A Thesis on Corruption

Penned by Deacon Patek

Throughout Humanity's grand journey through both time and distance, man has experienced joys and sorrows innumerable. From the common to the highest ranking offices of State and Church, each encounters these pleasures and pains as they navigate their way through the journey of mortality. A journey thought to be of two sides, one of  piety and the other of disgrace. But along this journey lays a path hidden from both the most pious and most disgraceful. This path leads the traveller down a much different road than the others, as not always is the traveller aware they have veered off from their preferred path. I speak to you, dear reader, of Corruption.

Corruption seeps into many aspects of mortal life. Be it the comfort of your home or the cool embrace of the unknown, Corruption may find a way to lead men astray. I do not wish to frighten you, dear reader, but to encourage you to look both within yourself, and without to your community for signs of Corruptions grips. Some would say that they cannot be Corrupted while others see all as Corrupt, and when discussing the roots of Corruption one must understand both of these ideals are dangerous to bring into your heart. For Corruption does not take hold over-night but over a lengthened period of time, and only shows itself truly when the individual thinks their actions are acceptable. Corruption takes the very beliefs of morality and justice and perverts them to its own cause. Those that state openly they cannot be Corruptible open themselves to be Corrupted by these perversions of their moralities, while those who see all as Corrupt will become Corrupted by indulging in the idea that they themselves are not Corrupt and so their actions are just. To find Corruption in its infancy, dear reader, one must be prepared to question their actions and the actions of others. To discern between the pious and the condemnable. To open their inner thoughts and feelings to the scrutiny of justice.

Before you finish this thesis, dear reader, do not think I blame you for Corruption, or even hold that you are Corrupt. I ask as an equal on this journey, for you to look at the path you walk. To find if it is your true path. For all may find themselves, at times and under circumstance, guided towards these paths.

In summary my dear reader, travel the good path through this life and not the Corrupted path.

By the Grace of God, Amen
