  1. ((That's not the OOC agreement, the agreement is that you can't have another character that fights actively against them. Meaning the player can't have two characters, one fighting against the other, simply because that can't really happen. Then comes the problem on what side to choose for events of large scale, and one side might get slighlty pissed you chose the other, and then of course there is the problem of the t0 plugin, which, if you don't know, stop skeletons from attacking your MC figure, and spells don't affect you. Then of course you will get access to chests and doors, that your other character would not have access to. The Metagaming thing is actually far less important now that I think of it... Either way, what you are talking about is of characters that are part of the opposing force trying to join the cult, and we allow that, we don't stop them from joining because of that. We try to root them out through IC actions, that is why the blessing is viewed in such great reguards, it stops spies. Yet, it's not mandatory, meaning if a character that join us is in fact spying, he would be creating great rp, and get the perks of the cult. I think you missunderstood the rule, thought we are discussing how to deal with it, because it does appear very strong. We're pretty much with the problem of the antag0 plugin, which someone with it fighting against us just has to run through the skeletons and kill the Harbingers without them being able to do a thing about it. If he betrayed the cult to do it, exelent, and there would be no problem. If he's using a different character to do it... it's severe powergaming and metagaming. Either way, we're taking this into account and figuring out what to do. Oh, about your post, I asked for all OOC post to be removed... seems yours was, but the response to yours wasn't... In a few days or hours or something I will ask for these responces to be removed as well, please next time use forum pm's and discuss these things with the leaders.   3. What about transmutation and enchanting? It doesn't fall to the 3rd one.
  4. All effects are mostly phycological, and can be just believed without being true. Example is real life ones, sometimes it just works without there being an explanation. Enchanting can remove impurities from gems as far as I know, and since it respects the mechanical standard, you're good to go. Just remember, is it's true or not, up for the players. It might work on some, and on others wouldn't. If a character wouldn't believe it, it probably wouldn't work, the mind is just that powerful. [Edit] I sugest you place this lore on roleplay section and remove the 'true' validity of it. Creating a belief instead of a true magic is far more interesting.
  5. Oh he did say the 30 mins ss rule. Then I don't agree. I would agree with the raise of 30 min rule in death with the one killing and the one dying coming to a concensous. This means no "No I want to return in 30 mins no matter what you say". I mean something of the kind of "So we killed you because you were trying to kill others, I think you should not come back for 2 days.", and of course the "We killed you because we're dicks and don't like you IC, so don't return in a week" is entire different. On the other hand that is pretty hard to diferenciate and control... I think it would be like... for reasons... Kill for killing, in anger, in the spur of the moment, in self defense, etc, it would be the 30 min rule. Killing for other reasons, like removing defenses in town, or removing the person from their house for a while so that other things could be done, and killing because the character is a criminal, then it would be more than 30 mins, and depending on what the reason is, up to a week or so. Of course the villains would not really have much reasons to kill for more than a few hours, unless to create problems in the town by targeting high ranked officers, which would be assassinations. Rp reasons for it? Inate fear of the location after dying in it.

  8. Anything that changes someone's character permanently isn't allowed without concent as far as I know. sorry if this is a little offtopic. I normally stop playing a character for a while if the death is meaningful.

  10. No, but the 2 archtypes thing still applies (mostly because of lore), and having too many magics would mean that most likely, your character wouldn't be very good with most of them.
  11. Following the rules of the pvp default and magic being the same power as a warrior... Not that I know of... Probably up to the GM and the rp made, but most likely not since from what I remember there are no alterationists that would ever enchant a weapon, but who knows. Non canon means the lore has not been made official to the server, and it's just magic that obeys the mechanical standard. Could you explain "follow the flow"?
  12. I believe the Errata should answer these questions, sorry for the problems. For the first question Alteration has no pre-requisits for being able to be learnt, and as such it is like the rest of the arcane magic (except runesmithing) For the second question that would be a good progression with magic. Starting with less control and improving it with time and training.

You can indeed create a character that already knows magic, so long as the magic they learn does not have any IC or OOC restrictions preventing them from doing so. This means that of all the magics, you can create a character that knows a new magic that the player created, or Arcana magic (with runesmithing exception), and priest healing. Q: Can my character be born able to use magic? A: No. Every character is able to learn magic, but no character can be born already knowing how to use it. If you wish to create a magic that is inborn, you will need to get it accepted beforehand. Q: Does my character have to learn how to use magic? A: Yes, your character can not acquire the knowledge and skill to perform magic on the spot, that is considered metagaming and powergaming. Your character will have to slowly learn from a teacher, or on his own. No, but you still have to follow the rules of no metagaming and powergaming. If the magic that your character would have requires knowledge that he would not have, that would be considered metagaming. And learning how to cast magic at the moment that the character is in danger would be considered powergaming. It is advised your character slowly learn from a teacher, or on his own with time, to prevent breaking the rules. Q: Can I be a powerful mage and a powerful warrior at the same time? A: No, magic has a corrupting effect on the mage. While you may use a sword and armor to signify the use of magic in PVP, in roleplay your character gets physically weaker as he learns more magic. No, although you can still be a mage and warrior at the same time, so long as you aren't extremely proficient at both. If the magic they create don't break cannon lore, nor are extremely similar to other magic, nor is magic made to go around IC restrictions that stop the requirements to get another magic, they do not need lore. Of course it can't also be OP or create/do seemingly impossible things (like time travel)

  16. To all those saying this goes against the magic changes please tell me which answers do so, and I will explain them. As for the fact that you have to be taught, it's how it is, the magic change was to allow everyone to easily learn magic, not turn themselves into mages in a second, that is considered powergaming and metagaming. The character creation I asked Geo and he did confirm that no player can create characters that already know magic. As for how you get the character thought, that's up for the player, you have many ways to have your character learn.

  22. Would love for something like this to happen... Even if in rp it would make no sense considering there would be nations at war with each other joining in... And the fact that there is no way to build siege equipment... and that we should have had already destroyed that camp... Either way, even with all those things, BRING IT ON! I would welcome it and will love if Viper allows it.
