  1. Thanks for clarifying this :)
  2. Orym scratches out three-hundred and writes four-hundred. He mutters to himself. "I'll pay the extra hundred myself if I have to.." He then walks off, wondering why the leaders of this guild have no sense.
  3. High Elves can have light blonde hair and wood elves can have dirty-blonde hair.

  9. Orym runs into Khel and is ordered to remove any posters he sees. Orym sighs as he walks through malinor, ripping off any of the posters that he sees in the mali'ame district or the commons area in malinor.
  10. ((If this is in malinor, I don't see how oren would see it :P)) Orym sees one of the posters and rips it off the wall. He runs off to another part of malinor, obviously trying to show the poster to someone.
  11. Well, there is already an extensive guide on mali'aheral in this subforum, but I might add something in about it :)
  12. [Questions] MC Name: Aiden_AJK Skype Name: aiden.cool Why do you want to join? I enjoy villain roleplay, specifically thief, and I want to steal while I have others watching my back. I have also seen this guild provide the server with entertaining roleplay, which is something I strive to do as a villain. How will you provide the guild and the LOTC community with a great RP experience? By roleplaying to the best of my abilities as well planning out my RP actions in OOC so that they are entertaining and interesting. I will usually do the second thing if I have some big roleplay event planned (Ex, a heist) so that I have a bit of an idea of what to say so that the other people involved in the RP have more a more enjoyable experience. What do you think are vital in RP? (I.e Emotes, RP fights over MC fights etc) Definitely putting detail into emotes and not power/metagaming. The first thing, in my opinion, is ‘vital’ because it allows others that RP with me to fully understand what I’m emoting. The second two ruin roleplay, so I definitely believe that they shouldn’t be done. To break the Guild laws, or the Server laws is instant banishment unless in a specific circumstance where you are offered an appeal form by the Guild, do you understand this? Of course. [Character Questions] RP name: Aiden Biography: Copied from my VA: Personality: Aiden is a bit free spirited and is quick to take action, usually without thinking beforehand. However, he can act out another personality while stealing or trying to deceive someone if he needs to. It all depends on what job he’s doing and/or what he needs to do. Motives: Aiden’s thefts are driven by greed and a bit of rage. His father also taught him as a small child that thieving was a reliable way to get wealth. This sort of ‘brainwashed’ him into stealing for money, on top of the fact that he never learned any other type of profession. Aspirations: Aiden’s goal in life is to become a wealthy man. His father told him as a child that this should be Aiden’s ambition, so he stuck with it and continues to strive to complete this goal, despite the fact that it is a challenging ambition. [Open Response. Answer all questions] You notice a rich foreign merchant in the markets browsing wares such as jewelry, weaponry and armor. You notice a stall owner has just walked away from his stall for a few moments, several guards are patrolling the area, the merchant walks towards the stall to browse its wares. To the North is a sewer grate you could escape through, though the guards seem to be patrolling it more than usual. How will you pull of this thievery? Aiden walks into the market with his hood up. He then begins to shout “Guards! Your captain told me to inform you all that he wants you at the front gates! Orcs are attacking the city, there are hordes coming to attack!” All of guards run towards the front gates except for three, one is still at the grate and two continue to patrol. Aiden walks up to the foreign merchant and sees him looking at a diamond necklace. “Did you just buy that?” The merchant looks up to Aiden and nods. Aiden then says, “Well you don’t want that! It’s a fake diamond!” The merchant raises an eyebrow as he says, “What’d ya mean it’s a fake? It looks real tah me!” Aiden frowns, “Let me see it! I can decide if it’s fake or not!” The merchant cautiously holds out his diamond necklace. Aiden grabs the necklace and pretends to inspect the diamond. “Hmm..” The merchant then asks “Well?” Aiden then says “There’s an orc from the attack behind you!” The merchant turns around and Aiden runs for it. The man yells out “Help! Thief! Guards!” Then, the guards that he tricked into leaving earlier return and see Aiden. They begin to chase him, but they are slowed by their heavy armour. Aiden arrives at the grate and shoves the guard, who falls over and struggles to get up. Aiden opens the grate and then goes into it, closing it behind him. He runs through the sewers then leaves the city through the sewage system. The Upright Man has asked of you to steal a scroll from a house that is just outside the city limits of Alras, the house seems to be alive with laughter and drunken men, you look through a window to see the chest is in the room, while 5 drunken men sit around the fire telling war stories, they seem armed but drunk, you see in the corner of your eye a small hole in the roof into the room. The door hinges are old and rusty, it can be easily kicked down. How will you pull of this thievery? Aiden approaches the home and sees the men inside. He sighs and then decides to wait outside. After a few hours, the men dose off and fall asleep, which is when Aiden sneaks onto the roof of the home and then sneaks towards the hole. Aiden then throws a rope down and silently slides down it. He slowly creeps up to the chest and opens it as silently as he can. Inside, he finds a coin purse and the scroll. He grabs both then closes the chest, which makes a slight noise. One of the men stirs, but he doesn’t wake. Aiden makes his way towards the door, but once he is halfway there he knocks over a glass mug full of ale, but it falls to the ground shatters, glass shards flying everywhere. One of the men wakes up and he shouts for the others to wake up. Aiden stuff the items forcefully into his pack and pulls out one of his throwing knives. One of the men groggily stumbles over to Aiden and swings his blade at him clumsily. Aiden sidesteps and throws his knife, which hits the man in the chest. He kicks him to the ground and turns on his heel, running to the door. Instead of reaching the door, he stops, as another one of the men has an axe and is standing in front of it. Aiden draws his dagger and slowly advances, but then he quickly jumps back to avoid the man’s clumsy hack, as he is tired and still slightly drunk. Aiden lunges forward, his dagger glinting in the moonlight, as if it was hungry for blood. Aiden stabs the stab in the arm, and he drops his axe with a shout. Aiden grabs the man’s leg as he shouts in pain and pulls, causing him to fall to the ground. Aiden hops over the man and kicks the door, but it doesn’t open. He kicks it again and it opens. Aiden quickly steps outside and then turns, only to see an arrow wizz by his face, only missing him by a few inches. He begins to sprint off, but he is slowed as he is shot in the left arm. He curses, but he keeps running. He eventually loses the three remaining men in the nearby forest. He finds the path then begins to jog towards the cloud temple to get his arm healed before returning to the Upright Man to give him the scroll. An old man has taken rest from his travels under a tree, his bag is to the left of him, and he appears to have a dagger on him. In the far distance you see some travelers coming, though they are still a far while off. How will you pull of this thievery? Aiden casually leans against a nearby tree and waits for a little while. After about fifteen minutes, the travelers pass through the small cluster of trees. The old man gets up with the travels’ help and walks with them. Aiden curses under his breath as he follows the group. They make their way to a nearby human village and then they part ways. Aiden doesn’t think twice and he walks up to the man. He’s about to try and pickpocket his coin purse, but then a guard rounds the corner and walks by them. The man notices Aiden and raises an eyebrow before shrugging and walking to the Inn. Aiden follows him in and sits on a chair on one of the walls. The old man rents a room and goes up to it. He puts his bag and cane on the table in the room then lies in the bed and falls asleep. Aiden rents the room next to him and walks up the stairs casually. He tries to open the door and is surprised to find it unlocked. He silently walks into the room and goes to grab the bag. The old man stirs as he picks up the bag, but he only rolls over and he doesn’t wake. Aiden sneaks out of the room and shuts the door before rummaging through the bag. He finds a coin purse, a silver dagger, some bread, and a diamond. Aiden grins before closing the bag then casually walking out of the inn then walking off to sell his spoils. -OOC- Thanks for reading this and I hope that you consider me for the MTG :)

  16. I'll add some elvish name examples under language :) I used a generator similar to that when I first made my elf. Now I kind of wish I had known more about the language, then I would of made a name using elvish words. I mean, those guides work and are fine, but I'm going to put in some names using the elvish language as well as try to explain how new elves can make their own names. Thanks! Can't wait to RP with your elf in-game :)
  17. I completely agree with you. I tried to hint at that throughout the guide, but I'll add a few things because you brought it up.
  18. I'm happy with how my guide on elves turned out, hopefully more applicants will become elves now! :)

  19. This is a tough question, but I talked with some other malinorian elves and I would say that an elf would be able to live over 1,000 years, however you must take their backstory into account. If they, for example, had loved one's that had died, they would probably loose the will to live sooner than another elf, which ties in with suicidal feelings and when they loose their minds. I would say that an elf would begin to loose their mind at age 1,000, and it would get worse as time goes on. Elves might also go insane/have suicidal feeling because the world might seem to be repetitive to an elf that old, as it would probably seem to them that wars are fought for the same reasons every century, or that humans/orcs will always attack your characters home when a new leader comes in, and the treaty your people worked so hard for is now nullified.. Things like that might cause these kinds of thoughts. Note: This is our opinions, as elves in game, as to what the answer to your question would be. You could always PM a loremaster for confirmation if you want, as their answer might be different.
  20. Hello applicants! Do you want to play the longest lived of all the races, the elves? I hope that you do, as playing an elf can be very entertaining and it brings interesting roleplay that you probably won’t find anywhere else here on The Lord of the Craft. BRIEF HISTORY The first elves were born with their father as malin, the forefather of all elves. Malin was also one of the four brothers from the start of time, according to the works of the wandering wizard. When Aegis was first settled, the children of malin went deep into the forests. In these forests, they created the first language and named the things that they saw; the trees, the grass, the mountains, the valleys, etc of Aegis. When Iblees tempted the four brothers, he promised Malin many children to fill the halls of the elves, which were very empty. During the battle against the fallen Daemon, Malin fought well with his blade, landing many blows on Iblees. As the fight continued, Malin feared for the lives of his elven children and stayed in his forest sanctuaries. When Iblees was defeated, he cursed the four brothers. Instead of malin getting more children, his people were cursed with infertility so the forest sanctuaries of the elves would stay barren and near empty. The Aengul and Daemon that helped win the war only could grant Malin peace and long life for the few elvish children he would have. SUBRACES There are three subraces of elves. The subrace of elf that calls trees and the forest home is the wood elf, or mali’ame. They are very in tune with nature and are very good archers. They can also blend in with their home, the forest, relatively well. They have cocoa coloured skin and brown or dirty blonde hair, which they sometimes dye green or other natural colours.Their eye colour is usually green or violet, however brown is occasionally seen. The subrace of elf that dwells in caves are the dark elves, or mali’ker. They have gray to black skin, rarely dark blue and hair that can be pale blue, to white, to black. Their eye colour is normally blue, green, violet, or red (due to lack of pigmentation). Black eyes are possible, but they are very rare. Dark elves usually use a sword as their weapon of choice, however archery among dark elves is not uncommon, even if they are not as skilled in the art as their wood elven brothers and sisters. The subrace of elf that lives in tall towers and in cities with a large cast-iron gate and stone walls are the high elves, or mali’aheral. They have pale skin and light blonde or platinum coloured hair. Their eye colour ranges from green to blue, and is sometimes purple. Their eye colour may get darker as they get older which is a sign of wisdom. High elves are usually more skilled in reading or writing than combat, however most high elves know how to use a sword and are commonly found with one in their homes or at their side. High Elves are the most elitist than the other elves, and have strong beliefs of purity and views that other elves might find strange, though to them it is a sort of code to live by. THE HOLY PRINCEDOM OF MALINOR Malinor is the nation that elves call home. There are three districts to malinor: The Wood Elven district, the high elven district, and the dark elven district. The High Council leads Malinor, and the current High Prince is a high elf named Kolyat. The current princes and princesses are: Princes: Oceas, Emberhard, Kolyat, and Khel. Princesses: Rosumund. There are also many jobs available for elves in malinor such as: Miner Lumberjack Farmer Fisherman Builder Sentinel ( Guard Force of malinor, and information on it can be found here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/81877-join-the-sentinels/ ) You could also own a shop, blacksmith, tavern, etc if you get yourself a building to make it in. The Lower Council is also a path of work that you could attempt to do. Information on the lower council can be found here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/80086-available-positions-on-the-councils/ and here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/78464-a-guide-for-all-those-desiring-to-apply-for-a-lower-council-position/ Here's how you can get to malinor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SgYyBPWErIo One would also note that most elves would live in malinor, and not with humans. Most elves in malinor refer to their brothers and sisters to live in human settlements 'humans with pointy ears'. There are cases when elves will live with humans, though the majority of elves would rather live in malinor with their kin over humans. LANGUAGE/NAMES The ancient elvish language was lost (and most of it still is), however the elves (mainly high elves) are working on recovering the language. A full dictionary that has every word so far can be found here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/19254-recovering-the-ancient-tongue-of-the-elves/ However, that is very long, and most elves don’t know any more than a handful of words. So, I will list words that are commonly used when elves communicate with each other so that you can use them while roleplaying in-game. There is a physical bookworm book of the dictionary I linked above in-game, so you can roleplay it as you read the dictionary and now use the following words and terms. Races & Subraces: Mali - Elf Bortu - Dwarf Uruk - Orc Valah - Human Mali’aheral - A direct translation is blessed elves, however it is used to refer to high elves. Mali’ame - Wood Elf Mali’ker - Dark Elf Greetings: Karin’ayla - Used as a greeting when it is day-time. Ker’ayla - Used as a greeting when it is night-time. Van’ayla - Farewell, used at any time to say goodbye. Weapons/Tools: berr - Bow fer’ame - Axe fer’thuln - pickaxe fer’nor - shovel fer’sul - torch fer’bilok - hammer fer’norsae - hoe sil - sword ihnsil - spear Misc Words That Are Commonly Used: igne - Fire/War llir - Friend maln - father Haelun - mother Names When picking out a character name, you can do two things. You can A. Use an elvish name generator from the internet or B. Use the elvish language here on LoTC to make a name for yourself out of the words that have been discovered. If you choose B, this guide here by Sporadic will help you (all credits go to him for this) http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/28394-elf-up-your-name/ Either one works, take into account who raised your character and how they did it. If your character is a pure elf and was raised in malinor, perhaps make an elvish name using he language. If they were raised by humans, perhaps use the internet-based generator. AGING/REPRODUCTION A common belief is that elves mature ten times slower than humans, so that a 100 year old elf would be equivalent to a 10 year old human. This, however, is incorrect. From birth until the age of 20, elves mature at the same rate as humans. Once they have reached the age of 20, their physical aging progression slows drastically, making it seem as if they aren’t aging at all. Elves are not burdened by the mortality of humans, so they can live for over 1,000 years, if they survive that long. (They can still die from an arrow, a sword, poison, drowning, burning to death, etc, just not old age until they’re extremely old). Despite this, they’re mental progression does not slow, so a younger elf would probably be wiser than the oldest human. Elves become full adults at the age of 125, Middle-age for an elf is around 500, and over 800 would be considered elderly. So, I would recommend making your elf over 125, unless you’re aiming to play a child or younger elf. Elves can physically have children once they reach the age of 20, however this is frowned upon by older elves because 20 isn’t an adult, it would be considered a youngling. Elves must also wait 10-15 years between each child they have due to the curse of Iblees. Once an elf is over 500, it becomes even harder than before to reproduce so most elves have their children, if they choose to, before they reach this age. When an elf is age 20-499 and is trying to have a child, I would recommend a /roll 20 then if it's over 15, you can have a child. If the character is 500+ then perhaps a /roll 60 Then if it's 50 or over the player can have a child. I recommend you do this so that the curse of Iblees is not ignored and is taken into account, because if it is not, that's not following the lore. (Which isn't good!) Side Note: Because elves have such a long lifespan, they are generally more peaceful, as they think more before acting. They think more before they act because they know that they can die from a blade, an arrow, an axe, poison, etc. So, most elves probably wouldn’t try to go out and pick fights, as they should know that they have a lot more of their life ahead of them, and, for example, they wouldn’t risk fighting an orc, as they might die and not get to live the rest of their long life. This is because their old age causes them to be wise, not because they fear enemies, as elves can be very good archers and swordsmen. 22. The Malinor Sentinels Who are we? We are the soldiers of Malin. We are the protectors and servants of the High Council of Malinor and its people. As one, we rise to defend our great lands in the name of the Princedom. It has been our duty for centuries to ensure peace and safety of the great lands of Malinor. We are the Sentinels. Sentinel Laws and Guidelines Sentinels must always obey the orders and respect the authority of the High Council. By serving in the Sentinels they pledge an oath to the High Council to protect the people and engage any enemy of the Holy Princedom that the High Council dictates. Sentinels must obey the orders of those superiors appointed over them. Disobedience is to not be tolerated as it flies in the face of discipline and good order. Orders are to be carried out to the best of one's ability in order to ensure that the complete effort of the Sentinels in its duties to the Holy Princedom does not falter. Sentinels must not allow foreign concepts of 'honor' or the like to intrude on their duties. At the same time the Sentinel must not commit atrocities that would fly in the face of the ordeals of the Holy Princedom of Malinor. Sentinels should never surrender so long as there is a means to resist, nor should a leader surrender the Sentinels under their command so long as they have a means to resist. Cowardice is also insufferable for a Sentinel to display. All measures should be taken so that no Sentinel or Citizen is left behind to their fate during conflict or disaster. If a Sentinel is captured, they will make every effort to escape such captivity. If more then one is present they will work together to escape. Captured Sentinels will never accept bribes or gifts from their captors. They will refuse to answer any interrogations to the nature of their duties. Improper conduct within the Sentinels is not to be tolerated. Sentinels represent the arm and shield of the Holy Princedom and must keep the best appearance up at all times. All Sentinels, new and current must swear to abide by these codes. Standards of Conduct Insubordination - Disrespect towards a superior or disobeying a duty given by a superior is considered insubordination. This includes dereliction of such duty. This is a minor offense in Malinorian law. Exception is if the superior is apart of the High Council in which this is a severe offense instead. Assault - Physically striking an innocent citizen of Malinor, another Sentinel, innocent Foreigner, or other official that is not under arrest or resisting such. This is a minor offense or severe if a weapon is used. Elevated to severe and capital offenses if such is a superior. Dissension/Sedition - Speaking out against the High Council, the Malinor Sentinel, or the Holy Princedom. Slandering an official or superior is also covered here. Such is the equivalent of a severe offense or capital offense if determined to be treasonous. Mutiny- Rising up against once superiors. This is punishable by capital offense, resulting in either exile or execution, or in certain cases Unceremonious Death. Improper Conduct - Equivalent to the Malinorian law representing disorderly conduct. Sentinel are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all times and not bring discredit to themselves, the Sentinel or the Holy Princedom. The severity of the offense depends on the impact of the action. General Law - All actions not covered here but are covered in Malinorian law apply to this article. The document on the offenses describes the punishment required for offenses not listed here for Sentinel that commit such offenses. Removal - Those Sentinels that commit an equivalent to a severe or capital offense will be removed from the Malinor Sentinels. Repeated offenses of a minor nature will also subject the individual to removal as well. Superiors of sufficient rank may remove a subordinate if they feel they do not make a good match for the Sentinels. This may be overturned by their superior or the High Council. Parir'sil and under (Hielia'sair - Parir'sil) may be removed by a Merache'sair or higher. Anyone may be removed at any time by a member of the High Council. Ranks High Prince - The Leader of the High Council. In defense and military affairs, the High Prince or Princess serves as a Commander in Chief. They are advised by the High Council, as well as the Mamerache'sair when they directly involve themselves in the Sentinels. Prince/Princess - Position in the High Council. All Sentinels are to obey the orders given by a Prince or Princess. Occasionally a Prince or Princess will serve as the commander of the military and in which case the Mamerache'sair (if one is present) serves as their advisor. Mamerache'sair - Oversees the entire military as well as compiles the reports of their Sentinels and gives the pertinent information to the High Council. The Mamerache'sair may sentence offenders for any level of offense (minor, severe, or capital). This rank is capable of performing the duties of any rank of the Sentinels. Merache'sair - Functions as a commander of the Sentinels in an entire city. They receive their reports from their Wardens and compile them for the High Commander. When needed, Sentinels may perform the duties of any rank below them. Parir'sil - This rank handles day to day affairs. Compiles reports for the Merache'sair appointed over their city. They are in charge of patrol routes and given access to the gates in order to regulate the entry of visitors. This includes city gates, customs at the ports, and other passages. Their posts serve as a central point for Outrider patrol routes. Parir'sils may also make patrols. Parir'sils are also able to sentence offenders for Minor or Severe offenses, but not capital offenses. Wardens can function in the duties of any rank below them. Evarir - The main body of the Sentinels. These elves are fully capable of making arrests to those who trespass the laws of the Princedom. Evarirs are expected to patrol the cities and wilderness around the Princedom. Mahielia'sair - Once a Heila’sair has been trained and is deemed adequate by the standards of agility, swordsmanship, archery, etc, they are promoted to this rank. They are allowed to make arrests if they are with another sentinel who is not a hielia’sair. If they prove themselves as an actual guard of malinor, then they will be promoted to Evarir, the main body of the sentinels. Hielia'sair - A probationary rank used for training purposes. These are assigned to a Parir'sil to train and mentor. They have no ability to make arrests on their own, they can only assist those above them in such matters unless explicitly instructed otherwise. Joining To join the malinor sentinels, you must contact the Mamerache'sair (SirSmithers) or one of the Merache'sairs (Aiden_AJK) (Pinoy_Boy12).Make sure you have read and understand everything before agreeing to join. We are accepting all mali (elves) that live in malinor. We might also accept a select few botru (dwarves) and/or valah (humans). No uruk (orcs) will be allowed to join. You could also send a letter to one of the Merache'sairs or the Mamerache'sair if you wish to. (Forum PM Me, Pinoy_Boy12, or Smithers or you could reply to this topic)
