Words Weighed, Decisions Made

In recent days, documents and discussion of Oren and its rebel forces have been apparent for all to see. The decisions of men in their actions and words have echoed afar, reaching even the walls of Annil'sul, and we have been listening. Ultimately, however, actions ring more true. It is difficult to compare the two sides when raiders represent one portion, and the invitation of a feast for the sake of diplomacy represents the other. The situation is far beyond the original incident, we are beyond courts and palaces, beyond the initial claims of either side and their platforms.

What matters is what is decided now. It is challenging to sympathize with the rebellion cause when they seem to take the chance at a moment to terrorize Oren's people, as a whole. To fight in skirmishes and subject its common-folk to raids that we Elves are quite familiar with ourselves. In turn, it is impossible to remember "old time's sake" when those of our kin in service to our friends in Aesterwald, those who brought about this friendship originally, the Volarens, are robbed and then cast out, similarly to how the rebels originally were. Only to be graciously received by those of loyalist Oren.

As said before, actions ring more true. Laureh'lin is no exception to this, and we do not expect it to be. Under my discretion, Laureh'lin has been lead wrongly. I can say I have been deceived, but what is also evident is the fact that I did not weigh my decisions properly, I allowed myself to be deceived. No longer.

There is no chance to justify this cause, in light of the opportunities these apparently righteous men have taken to kill on road sides, river sides and steal from their previous comrades, commoners and travelers.

Once more, under my discretion, Laureh'lin withdraws its support to Aesterwald and its allies in this dispute. We shall maintain neutrality, until diplomacy may be conducted during the field of the cloth of gold. It is with this letter I announce my intention to amend my shortcomings as an oath giver, and honor the parchment I spilled my blood upon. The reason for this being to not obligate Oren and its emperor to accept our aid, especially after my own poor and impulsive conduct, simply notify them and their people. They are free to deny this offer at any time, or privately discuss matters if they wish to accept before the feast.

-Phaedrus Lle'hileia, Iyat'laureh of Laureh'lin and Annilir of the Elberu'cinhir

Castor would stare for a moment slowly tilting his head, his eyebrow raising. The human of grayed hair would open his mouth as a look of pure annoyance crosses him. Taking in a deep breath, he walks away to send a letter to this man Phaedrus.
