He learned how to stay hidden from guards when he was young, a skill that would prove useful later in his life when he turned to the woods. After spending years evading pesky merchants attempting to stop him from feeding himself, he stole a bow, a few arrows, and decided to try to make it on his own in the woods. In his teenage years, he stuck to this lifestyle. He hunted in the woods of the North, and took his prey to the cities to sell. He did not pay much attention to the wars or politics of the world, all he cared about was his woods and his prey. While he wandered the woods of Athera, he ran into an Uruk, both of whom claimed to have caught the same rabbit. A fight ensued, where Gawain lost his left eye, and the Uruk had several ligaments in it's left leg town out by Gawain's knife. In the end, they became acquaintances, and parted ways after patching each other up. When he was Twenty Three, Gawain was in a deep argument with a merchant over the true price of one of his deer-skins when he noticed a flyer calling for men of the woods to join a new ranger guild, calling themselves "The Eagle's Watch". After having spent most of his life on his own, on the run, he decided that maybe it would be best to band with other individuals whom shared the same interests as him.
