  1. Crossbows were specifically employed to pierce through contemporary plate armor. That was part of why they were banned in 1096.
  2. As someone who practices archery, I’d just like to point out that the people using those bows are not only not doing a full draw, but they are using improper techniques for doing so. I don’t recall the last time I saw someone use four fingers to draw an arrow. On top of this, they're using the wrong type of arrowhead (not ones designed for penetrating armor, which were used), and bows with draw weights that are most likely between 70 to 160 pounds lighter than historical war bows. Also that plate of armor looks to be stamped steel made out of modern rolled steel, which is uniform and does not have its thickness distributed so the most is at the front and the thinnest at the sides.
  3. Dungeons & Dragons is High Fantasy and yet they have firearms, taking nothing away from the genre it’s adhered to for nearly 50 years.
  4. This. Also, reminder: D&D has firearms. Doesn’t make it any less magical nor any less of a fantasy.
  5. This can be achieved by introducing matchlocks, maybe flintlocks, and restricting the tech progression so Rifling is not developed in the setting.
  6. Could always steer away from flintlocks and have matchlocks instead.
  7. Cannons and a prototype dwarven Hakenbüchse existed in Aegis, so I don’t see why they couldn’t still exist. All you have to do is prohibit rifling with the techlock and you’ll be golden.
  8. I’ve no issue with this so long as it filters out modern-day slurs that have no place being said IC and are unacceptable by community standards OOC. However, the inability for such systems to take context into consideration is very concerning.
  9. It took @argonian’s comment for me to realize this was satire. I genuinely bought into it and saw nothing unusual about the region names.
  10. I think the closest I’ve come to experiencing dyslexia is trying to read ancient elven around these parts.

  11. Is there a source for the symbols in their real world iteration or are you coming up with your own designs / adapting some fictional ones for the purpose of the lore rewrite? I ask because I’ve been researching alchemy for a little while and I can’t say I recognize them.
  12. That sad moment when the new username I want is not allowed due to the presence of a space between two words.

  13. Low Fantasy, Dark Fantasy or High Fantasy?
  14. You’re going to want to do some research into what was around in the past. I mentioned it a moment ago in someone’s status update, but things like steam engines, cannons and even a prototype arquebus (made by a dwarf whose name I don’t recall anymore) existed in LotC’s 14th century (Aegis). Since then there has been a constant back and forth depending on who’s been at the top and what their vision for the canon and technology locks was. I think the top priority should be consistency with pre-established canon – this is, what has been allowed and role-played in the past and therefore cemented into the history of lord of the craft’s universe – with your future vision for the setting(s) of the server being second in the design process you will undertake.
  15. I'm a little disappointed that one would be forced to remain part of a larger pack after being turned. It would be interesting to expand the lore so it's possible to become an outcast but have some kind of added affliction/downside as a result, to function in such a way that one is then forced to be solitary and isolated from the pact in order to survive or to keep this added curse from consuming them from within. I would gladly do a contribution in this regard, but it's not my submission and I'm not familiarized with how these go, so... I guess that's that.
