A steady stream of courtiers and visitors pass by him, their heated bodies jostling against him, however he stands his ground, content to look at this massive citadel, within which lies what he hopes might be a future for him. After a few moments more, his gaze slowly travelling along the extent of the vine and moss covered stone exterior, he lets out a breath he hadn't realised he was holding, and sets to heading inside. Battling against the near continual river of people swirling in and out of the towering gates before him, he slowly but surely passes through the gates of this grand and dark citadel. Upon doing so, he relaxes somewhat, and allows himself to be carried with the steady flow of humanity which is pushing it's way towards the throne room of the Imperial Divinity, and more to the point, a possible saviour to those around him. The gushing flood of people slowly begins to slow as they enter the palace proper, the corridors with rich and ornate furnishings gently regulating the flow, and preventing it from becoming too great at any one time. Imperial soldiers stand on either sides of the stream of people, occasionally pushing at those who draw too close to the edges, and watching carefully for those who might decide to take advantage of the proximity to others to steal a wallet or piece of jewellery. At one point, Charles feels a small hand feeling at his money-pouch, however with a quick slap and brief hold, his spidery fingers grasping onto the small hand with a firm grip until he lets go again, the hand is quickly deterred. Soon after, the corridor they are in widens out, and he gazes around at the throne room which he finds himself in. From here, the fast pace slows almost to a complete halt, as person after person after seemingly never-stopping person make their case to the King. It is near three hours before Charles finally reaches the front of the line. Here, he waits his turn with growing impatience, the eyes which had taken in the walls of the exterior so calmly now flitting from side to side, taking in the view which had up till then been obstructed. Finally, the man before him bows low and takes his leave, and Charles step forward, a firm hand from one of the Imperial Guards sending him on his way faster than he would like. As he makes his way to the base of where the Imperial Divinity, Siegmund Carrion, sits, he bows low, his eyes averted from the figure before him. "Your Imperial Divinity, it is a privilege to be allowed to speak to you today." He coughs slightly, clearing his throat in preparation for the spiel to come, and with his eyes still averted in respect, he stands tall. "I have come to you to inquire as to whether your Highness is in need of a skilled scholar and historian. I have recently found myself in need of work, having finished travelling around our world, and through perhaps that my skills may be of use to you. Whether it be in administration, historical documentation, or in an advisory role, whatever you see fit." At this, Charles stops, clearing his throat again, and stands there, a serene expression on his face, whilst his mind works furiously, running through what he has said again and again, wondering whether something was badly worded, or if he forgot a portion of what he needed to say. With a slight shake of his head, he clears such thoughts from his mind using a little known meditative trick he picked up during his travels from a High Elf sage, and focuses back on waiting for a reply, his thoughts calmly breaking and receding like waves on a beach. ,.,-=~´"-~-"`~=-,.,-=~´"-~-"`~=-,.,-=~´"-~-"`~=-,.,-=~´"-~-"`~=-,.,-=~´"-~-"`~=-,.,-=~´"-~-"`~=-,.,-=~´"-~-"`~=-,.,

Kaedreni Throne Room
{Charles Redwing} -Pmck6- replied to Esterlen's topic in Anthos Roleplay Archive
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Charles nods and grins in thanks, bowing first to the King, and then to Thomas as a gesture of his gratitude. He files to the side, and quickly extracts a large notebook from the satchel at his side. Making his way to a seat, he sits and begins to write down what is happening, firstly as a way of making records for possible future books, and secondly as a way of passing the time until he can speak to Thomas further. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -
Kaedreni Throne Room
{Charles Redwing} -Pmck6- replied to Esterlen's topic in Anthos Roleplay Archive
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Charles slowly pushes through the packed hallways of the citadel of Ard Kerrack, grumbling to himself as he ducks and weaves through the crowds lining up for their time with the King. He runs over what he is going to say in his mind as he walks toward the great doors to the Citadel Throne Room, constantly revising and repeating the small speech he has prepared. As he finally gets to the great doors, he smiles to the scribe on station there, and nods to him. "Ah, greetings." He nods in understanding as he listens to the scribes' request for his name, and then grins again, growing a bit more nervous under the gaze of the knights on either side of him, but refusing to allow it to show on his face. "I am Charles Redwing, from Solace. I am here to speak with the King." Smiling, he heaves a barely perceptible sigh of relief as the scribe and his burly knights allow him to pass. Quickly he makes his way into the throne room, and then makes his way to his position in the line of petitioners. When he reaches there, he looks around and sees that everyone has stood and are looking towadr the King. He turns, and then smiles as the anthem is begun. Joining in as best he can, he sings along until the end. Once the anthem finishes, he waits in line until it is his turn to speak to the King. He then grins and bows deeply to the King, and then kneels before him, speaking loudly and clearly, as confidently as possible. "Your Royal Highness, a pleasure to finally see you in all your glory. I am Charles Redwing, a simple historian from the city of Solace. I have recently embarked on a large set of travels, venturing around our world and seeing what there is to see. However, now that I have come back to Oren, I must find a proper job . As a loyal citizen of the Kingdom of Kaedrin, i thought that I might be able to help serve you with my various skills. As an educated scholar, I would serve as a good scribe to you, or as your personal historian perhaps? I would be happy to help advise you on the history, culture and politics of our world, whatever you see fit really." Charles finishes quickly, smiling as he does so. He bends his head down and awaits the verdict of the King. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Charles slowly makes his way up the tall hill towards the Black Keep, nervously running through the small speech he is about to give, occasionally nudging the hired horse beneath him to keep it going. He rides past the blockades, showing himself to the soldiers guarding them that he is not armed and that he is perfectly healthy, then continues up the hill. His knees push at the flanks of the horse seemingly of their own will, while his hands release the reins and are clasped tightly together as he thinks and rethinks what words to use. Finally he reaches the Black Keep, and he quickly dismounts. Leaving it to be tied up by one of the numerous servants around the area, he puts on a confident persona and expression and makes his way towards the gates. Smiling in a friendly manner, he greets the scribe as he sees him. "Ah, greetings." He nods in understanding as he listens to the scribes' request, and then grins again, growing a bit more nervous under the gaze of the knights on either side of him, but refusing to allow it to show on his face. "I am Charles Redwing, from Solace. I am here to speak with the King." Smiling, he heaves a barely perceptible sigh of relief as the scribe and his burly knights allow him to pass. Quickly he makes his way into the Keep, and begins to traverse the long corridors toward the throne room. Once he finally gets there, he waits in line until it is his turn to speak to the King. He grins and bows deeply to the King, and then kneels before him, speaking loudly and clearly, as confidently as possible. "Your Royal Highness, a pleasure to finally see you in all your glory. [Academic] The Ministry Of Contemplation
{Charles Redwing} -Pmck6- replied to PtahWithin's topic in Inactive Guilds
(( Minecraft Name: Pmck6 )) A piece of parchment, covered in flowing and neat script, is carried into the main offices of the Ministry by a small owl, whose feathers is tinged with red. It's soft hoots bring attention to it quickly, and it drops the parchment on one of the desks. Still hooting irregularly, it waits to be given a response to be taken to it's master. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Applicant Name: Charles Redwing Race and Age: Human / 24 What Position are you Applying For: I am applying for the position of Librarian, and if possible, to also study as a Phrenal List Any Experience You Have: I was born to a family of scholars, with both parents working as authors and historians. This exposure to the scholarly arts meant that I began to read, write and speak much earlier than other children. I was taught by my parents until age fourteen, learning about the history, culture, politics and law of our world, as well as the various other academic subjects such as mathematics and science, however to a much lesser extent. At age fourteen I was taken in by the Grand Librarian of Solace, and became an apprentice at the library there. I was allowed free reign to read and learn there, and was personally taught by the Grand Librarian himself. Because of this upbringing, I believe I have plenty of experience to be a Librarian at the Ministry, as I have had experience in running, organising and maintaining a proper library and the books within it. I also believe I have the necessary experience to study as a Phrenal, as I more than most understand some of the true nature of knowledge, and how to pass it on. Describe Your Interest: At age 23 I left the Library of Solace, and began travelling through the world to find my place in it. My aim from the outset was to learn all I could in my travels, and ultimately become a professional author and historian in my own right. This passion and drive was put at a new level when I heard of the Ministry and it's goals, and I will do all I can to learn what I am taught, and care for the Ministry's library and other academic facilities. Should you be accepted you are expected to utterly adhere to the Common Clauses, do you understand this: I understand this and willingly subject myself to the Clauses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~- 219 replies
Out-Of-Character Information Minecraft Account Name: Pmck6 How old are you?: 15 Time-Zone: GMT+12 Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: I have RPed on both Rise of Kings and Realms of Caeldor Minecraft RP servers, with considerable success and respect gained in RoK. I am still active on both (having only just started on Realms of Caeldor). How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: From friends and ads. Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: N/A Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): Yes Have you read the Human lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: Role-playing to me means taking on the role of a fictional or historical character and then telling a story (either visually or through text) of their travels and decisions. Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is the use of outside (OOC) knowledge to supplement your character's in-game (IC) knowledge in order to avoid obstacles or challenges in-game, or make decisions that advance your characters interests, which your character would not make if just given their IC knowledge. Meta-gaming brings down RP and makes it unrealistic and unenjoyable. Power-emoting: Power-emoting means to force people to accept the results of your emotes (which are often unfair) without consulting their own or allowing them to emote their own defence. In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Charles Redwing Current Age: 24 Sub-race (if any): Northerner Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Almost thirty years past, in the towering cliff-city of Solace, a small baby was born. With a tuft of brown hair covering a distinguished face, the small baby was a curious soul who was always watching everything. His mother and father, a pair of writers and historians, named Sarah and Edward, adored their child and always worked their hardest to provide him with as many opportunities as possible. Charles was a smart little child, and the influence of his tow scholarly parents made him a quick learner. He began walking and talking at age 11 months, and reading and writing at around 3. He was fast growing into a handsome boy, with clear blue eyes and a slim build. His parents taught him all they knew, putting a vast knowledge of history, politics and general understanding of the world into his little mind, and he put it to good use. From a young age, Charles could be seen with his nose buried in a book, never happier than when he was reading of some long-ago battle or forgotten King. He would often travel through the city to find new books, going to various merchants and charming them into giving him any books they had. Through this experience with merchants, as well as his knowledge of history, he also became quite skilled with the way of the word, able to convince people (except his parents, who were always wise to his ways) of any argument he cared to propagate. Finally, at age 14, he came under the attention of Solace's Grand Librarian. After a lengthy discussion with his parents, the Grand Librarian took in Charles, allowing his full run of the Solace library, and teaching him all that he knew. Added to the knowledge gained from his parents, this knowledge made Charles one of the most knowledgeable children to be found. Charles spent ten years studying at the library, coming to know it and it's contents extremely well. However upon his tenth year, he moved out and left to see his parents once more. Although he had remained in regular contact, he hadn't seen them for a year or so before-hand, so a large celebration occurred as a home-coming for him. Charles was happy there, and so he stayed on at his parents, assisting them in their work as historians, and beginning to write a few books of his own. However after a few years, his natural curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to leave to see the world, as well as advance his budding career as a historian, and increase his knowledge of the world around him. He remains in regular contact with his parents by letter, and intends to visit them regularly whenever he is near Solace. Ambitions for the Future: Charles wishes to become a well-respected historian in his own right. He also likes the idea of beginning a book collection, in order to gain more knowledge of the world around him, something he is devoted to. Personality: Charles is very friendly, and is always quite happy to help people. He is very charming, and often puts this trait to good use when confronted by merchants, or even better, pretty girls. Skills: Charles has an extremely in-depth knowledge of the history of the world, as well as it's politics and various cultures. As well as this he has the skill to charm and deceive people into doing what he wants. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Charles is of a slim build, with light brown hair and pale blue eyes. He looks quite distinguished, and loves to wear good clothes, usually to be seen in a waistcoat and long pants. Any other details you wish to share about your character: N/A (I think I've covered it) Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: Charles furrows his brow as he sees the dark-clothed figure making his way toward the palace, however he does not shout straight away. Instead, he makes his way quietly over to one of the guards and notifies him of this intruder, making it easier for them to surprise the man and take him away. After doing this, he follows the guards and the now captured man to the guard barracks, where he gives a detailed report of what happened, and charms his way into getting a reward for his services. Satisfied at the weighty purse of gold in his pocket, he smiles and continues on his way. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: Charles frowns as he watches the situation unfolding, however keeps his distance from it, continuing on down the road. He is simply taking the sword to a friend of his, and has no idea how to wield it. Because of this, he reasons that it would be stupid to risk a fight with the obviously better equipped and stronger bandits. He quickly reaches a guard outpost further in the forest however, and alerts them to the trouble in the clearing. After alerting the guardsmen, he continues in his travels, satisfied that he has done the right thing. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: Charles grins as he sees that the man is selling almost anything and everything. He quickly makes his way over to the stall and smiles in a friendly manner to the merchant. "Hello there, I don't suppose you have any books or parchments do you?" Charles grin widens as the man quickly pulls out a massive pile of books, placing them on the stall's table. He extends a hand and runs it along the covers of the books, reading their titles. Looking up, he nods to the man and smiles. "Good, good. How much will you charge for the lot?" Stunned by the man's response, Charles chuckles and shakes his head. "Do not mistake me for a fool, I would like to have these books sure, however such a price is unreasonable, as well as being above my simple means. I would pay, 30 gold coins, no more, no less." After this a series of offer are made by both Charles and the merchant, and eventually they come to a conclusion at 50 gold coins for the lot. Charles quickly scoops them up and balances them in one hand, while paying the merchant with the other. Grinning happily, he wanders off, careful not to let any of the books spill or tip off the pile.
