Out-Of-Character Information Please fill out the following questions as accurately as possible, and ensure the essential details are accurate. Minecraft Account Name: CarrJ How old are you?: 18 Tomorrow! Time-Zone: EST Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes. What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: I’ve been role-playing for about four years on various games. Those games consist of: Runescape, Guild Wars/2 and various forum sites. How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: A few of my friends have played it. I decided I would finally give it a try! Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: I have not yet applied. Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-the-lord-of-the-craft-enter-the-world-of-anthos-officially-t-h-e-1-roleplay-server/page__st__2580 Have you read the Human lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes, it was also very interesting! Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: Role-playing is the act of taking on the role of a character in an immersive interactive setting, creating and weaving storyline and development with others. Role-play takes us into a world where we can be anything… do anything(within lore of course!)… and have fun! Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is the act of using O.O.C.(Out of character) information in-game. That also includes mixing emotions/feelings towards others O.O.C./I.C.. To me, meta-gaming is easiest explained in an example: John(Random name) doesn’t like Alan(Random name) because O.O.C.’ly, Alan makes fun of John. If John begins to attack Alan’s character while in role-play, due to the O.O.C. feelings, that would be a meta-game. Power-emoting: Power-emoting is also what I like to consider auto-hitting. Once again, I find this easiest to explain in an example. An example of power-emoting would be best described in a fight. If John(Random name) and Alan(Random name) begin to duel, and then Alan strikes for John’s head without allowing him time to respond with and action, such as blocking, or dodging, would be power-emoting/auto-hitting. In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Joseph Adalhard Current Age: Twenty Race: Human Sub-race (if any): No sub-race Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Joseph was born to Maeda and Maurice Adalhard in the Kingdom of Salvus, Anthos. His father was a Man at arms in the Oren Lances while his mother was a weaver. Joseph was also one of two children. His older brother, Asheron, was three years older than him but at a quick glance, you’d think they were twins. When the children were just five and eight, Maurice was badly injured in a training exercise. Maurice, being too badly injured to continue in the Oren Lancers, made his way back to the family farm in Salvus. While Maurice’s wounds healed and his spirit rejuvenated, Joseph had a birthday. On his birthday, Andrus Vekon, a shield-brother to Maurice, came to visit the family. Since it was Joseph’s birthday and Andrus had not brought a gift, he whittled a small sword for the boy to play with. Of course all small boys were playing with swords at the time, but not many of them had fathers around to teach them how to use one. As Maurice’s body healed, he began to get out more. While he was unable to leave his bed, the family suffered financially. The family was forced to sell some of their livestock and Asheron was unwilling forced to get a job. While Asheron was away working in Kingston and sending money home, Maurice began to hunt for furs. He took Joseph on many game runs and taught him how to use a longbow. At night Joseph would spar with his father, losing every time except when his father allowed him to win. After many years of slow-paced lifestyle, Joseph wanted to get out more. Maurice always told elegant stories of how he and his fellow men at arms would valiantly slay numerous monsters, and soon, Joseph wanted that lifestyle for himself. Going out, slaying evil creatures, being a hero! Wouldn’t everyone want that? Of course when it came to the real world, his father usually told tall tales but, Joseph never knew. And then, with his fathers old mail he began off. First on his agenda was to see the magnificent Imperial Palace in the capital! With little minas and little knowledge of the real world, Joseph set off…. Ambitions for the Future: Joseph wants to become what his father was. He heard numerous stories of what his father did and wanted to become him.. To him, his father was like an archetype. His plans for the future are to join a knight order, and try and contact his fathers old friends, who’ve all seem to have lost contact with the family, except Andrus Vekon. After seeing the beautiful capital, Joseph is going to set off to find Andrus and see if he can offer him any sort of job, possibly within a knight order. Personality: Joseph hasn’t been into towns much, so he has little real world knowledge. He doesn’t know many current or past events, so he’s not the brightest on those subjects. He is, however a survivor. Living out in the wilderness isn’t something you can just ‘do’. His family had to protect themselves against monsters at night, or bandits who attempted to raid their farm. Joseph is always forgiving, though. He believes everyone should have a second chance, at everything. He is quick to make decisions, which isn’t always good, as making haste assumptions can have heads roll! He’s basically a sheltered kid who is wondering into lively world. Skills: Over the years Joseph has become adequate with a blade and a bow. He can shoot, to hunt, and use his blade to protect himself. His father always wanted Joseph to know how to use a shield properly, to protect himself. He’s no good to the family if all he knows how to do is attack and not defend! Aside from the violent skills, Joseph knows how to weave his own clothes and dry his own furs. If he had to survive in the wilderness, he'd have a much better advantage at surviving than others of his age, due to his childhood on his parents farm. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Joseph has dirty blonde hair along with kind deep blue eyes. He is around six feet tall, as he’s twenty years old now and basically done growing. Joe has no facial scaring nor markings on his body. His body is lean, and he has some muscle too him. Growing up on a farm that is basically bankrupt isn’t an easy life! Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: Joseph is way too trusting, which would be apparent right off the bat. Seeing a man in all black attire would not signal any alarms within his head. Joseph has not been taught about the evil in the world and that there are humans who are against other humans. Until the dark-dressed being did a violent action would Joseph do something. If however, the being did have a weapon in hand, Joseph would attempt to alert the guard without getting himself known by the devious being. In other words, he'd try and alert the guards without allowing his name to be mentioned or allowing the evil being to know he was the one who triggered the guards. He didn’t want any problems with the dark-clothes figure. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: Joseph would approach skeptically. He would try not to make any hasty decisions, but he wouldn't sit around and watch the old man get bullied. Upon attempting to overhear them, Joseph would try and find out knowledge of what was happening with the old man. Once Joseph uncovered the true intentions of the two cowardly bandits attempting to rob the old man, he would do something. He'd move in quickly, trying to be secretive, and attempt to place his blade upon the back of one of the mans head. If doing so without triggering the other bandit, Joseph would begin to speak with the men, "Leave now if you want your accomplice alive!" Hopefully, the bandit would exit. After the bandit was clearly out of sight would Joseph lower his blade and allow the other bandit to exit. Joseph is against killing because he feels no man has the power to take another's life. If however, he was spotted, Joseph would attempt to reason with the two men, offering his minas, if he had any, to leave. If not, Joseph would begin to ready himself for a fight. Due to him being outnumbered, Joseph would need to his surroundings to take cover. Hiding behind trees and throwing dirt into their eyes would be very helpful. Blinding and disarming the bandits would be first and foremost. Taking their weapons and allowing the poor old man to leave the scene would be next. Afterwards, Joseph himself would leave the scene of the crime in search of a public official to explain the events which took place along with a detailed description of what the criminals looked like. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: Joseph would approach the stall willingly with his bag of minas in hand. He'd being to look around the stall, noting that the man was willing to work with the prices. Once he saw something he liked, which was a deep blue shirt, he'd begin to ask about it. "How much would you let this shirt go for, sir?" He'd ask with a curious tone. "Well, that sword you have looks delightful." Joseph would then look down at his side to the sword which was hanging off his waist, then back up to the man." "Well, how much minas do you think you'd let it go for?" Joseph would exclaim because he'd rather not trade his family sword for a nice looking shirt. The man would then begin to investigate Joseph again, seeing if he had anything... He didn't. "Well, I'll take six minas to cover the cost, aye?" Joseph would look into his minas pouch then back at the man. "Five and its sold, sir!" The man would nod and Joseph would lay the minas out and then pick up the shirt. Joseph would then smile and turn away, feeling he made a good barter! And he didn't even have to pull the sympathy card to convince the man to sell the shirt!
