  2. Under Review

    Pending!

On your explanation of the magic please entirely fill out each aspect of the magic. The lore itself is incredibly lengthy so putting a single paragraph does not show us that you really understand the magic. Give an overview of transfiguration as a whole, describe its purpose and appeal, and provide your subsect description with a thorough paragraph (at LEAST) on each piece of the magic. This includes Voidal feeling, abjuration, enchanting, alterations, and the details of each. Once you've done that please note some of the important redlines to each under each section and make a section for the magic-wide redlines, if applicable.

Overall just review your application and make it in a shape that says you know what you're doing and that you are good enough to be teaching others. As it stands now most of what you have is somewhat lackluster and gives the impression of quickly written or poor quality.

When everything is done, contact me via discord or forum messages!

  3. The setting was dim, a small cramped room with only a single lantern swinging overtop, manipulated by the air flowing in from a tiny window. On the bed an old 'ame rolled and churned in his nightmares and in a jolt he woke, his dead grey eyes staring into worlds beyond. In a revelation his mind was spinning and a sense of vertigo washed over him.

    "
She is blind... It happened almost too quickly. Perhaps it is time to guide her to truth"

The old man reached out into the space nearby only to draw forth an entirely obsidian Oculi, fashioned of material foreign to this world.

"May The Beyond be kind to this one, for she is ridden with curses enough." He'd revel in a short prayer before heaving himself out of bed and into the city streets.

    Preface:

    Spoiler

This rewrite has been long overdue and with the rewrite of Seer magic, it was appropriate that we also give some love to the Oculi. At the start they were in a really odd position due to their use being sort of overshadowed by other spells; however we have realized it can still occupy other space and allow us to further dive into the Lyes side of Seer magic.

With this rewrite all old Oculi may still exist, however only as a relic of the past. Their abilities and form are now lost to time and no longer inactive. In its place, Vaasek granted unto the Seers a new collection of Oculi molded in the shared form of him and Lyes. All new Oculi are to be distributed out to each individual cabal and user of the magic. Any active Seer (MA Bearing exclusively) who already possesses an Oculi will be granted a new one, the remainder of the Oculi can distributed down from the leaders of each Cabal. (Cloaked, Zach, Zarsies each receive the remainder of them divided by three.)

Credits go to really all of Seer chat, but most importantly @Olandyrand @Zarsiesand of course @Sorcerio for his original write up of the item.

MC Item description (the exact description that will be used for the MC item if this MArt is accepted):

A dull orb entirely composed of a solid black glass-like material by default. While in this form, looking upon the item would afflict any onlooker with a sense of anxiety. This sensation would urge them to pry their eyes away from such an item…

This item is an entirely black orb; however, it is able to be ultimately controlled by a slotted seer with it in their grasp. Its shape may exceed nothing larger than a cubic foot of space and may not be smaller than an amulet the size of one's palm. Each of the blessed Seers are able to shift its appearance according to their own choice.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

Firstly, the artifact in hand may be altered to fit into a shape and scheme desired by the seer who holds. The largest the Oculi's form may be is the volume of a cubic foot. Its smallest form can be an amulet the size of one's palm. This appearance is entirely up to the decision of the seer and may afflict any onlooker with emotions appropriate to its related casting aesthetic. While a mystic seer may choose to have it appear as an almost ethereal lantern and afflict a sense of apathy, a canonist may choose to have it manifest as a torch which inspires courage.

The Oculi will always have some sort of tell as to the fact that it is otherworldly. Within its confines is a bound Witness that the Seer is fully unaware of, and thus the will of Vaasek is upon it. The magical aspect of it that manifests falls in line with the selected seers casting aesthetic. Much like how it is required to appear entirely and obviously magical, when in use the Oculi will appear the same. Its form may glisten or become more ethereal, yet it will always have a definitive and real shape. Its strength is no stronger than hardened steel and the orb may be shattered with three solid hits from a blunt weapon.

    Redlines

    Spoiler

    - The Oculi may not get any larger than a cubic foot; furthermore it cannot be any smaller than a palm-sized amulet.

-The aesthetic of the Oculi is moldable and therefore custom to each seer, of which they must appropriately emote each time it is used.

-The appearance of the Oculi follows the Casting Aesthetic section of Seer lore and must abide by the same rules. This means it is required to appear obviously magical when inspected closely or while in use.

-The durability of the Oculi in any form is equal to hardened steel. After three direct strikes of a blunt weapon, the oculi will be shattered and cannot return unless otherwise facilitated by the ST of their own accord.
-Finally, the Oculi is purely non-combative and cannot form sharp edges or be used as a blunt weapon. If one was to take the shape of any weapon it's only use would be purely ceremonial and at best it would be entirely dull.

Aside from Its physical form and ability to be altered, the Oculi is also bolstered with the presence of another witness from Vaasek. There are two primary advantages to this.

Firstly, each Oculi may be molded into any type of reflective communication device over the course of two emotes. On the third it will allow one to open a portal of communication with any other Oculi on demand. After the minimum of [3] emotes the Seer may communicate with one another, much like a two directional bird. This will allow the Seer on the other side to see into the nearby world of the Oculi, and vice versa for the communicating Seer. Through this the Seer is able to speak and interact as freely as they desire, however they must be entirely alone and in a private location to do so. This cannot be done with anyone else that is a non-seer who is knowingly present in the area. Any non-seers who attempt to look into the orb while communication is afoot will be met with a muffled and befuddled conversation.

Secondly, the Oculi allows a Seer to enhance their ability to use Dreamstride on others. While enhanced by use of the Oculi, a seer is able to partially physically manifest at the location of the target, using their Invisible Hands of God to influence the area around the target. This also extends that the Seer may leave a lingering smell or physical effect upon the immediate area of the sleeping target. This includes any type of smell that could be abrasive to being able to manifest mud, filth, dirt, snow, or otherwise minorly aesthetic materials. Another major advantage is that the Seer may teach their target of previously unknown magica much like in normal teachings, yet they are able to disguise it however they design in the dreams of the target. In any case, these dreams come across as incredibly vivid and nearly flawless. The last advantage of being able to manifest physically near the target is that any required physical interaction of teaching can be done via the witness. This, for example, would allow a TA-bearing Seer to transform a feat seer into a slotted one via the proper ritual. They would somehow incorporate this into a dream of their design.

It is through this advanced used of teaching that Seers may afflict others with their magic whilst still being unknown to them. An example of this is if a Seer wanted the unintentional influence of Vaasek to spread inside of another community, then they could foster that with a chosen target. This is especially potent on those who are feat-level Seers. If this route is chosen upon, satisfactory IRP lessons must be provided via these dreams, including the use and shortfalls of all magic spread this way. The only difference being that instead of reality the Seer can more aptly adjust these fake narrative dreams to fit into the lesson better, allowing for a better understanding of their student. They are also still required to OOCly clarify any and all use of the magic with their student just like normal and will be responsible if the student is improperly taught, just like any normal path of teaching. The only sort of magic that may be spread through these means is Seer, however, as Vaasek's design only allows his influence to spread and none others.

    Spoiler

-The communication aspect of an Oculi is a freeform ritual and cannot be done while imprisoned or in combat. It must also be done in privacy away from any prying eyes and should the seer become aware of a non-seer who is watching, the rite will end immediately.

    - Doing any sort of communication with the Oculi requires 3 emotes minimum, the same standard as using a bird.
-Any non-seer who attempts to eavesdrop on a seer’s communication will only hear a muffled and totally obscured conversation coming from the Oculi, yet will hear the present Seer as clearly as they could normally.
-The enhanced effects of Dreamstride are entirely non-combative.
-Any physical alterations made to the surroundings of the target are entirely non-combative and cannot injure the target.
-Any magic taught via this method must be done at standards beyond normal teaching and OOC oversight is not usable via this method.
-One may only teach their target in a traditional method through the use of interactive dreams. These dreams can pose as anything the Seer wishes to portray, but they will be incredibly vivid to the student.
-Any magic taught follows all normal guidelines of teaching, but is essentially done in a fully unique dreamworld designed by the teacher. Any physical contact required for teaching can be done via the invisible hands.
-Further dreamstrinding requires explicit OOC consent before it takes place and that may be taken away at any time. This needs to be explained each time the Seer makes first contact with their student.
-The only magic that can be taught using this advanced Dreamstride is Seer. Vaasek seeks only to spread his ploy and none others.

Finally, the last piece of the Oculi is with Vaasek’s direct influence. Should he see that the Oculi has not been actively used within two months time, it can be summoned by another cabal with the use of two [2] slot seers. This ritual is freeform and the Oculi will manifest in its default state. Additionally, should the majority of the Oculi be brought together [7 or more] then a prophecy may be shaken loose and granted unto the participants. This prophecy given unto the Seers is generally non-specific and refers to largescale events taking place in the world. An example of this could be information relative to the world ending event, or perhaps a major eventline going on in the world. Ultimately this is freeform to the ST Management and allows for any ST to involved Seers into the eventline more, or less, if they desire.

    Spoiler

-Any seer who is inactive for more than two month's time and has an Oculi is at risk of having it taken, should two other 2 slot seers do a freeform ritual to receive it. They will not know who it is as the Oculi will revert back to its default shape. That being said, if there are extranuous situations in which a person is involuntarily inactive, then they would be immune to this. This is such things like long term military deployment, relocation, etc. This is a case by case basis and ultimately they can give up their Oculi should they wish. Otherwise every case of recall requires ST Management oversight to be done.

-If 7 or more Oculi are brought together, they may shake loose a prophecy of the future. This is at the design of the ST Management and facilitated fully by them. These prophecies are entirely to their design but generally regard something massive happening in the world that they seek to have the Seers involved in one way or another. Vaasek himself may have some influence in their vision or even the perception of such a thing.
-Both recalling an inactive Oculi and getting a prophecy requires the explicit oversight of ST Management who are familiar with all lore involved. Additionally all changes to the status of the Oculi need to be consistently logged on the MArt page.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

The Oculi's are items directly gifted to those slotted Seers by Vaasek, typically drawn forth by a ritual or granted to them in the presence of a strange dream. The purpose behind them serves a handful of functions, but most importantly it allows cabals of Seers to communicate in privacy via the Oculi. Additionally, this allows the Seer to have an increased degree of control over those who dream, a power Vaasek recently seized from Lyes. With this piracy of her power he further reformed all Oculi and allowed them to fit into each and every Seers own idea.

By default Vaasek pays tribute to the Oculi of old, causing them to appear as an entirely black orb that afflicts unease onto onlooks. Much like the Oculi of old too, when brought together the Oculi are capable of unravelling a prophecy from the cosmos and additionally the Oculi may be taken from the Seers who hold onto such an object for too long, allowing them to be in continual use.
