Baconthief 682 Share Posted November 18, 2014 As recorded by Dak’res Des’Nox, compiled and augmented from the original writings of Thalac’senger. The Law is the way of the societally-accepted Ker warriors (Sil), a set of rules which encourage honesty, loyalty to one’s kin and lord, strength, and honour to the death. It establishes the warriors of the government as a societal class of their own, a middle ground between the general populace and the Lords who lead. In return for this advanced status within the community, however, the warriors who bear it must swear a stalwart oath to uphold its tenets, which are extensive. They may be perused below Treatment of Enemies A Sil of the Code will never disgrace the body of an enemy who fell or surrendered during honourable combat; only traitors, oathbreakers, and cowards are exempt from this. An honorable foe will meet an honorable death. Never will he meet torture or mistreatment, provided h is not a coward, oathbreaker, or traitor There are no laws or regulations regarding cowards. (Do note that due to the societal disdain for cowardice, the ambiguity of this rule often leads to less than savoury treatment.) Protection of the Dark Elves A sil vows his service to his kin, above himself/herself The sil must ensure that the barbarians(Chaotic/unlawful mali’ker) are redeemed in the eyes of the ancestors and society. To mali’ker who refuse to throw away their barbaric traditions, it’s the duty of the sil to act against the barbarians. The degree of action depending on the degree of their unlawfulness. Surrender and/or Defeat A Sil of the Code will consider it to be a disgrace of the highest order to have been defeated in combat, and will atone for it by suicide or a long fast and devotion to the Pantheon of Ancestors. If the latter option is chosen, they will generally leap at any and all opportunities to regain their shattered honor, performing great deeds. Treason Treason is the least morally acceptable crime before the Sword Law; a Sil who has disgraced himself by treason, even indirect or unintentional, is expected to commit honourable suicide. This includes oaths to liegelords, commanders, and all those sworn before the ancestors. If a Sil is known to have committed an (or numerous) acts of treason and neglected to commit suicide, he will be shunned, both by the society of and the adherents of the Sword Law itself. This of course depends on the severity of the treason ((95% of the credit is due to GreatSmirnovious for this lore. The other 4% was me who added a few things and made the post. 1% Dak for showing me coolgraphic thing and having good moral support)) ===================================================================== You'd find a tome in the cathedral of ker'lomi that exlains the sword law ====================================================================
