Russia Logistics and Supply Recruiters would be pushed to up their tactics and propaganda would display the glory of fighting for the Russian Army. The army would aim to enlist 1.2 million more men into the military and would spend the next year allowing them to train before they would be sent along the rail line to fight the Soviets in the East. The Duma would offer a contract to any company which researched different types of aircraft and produced feasible designs and prototype planes which could be used to provide support for the army. Industrialization efforts would continue, and the Duma would offer subsidies to companies which produced arms or goods for the military in a hope to increase production of the products. The Russian Railway System Funds would be sent to Warsaw in order to allow them to build a railroad network, and similar promises are made to Ukraine and Finland. The Duma cites the need to connect all of Russia together, starting with a comprehensive railway system they hope to create. New light and heavy armored trains would be commissioned for construction in Moscow and the surrounding industrial regions. Military Restructuring Following the losses in the east, Prime Minister Ilyin and Minister Brusilov would work together to restructure the Russian military. After the retreat, training would begin with both the new recruits and the existing soldiers, while high command divided the military into ten different armies and provided the leadership and a comprehensive plan to pursue during the war. The armies would be organized as follows: Marshall of the First Army Group: Aleksei Brusilov Army 1: Commanded by Lavr Kornilov Army 2: Commanded by Nikolai Ivanov Army 3: Commanded by Mikhail Diterikhs Marshall of the Second Army Group: Yakov Zhilinsky Army 4: Commanded by Paul von Rennenkampf Army 5: Commanded by Nikolai Ruzsky Army 6: Commanded by Andrei Zayonchkovski Marshall of the Third Army Group: Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich Army 7: Commanded by Aleksandr Samsonov Army 8: Commanded by Nikolai Yudenich Army 9: Commanded by Dmitry Shcherbachev Army 10: Commanded by Mikhail Alekseyev ACTIONS The military would aim to recruit an additional 1.2 million soldiers. Contracts are offered to any company who can produce a workable prototype for offensive aircraft. Subsidies are offered for companies which produced weaponry or goods for the war effort. Funding is granted to Poland to begin construction on their own railroad system. The military orders as many light and heavy armored trains as can be produced within their budget. The trains would be tested and trained with during the army’s recovery. [Please See Military Restructuring]

Russia Peace in the West Vladimir Purishkevich would announce a peace deal amongst the western and right-wing factions of the Russian Civil War. After a peace conference in Moscow which each nation, the Russian Union was formed and Poland, Ukraine, and Finland all were admitted as members in the Union, having much more autonomy than under the Tsar. Peace would be made with the north, where Tsar Nicholas II signed the original document, giving him the right to continue as a monarch without any executive or legislative power, but he is given the right to vote. The members of his government will be given the chance to be elected in the Russian Duma as elections will be held this year, and appointments will be made to the Russian Ministries. The Grand Assembly Following peace with the new autonomous states of Russia, the formation of the Russian Union led to a legislative body being formed to oversee the international affairs of the whole nation, and enforce the Constitution of the Union. How these men would be elected to the Grand Assembly would be determined by each nation, but all men must be given the right to vote at least indirectly for members of the Grand Assembly. In Russia, the one hundred senior members of the Russian Duma would be appointed to the Grand Assembly. The Ministries Vladimir Purishkevich and Ivan Ilyin would write out the purpose of several different Ministries in the new Russian government. They would act as commanders of different aspects of the country deemed too urgent or important to be handled by an entire committee. The firstmost created would be the Ministry of War, followed soon by Foreign Affairs, Education, Trade and Industry, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Justice, and Public Affairs. Ministry of War Led by Aleksei Brusilov Ministry of Foreign Affairs Led by Vladimir Kokovtsov Ministry of Education Led by Viktor Pepelyayev Ministry of Trade and Industry Led by Alexander Guchkov Ministry of Agriculture Led by Alexander Krivoshein Ministry of Infrastructure Led by Alexander Trepov Ministry of Justice Led by Ivan Goremykin Ministry of Internal Affairs Led by Pyotr Stolypin Industrial Efforts The Duma would promote entrepreneurship and industrialization throughout the new Union, citing the new protections granted by the Constitution as reasons no man should fear for his business to be unjustly lost. Not only this, but funds are attempted to be put into businesses producing weaponry for the Russian military. Minister Guchkov would be tasked would leading this push, as well as attempting to convince American investors to aid in the Russian economy. ACTIONS The Russian Union would be formed, and elections are held for the Russian Duma and Grand Assembly. 250 members are elected to the Duma, with 100 being elected equally amongst the Oblasts, and 150 being elected proportionally based on population. Those elected by each state equally are appointed as Russia’s delegates to the Grand Assembly. Several ministries are created and appointments made throughout Russian politics. (See Above for Specifics) Industrialization pushes continue, backed by the promise of equality and property rights with the new Constitution. Minister Guchkov also attempts to convince foreign investors to come to Russia, particularly in America.

Russia During the early months of the Civil War, Chairman Purishkevich seemed to disappear, rarely being seen outside of his office in the Duma’s temporary capital building in Moscow while Ivan Ilyin led the country and its military effort for the time. It was long rumored that he had shut himself in while working on the first draft of the Constitution, before bringing it to the entire Duma. By the end of the third month of the war, the Chairman would give a speech to the Duma as the new tricolor flag of Russia flew behind them. Today is a day for the people of Russia to not mourn for the loss of their country, and for some their identity. The Tsar fled his palace when the Duma arrived and put a declaration of rights on his desk, demanding his signature. The traitor Grigori Rasputin was found cowering under the bed of the young Prince he claims to have saved and is charged with treason due to reports of an affair with the Tsarina, a secret which is known by many and discussed by few, damaging the dignity of our great country. No longer. The Tsar denied his right to remain as the head of a constitutional monarchy and instead fled so he could keep power out of the hands of the people. In the east, the Soviet’s seek to overthrow all government, fighting for Marx’s ideas of a violent revolution but fail to see the greater threat that this division will bring to the country. When Russia is undefended the vultures will come to rip it apart, even more, so we must rise together as a country and end this division, fighting for the rights the Tsar and Soviets seek to take away from us. Nearly a decade ago we were promised rights, fair elections, and much more but they never came. Now they have, and will not be taken away from us. We will offer peace to the Tsarists, allowing Tsar Nicholas to sign the document and will admit his power as being derived from the Duma and thus the people. Any action he wishes to take will need to be voted on and approved by the Duma, finally allowing Russia to modernize. If Ukraine and Poland will accept, we will make peace and form a union of independent states, which would unite us on the international stage and ensure their protection from hostile powers. If all or most parties accept these offers, we will be able to focus our efforts on the enemies who seek to take the basic rights of man away violently, in favor of an anarchist and unprotected country. The Soviets. ACTION The Duma signs the Russian Constitution written by Purishkevich. It is modeled off of the American Constitution and the French Declaration of the Rights of Man of the Citizen. It guarantees basic rights as well as voting rights for women but does not protect communists or socialists. The Tsarists are offered peace on the grounds of the Tsar, or his son, signing the Constitution and relinquishing power to the Duma. Ukraine and Poland are offered peace on the grounds they create similar constitutions and join a Russian Union, uniting the countries internationally and ensuring their independence from hostile powers. They also must hand over Russian assets that have been taken, and allow the rest to be peacefully vacated. Other details could be discussed by the two powers. The reserves are called forth by the Duma while propaganda calls for volunteers who are ready to serve their country. The Duma declares neutrality in World War I Propaganda regarding the Soviet’s is soon widespread, showing the poverty of the communes.

The Russian Empire Storming the Winter Palace In a surprise move, Chairman Purishkevich ordered the Russian Army into the Winter Palace. Relying on the military influence of Ivan Ilyin and the hope that military soldiers and officers saw that the nationalists were removing an unfit ruler from power, the Duma would orchestrate a coup. The primary objective would be the capture of Rasputin and ensuring the safety of the royal family. The will of the Tsar aside, the Duma knew the true threat of Rasputin and would see to it he was removed from a position of influence. In this same day, they would bring a new Constitution to the Tsar, limiting his powers and providing a number of reforms. Should the Tsar refuse to sign the document his son Alexei would be offered the crown should he sign the document. Any dissenting officer or member of the Duma would be arrested immediately after this, and within hours Chairman Purishkevich had installed himself as the temporary Head of Government pending the introduction of the new Constitution. The rights brought about by the Industrial Revolution had failed to reach Russia, but the minds in charge of the Duma knew that for Russia to develop rapidly and significantly enough to match the western powers it had to bring about reforms unseen of in the history of the nation. The War Against the Left In a speech following the arrest of Rasputin, the Duma unilaterally denounces socialism and Marxism, claiming that if they were allowed into power they would destroy the progress Russia has made in the last decades. The nationalist and right-wing party would act together to push a bill through the Duma formally outlawing the Russian Social Democratic Party, the Labour Group, and the Progressist party. In a move to wipe out left-wing opposition, they would follow the passing of this bill with an immediate storming of the Duma, arresting all members who were not willing to give up on their now illegal parties. The RSDP would be the most heavily targeted immediately, with few being given the opportunity for reform due to their radical beliefs. The Labour Group would especially be pushed to join new parties on the right, as Chairman Purishkevich had promised the Nationalist Party would champion the rights of the working man. He made it clear that it was their belief that for Russia to succeed all men must have an equal opportunity to better themselves through work. This crackdown would not only be limited to the members of the Duma, but also known party members throughout Russia. Russia Abroad Following the removal of the Tsar from power and the Duma’s seizure of power, they would go out and speak to the world. Chairman Purishkevich stands in front of the Duma Building, calling for Russian citizens to stand vigilant for external threats, but to know that their government would not bring them into a war they were destined to die in. He promised this and much more, calling this the Russian Revolution, citing the French Revolution and later that led by Napoleon Bonaparte which saw the rise of one of the greatest empires in Europe. This would be achievable in Russia now, so long as the people would stand united behind the Duma and work towards the goal of industrialization and modernization by helping to spread education and pursuing business ventures. With this, the Russians could defend themselves from foreign powers, but for now they must hide behind the miles of nothing between Moscow and the border. The Mosin-Nagant Rifle Following the ridiculous proposition to create a semi-automatic rifle by the Tsar, despite obvious reports indicating the technology was decades off. Deputy Ilyin commisioned a project to use the research gathered by the Tsar’s project to improve the Mosin-Nagant of the Russian military, while also offering a long-term production contract to any company which could maximize efficiency in production and quality of the rifle. The Nationalist Reformation The Nationalist Reformation would be announced by both Chairman Purishkevich and Deputy Chairman Ilyin, the latter of which had been recently announced as the new leader of the Rightist Party ensuring the united position of the two parties. Under their leadership, the two men would each champion a separate aspect of this reformation. Vladimir Purishkevich would lead what would be known as the Societal Front while Ivan Ilyin headed the Military Front. Each front would work on improving aspects of Russia that most needed and combining the two to ensure a powerful future for the Russian Empire. The Societal Front Chairman Purishkevich would begin a reformation of the Russian Empire through the installation of a comprehensive and far more effective constitution. The Constitution of the Russian Empire would be written in unison by the remaining parties in the Duma, with the Nationalist and Rightist Parties taking the lead in its creation. The Constitution promised the protection of the natural rights of life, liberty, and property. Except under what could be considered a matter of “National Security” the rights of trial by jury and freedom of speech were also protected. The rights of the press were largely left unmolested as well, but there would be a clear line drawn about those who sympathized with the left. Chairman Purishkevich cited the examples of the men arrested during the Purge of the Duma as those who would not receive a trial by jury, due to their consideration as traitors to the Russian State. Gregori Rasputin would receive a trial by jury, as to prove to the Russian people and the Tsar the menace that he is to their society. The Military Front In addition to these new protections, new educational programmes would be created as well. The Youth Initiative would be designed to promote the growth of Russian boys into hardworking and strong men, learning to be proud of their country and military. This organization would even be connected to the military, with the members being brought to parades and military events so that they may see the strength of their country from a young age. This program would be focused largely in the cities, but advertisements would be circulated through rural Russia as yet another reason to move to the cities, promising the development of Russian boys into strong men. Ivan Ilyin would oversee the development of the Youth Initiative as well as a comprehensive overhaul of the Russian military to bring them more in line and securely operating according to the Mass Offense Doctrine. This change would be centered around using the large advantage in manpower Russia had, but he was not a foolish man. He knew that before this large pool of manpower could be utilized there had to be an increase in weapons production to properly arm a large military. ACTIONS Chairman Purishkevich commands an assault on the Winter Palace by the Russian military who is loyal to the Duma. The goal of this would be the safety of the Tsar and the Royal Family but also the arrest of Rasputin who would be treated without regard for the wishes of the Tsar. As soon as the palace is secured Purishkevich and Ilyin would enter the Palace amongst many of the members of the Duma who would present a Constitution limiting the powers of the monarchy and ensuring rights of the Russian people, for the Tsar to sign. Should he refuse his son would be offered the same, then his daughters. See later actions for what the Constitution covers. A coalition of right-wing parties would pass a law outlawing the Russian Social Democratic Party, the Labour Group, and the Progressist Party. Members of the most radical parties would be arrested without question, while those in the Labour Group party would be given the option to join different parties as portions of their beliefs would be passed in the coming months during this period of reform for Russia. The RSDP is most heavily targetted, including targets who also are not members of the Duma but known supporters as well. Chairman Purishkevich would compare their Revolution to that of the French Revolution and the time of Napoleon Bonaparte, calling for the Russian people to unite together as one country and change what those in the past had failed to change. He uses national rhetoric and the idea of supremacy to stir Russians into supporting this Revolution, and into pursuing education reforms and business enterprises. The research from the attempt to create a semi-automatic rifle is used to improve the quality and efficiency of production of the Mosin-Nagant rifle. Any company who achieves a high degree of success over the other competitors would be offered a long-term contract. Please read the whole section of The Nationalist Reformation, there might be some fluff in there but it outlines the Constitutional, military, and youth reforms pretty extensively which are very important to the success of this turn.

The Russian Empire The Winter Stand-Off Early into the second half of the year, Chairman Purishkevich and the high ranking members of the nationalist party meet secretly to discuss Rasputin and his influence on the Tsar. Despite initial responses showing that Tsar Nicholas was ready to oust the man, Rasputin still reigns strong in the Russian government and the Duma had taken a blow. The Chairman decides to take things down a far slower route. With such a large amount of time spent with the Tsar in general as they worked on policy and other matters of the state, the Chairman and his Deputy Ivan Ilyin would slowly poison the image of Rasputin, speaking down of him and making their distrust clear, they hoped to sway Tsar Nicholas to their side. The New Socialism Following socialist backlash to new nationalist policies, Tsar Nicholas and the Duma respond with a rebuttal to their claims, stating that the party took no part in the advancement of society, and that rather the nationalist’s were the people’s party, arguing for a strong and proud Russia who is united by its ethnicity, culture, and even to a certain degree, religion. This promotion of the ideals of nationalism would be shown as the new socialism, one which does not allow citizens to receive for free, but rather provides them with certain rights and privileges for simply being born Russian. Moving Past the Pitchfork In a hope to create a weapon which may stand up in a potential war or even revolution, a new semi-automatic rifle issued. The hope is to produce a cheap and effective rifle which could be manufactured for the military. The new weapon if deemed suitable would eventually become standard issue, but first, the industrial hurdles would have to be passed. Industrial Efforts Tsar Nicholas would again continue his efforts to promote entrepreneurship and industrialism, promoting the need for a strong military-industrial complex and a base to support the military. He calls upon the terror brought by the American Civil War in which millions of men died fighting for their country. This was only a civil war, and if a war should erupt in Europe those in St. Petersburg fear Russia and the rest of the continent would fair the same fate. Due to this, the nationalist propaganda is again promoted and a call is made for an industrial expansion to support a Russian military. If this could be a success, then in a future conflict the Russian people would never need to fear for their liberties. Training Exercises Alongside the Tsar’s renewed push for a military resurgence and reform, joint military operations begin outside of St. Petersburg between both the Russian Empire and the Kingdom of France. Military parades would be held once at the beginning and end of these exercises near the Winter Palace in order to promote the strength of the alliance between Russia and France. The Duma would also push strongly for the Russian officers to attempt to learn from the French as well, hoping their better experience could aid the Russian Army. ACTION The Duma would take a much slower approach to their influencing of the Tsar, and would continue to speak badly of Rasputin but in lighter terms. They hoped to sway his opinion but knew not to upset him, considering his strange affection for a peasant some secretly assumed he may not be entirely stable. Now with his idea of a “miracle”, the Chairman began to fear Nicholas may be putting too much faith into a higher being. Socialists are denounced and nationalists are touted to be the new bearer of their ideals. The nationalists support all Russians, promising equality for the poorest and wealthiest in Russia, promising one united country behind their culture. Unlike the socialists of the past, the nationalists hoped to work towards a strong state to protect from foreign threats while still protecting the rights of all Russians. Research is ordered into a semi-automatic rifle with the hope of a cheap and effective model to be mass produced. The military-industrial complex is promoted and Russians are called upon to begin businesses relating to their arms trade. The hope is to boost Russia’s industry while also ensuring that the country can protect herself and her people from foreign invasion, as well as potential internal conflicts which could harm the nation. Russia and France begin a joint training exercise outside of St. Petersburg, putting on occasional parades as a show of strength and to promote unity and nationalism. These events would be highly promoted and publicized.

Application Discord Name: j0k3rf1999#5738 Nation of Choice (and why?): Russia, as I hope to end communism in this FRP before it can ever become a major political ideology and spread to a large number of third world countries, thus preventing the mini-Dark Age they all faced during their time with communism. Nation’s historical background leading up to 1912 (Would like a paragraph + here giving a full account of your nation's state at the moment. Particularly important if you want to apply for one of the Greater Powers): Leading up to 1912, Russia had been in a relative state of prosperity. Following the complete failure that was the Russo-Japanese War, a brief revolution broke out led by the socialists and left-wing supporters. This would set the stage for the formation of the first Duma, the Russian Parliament. In disregard of this, Tsar Nicholas II still maintained the power of the monarchy and the Duma was nothing more than a place to discuss. He was determined to break up the communes and continue to expand and improve the Russian economy through industrial means, with the majority of the country still working in agriculture. Despite this, banks and rural cooperatives led to an impressive economic growth. Russian steel was on the rise, and the future seemed bright for Russians. The massive landmass of Russia presented an outward of an image of mightiness to Europe, and the Tzars ambitions to expand were endless, and a huge supply of manpower helped significantly. With the continued support of Serbia and it's independence and Plan 19 in place, it was clear this era of peace may not last for long, and Russia may need to use its resources and rising power to put an end to the threats in the West. Nation’s Government Type and Leader/Party; Tsar Nicholas II/Constitutional Monarchy Any special characters you made and want to introduce?; None as of now Nation’s relative army/navy statistics (If you can’t find any pm me); Standing Army: 1.5 million men Total Army Capacity: Reached 6 million in 1914, 12 million men total Navy: 10 Battleships (no dreadnoughts) 11 Cruisers 103 Destroyers 23 Torpedo Boats 35 Submersibles 30 Gunboats Did you read all the information?; Yes, California Suggestions or feedback?; If more people join Mexico should be playable, because of the Zimmerman Telegram. Other than that none, but I'm sure I will have some once we begin things, but not yet.

The Kingdom of France Louis the Inexperienced Following the unexpected death of the beloved and exalted Sun King and his heirs, the ascension of Louis XV left France to worry about how the nation would recover and maintain its dominance. Knowing his father had been a great ruler before him, the King vows to study his methods and continue his structure of leadership into the second half of the 18th century. With Voltaire’s book set to come out shortly, the King himself sent a request for an advance copy, and offered to pay a good sum for it. He also promised to purchase the final copy, but hoped to begin studying sooner. Should Voltaire accept (as expected) the King would hope to learn from his father’s style and continue the absolutist way of the Kingdom of France. The Sun King will be reborn in his son! [Mod for Louis’s knowledge] The Wench Madame de Pompadour was a sour topic to some in the court of the King, and this knowledge left him hoping for a way out after some time. He sought to establish his power as a beloved, yet feared King and in order to do this he needed to make his own decisions. Following a discussion on taxation, King Louis had reportedly threw the Madame out of the Council Chambers when she openly questioned his new policies. The next day she had been removed entirely from Versaille and reportedly sent to southern French to serve in the house of a nobleman or even directly overseas to the colonies.. [Mod for the Removal of Pompadour] La Marine Royale With the advancements of the British Navy, the King calls for advancements on France’s own fleets. Appointing three Admirals to oversee the repair and upgrade of existing ships, and construction of new ships to build up the fleet. An order for a new doctrine to use the speed of the French fleet to their advantage, while still hitting hard and sinking ships. The Council of Admirals would consist of Louis Jean Marie de Bourbon, Pierre André de Suffren, and Jacque Corneille. These three men (two of which are legendary and established Admirals, and the third is a man who showed immense promise in the Academy and was sent directly to the King for an assignment, considering his family name) would be expected to improve the navy and it’s doctrine within a few years to prepare for the potential colonial conflicts, with the hope of standing up for and protecting its territories unlike France has been capable before. [Mod for the Council of Admiral and the reforms] The French Army King Louis sends direct orders to the Military Academies and officers in the military to begin reforming their doctrine in a more professional manner, hoping to base their styles and tactics more off of the successful Prussian way. Expecting the Generals to be resistant to change, the King attempts to use his recent measures and unyielding style to push the leadership into reforming and turning the French Army into a much more professional and respectable force. [Mod for Army Reform] Taxation The King rearranges taxes, raising them for the clergymen while lowering them for the peasants and townspeople. He makes it clear that he will not allow the clergy to get away with their own taxation if the King is not compensated properly, and points to their lower taxes in the past as justification, as well as the unrest of the peasantry with their rising taxes. In addition to this, the nobility is invited to Versailles to discuss their own taxes. Continuing the practice of his father, King Louis makes it clear that the nobility is still expected to remain at the court in Versailles for much of the year. [Mod for new taxes and peasant opinion] Colonial France The French King calls for the expansion of colonies along the Mississippi, hoping to increase revenue by opening new trading posts and expanding their reach through the region, trading with the Indians and settlers alike. Furs would be considered of the highest value, but wood for ships would also be requested by the mainland. Finally, the King would decree that all goods exported from the colonies must first go to a port in France so that goods can be channeled through the proper countries prior to their rivals. [Mod for colonial improvement and expansion] The Kingdom of Prussia After a meeting with the Frederick II of Prussia, King Louis announces to his court his intention to continue their alliance in order to build and protect themselves from the mounting threats throughout the world. The Kingdom of Spain The Spanish monarchy is extended an invitation to come to Versailles to meet with the King and enjoy his palace. He hopes to create a new bond with the Bourbons in the south.

The United States of America The State of the Union On January 24, 1948, President Long issues yet another State of the Union speech, speaking of the last year, but also of the change of the nation over the course of the presidency. “Long before I held this position, the United States was a beacon of hope to the world, a democracy in a time of monarchies. But not truly free, slavery existed and there was a divide between the common and the wealthy. Things have changed since then. Slavery was ended during our first greatest challenge as a nation, the Civil War but organizations such as the KKK, and at the time the Democratic and Republican parties fought to prevent this. Since then, civil rights have begun to be achieved nationwide, regardless of race or sex. Workers still fight to be protected in some places but now Share the Wealth policies have begun to reach a number of corporations and businesses. Those who still do not respect their workforce, the backbone of their industry will see radical change come in years to come. Share the Wealth policies will be enacted into law whether by my own administration or the next President, forcing a check on the companies which seek to dominate our society, but one thing remains that still empowers them. Congress has long followed the word of the most powerful in America, first the political machines who dominated our cities and voting stations. Then came the monopolies until President Theodore Roosevelt oversaw the breaking down of those as well, seeing Standard Oil and the Northern Securities Company, amongst others broken apart to protect consumers. Now though, Congress is manipulated by the well-off behind the scenes. They seek to stop the Share the Wealth policies from becoming law and to keep the wealthy in their positions high above the rest of American society, but this is not what the country stands for, we fought British tyranny in the 18th century, and nearly a century later we fought the tyranny of the slavers while they fought the perceived tyranny of the federal government. The American struggle has been to prevent this tyranny from cropping up, and we largely have, but now it is rising in Congress. It is time for Americans to put a check on this and to call upon Congress to enact bills which protect and benefit them regardless of race, sex, economic position, or even where they are born. An American citizen is subject to the same rights and the government is here to protect them and maintain those rights and not stand idly by while they are taken away.” He continues for a brief period, railing on Congress’s slow speed and tendency to support the wealthy before returning to the core of his speech, the changes over the last year and his presidency. [Mod for support of Long and his policies and anti-Congressional sentiment] The End of the Long Presidency? After calling for a continuation of civil rights and the Share the Wealth policies, and nearing the end of the potentially final term in his Presidency, Huey Long pushes to cement his two most important policies. He pushes the Civil Rights Act and the Share the Wealth Act through Congress, demanding they protect workers and the rights of every American citizen, stating that if he should not be elected he expects a swift Republican turnaround of his policies. He accused even other Democrats of the same as if he were not to be renominated it is almost certain the Democrats would pick someone who would please the angered South. He calls upon the American people to fight against the wealth and entrenched establishment within Congress, who seek to rip the rights from the people and ensure wealth and power for themselves. The military has been neglected, minorities are written off as second-class citizens, and workers slowly being turned into the modern slaves, all under the policies of a Congress who does not care. [Mod for Share the Wealth and Civil Rights Acts, as well as anti-establishment support] Research The Chiefs of Staff order research into a new destroyer class, a new flagship aircraft carrier, and light tanks. Both of the ships would be private entities, while the new light tank would be offered to the Global Prosperity Pact as per the tech arrangement. [Mod for Gearings-Class destroyer, Forrestal-Class Aircraft Carrier, and the M41 Walker Bulldog] The United States would invest in radar technology, hoping to locate ships and planes long before they can reach US shores. [Mod for radar] More funding is put towards improving rocketry and getting more rockets into space, as well as the first satellite. [Mod for space tech research] The U.S. Navy The navy is ordered to begin building a new navy, centered around the four midway class cruisers with the massive new design as it’s flagship. It would be ordered to be built in the next three years, hoping to complete it by 1951. This new navy would supplement the Pacific Navy, operating directly out of the Pacific colonies and hopefully, new bases in Japan and other nations, including the recent acquisition of a base in German Timor. Requests to purchase basing rights are sent to Japan, Siam, and the Dutch. The navy would consist of the following ships: One Forrestal-Class Aircraft Carrier Four Midway-Class Aircraft Carriers (Already Built) Fifteen Iowa-Class Battleships Twenty-five Light Cruisers (1947) Twenty-five Heavy Cruisers (1947) Twenty-five Nuclear Powered Submarines Seventy-five Gato-Class Submarines 150 Fletcher-Class Destroyers The Anschluss In a speech given nearing the end of summer, President Long states that he believes the Anschluss could be legitimate. If the Austrians had voted properly and through democratic process as claimed, then they have the right to integrate with a country who may be able to protect them and provide for them better than any other. In fact, Panama had done the same years before with the United States in a peaceful, democratic annexation. President Long reminds Americans of the real threat in Europe, imperialists, who seek to control the world, not one who seeks to help people who wish to be its own rather than those who strive for freedom. [Mod for German support] The Campaign Trail President Long returns to the campaign trail, focusing his efforts on his popular base, targeting states and cities with large amounts of working-class Americans, as well as immigrants and African Americans. He would praise the Share the Wealth program, and speak of his dream to pursue equality throughout the United States. He hoped to integrate all races and people within the country indiscriminately, as well as aid in the development of the poorer parts of the country. Meanwhile, Secretary Patton and Vice President MacArthur return to the campaign trail, focusing on military men. They speak of the disparity of the Republican Party, and it’s negligence towards the military. For a long time, the Republicans had a chokehold on Congress and used it to neglect soldiers and veterans alike. The two former generals promise that Long’s America would be one where soldiers are respected and gifted for what they have done for the country, and announce a pension program which hopes to protect veterans from ever falling into poverty. The Veteran’s Security Act would be pushed as a means of protecting veterans with an already provided social security fund, secured via an honorable discharge in the military. MacArthur promises more support for all military men should President Long be re-elected but fears a future where Republicans will simply neglect America’s bravest men. The United States of America A Crumbling Presidency Following the scandals during the first months of the year, President Long had withdrawn from the public for a short time. Having spent his last years only working to better the lives of Americans, the shock and outrage of the mistakes made by his administration were deeply saddening. He publicly apologizes for where the money had gone from his investments, stating he tried to choose companies which treat workers properly and give them proper rights. He orders all investments that are still pending to be canceled and does not allow the second half of the investment out. Instead, he calls for a one billion dollar investment into the south, to industrialize it and improve its failing infrastructure. Congress would oversee the allocation of the money to ensure its fair dispersion, and the money would be used to reverse the effects of the Mexican incursion on the south. In continuation, President Long would order the temporary suspension of the open border policy to be placed under review in order to determine how great it will unsettle the status quo of America. He ends by stating he will not resign, and instead with continue to fight for the equality of all Americans until the day he is elected out by the democratic process. [Mod for southern investments and apology] The German Empire President Long takes a hard stance on Germany, calling their actions a threat to the fragile peace being built in the world. He calls for Americans to be cautious and wary, for there is a threat rising and all must be ready to face it. He calls for a strong stance from France and Britain, and that America will stand beside them through it. He states, “In a time like this it is not for democracies to be fighting amongst each other, but protecting each other from the threats of those who would destroy the world.” He speaks for over an hour, calling Americans to stand together against this threat. [Mod for anti-German sentiment and pro-Long support] Veterans Affairs Following the decrease in tension worldwide, President Long orders some of the funds going towards the war machine to be routed towards a similar cause, health care for veterans. The hope is with additional congressional funding and some resources routed from the previous war causes, the healthcare program can get off to a good start. [Mod for Veterans health care] The Republican Party As the campaign season begins to draw near, President Long begins campaigning for his fourth term in office. He intends to continue as President, citing Republican mishandling of foreign and domestic affairs throughout the 1930s. He says, “They would rather Russia and Germany dominate the world than aid democracy, the Republicans see America as an isolated haven for those who are lucky, but we are instead a beacon of hope for the world, one who must defend it from those nations who seek to subjugate it!” He continues for some time, reminding the country of the delicate position it is in and how Republicans or even one of the less progressive Democrats would ruin their progress in the last decade. African American rights would be swept under the carpet and forgotten, while veterans are again left uncared for by a party who oversaw the massacre of hundreds of them. The future of America lies in the hands of President Long, and those who seek to take control will give it back to the oligarchies and only one portion of the American people. [Mod for radical support for Long] The Congressional Wall President Long scoffs at the Congressional wall that had been built, calling their attempts to stop his reforms an affront to democracy. The Share the Wealth reforms ensured the rights of workers, and did nothing to provide gain to President Long or the entirety of the government, but was instead for the common man. He uses this to show how Congress is not there to support the people but themselves, using their power to help ruin presidents and to enforce their will, all backed by the money of corporations who seek to use the people for cheap labor. He calls for an American insurrection upon Congress for if they will hold Long responsible for a mistake during his presidency, the people should hold Congress responsible for their own corruption and long legacy of self-serving actions. [Mod for anti-Congress support] The National Space Program Following the German launch of a rocket into space and their growing strength, President Long emphasizes the need for an American space program hoping to grow popular support. He states that with this program the United States can show its supremacy over the imperialist nations, and prove the might of democracy to the world. He hopes to work past the explosion, and show that in order to reach success the United States needs to work through failures which will include potential explosions. Because of this he calls for NASA to put into place safety protocols to ensure no lives are lost during these tests. [Mod for space program support and safety protocols] Research NASA would use the new fuel research to continue their attempts at putting a rocket into space. [Mod for rocket into space] Satellite technology would get another investment, with a push to get one into space sooner to compete with the Germans. The United States of America Trouble in the South After a rise in tension between a number of foreign powers, President Long changed his mind on the aggressive policies America has taken in the last months. Following a summit in Cuba, President Long and President Gonzalez of Mexico discussed the escalating situation following the United States’ communist worries. Rather than forcibly subjugate the nation, the United States opted for a new plan. Rather than the American Union State which seems to be a far-off dream, the Long Administration hopes to form a defensive league in the continent, beginning with the announced non-aggression pact between the United States and Mexico which will last two years, as well as a new free trade and open borders agreement between the nations. The hope is for the brief period of havoc to recede into a period of peace and prosperity for the continent. Rumors of American foreign investments into Mexico also begin to grow. [Mod for American-Mexican relations and economic pact] The French After a year and a half standoff and rise of tension between the United States and the French Republic, President Long and President Vallat privately discussed a new agreement between the nations. To end the rising tensions in the world, a non-aggression pact and an economic agreement have been announced. Tariffs would be lowered on the civilian aeronautics and automobile producers of the United States. Meanwhile, in France, an agreement had been made to lower the tariff on wine and grain into the United States, while tariffs on automobiles and the aviation industry would be lowered into France. [Mod for tariffs and relations] The Long Investment President Long announces a massive investment into key American industries over the next year, pouring $1,000,000,000 into the economy. The massive investment would be split between six areas of the economy as listed below and would come in two parts at each six-year interval. [Mod for investments (half this turn half next)] $200,000,000 into NASA and related rocketry research. military-based research. $200,000,000 into the automobile industry, with the large portion of it being sent to Detroit based manufacturers. $200,000,000 into the steel industry, hoping to regain lost ground and promote the industry for a massive shipbuilding increase over the next few years. $100,000,000 into the agriculture industries (Early 1947). $100,000,000 into the lumber industries (Late 1947). $200,000,000 into the aviation and aeronautical industries, with 33% of it going towards civilian uses and research, and the remaining 67% towards Research and Development Using the recent investment into NASA, they would again attempt to shorten the amount of time it would take to put a rocket into space by investing the recent influx of cash into rocketry technology. [Mod for rocket tech] Cheaper and better fuel sources would also be researched, hoping to reduce the overall amount of fuel needed for missions to decrease the size and weight of rockets to make them more efficient and likely to travel farther. [Mod for fuel research] President Long would order design overhauls on light and heavy cruisers, opting for the Cleveland and Baltimore class designs, respectively. [Mod for light and heavy cruisers (two tech slots being used here)] The United States Military The military forces positioned on the Mexican border would be spread throughout the country, and the planes relocated to Texas were put in other stations throughout the country. President Long would order the military instead to begin widespread training, hoping to improve their efficiency, training in terrains similar to those of potential warzones. This includes hills, plains, training in Alaska, as well as training in the isolated expanses of the northwest. [Mod for training] Education President Long would continue the push for more college enrollees, hoping to increase the STEM majors in the country. In a speech, he says it is every man and woman’s duty to serve their country, whether on the battlefield or in the civilian industry. Those who major in a STEM field help their nation excel and thus the President calls for the people to rise to the challenge. [Mod for tech slot] The Share the Wealth Program In 1947, President Long decided to formalize his Share the Wealth tax cut incentives, by writing them into law. These policies would dictate how businesses could treat their employees, and what is required by law to be a fair and safe workplace for the working man. Thirty hour maximum work weeks, four weeks minimum vacation time for each worker, as well as a minimum wage, and old age pensions guaranteed through President Roosevelt’s social security program. The United States of America Communism in America On August 1, 1946, the Central Intelligence Agency released a report stating that a high number of countries in South America were at risk for communist revolts. The report outlined the chances and level of the populations who were communist supporters, potential communists, or radical socialists. The report lists most of the countries on the continent, with the exception of the British and French territories, Brazil, and Argentina. President Long spoke a day after its release, calling for an American intervention in the southern countries, starting with Mexico, who was included on the government report. [Mod for support of intervention in potentially communist southern American countries] Colonial America President Long issues a statement making clear that he does not intend to declare war upon or attempt to capture any of the European colonies in the Americas. His ambitions do not include war with Europe, which he believes is pointless and would result in a long and arduous conflict. He still hopes to maintain good relations with Canada. He reaffirms the American friendship with Canada and hopes that the current situation with Britain would not affect the relations between the United States and Canada, as they had established an independent friendship years before. [Mod for Canadian relations] The American Union State President Long outlines his new idea for the countries warned of potentially being communist. He hopes to create a new state, one federation between the different nations of the Americas. The American Union State would be a collection of the various democracies in the Americas and would be based out of a new capital in Panama. The plan would include massive infrastructure overhauls for all the nations involved, selective technology sharing to help begin to modernize their economies and countries, and free trade, to promote investment and a shared future. This would be a collective country, known as the American Union State, which would be helmed by a democratic system similar to the United States’ own system. President Long makes it clear under this, each nation would still have a degree of freedom, but the union would operate largely as one. One thing is made clear in his plan though, extremist groups, such as fascists and communists, would not be supported or allowed for entry. An invitation to this group is immediately extended to Brazil and Argentina. [Mod for American Union State support] The Egalitarian Kingfish Huey Long orders the broadcasting of a special radio speech throughout as much of the world as possible and hopes to reprint the issues and spread the speech far and wide. In this speech, President Long calls for equality for all in the world, showing how America has moved beyond its past, with all Americans being equal under the law, he believes that all other nations should adopt such policies too, as well as with colonies. He reminds the world of why America revolted in the first place, they demanded representation. The people of the world should be granted equal representation, and those countries who choose to do such are an enemy of their people. This speech would be circulated throughout the world and printed in a large number of languages. [Mod for an increased desire for freedom in parts of the world] Technological Developments NASA begins testing rocket designs in an effort to send the first rocket into space. They hope to finally breach the atmosphere. [Mod for space research] President Long grants North American Aviation funds to develop their proposed North American F-86 Sabre, which would be the United States first jet fighter. The Pacific Alliance would be granted this technology upon completion. [Mod for jet fighter] The United States commissions the designs for the Midway-Class Aircraft Carrier, also simultaneously commissioning the building of four of these new carriers. The Pacific Alliance would be granted this technology upon completion. [Mod for Midway-class carrier design and construction] American Spies The Director of the CIA apologizes to the Russians and agrees to remove their spies. Education The education push continues, with President Long calling for more enrollment in universities during this current year. He hopes the number of applicants will rise significantly, and that more people will pursue an education. [Mod for finishing the tech slot] Foreign Investments President Long encourages investments with the Holy Roman Dominions and following their admission into the Pacific Alliance the new tariffs are much lower than before. President Long pushes for a government investment into their modernizing industry, hoping to help bring them out of being an agricultural based society. [Mod for foreign investments in the HRD]

The United States of America The Pacific Alliance At 5:00 PM on the tenth of January in 1946, President Long announced the Pacific Alliance. The new alliance would mark a shift in the United States foreign relations, and after the split between the democracies of the world, and the unjust treatment from Britain and France the United States sought to strengthen relationships that improved upon the world. Japan, unlike many other nations in the world still shackled by Europe, had always had its own path uninhibited by foreign powers. President Long is said to have celebrated this and compares it to America's own revolution. Shortly after the signing of the treaty, the media was allowed to photograph the historic moment between President Long and Emperor Hirohito who came to Washington D.C. himself. President Long ended the affairs with an announcement of a planned visit to Japan. [Mod] A Shift to the East Following the failed Washington Conference, President Long formally withdrew from the Allied Treaty and ended all superfluous relations with Europe. Though embassies were maintained, most communications with France, Britain, and Germany would end and only basic communications with Italy as the host of its base, though the Holy Roman Dominions were largely snubbed. Though it is rumored President Long knows the park in Rome, he issues no public statement on it, nor would communications with the nations become more active until a President Long could meet with the nations and hear an apology for the American people. Instead, he turns to the west, expanding relations with the Japanese Empire and signing a treaty creating the Pacific Alliance. [Mod] The Union of Soviet Socialist States Following the debacle with the Washington Conference, President Long makes an even more surprising announcement. He states that the Soviet Union was the wrong choice to make an enemy of the United States, and had chosen their own path like the United States when it became a democracy in a world of monarchies. So long as the spread of communism by the Soviet Union ends, President Long states that the United States can turn within and fight communism on the homefront and defend from it on their own continent. He makes clear one thing, communism cannot be allowed to spread to the Americas. It is time for a democracy across both of the continents, ending the stains of dictatorships and corruption in the southern continent. Alongside this, the propaganda throughout America begins to change. Russia is no longer the Red Menace Americans should fear, but rather the strains of communism that have begun in Central and South America in the years since World War I. President Long calls for support for southern expansion and for the completion of an old dream, Manifest Destiny. [Mod] A Renewal of the Monroe Doctrine In another speech, President Long calls for a renewal of the Monroe Doctrine, stating that no nation in America should be subject to European subjugation. He swears to protect the people of the Americas from foreign intervention, but he also says that the other continents of the world deserve the chance for their own rights. He calls for a transition of power in the colonial parts of the world, in Africa and Asia to regional powers as well as self-determination. Why should European nations control Africa, when Ethiopia and other such nations deserve the chance to thrive on their own with aid, not subjugation. In Asia, he sees China and Japan as more suitable candidates for influencing and aiding nations, especially through investments, being much closer and more capable of properly improving and investing in the region, while European powers have been known to neglect their further ports. It is time for an end to the era of colonization, and to begin the era of self-determination, and countries who support their people, not only exploiting their resources. [Mod] Research and Development Three new research projects are ordered during the first half of 1946, as Secretary Parkhurst’s changes to education begin to take effect and increase the ability to develop new technology. The United States and the Japanese Empire work together to produce a new line of strike fighters for carriers and land-based missions. The strike fighters would be designed with jet engines, as well as being used for precision bombing via air-to-surface strikes. [Mod] NASA works to send a satellite into space, hoping to accelerate their space capabilities, hopefully taking the first pictures of Earth from space. The satellite, which would be dubbed Explorer 1. The satellite would be outfitted with cosmic ray detectors as their primary use, but they would also attempt to include a camera so pictures of space could be seen for the first time. [Mod] Research into a new anti-tank weapon begins. The goal is for it to be able to destroy the heavily armored T29 and other heavy tanks it could face. [Mod] The South A bill is passed on Congress allocating funds for the revitalization of infrastructure in the south, including road, railroad, and city funds. Share Our Wealth regulations would be enforced in these projects, as in all government agencies and programs. [Mod] Industry Congress votes on the end of the $5 per ton tariff with Britain, and instead, the deal begins anew with the Japanese Empire as part of their trade deal. In a hope to curtail the British aviation and industrial success, President Long initiates investments into the industries Britain succeeds at, hoping to regain the lost ground and allowing the United States to champion modern manufacturing. President Long also endorses the Kaizen Model, hoping that American businesses will adopt the model of continuous improvement, alongside the Share Our Wealth program. [Mod for new tariff, industrial investments, and Kaizen model] Higher Education The administration begins to push for an increase in enrollment at universities, stating that a nation which is learning and whose population has received a higher education are more likely to succeed and can help provide a better future for the country. He also calls for more minorities and women to enroll in these universities, hoping to increase the number of people in the STEM fields. [Mod for tech slot]

The United States of America Interventionism Following the renowned speech President Long gave, and the recent Washington Conference, he would speak in front of the people more frequently, and returned to the radio often. He warned them that the fight in Bulgaria is unlikely to just stay in Bulgaria, and rather that the Soviet Union would make efforts to spread their influence elsewhere. He calls on Americans to join the military and to defend their country and states that for the United States to ever truly be protected from the Soviet Union, we must be a formidable force on the ground, sea, and sky. Those not in the military must be vigilant, for Soviet spies could be anywhere and anyone. This new fear brought about by the Bulgarian revolution only worsened as rumors came out of China. President Long would beseech his people to unite as a country, to put aside their differences and unite to face the true enemy. President Long attempts to increase the volunteers within the military, opening it up with no cap to all who wish to join. [Mod Plz] He calls upon the American people to unite against their common threat, the Soviet Union, and to be willing to take action, true action, against them should the need arise. [Mod Plz] Industries are called upon to begin innovating and expanding, to begin preparing for a conflict and producing more war goods. President Long is reported to have stated, “Twenty years ago we had the great oil, banking, and car businessmen. Now it is time for new businessmen to arise, those who will be the best in the sky, the sea, and all of the Earth. American ingenuity must lead the way to a brighter future. One thing is made clear though, all companies who hope to produce and sell weaponry to the military must abide by Share Our Wealth working standards, and hire equally. [Mod Plz] The Military-Industrial Complex As the great American generals are called to Washington D.C. to begin discussions on how to proceed in Bulgaria, rumors begin to emerge of the potential of MacArthur being replaced as Vice President so he may serve as a general during any potential conflict. A number of important officials meet in the Munitions Building leftover from World War I, including Secretary Patton, General Eisenhower, General Bradley, General Marshall, and Admiral Nimitz. The men decide to promote enlistment into all branches of the military, and the military begins going on a recruitment drive. In addition to this, the military-industrial complex is promoted and General Marshall, the Chief of Staff to the Joint Chiefs begins working with the heads of the war industry to begin working more closely with the military. Finally, construction on the Pentagon is ordered following the recovery of the United States economy, as the Great Depression saw President Long suspend the project. It is hoped the building can be usable within a year, and completed by 1948. [Mod for recruitment push, the military-industrial complex, and the Pentagon Plz] The Washington Conference In October of 1945, the powers of the world met in Washington D.C. to discuss various issues, such as the Bulgarian Civil War. The United States, the French Republic, Great Britain, the Japanese Empire, China, and Germany determined how they would approach the situations throughout the world on the rise, and the ever pressing issue of communism. This conference led the way for President Long’s decision to call for America to be ready for a conflict, for as long as war continued on in Bulgaria, the Soviets were a threat upon the freedom of the United States and other free nations of the world. [Mod Plz] The Allied Treaty Shortly after the conclusion of the Washington Conference, President Long announced the Treaty of the Allied Powers outside of the White House, during simultaneous announcements in the French Republic and Great Britain. The treaty outlines their future relationship, with a continued model of economic friendship, mutual technological development, as well as certain measures to ensure the safety of all members from other great powers. President Long touts the treaty as the pathway to a brighter future for the world, one where all men are equal and free. [Mod Plz] Technological Feats Missile tech is again worked on, and an attempt is made to make a more accurate rocket which could go farther. The hope is that nuclear devices can also be attached to these rockets so the payload may be delivered without a plane. [Mod Plz] The T29 is requested to receive an overhaul and to be designed to be more efficient, except this time it specifies that it needs to be more invulnerable to anti-tank rifles, with an emphasis on protection. The hope is to counter new Russian weaponry. [Mod Plz] The National Aeronautics and Space Administration In June of 1945, President Long orders the creation of NASA, which will oversee the creation of an American space program. The hope is to send a man into space within the next five years, using the rocket technology currently being developed. From there a greater aspiration of the moon is made. They are given leniency in funding, and donations from the private sector are called for in order to promote the endeavor. [Mod Plz] Long Aid President Long sets up a system of financial aid for those who can not afford to go to a university. Depending on the household income, they would receive a certain portion of their tuition via the government, and the hope is also with private funds. The hope is to increase the number of people within the essential fields for the military and the government. [Mod for more tech slots Plz]

The United States of America Trouble in Alaska President Long, anxious and upset after the failure of the American-Japanese training exercise. He begins by stating that it is ridiculous for any American to point fingers at the Japanese, as both platoons went missing, not just one. The Pacific Fleet would have detected any Japanese ships in the area, which makes smuggling the Japanese out impossible. Instead of hating the Japanese, the country should again unite and look East and West where communism looms. He mentions that besides the fact that the weather in Alaska means they simply could have all been lost in a storm, the territory’s close proximity to Russia could point to other sources. Search parties are dispatched to find the men, or their bodies, as well as potential communist spies or bases which may have managed to sneak into the territory. President Long ends his speech with another reminder, “Every man is a King in America”. [Mod Plz] The Third Term Continuing on civil rights, President Long states that his acts do not apply to just African Americans, but rather to all Americans no matter where they come from. He reminds Americans that the Japanese are also united against the “Red Menace” and that all of the United States must stand together in order to defeat this great ideological threat. Regardless of race, or past events, all Americans must stand together as one against something which could threaten the very future of the country. With a growing threat in South America, he also suggests a possible intervention to ensure the future of the continent as the home of democracy should the situation worsen in Europe or here. [Mod Plz] The Long Programs President Long again pushes for an increase in engineering and sciences, investing a portion of the money from the recent sale into paying for the tuitions of the students who show promise and wish to enter into fields which could prove strategically useful. [Mod for more research slots Plz] Investment in the aviation and motor industries is also increased, pushing to improve their manufacturing methods and techniques. Investment is especially put into companies such as Boeing and Lockheed. Hoping to once again compete with Britain, the Long Administration seeks to begin funding the bright young minds of the future and continuing to innovate like the great tycoons did in the early 20th century. As more of the country joins in the Long initiative, corporate taxes are also slightly lowered, and subsidies offered for companies which can offer breakthrough designs and weaponry for the military and civilian sectors. [Mod Plz] Research and Development President Long orders two new types of armament and selects designs from companies for a new heavy tank and an upgraded rifle. The T29 Heavy Tank is selected and ordered for research, a new model which will be needed to stand up against the armor of nations with superior tech. [Mod Plz] Following minor improvements to the M1 Carbine, the Joint Chiefs of Staff order a selective-fire version of the weapon. They hope the be able to improve the efficiency of production, as well as making the weapon more effective. The upgrade would include as its main component, a selective-fire option, allowing the weapon to be fully automatic or semi-automatic. [Mod Plz] Rearmament The new Air Force is granted new airplanes, and an order for 5,000 new P-51 Mustangs to be built. Out of all that was ordered, 750 of these planes would be designated as carrier-variants and would be built as such. In addition to the fighters, 1,000 P-29 bombers are also ordered to be built. Upon completion, 500 of the new fighters and 50 of the new bombers would be sent to Naval Air Station Sigonella. [Mod Plz] Mexico Years after the Mexican oil expropriation, President Long reignites his concern with the country to their south. He calls them a hotbed for communist activity and cites their past support of Germany as a reason the country cannot be trusted. He has clear concerns with the country and fears the spread of the communism will reach them as well. [Mod Plz]

The United States of America The Rise of Communism President Long sat in the Oval Office one evening, penning a new Executive Order while awaiting the arrival of the Chief of the Minutemen. The Minutemen would begin to work closely with the CIA which would investigate the presence of potentially dangerous organizations in the US. These organizations would strictly be defined as, being of the communist variety, or those seeking to undermine and dismantle United States Constitution and what the country stands for. [Mod Plz] The United States Armed Forces Beginning in 1944, President Long began to issue massive overhauls to the United States Military. The Army was authorized to begin the admission of 600,000 new members. A portion of these would be officers, and this would be decided by the Secretary of the Army. The navy already was undergoing a revamp, and the new ships would require men to man them. Another expansion was soon ordered by the President. In addition to these expansions, he would formally establish the Air Force, as well as the Joint Chiefs of Staff in order to ensure cooperation between the three branches of the military. The Army Air Force would break off and form the basis of the new branch, but new positions are added. The JCS would work as a unified High Command for the military and would help to oversee the structure and formation of the air force, which would work closely with the army. [Mod Plz] The United States Army's max capacity would be expanded to 1,000,000 men, and equipment to outfit these men would be ordered. The M1 Carbine would be the standard issue weapon among the new recruits, and the M3 Medium Tank becomes standard in armored units. [Mod Plz] The Panama Navy would continue its expansion again, with 15 new battleships, 20 new heavy cruisers, and 30 new light cruisers would be ordered. [Mod Plz] New factories and shipyards would be opened in order to produce this equipment at a faster rate, as well as handing out production deals to certain companies. The new factories and shipyards opened would be located in regions throughout the US, many in the south, offering work to African American workers, as well as in the major cities, where they would hire from the halls run by the Democratic Machines. [Mod Plz] Testing President Long would order the United States Army Engineers Corps to prepare an area in the Death Valley region of Nevada. A bunker would be set up to test the work of the Manhattan Project, as well as recording the events to be viewed in Washington D.C. where President Long would host foreign dignitaries, and show the world the creation of the Allies. The top-secret test site would be checked numerous times before the test date, and numerous announcements were made to stay well clear of the area, with military patrols ensuring the test zone remain free of civilians. A fence is also constructed, and a small military outpost with suitable scientific equipment and research devices. The test is set for May 1, 1944, and the footage will be kept secret, with very little on the nature or quality of the test being revealed. [Mod Plz] Foreign Affairs President Long meets with the British Prime Minister in Washington D.C. again in the early portion of the year. They discuss America’s plan for the future, and he hopes to bring the country back out into the world during his third term. President Long ends his speech with the promise of American military bases opening up throughout the world, and intends for America to take a step outwards, in order to grow its economy. Finally, a new tariff at $5 a ton is decided upon between the two nations. Separate offers to meet in Washington D.C. would also be sent to the leadership of the HRD and the Japanese Empire. The United States of America The Campaign Trail As the election cycle begins to come around again, President Long returns to the campaign trail and makes something clear. He will not be following Presidential tradition, and instead states that in order to ensure the passage of the remainder of Share Our Wealth, and to ensure that the United States enters a future unbridled by the likes of the Republicans who seek only to return the nation to what it was. He embarks on the campaign trail, alongside MacArthur and Patton. Vice President MacArthur is also rumored to be testifying with the Attorney General about an important case President Long has begun advocating for earlier in the year. The men would travel the United States campaigning and meeting with various local populations within cities and various states, though with a much heavier tone than four years before. President Long finalizes his speech with full disclosure on the officers who were fired during the investigation and states that each of them had ties to communism or fascism, and many to the presidency of Herbert Hoover. He states that these investigations will continue, and they will branch out. Communism had infested the United States under the noses of the hard-working citizens of the country, and fascism had begun to grow as well. He would stop communism at all ends, and with the permission of the people and Congress, would ensure that it had not infiltrated the very government built to protect them from such ideologies. [Mod] Research and Development Radar and sonar technology are worked upon to improve the design of the new ships ordered by President Long. The hope is to improve the capabilities of the navy in these fields. [Mod] [Secret Research] A Call for Change President Long speaks in front of a crowd at the White House yet again, speaking angrily about a topic he is known to despise. The Republican Party would undo the great reforms to civil rights and would see the businesses returned to their former stature. President Long promises a referendum during the 1944 election, promising new tax breaks in return for accepting more Share Our Wealth reforms. Should the referendum succeed, President Long would see the bill passed into law. He reminds workers of the neglect and mishandling of the economy that led to the Great Depression over a decade before. He ends his speech with a reminder of the Bonus Massacre and states that after years of convincing his friend, Vice President MacArthur had agreed to testify on the incident, and based on the response of the Supreme Court there may be a trial. He ends his speech with his signature, “Every Man a King!” [Mod] Monroe Doctrine President Long returns from Sao Paolo after talks with the Brazilian Government and returns with promises of a healthy, beneficial relationship.
