What is roleplaying?: Roleplaying is creating a character to tell a story with other people who are also using characters they've made. It's people working together to weave one giant tale! What is metagaming?: Metagaming is the use of information gained outside of roleplay, or by using knowledge your character wouldn't ordinarily have to give yourself or your friends an advantage. What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Power-emoting, or powergaming is the use of an unrealistic and unobtainable skill in order to try and get what you want in roleplay. It's an unfair advantage that can't be defended against. In-Character Information Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play. Born in 1595, in the ashes of the Empire's downfall, Lorena and her family were displaced when the city was ruined. With nowhere to go, and a very young child to care for, her parents became destitute and relied heavily upon charity and pure luck to see them by each day. It wasn't long before they realized that the burden of raising a young girl on nothing was far to much, and so they left Lorena with a church to be raised as a foundling. With the war sprouting between Courland and Haense, Lorena had no lack of examples of hatred and devilry. She used these to bolster her heart against such things, because her desire was to be of use to the church in some way. A natural-seeming sweetness hid her underlying insecurity. Having been abandoned once, she knew if she wasn't productive or careful she could be set out again. As she was aging, there would be no objections or anyone to help a hearty girl of working age on the streets. She'd bee seen, once again, as a burden and not worth the time to help. When all seemed to be peaceful again, and men's hearts turned from battle to hearth and home, there was less need for her comforting voice in the church. She left with what little charity they could spare, and set out to find her own way and home. She wanted to avoid the fighting in Lorraine-Savoy lands, but how could she? Knowing what she did of easing the echos of war ringing through a man's mind? Character’s name: Lorena Bradley Character’s sex: Female Character’s race: Human Character’s age: 18 Biography (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add three references to the server lore): Personality Traits: Lorena has an affinity for art, but is such a poor artist she's been asked to avoid doodling and spare paper for those better equipped to use it. She adores colorful art and church iconography and makes it a habit to visit any local parish that may harbor some obscure piece of work. She detests war and battle, but understands she can't stop it and that her safety often depends on men who are willing to take up arms. Ambitions: Having grown up in the church, she had a great example of piety and the pretty, outward face of godly people. While perhaps she's too naive to know inner church workings, she maintains that the men of God mustn't be THAT bad. She wishes to serve them as she can, whether as a nun or a simple servant. Either way, she figures sticking to what she knows is best. Strengths/Talents: Empathy, Piety, Obedience Weaknesses/Inabilities: Naivety, Insecurity, Prejudice Appearance: Her hair is too ashy blonde to be considered beautiful rather than handsome, and her eyes are deep-set but wide. Her overall appearance is thin and pale, denoting someone who spends most of their time indoors and could perhaps have a poor constitution.
