A basket arrives in Solace, attached to it is the letter that Queen Kyral had sent. On the back of the letter is scribbled a simple phrase, "Your god didn't help these three. This is the fate of those that violate Elandriel."
-
May you clarify that this is by Player (MCName) or Character? For example, may a player on one character attack a settlement, changename and skin, and then do it again the next day on another character?

Sythra points to 'Ash' as she leaves. That is what you call a 'Half Human' an elf that has coupled with one of humanity and has been tainted by their lies and their corruption. Let it be known that all elves that wish to return to Malinor will be welcome to do so and encouraged. They will be received as lost loved ones and family. However, those that wish to stay with their human masters will be shunned and treated the same as that 'half human'. Now is not a time for our people to be divided, we must unite against the threats that this world imposes upon us. Only united will our culture grow and thrive in this unrelenting and cruel world that surrounds us. In times past, diplomacy was our solution. There were many instances that mistakes and misjudgements were made by us. Never before did Oren take such vile measures against us. Instead they opened channels of talk and peaceful resolutions. This is no longer the case. The empire has shown that it does not wish diplomacy, only wanton violence and submission. Like the orcs and their slavers, humanity too wishes to enslave our people. But it is even worse then that. Instead of a few elves here or there for simple profits, they wish to subjugate all of our kind. This is why the half humans exist. They are the product of humanity's tampering with poor elves that fall into their slimy grasp. I ask everyone this, do you wish to remain free? Do you wish for your culture to survive and flourish without humanity's corruption? What of your children? We have long been cursed with very few to continue our lineage, each life being precious and each child being the finest treasure any elven parent could obtain. Do you wish to see Humanity take that away? I have long urged the High Council to be vigilant in their dealings with the humans. I knew even as your High Princess that humanity could be a danger in some form. Unfortunately we misgauged the threat they actually pose. Never did I think in their emperor's lifetime would I see such violence and depravity. It is not the fault of the High Council for these raids and destructive attacks on our sovereign territories. They were misled by the honorless humans spreading lies from the simple serf to the emperor himself. Not even an elven week ago was it that it was requested that an embassy be started again in their capital of Arethor. They used such a request as a ruse to mount a surprise attack on Normandor. As a response left by another said, "time is on our side." We must be prepared to weather this storm brought on by humanity. In time they will wither and perish to the passage of time while we remain vigorous. Perhaps the children's children of humanity will have greater wisdom than their fathers. But we must prepare for the consequences that they are not.

It is not a simple group or even a single nation that is a threat to our kind. But it is the whole of Humanity. Humanity is the reason why the lands in the west are in disarray, humanity is the reason behind much of the grief and sorrow you all see today. They crusade across the lands citing verses to a false god. They murder and they plunder all that is not like themselves. They are intolerant, volatile and harbor outright monsters such as the orcs, the White Roses, and the Syndicate. Let it be known that the humans of the Empire will no longer find safety or respite within the borders of the Holy Princedom. They will only find despair and ultimately death. And know that the Mali do not distinguish between serf, gentry, noble, or emperor in these proceedings. I advise all Sentinels to escort all humans not associated with the Holy Princedom to be escorted out. Those that resist be met with unceremonious death in accordance to our laws. These recent acts of brutality will not go unanswered.

Yes, in fact for people we are close or friends with, its preferred that we reference rather than accept.
Friend or not we can still deny. As a good friend of mine IRL found out! :D

By the way. The issue of a central RP area for the elves will be addressed in 3.0. I cannot go into specifics, but this is a concern on the minds of the build team.
-
Laurelin was actually much much larger than Normandor. The area you remember was the northern district. It was added on after Laurelin got larger. Also not all of the Princes and Princesses lived there. Sythra if you remember lived outside Sister City near a beach (which was actually wilds).

Two new members ascend upon the High Council
Aerinyes replied to Bravepaw's topic in Asulon Roleplay Archive
((Oh no, I earned my freedom  )) ((She lives far from the affected areas, they'll be sure to look into it.)) -
Keep in mind everyone that you will not be getting a prebuilt area just for your clan/house, or even the subrace in general. If the dark elves get their own city it will have to be decided after 3.0 is launched and done so through RP. There's been a few misconceptions here and there about that, I hope this clarifies things.

Austin is making a good move here. He probably could have worded it differently, but at the end of the day, he is trying to improve things. Its very easy to explain why a elf lives in Malinor, a Human lives in Oren, and a Dwarf lives in Karik. Its logical to assume the same thing with Orcs in the War Ugz. Now with that said, things do change. However its very unlikely that a server application would allow a whitewash orc. They do (to my knowledge) filter out orc characters that wish to be different (and if they don't they really should consider it). Therefore when a player makes a whitewash, its usually after the whitelist. This is what Austin is trying to figure out. Did these orc characters start in his nation and then become whitewashes? If this is so, why? Its his job as a nation leader to figure out why someone would leave his nation, not someone personally persay, but why people in general would want to leave. If many are leaving for the same reasons, it gives him a base to work with to make changes as needed. What the concern is, people just wishing to play with other races. Perhaps they like the culture better. Maybe they have friends there. My advice is to reroll that particular race. Alot of the time, people roll a character then end up making a new character that is an orc and just chooses arbitrarily to be a whitewash. That is where many of the concerns are. I'm sure Austin would like to know why people are doing this. Why they would wish to play an orc outside orc culture. He also wants them to make sure that they understand the consequences of their actions. IC actions have IC consequences after all. Unfortunately he is only giving the consequences that comes from other orcs, and neglected to say what other races might do. I'll speak for the general leadership of Malinor. Whitewashes are quite simply hated more than regular orcs. They are seen as one of two things. Spies from the War Ugz, or a Psychopath. To the elves, the war is a political endeavor, they do not hate the orcs on a cultural level (even if they say speeches and such that contradict that). They see the whitewashes as exiles from a culture. Psychopaths who resist their own kind and their beliefs. There is only a few reasons they would do this. 1. they are simply crazy which makes them dangerous, 2. they have done something despicable, so vile that the orcs even hate them, such as undead/Iblees worship, and 3. they are fugitives, criminals and traitors to their own kind, we see them as if they would betray their own kind, they have no problem doing so to anyone else. I'm sure the dwarves would have similar feelings. Hiebe can probably comment more on that if he wishes. Humans are probably a little more accepting, but who knows? They are a religious people and may consider them vile monsters too, but that is up to their leaderships. Playing a whitewash means playing a general exile. Going to need to more than likely live in the wilds. That is if the nations are playing the game properly too. Perhaps a movement to get them on the ball too will help the issue. This isn't to harp on or punish the ones playing whitewashes. The lore is there and the lore should be followed. Lore supports there being whitewashes, but it is a hard life, one that the player should consider carefully before engaging into it.

A Dark Elf at the crossroads
Aerinyes replied to the GOAT of the craft's topic in Asulon Roleplay Archive
Sythra looks puzzled at Seth's comment. I fail to see how elves would see our kind as 'evil' especially when it was our Mali'Ame and Mali'Aheral cousins that placed Khel in his position in the Sentinels. In Malinor, the Mali'ker have always been welcome. I am very close with many of the council and many others that are not Mali'ker themselves. I don't believe what you are saying will come to pass. Unless of course you are speaking of Haelun'or but their opinions mean very little if anything here. They are not part of the Princedom. -
A Dark Elf at the crossroads

The reason we sought a peaceful resolution over war with the Mori was because they could meet with us in a civil manner. The orcs have never proven to do so. Even in peaceful talks, they use veiled threats. In Aegis we never had peace with the warborn. They had an agreement with the Wardens which had their own leadership that wasn't subservient to a prince. And even then, the warnation used them as a tool in their little conquests, an abuse that was put to rest by the former Prince Lafthi. But even during these agreements and alliances, orcs still disrespected elven culture and violated Princedom laws and customs when visiting. Peace and friendship were never really there. Fighting our strongest enemy proves our capabilities to the world of Asulon. It shows that Malinor is strong and united. And by showing we fight to protect our loved ones, rather than to conquer shows our compassion and wisdom. Normandor is not a permanent residence. We must be patient as we begin to move settlements ((OOC note, this is NOT in reference to 3.0)). It is a process that I initiated as High Princess, but a task as large as that takes time. For now we have pressing matters. Matters of unity that will spread our prosperity across all if we stay together. And yes.. the application process dates back to even before I was ascended to a Princess in Aegis. This process was placed by High Prince Native and continued until my reign in which I suspended it. I didn't see it as a useful tool during that time, but High Prince Bravepaw decided to use it, as is his choice. -
A Dark Elf at the crossroads
Aerinyes replied to the GOAT of the craft's topic in Asulon Roleplay Archive
Sythra addresses the crowd once again. Our dear Princess Earenniel speaks of a point that has long been unaddressed in such a forum. That of our current homes and their designs. Normandor is by no means a Wood Elven city. It was not constructed with the intent of being an elven city at all. And for many years there has been many who questioned why we dwell in such a city. The reasonings are unfortunate. When we first came to Asulon six decades ago, we settled in the Elandriel Forest. Within days we were beset by predators from all sides. Mori, orcs, and bandits alike poured into the undefended forest to prey upon our people. Taking belongings, loved ones, and lives from our people. The Sorani were formed out of the remnants of the Laurelin Vanguard. However they could do very little to patrol the vast unprotected wilderness. Therefor we moved the bulk of the population to Normandor as it offered protection and sancturary while we regained our former strength. As High Princess I molded our forces for the challenges that were ahead. I kept our true strengths hidden so that it could be built in secret. At the same time I went out of my way to ensure peace with the mainland nations, but at the same time I waited and watched to see their true intentions by having the Princedom remain neutral in their conflicts. When it came to local affairs I sought friendship and peace with our neighbors. Even making peace with the once hated Mori. I secured much of the eastern sea so that if a conflict arose, it would only be from the west. Now that the nations of the mainlands' intentions have become apparent, the Holy Princedom has emerged to influence the world around her. We have true allies and friends. Our enemies are clearly known. Though let it be known that peace was tried with the warborn, many times. Each agreement made was dropped by them whenever a new rex was chosen. If you know how they select their leaders, you will understand that such an event happens frequently. It was determined that peaceful relations is considered a weakness by the warborn. Therefor we have shown our strength instead. Our people are a patient race. But when you have your loved ones stolen, enslaved, and killed, one must take action. Some may say we agitate them by striking into the heart of their lands. In a way this is true, but it also sends a message in a format that they understand. By striking at their homes, it reduces their ability to harm us in ours. Our aim is not to conquer, but to chastise. For the Mali of Malinor are not conquerors. We know that the younger races have much to learn. But we also know that each learns differently. In time the conflict will end and we will be able to withdraw our Sentinels home, an impression made. With that said it is important that we remain united. In order for the Mali'ker to help the rest of Malinor, they must help themselves and reintegrate our culture back into our lives. We must be proud to be Mali'ker and of the Holy Princedom of Malinor. With all the Mali united together, we will be able to establish ourselves in the proper place in this world and may yet even be able to return to the forests. Peace and prosperity for our race is ahead of us, but we have much to do in order to get there. -
A Dark Elf at the crossroads

Sythra nods to the Dark Elf upon the grey horse, her eyes stay upon him for a moment longer before turning to the rest of the crowd that has been gathering. This is the sort of wisdom that is sought after by the council. Those that will unite our people without regard to beliefs or nobility. As the first Mali'ker High Princess to serve upon the high council I will take the first step and take this one up on his offer for a meeting with our kin. She then gives Cobra a look of scorn. Those that hide themselves behind cloaks and shadows are not taken seriously, words that cannot be said without fear and fortitude are empty. Go back to the ones that hold your leash and tell them they will surely perish should they meddle in our affairs further. The time of Malin's Children is now. We fear no one and will strike into the very homes of our enemies. -

Looks to the hooded stranger and levies an almost accusatory tone. These Mali'ker express themselves openly with passion and without hiding their intentions. They should be commended that they can debate their differences in the open and with words rather than weapons. For that is where our true wisdom comes from. -
A Dark Elf at the crossroads

Though mostly unseen in recent times, Sythra Duskwind, the former High Princess and first Dark Elf to serve upon the council steps across the bridge leading from Normandor. It has been merely a year, a moments time in our eternal lives, since a Mali'ker brother or sister has sat upon the council. I was the first, and prince Isirack was the second, but I assure you we will not be the last. Let us not be so hasty to push the High Council into brashful thinking that has plagued the sons of Horen over the last century. All of our Princes and Princesses are chosen so with care and with wisdom. My successor is our High Prince Bravepaw, a successor whom selected for my sacred designation as did my peers upon the council. He is wise and will serve the Mali'ker interests well. The wisdom of the people of the Holy Princedom is second to none. If a new prince is to be chosen, it will be because of their own merits, wisdom, and competence. If Khel has truly displayed these traits, then he will be surely chosen for the ascension to Prince in time. A campaign is not necessary, for his accomplishments and wisdom will speak louder then the voices of such a venture. Fret not, for the Councils of Malinor are not entirely without Mali'ker supervisions and interventions. I can assure you all that nothing will be done to harm our interests. In the mean time we have a duty to our families and legacies to prosper in the Holy Princedom and the world abroad. It is a time for unity among our kin and with our cousins the Mali'aheral and Mali'ame. Only in Malinor are all children of Malin welcomed and encouraged to flourish. This I have seen to during my tenure. The largest threats to us all is that from the Warborn Uruks and the schemes and plots of Humanity. Both are jealous of our prosperity and seek to take what is rightfully ours or destroy that which they cannot have. Never forget that. -
Would this be compatible with a physical currency plugin if one was recoded and implemented? I wonder how possible it would be to code a shop to do bartering? Say you wish to trade 9-12 iron ingots for a diamond.

The removal of the head

((First, I'll be clear that I do not represent the current owners of the Isle. But I do represent the following of the rules. I know in the past (as I have shown in that quote) that you were upset OOCly that the island changed hands. You never went to the owners to my knowledge (as when I was Nation Leader, I was never directly contacted) to see if conditions for you would change. So forgive me for seeing your actions as 'throwing a fit' for the last three weeks. Second, such actions is rebellion and insurgency, which requires a VA with evil #4. I've checked the database and you're not clear on said character to do such. I am not flaming you, I'm doing my job as VAT to inform you of such rules before you get into any infractions.))
-
((What you are feeling OOC is guiding your actions ICly. Which is metagaming. If you have an issue with how things are being done OOCly, then speak to the leadership OOCly. Don't resort to causing chaos and disruption (which requires a VA I might add), just because you didn't get something that was promised to you.))

((I modified my post to place a quote by you.))

((I will warn you once against using OOC feelings IC. Continue and you will have a strike report. And in case you forgot what I am speaking about: ))

I like the idea of the soulstone. It forces people to actually have homes in cities to be able to soulstone there. Will there be checks in place for when someone has access to a region but later loses it? For example, someone purchases a home, sets their soul, but doesn't pay taxes and loses said home. Will the new changes prevent them from using that soulstone point?
-
Alot of Asulon isn't designed with that in mind. All three elven nations for example are just capitals. They don't have any outlaying territories (unless you count Elandriel). But I guess its a boon and a curse. No territory to lose, but no expansion either. Though 3.0 could be designed with that in mind. Maybe 2-3 areas inbetween capitals for nations to squabble over. But that doesn't solve the issue now of course. But my idea does require the least amount of work and the least amount of rules to put into play. The downside is there isn't any meaningful change of hands to actually show on the map who's 'winning'. But who knows? Perhaps the leaders will make it interesting. Players of the month shows that the server has some players that come up with neat ideas and excellent RP. So I have no doubt that some interesting things could come of this. Yes, there might be some orc attacks thwarted by a simple 'no' here or there. But I'm sure once the leaderships can talk things out OOCly that things can happen. Besides what guild leader out there wouldn't agree to an attack? Usually players don't see their characters in leadership positions because they're unreasonable. Of course it is the attackers responsibility to make sure their attack makes sense and is fair. Also I'm thinking from an attackers point of view. What fun could 100+ vs 10 be? Well for many it is fun because they are getting land out of it. Thats not fun at all for the defender. The odds are more likely to be closer when the idea is to have fun with the fight itself, rather then trying to get spoils. In other words, you get more bragging rights when you beat a 20 v 20 rather then a 100 v 20.
-
Where have I ever said I disliked the idea of war? I supported warclaims when they first came out. I don't support the vitriol and drama they have caused however. And I think you misunderstood what I have been saying. Players aren't going to simply say no because under the suggestions I have been making, they wouldn't lose anything for losing the battle. Also you're not giving enough credit to our current nation leaders. Out of the five, which ones would cause issues with what I am trying to suggest?
