    2. Which one of your characters has been your favorite to play and why?

    3. What has been your favorite Eventline that you’ve either interacted with or helped run and why?

    4. If you could have dinner with any player on LOTC, who would it be?

  2. Natalie Julia was sitting at the window of her rather empty abode, doodling a sketch of the city below when the bright beam of light burst towards the sky, the beam being far too close for comfort for many, yet the young woman quickly turned towards the towering pillar, looking on in awe. “How beautiful. I’ve never seen such a thing.” At that the girl quickly flipped to a new page in her journal, beginning to sketch the beam of light the best she could. “I suppose someone in the city is hard at work.” She’d comment to herself, assuming the beam of light was a simple side effect of some sort of magic.

    Name:

    Natalie Beaumont

    Age:

    Twenty-Two

    Heritage:

Born on the streets, adopted child of House Kovachev

    Affinities:

    Housemagery

    Basic Herbal and Alchemical knowledge

Court Alchemist of the Orenian Empire

(OOC: For Clarification, the character does not have an Alchemy FA, but knows the basics of how it works)

  4. Natalie Beaumont reads the missive over before neatly placing it in the drawer of her desk. “Neither of these idiots are fit to hold any position. If you behave like this the only thing you’re a rightful heir to is family stupidity.” She commented to a painting of her mother like she was having a conversation with the object. “Perhaps it would be best if they both died in this duel...”

  5. Natalie Julia Beaumont sits the missive down on the desk in her bedroom, allowing a soft huff to escape from her lips. "Requiring those of lower birth to wear basic Jewelry? Well that just won't be happening..." She'd hum to herself as she looked over her multiple sets of exquisite jewelry. "I need... Emeralds and Rubies.... Those will be next."

  6. I don't really have a "spook" character, so I guess I might not be the target audience of this post, but I'm still responding... I have been active on the server for roughly a year now(maybe I'll escape on day) and I've had very few interactions with any Dark Mages or undead. I didn't even realize they existed until I had been on the server for months. Since I started a new character in March I've been lucky enough to see them more often and have some interactions which I've thoroughly enjoyed, but it still isn't too often. From everything I've seen I believe the main enemy of people trying to play Dark Mages and undead or just Antagonists in general is Metagamers.

We all know there are those types of players who seem to froth at the mouth at the simple thought of being able to metagame an antagonist. It's hard for someone to be able to do antagonistic RP when the person they attack, kill, torture, drain, sacrifice, etc ends up telling every one of their friends about it OOCly. It's way too common that you have someone "randomly" show up at the cite of RP when they have no reason to be there. A lot of people can't handle RP not going their way and it goes unpunished so often that they think it's okay when it isn't.

If Metagamers were actually punished then perhaps it would be better, but the rarely receive punishment. 99% of the time when you make a report of metagaming to moderation it falls solely on your shoulders to be able to prove there was metagaming beyond a reasonable doubt, which is HARD. If moderation were more open to looking into logs and performing investigations to help reporters have enough evidence then perhaps it would get better, but right now the majority of metagamers are walking away without any punishment and going on to do the exact same thing a month later.

  7. Your application was only accepted a few days ago. Instead of hunting for magic you should spend time finding a community you enjoy RPing in and make friends both OOCly and IRPly. Everything comes with time, eventually, if you provide good Roleplay, you will end up with magic, but it takes work. Asking/begging for magic OOCly is a big “No-No” in a lot of magic groups so you should really avoid it.

Also magic should really be a way to add some flavor to your RP, if you feel you need magic in order to have fun Roleplay then I’d really recommend you spend more time without it till you change that opinion.

  8. I really love this post and the take, but I want to put forth another perspective that I’ve seen while working with now players, and just playing myself.

There are main characters in certain areas, you just don’t start out as a “main character” in some big group, you earn it through dedication both IRP and OOC. The people who tend to be in the forefront of events and RP taking place are usually people who have dedicated years to the server and earned the trust of people to reach that position. And even with these people being “in the forefront”, not all the RP revolves around them. Let’s say for example, you play a human maid in the Augustine Palace(“royal” palace of Oren, one of the biggest nations). You might not feel like the main character because the people playing Princes and Princesses are getting more attention, but that attention is earned, and you are still getting RP as well, you just aren’t the center of the RP.

Not everyone needs to be the “main character” or antagonist, and most new players learn that after a few months. A lot of times being the person who isn’t noticed in a room can actually provide a much more interesting outlook on RP and lead to amazing chances for development.

  9. The Augustine Tutoring Program

Due to the recent re-establishing of the Imperial Palace Courts by Her Imperial Highness, The Countess of Renzfeld, the Augustine Tutoring Program has been revitalized in order to provide proper education to the children and young adults of the court. After relentless work from Her Excellency, Lady Elisabeth Leopoldine Krüger-Carrion  and The Honorable, Miss Natalie Julia Beaumont we are happy to announce the opening of the Augustine Imperial Tutoring Program.

The tutors are to educate the children of the court in everything from reading to Imperial History, making sure to provide all the children with a well rounded education. As the children begin to enter young adulthood the imperial tutors will be tasked with either taking the young adults under their wings in more advanced fields such as the arts or science, or find proper mentors for the young ladies and lord of court. The Augustine Tutors will also work to integrate the children into Imperial Society, hosting educational events and field trips for the children to help them develop friendships and learn about other cultures.

They shall keep order within the Augustine Tutoring program and ensure that any other students within the program receive a proper education. The Head Tutor will also work to plan educational events and field trips with her fellow tutors to assist in integrating the young into Imperial Society.

  10. When you create most of your characters do you have a plan for them at the start or do you usually just go with the flow?

What has been your favorite event to take part in(either a big ST event or an event that was really important to one of your characters)?

  11. The news of Emerentia’s passing would’ve been delivered to Natalie Julia at her new estate by a young delivery boy who seemed rather nervous to hand the woman the letter. As soon as Natalie took the letter the poor boy would’ve received a slamming of the door to his face, the young lady then turned to look over her house which was in the midst of a remodeling. “WHYY!!! WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO DIE!” She’d shout into the empty house, tears already beginning to form in the corners of her eyes, her whole body beginning to ache.

After the much needed scream she’d take a deep breath, quickly moving towards a stray sledgehammer, picking it up and setting off towards one of the many stone busts which decorated the beautiful estate. Natalie would then look the statue straight in the eyes before lifting the sledgehammer in the air and sending it flying down towards the top of the bust. SLAM! Over and over again she’d swing the hammer down on the statue, tears now streaming down her cheeks and she destroyed the bust. “It’s too early…”

When Natalie’s bout of destruction finally subsided only small bits of rubble would be left scattered across the ground. “It’s too early.”  She’d repeat again as she fell to her knees, rocking herself back and forth as her wails filled the halls of the estate. “It’s too early! Blanche isn’t even five. . . Renée isn’t back yet. . . Francine hasn’t had her social season. . . She can’t walk me down the aisle.”  She’d go through everything that her mother would miss, her cries only growing louder with each thing listed.

After lying on the floor for what felt like hours Natalie would finally lift herself from the ground, her hair an unkempt mess, her makeup smeared across her face, ruined by the constant flow of tears. She’d then move through the house towards the kitchen, scanning the liquor cabinet before finally removing a bottle of vodka from a shelf, biting down on  the cork, yanking it out of the bottle, then spitting it on the ground. The lady then pressed the opening of the bottle straight to her lips, taking a large, excruciating gulp.

She continued to periodically take much smaller sips as she walked around her house, ripping paintings off the walls as she went along, throwing them onto the floor and slamming her foot into each one. After making her way through almost the entire house she finally sat the bottle of vodka down, knowing she’d reached her limit. If it wasn’t for the voice of her dear friend Brandt in her head telling her not to drink too much she probably would’ve died by drowning her body in liquor.

  12. Natalie Julia sunk into her chair upon being informed of the news by a delivery boy and being handed the letter. "We aren't even given time to breathe." She'd grunt out as she took hold of the bottle of whiskey which had come to remain at her desk over the last year, pouring herself a glass. She'd surely need it. Having she'd just arrived home from hearing the verdict of the House of Lords. A man she respected being stripped of his titles already didn't sit well with her, now this.

"My GOD that poor family." She'd whisper to herself as she read over the letter, idly sipping at he glass, despite not knowing Lady Anna well she still grieved the woman's departure. "Oh ****... I hope Brandt is okay." Her close friend quickly popped into her mind, knowing the closeness between him and the Lady Anna. The thought of one of her closest friends being upset by the ordeal seemed to hurt Natalie more than her thoughts of the family who's now lost both parents.

  13. “Accusations and spreading rumors will only make things worse.” Natalie Julia would mumble as she read yet another paper involving the Carrington conflict, adding it to the collection on her desk which seemed to be stacked a mile high. “This needs to be resolved in a civil manner.”

  14. Natalie Julia reads over the paper while walking around her newly purchased home, allowing a loud huff to escape her lips followed by a shake of her head.  "It is quite extreme to disown Simon because of something that isn't their fault. There must be more to the story, but I assume Wilhelm and Lady Anna have a good reason."  She'd comment to one of the many paintings that belonged to the previous owner of the estate, making a mental note to replace it before moving on with her walkthrough. "And it is just a name. Names mean nothing if you are willing to put in the work to get somewhere."  She'd hum as she gave a flick to the forehead of a stone bust, wondering what she will replace it with.
