Why are there so many pale skinned, light haired and lanky 'Wood Elves'?

People come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Even though they are a wood elf doesn't necessarily mean they have to look like the stereotypical wood elf. My character looks like a high elf but he likes to call himself just an elf. Iunno.

Maybe they are aegisian elves. Not all elves follow the recanonized anthos wood elves. And they are in their right to do so. Elf subraces are weird.
