed through some paper. The other most common use of coal is for heat. Coal while being highly flammable, also lasts a long time before it's gone, and as such it is very used in all types of uses that involve a flame. Moderate - With the current furnaces, a skilled blacksmith can bring the coal to great temperatures. The amount of air has to be controlled and the furnace has to be made large enough for it to happen. Other aspects - Coal dust is highly toxic, and long exposure to it will damage the lungs of the one breathing it. The dust can be used in many other ways, be it in alchemy, potion making, poisons, traps and in drawings. [Log] Added Clay Added Gravel Added Dirt Added Coal
  4. Snow/ice evocation already exist, which goes outside the main 4 elements, so adding new ones is fine. What this lore says is how it works.
  5. There are a lot of alchemists IG. I can name a few: Malineer played by Tentoa, Rethlor played by Rethlor, Kardel played by Ziko99, and since no teacher app or anything like that is needed, even apprentices can teach their knowledge to other people, so it should be easy to find. Also, there are alchemists, and there are biologists, druids, potion makers, etc. and all those are based on the same principals, even if later they follow diferent routes
  6. I think this lore needs updating, expecialy on the students, Meta having at least two more students than before, in sword and unarmed combat arts. And soon... we will see who truly is a master, Meta, or Rosso. Prepare...
  7. [OOC]: 1. MC Name: Jistuma 2. Why do you want to join?: RP reasons, the fact that you guys captured my character, but didn't misstreat him that badly, and the fact that the perfectionist treated a him a lot better than the other around him (in his mind at least), and the fact that sometimes I need a break from my main character, he is too good of a person :P 3. Do you have a VA? If not, are you willing to write one?: Don't have, am whilling to make it when the starts going in that direction, that I feel should start soon. 4. Link to VA: - 5. To break any server rules will result in a kick from the guild, is this understood?: Yes of course [RP]: (You can take this as an IC interview) 1. RP Name: Guilhard 2. Quick Biography: I... I was born in a ditch... My family was poor, very poor, I remember once living under a bridge to get away from the rain. We tried not to beg, but seemed that was all we could do. I could survive, yet I feel it was because my parents starved to give me the little food they had. They died before their time. I didn't take long before I headed to Arethor, and someone was there offering the job. The job where I meet you three. The one you called lucky, didn't touch me and treated me right, the one he punch me twice, gave me food, and you (james) you gave me work, and are grtefull for it. I want to help you more. 3. Past Experience: I have no experience.
  8. Fire is a way we see heat, and particules in combustion. It it not physical in a way that, it is a sort of energy giving signs of existing. But yes, it is kind of physical, it is the location where the combustion takes place. By physical I mean you can grab it, you can't analize it in detail like you can solid matter and air. Electricity goes a little more than that. It is still physical, it exists and the reasons why are known, but it's like light, you can only see the effects, but not the physical happenings.
  9. Electricity is energy, not a force. But fire ain't physical either.
  10. Lightning, on a scientific scale, has nothing to do with air... It has nothing to do with fire either, but some things are similar. Lightning is electric energy passing through air, but no knowledge of air should be required to make it, yet nothing to do with fire either, as fire is energy releaced by the transformation of one substance into another, creating heat and light, and lightning is electric energy passing through air and heating it up, creating heat and light. Now, for creating air evocation, I would think the mage would have to have knowledge of how the wind works, what exists in the air, and that air is something (something not many people would know), then try to recreate in their mind the effects they want made and bring it from the void. For fire, a mage has to understand that it's hot, that it produces smoke, that it needs air to burn, and that something needs to be burning. Then he must create all these in his mind and bring it from the void. For Lightning, a mage would have to figure out that lightning travels from one point to another, that it's almost instantaneaous, that it produces light, sound, and heat, and that it is extremely great energy source. Then he must create all these in his mind and bring it from the void.
  11. Just some questions Are the start and end point of the lighning outside the body of the caster? Is the end point posible of being movable, or has to be static? Could the lightning trajectory be changed if, for example, a sword is near it's trajectory (iron is better conducter than air)? Does the caster have control over the trajectory?
  12. Pretty good lore on how it is. But I don't understand part of it, is mage gold natural? I ask this because IC I have been looking for some, and I have been having talks through tells in OOC asking how it is created and who has it to figure out if what I get is actually true. The responces I got was that magegold is normal gold hit by conjured lightning, which would make it extremelly rare, and only existing to those with contact to undead or shaman magic. I believe a small chat with one of the magic team member would clear the confusion. Good luck with the lore.
  13. *At least a year has passed since any of the brothers have seen Jistuma. Not a soul of the brothers now what has happened, know what became of Jistuma. If he has betrayed the brotherhood, if he has fleed, if he was killed, nothing is knowned." ((Jistuma has died. It was fun being a part of the brotherhood.))
  14. I think Alras would be a bad place to start. Too many player go through there. I think it would be alot funnier Rp if the disease started in a village, small number of player qould start with it. If the Rp was fun, then the villagers would seek help from another village... and spread the illness. The kingdons would start to notice. First they would try and contain it, and keep it a secret, but that is never possible. Then roads would be blocked, trying to stop sick people from moving into their nation. The population would start to notice and ask questions, when they found out a riot could start. A cure could start to try and be found by healers, mages and achemists ordered by their rulers. Then a lot of political rp could be done; a cure was found, the ruler has now the possibility to cure the illness, he can gain power by giving it to other nations, or gain money by selling it to the other nations, or keep ot from another nation as they are at war. To his people, he could give it, sell it, or keep it only to the worthy. Spys would be sent to steal the potion, or just check how the nation would be doing, Villains would use it to aid them, create fear, say it was their fault when it was not. Villagers would start fearring anyone coufing. There could be a clear distintion between the characters that are really good people and help the needed, and the ones that fear for their life and kick the sick away. I only see good rp situations about this event, and this type of progression just came into my head, the real thing is always much better than one can imagine. If the initial ilness wasen't fun, then the sickness would just pass away as all do. Either way, I hope this event happens.
  15. ((Didn't know I needed accepts, I only read the posts untill page 6... This topic has 24 pages and most posts don't matter... Well, hope I get them))
  16. Name ((MC)): Jistuma Name ((IG)): Jistuma Real Life Age: 20 (sub)Race: Human Combat experience: Almost none, other than one or two fights IG. Normally the way I rp, I evade combat or just rp it. Give me a short summary of your character so far. The longer the better (but 2 paragraphs minimum) (as my actual lore and history until Asulon is in my VA and takes 5 paragraphs, I will mostly talk about what my character is like, and what he has been doing since the arrival at Asulon.) Jistuma had made his choice. He would forget what happened in his childhood times. Those memories would only make him hate himself and he had change from that time. Well, not much. He got smarter and gain experience, but he still can't wear heavy armor or wield heavy weapons as he is not that strong in muscle. He still has the most absurd weakness one could imagine, so absurd no one has even came around to tell him. The only change that seems to exist is the fact that he no longer fears hurting anyone in his path if he gets something he wants out of it. Mostly just intrigued about the ways of the bodies, he uses a book that came into his possession and proceeds to recreate the terrible tortures and rituals in there even not knowing what they do. But being able to torture someone out of thin air is quite difficult, people escaped his arms. He needed a place to do his evil deeds with no chance of being interrupted. But as many man do, he has a place to go to relax, a town far away, filled with friends, he did not had to worry about killing, trapping, being discovered, training, he just had to cut down trees and enjoy a hot bath. There is where he meet a dwarf that would be his help to his evils. Almost killed by another, Jistuma saved his live as he did not want his peaceful retreat to be a place with murder and death. The dwarf owed Jistuma his life, and so he became a slave. Jistuma having no idea what a slave was for let him do whatever he liked, and so dwarf started trusting him, started viewing him as his actual master. So he offered him a place he owned for whatever he wanted. He tortured, quite a lot there, learnt the use of some of the things written in the book. He seemed to not care for the use of the name master, but he liked being looked at with some respect, that had never happened before. He got two got two students to learn from him, they trust him completely. But other things happen as well... He went to the elven island one day, as to try and meet with a friend. Somehow that visit ended with him impregnating someone. He never had a son, he never dreamed of having one, and now was attached to one. He never change who he was, he just now had someone to protect if needed. The same continued to exist, tricking someone into believing his a good man, then striking at the right time. Not easily offended, but some conversation topics make him quite angry, but only enough to hit a man in the face, he would never kill because of a dispute over an argument. And he still continues to want to learn, want to investigate what intrigues him. On a search for another one to practice, he followed an armored man. Discovering he knew the man as the cook who once didn't eat him, when he took out his helm, he abandoned the idea of practice. Instead the cook invited him into an association. Would you consider being a spy?: No problem with it, there are not alot of characters that know the face of Jistuma, and those that know are his trusted friends. Past military experience: None Past criminal experience: Well he has tortured people, lied quite a lot, played with the gate at Galahard then got arrested and broken out, let innocents get tortured in front of him, let friends be tortured in front of him, and enslaved two people (not really normal slaves) Current Occupation (Miner, Smithing etc): Lumberjack, 'worker' at an 'inn'. Useful, Non-military Skills: I do not know if torture would be included in military skills. What have you heard of us IC? Never heard of you. John (cometking123) talked about joining an organization that did assassinations, and that they needed people. What have you heard of us OOC? Assassination group, evil group, don't actually know much about what you guys do. What skill level do you currently hold on the following? Note, to rank past Neopyhte a skill requirement of 40 is required in one of these fields. Swords: 0 Axemastery: 100 (I might be lowering this, it makes no sense that my character is a very good fighter) Archery: 0 Wrestling: 0 Preferred weapon: Axe, string, sleeping powders Screening Questions ACCEPTED villain app link (Required): http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/38630-accepted-jistumas-villain-application/page__p__267812__hl__jistuma__fromsearch__1#entry267812 I can't do assassinations if I don't use them to raise my knowledge of human body, or technique. Are you wanted in any countries?: No, the ones that know my character's name only know him as a trader, worker, lumberjack. Why do you want to join?: Rp reason is that John said he would get me in a group that needed my skills. Also, he realises that being in that kind of group would make him learn things a lot faster. Define powergaming thoroughly: Powergaming in LOTC has an initial meaning of not making your character 'invincible', no super humans, no super spells, no invincibility. Some might have them, but they must be accepted and have their weaknesses. Still, these are quite a few. In rp, powergaming would be to guaranty your ‘victory’ by doing very improvable things, or not letting the other person react or defend himself. Will you ever mention or hint the name or existence of this organization IC? No... maybe to his closest friends that he is in a guild, but not specify persons or names. "Legal" stuff Will you tell anyone about your association with us ever (including OOC) or reveal any amount of information about who we are or what we do? And yes this is entirely necessary. I don't understand this question very well. Of course people will know I'm a part of this guild, they only have to read the accepted post. And I will never lie OOC, if someone asks me 'will you kill X?' the best I can do is 'I won't answer that question'. But, apart from not lying I will not speak of the of the guild. Do you realize that breaking any server rules may result in banishment at our discretion? Yes Do you realize that revealing any information about us either IC or OOC will result in banishment and multiple contracts for your head? This may extend to a permadeath. Yes Will you take multiple screenshots of all jobs related to the Dark Brotherhood? Of course, I understand the need for them, and so I will take the screenshots.
