Definitions
In your own words
define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:
Role-playing:
Role-playing is taking on the role of someone different or similar to yourself.
Role-play usually Role-playing or rp is different from rpg’s in the sense that
in while playing an rpg, you are the main character or the “hero” while in rp
no one is the main character and everyone plays an equally important role.
Meta-gaming:
Meta-gaming is essentially taking information that you or someone else learned
ooc or “out of character” and using it to give your character an advantage ic
or “in character”. This information is often used to give your character an ic
advantage over someone else’s character.
EX:
Tom see’s that his
Arch Nemesis, Marty, has an accepted VA and is trying to join a thieves guild.
Tom immediately goes
in-game and accuses Marty, in-character, to be a thief and villain, thus
getting Marty thrown into jail.
Power-emoting: Power
emoting is basically forming an action in character that does not allow
another’s character to respond adequately. Power-Emoting is often used in rp
combat scenarios.
EX:
*Marty is really,
really angry at his Arch Nemesis Tom for calling him a thief*
*Marty grabs a nearby
shovel and bashes Tom’s repeatedly, killing him in the process*
In-Character
Information:
Complete the
following biography on your character:
Full Name: Wyrund
Faldrum Elm-Heart
Current Age: 3 and a
seventh seasons (22 years old)
Sub-race (if any):
Forest Dwarf.
Clan (if any): Not any
at the moment but I was hoping to join one as soon as possible. If I get
accepted of course.
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):
Born on a warm sunny
evening just outside the Druid Grove in Malinor, in a small house, the likes of
which you would expect from a wood elf. Wyrund Elm-Heart was the son of two
Forest Dwarfs. His Father, a fisherman and part time bard, and his mother, a
Druid who had was studying to be a druid guide at the time. Wyrund’s childhood
was simple and relaxed. Being a tiny little forest dwarf, Wyrund would often go
out with his father to a nearby river or lake, where he learned how to fish,
swim, and occasionally hunt. Wyrund loved anything to do with the outdoors and
nature, and would often hike and climb trees for many hours. This is something
his mother and father encouraged, as they loved nature themselves and hoped
that someday, little Wyrund would become a great and powerful druid. Hoping to
gain the approval of his parents, Wyrund tried learn more about nature at every
turn. Whether that meant reading old books and ancient tomes in his hut rather
than play hide and seek with other children in The Grove, or taking long trips
into the forest to understand nature. Despite this discipline Wyrund was still
a happy soul, but now he was humble and polite unlike most his age. Similar to
his age though, Wyrund always sought approval from his parents and elders, this
changed however, when the Dwarven Legion came marching.
It was a 2 years after
his second season, When the Legion came down the Anthos Highway. Wyrund doesn’t
remember why they were marching, or where they were going, all he remembered
was them themselves, battleaxes sheathed, banners high, and armor shining, they
marched. He had been out studying the roots of a small herb, trying to
understand it’s growing process and hopefully learn why it grew like it did. As
he did this Wyrund started to hear a Deep sound coming from the Highway. It
started to get louder and deeper. Wyrund thought he heard deep voices shouting
as well. Annoyed at losing his train of thought, Wyrund began to walk toward
the big noises, He was cautious at first, but when he saw the Grandaxe symbol
on an banner in between the trees, he relaxed. Every dwarf new of the
Grandaxes. Brave, Pure Blooded Mountain dwarfs, most of which were important
officials in Kal’Azgoth or Proud soldiers of the Dwarven Legion. Wyrund new
about the legion but like most in his village, didn’t really care for Dwarven
warfare or politics, He was about to turn back and return to his study when he
saw them. The legionnaires were clothed in black iron armor, the likes of which
Wyrund had never seen. At their sides were big battleaxes made of the same
iron. They marched to the sound of the drum, moving together, like a giant
organism. Wyrund was in awe. He couldn’t believe his eyes; these men were
braver and tougher than any he had ever seen. They risked their lives every day
for the good of the kingdom and as he watched them pass Wyrund questioned
himself.
What did he stand for?
Why was he studying the trees when they were out doing brave and
valiant things?
Could he join them?
As this went on
Wyrund’s questions got harder.
Why would they accept a no-body like himself?
A nature-loving forest dwarf, who hadn’t had a day’s worth of
proper combat training?
Why would he want to give up this peaceful and good life for one
of hardship and duty?
Despite all of these
questions, as Wyrund watched them march down the highway to new foreign lands,
He knew his purpose in life.
Over the next few
years, Wyrund found himself growing more and more conflicted about nature, and
the outside world. As he learned more about warfare and the Kingdom of Urguan
the more in-grossed he became, Now he would spend hours reading books on
tactics or great generals, or work on his hunting prowess and marksmanship. As
this change happened Wyrund became a bit more confident and outgoing. He found
that he didn’t need the approval of his parents or elders, but that he needed
the approval of that of the legion and Dwarves of Urguan. This worried his
parents, who still wanted Wyrund to become a great, and famous druid. This
worry grew to the point where one night, Wyrund’s parents confronted him, they
gave him a choice. He was to stay in his village until he was ready to become a
druid, or he was to leave, that night, and never come back. His parents had
been expecting him to finally give into their pleas. As they thought that
Wyrund was a smart boy who was just going through a rough state, and would
surely come to his senses. Wyrund thought about this, after a few minutes he
got up. He told his parents he was leaving Malinor, and that he hoped that this
wasn’t the last time he would be seeing them. Wyrund then grabbed a bag and
packed up some supplies. He grabbed hunting bow, strung it over his shoulder
and without looking back to hear the pleas of his parents, walked out the door,
into the warm summer evening.
Ambitions for the Future: Wyrund wants to join the Dwarven legion and hopes to prove
himself a strong warrior and Brave defender of the people of the Kingdom of
Urguan. Wyrund also hopes to prove that forest dwarves can also be considered
more than tree-loving druids.
Personality Wyrund is generally rather confident and out-going in the
presence of nature. In doors or underground however, he is often reserved and
closed off. This will usually come off as sour to most, but this is simply the
way of forest dwarves though and once you get him outside, he is much happier. He
hates being considered a “No beard” or “Tree hugger” even if he still has a
strong tie to nature. While he generally
tries to avoid the dwarves that make fun of him for being a forest dwarf, He is
very loyal to those who are kind or treat him fairly.
Skills: Wyrund still
contains most of his knowledge about nature and the forest, making him a
proficient fisherman, woodcarver, gardener, and hunter.
Like most forest
dwarves Wyrund shows more skill with a bow than an axe. He still has very much
to learn about archery of course as he has only started taking it seriously in
his more recent years of life.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin):
Any other details you wish to share about your character: Wyrund is a funny drunk and generally dislikes any beards on
dwarf women. He also likes the outdoors just as much but doesn’t study like he
used to, instead he will use this knowledge to his advantage, often teaching
other dwarves things they didn’t know about above-ground. He sometimes wonders
if he should be a soldier, he often longs for the freedom of the outdoors but
his sense of duty always manages to pull him back.
Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be
answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____
1. Whilst mining deep in the undergrounds of Kalos you see a large deposit
of diamond ore at the other side of the ravine you are on. There is a very thin rock bridge
that looks precariously unstable, but it is the only way to access the deposit. What do you do?
Answer: Wyrund sighs. “Why am I
even down here anyways? I know that mining is supposed to be a big thing with my
kin but damn is it cramped.” Wyrund sees the diamonds on the other side of the
ravine. “Well about time I got a break”.
He Quickly writes down the location of the diamonds and goes to tell
another miner. Wyrund thinks, if I don’t
want to mine these ores then maybe I can at least get a good reputation for
telling a dwarf who can, and maybe even get a few minas. He then proceeds
to look for a safe way to the diamonds, trying to remember the way back as he
goes. Once he finds a safe way, he walks back and finds one of his kin who is
having no such luck, Wyrund then leads them back to the diamonds and smiles as the
other dwarf praises him for leading them here.
2. You are sitting in the local tavern with a large pint of ale in your hand - sitting nearby you is a rather young dwarf
whom is
clearly going through a bad time. He is crying to himself, and clutching a small wooden hammer toy. In the other corner of the
room two shady dwarves are sitting whispering to each other and pointing occasionally
at the dwarf. They stand up, one with a small dagger in his hand and begin to approach the young dwarf. What do you do?
Answer: Wyrund sees this and nonchalantly
begins to walk over the to the young crying dwarf. He then sits down and puts his hand on the
dwarfs shoulder and yells for two strong drinks. “Aye! One fer me’an da lad
over here! He clearly got laid off fro, the toy factory today!” laughs and points
to the little hammer toy trying to act jolly and happy. Wyrund looks over his
shoulder for the men and sees they are now sitting at their table, staring at
him. Wyrund sighs and grabs his drink thirstily while dropping some minas on the
counter “So boy what be wrong wit ye’?” Wyrund asks, his hand tightening on his
axe as he feels the men staring into his back. He then talks to the lad about
his problems until the men are gone. After that Wyrund gets the kid a room and
tells him harshly to stay out of trouble, and that next time, someone like
himself won’t come along to save him. With that, he retires to his room and
puts his axe next to his bed, expecting the worst.
3. Whilst wandering through the Dwarven Caverns you hear a voice call out to you; “Oi, ye’! C’mere n’ get ye’rself an ale!”. You spin on your heel and see a heavily bearded
bar-owner
looking at you - a huge grin on his face, and a mug of ale in his hand. How do you react?
Answer: Wyrund is surprised that the bar-owner is out here in the
caverns and is even talking to a forest dwarf, Wyrund looks around to see if he
is talking to anyone else. Seeing that there is no one around, he then ignores
the man, expecting an insult or worse. If the man persists, Wyrund would say. “I
er’ respect the offer sir.” He then starts to back away “But eh’ why don’t ye
be off now.” As he is about to leave
Wyrund thinks to himself I don’t need to
be the victim of another prank by my kin, I’ve already showed them my low alcohol
tolerance, no need to prove them right again. Wyrund then bows to the bar-owner and quickly
turns around and begins to back away and exit the caverns, trying to act like
what he did was not rude.
