Ves attacked repeatedly without CD for a week, Admin threatens to ban both sides
Llyria gets raided for less than 3 hours, Admin impliments CDs
Hrm ?Admin threatens to ban those who had been naughty, both sides included, if the two sides can’t sort out some conflict rules.
Admin implements temporary CDs due to one side being naughty to the other, despite the ongoing war chat.
Let’s not play a game of ignore the context. CDs can still be overruled if both sides agree. The issue is with the lax rules as they were, people will, and have, taken advantage.

A quick announcement: apologies to all for the confusion with charters this past week or two! There’s been much discussion about the fairness of the old activity requirements. After running some different numbers to find a good balance between allowing niche groups and discouraging excess spread. An effect of that is that, with the nations as a start point and working our way down, we should find some charters succeeding in each tier, but not necessarily smashing it.
Our new expectations are as follows:
T1: 0.3%
T2: 0.6%
T3: 1.2%
T4: 2.0%
NT: 3.0%
Following this, strikes will be retroactively corrected; if you gained strikes a strike while under the harsher requirements but wouldn’t have under the lighter requirements, don’t worry, they’re to be stricken!
Similarly though, with lighter expectations come less wiggle room in them. There exist no plans to offer the removal of strikes due to a narrow miss, for instance.4 -

*All across the realms of the Pax Orenia, leaflets are nailed up:*
Bare-knuckle boxing
As the summer nights draw longer and the warm breeze passes through the rural Laanhold, fields flourish with the coming of the longer, sunnier days.. Children play and townsfolk enjoy the simple life.
But! Some excitement is to be had... The talk of the Town..!
His grace, Duke Stannis Staunton, invites all men of Oren to show their prowess via a friendly boxing tournament! Are you the strongest man in Arcas, or perhaps the fastest?
With a 500 mina prize pool, it's all to play for!
OOC Information
Date: 20th of July 2019
Time 6 pm EST
Location: Laanhold, Duchy of Westmarch
Directions: Follow the road to Haelun’or up from Whitepeak, then left at the sign.3 -
Name of settlement:
Laanhold, Westmarch
Peak time:
Around 3pm EST (from a mix of Europeans and North Americans)
Populace density:
85% Human, 15% Halfling
Brief description:
Laanhold is the cozy agricultural town of the Duchy of Westmarch. With hedgerows bordering the farms leading up to the gentle palisade entrance to the town, the entire area would be welcoming to most. Halfling burrows sit on the left hand side of the road in, and a branch off to the right sweeps up the staircase to the keep: Laanhold Tower. Immediately upon entering the town would be a marketplace, with a medical clinic on the far left, under the clocktower. Bearing left, an arcade leads to a public park, and the small houses in that direction. Straight ahead is the archway leading to the church, manors and side entrance to the keep, and to the right is the road to the apartments, and the tavern too.

Caliph Abbas Kharadeen is sad that the caliphate was not invited.
Stannis had begun to worry the same, before spotting ”Ah, we may not be vassals of the Kingdom of Cascadia, but we are of the House of Cascadia, as the Imperial family.”

Try starting a bandit war with a nation where both sides /could/ gain from it.0 -

Who will agree to that? That's not dynamic roleplay. That's railroading lol.
No, it’s a raid war set in the bracket of the new system. Take it or leave it.
The details would include the target tile would have allowed X number of raids on it per Y time interval (2 per day, 5 per week, w/e) for a week or two. During that time, a limited army size field battle could take place, indicative of the defending army managing to catch the bandits with a patrol, followed later by a siege of the target location (again limited army sizes [20 per side?], as the defending army have split their forces up to try to catch the brigands) or of the bandit camp.
This allows bandits to raid, while giving the nation a definite goal, and the ability to ‘scourge the land’ so to speak, of the bandits.
As the rules were, a bandit group could be defeated a hundred times but still return to attack the same places. The new system would allow for a nation to securely remove a bandit group, while giving the bandit group an opportunity to make a pretty buck, if they’re successful.

I’m gonna write up a potential war proposition for a bandit group to suggest to a nation, to allow larger group raiding & ending with an attack on <Location X> or the bandit camp, with hopefully enough to incentive for a nation to accept it. Calm down and try using the system first.

Stannis has his men remove every obtainable copy of the note found in Westmark and destroy them; as they border the High-Elves, they’d likely be the first to be impacted by the so-called crusade.

imo veteran RPers shouldn’t need a wacky race to make a complex character.
That aside, I attended the Djinn event in Brandybrook, which was pretty fun. I think events need to be made more regular to try to reintroduce that sorta stuff as a more key component of LotC. I remember when some tunnelling slime monsters cropped up in the middle of Riga, or a hunter had spotted the tracks of a particularly large boar. It’s small things like that that really populate the world outside the ‘main’ characters that inhabit it.

“Noted. I guess Godfrey III was a screw up by the last Privy Seal?”
Stannis counts the number of times a Godfrey has ruled Renatus, and the number of times a Godfrey has ruled Oren. ”Well that explains it.”

Stannis reads over the letter, at least finding solace in Mosley’s dignified departure in the face of reason.
”A damn shame,” he mutters, tapping his hand with the letter, before nervously biting his lip,
”A damn shame indeed...”

This is already a thing you can report. Attacking the same settlement across multiple personas is already a Villany Blacklistable action. Infact, it even frowns upon attacking multiple times on the same persona, much less across two personas.
2.4 Targeting a single person or settlement persistently out of spite oocly including.. This includes targeting the same person or settlement more than twice a day. While people here act like it’s really hard to see if someone has ooc intent. I don’t think it’s that hard. See that the player repeatedly uses the same archetypes. See that the player has no clear RP reason for their attacks. See them repeatedly do this over and over. It’s really not that hard to figure out.
Being at war with a nation is as good a reason as any to go harass it.

As mentioned, it's almost impossible to moderate it. Some nations (and players) are more prolific users of this tactic. ‘Proof’ is very slight at best, as work-arounds can be used; “my character was using a fake name”, “my character disguised themselves with prosthetics” etc. We shouldn’t be trying to apply rules to motives, only to actions, and shy of creating ‘miniraid timers’ for individual players, or restricting players to a single persona, there’s no objective way to limit it.
If this kind of roleplay is consistently bad, a player can get a villainy blacklist, all but prohibiting them from showing the kind of behaviour mentioned, but at the end of the day, these kinds of regular attacks are indicative of a nation at war. They’re bringing roleplay to the guards. If you find the roleplay insufficient, there are avenues for it.
It’s a low-blow tactic, but other than devolving LotC so far away from a roleplay server that individuals can only RP in a nation they’ve never had an issue with, it’s an aspect we all have to put up with.

Been working on a build, the patron arrives to inspect & first thing he says is “these walls aren’t siege proof.”
Indicates to me there is a problem with how sieges are done. Perhaps make trebs more expensive? Introduce proper siege ladders or battering rams as cheaper alternatives. Dismantle the treb-&-charge meta.

“Ad hominem,” the recently arrived monk-hopeful shrugs as his eyes flicker across this page, “although humorous for one Emperor to bleat of Exalted Horen’s virtue while making of the admonish-able actions of Harren son of Horen. Tis one thing to fall folly to Harren’s mistakes, human as we all are, but entirely hypocritical to chastise the other for failing also.”

Back when I was a wee lad, me n my mates rebelled from a city that 9 out of 10 ppl would say was owned by this one dude.
The enemies lose a warclaim, suddenly staff appear n tell us the guy everyone knows owns the city doesn't own the city, so we can't rebel.
Fun times.
