Overview

Clan Kh’at’or is a Clan of shuul most known not only for their prowess over the large creatures of the sea, but also their expertise in the utilization of brine. They are devout worshippers of the Dweller in the Deep, utilizing ancient knowledge and fables to thrust their clan into power. Clan Kh’at’or had revealed itself to descendent-kind upon the lands of Aevos, inviting many crews to test their strength against the Shuul Colosseum; a set of battles to test and strengthen the warbeasts and weapons of the Kh’at’or clan.

Appearances

Those of Clan Kh’at’or appear like most would imagine a race of fishmen to appear. Those within the clan appear as large fish, their mouths however quite larger than typical Pel’shuul. Many of them bare jagged teeth and red or pink  mouths that hold them. Their flesh is often shades of green, yellow, and blue and are typically covered in a form of hide armor as well as feathers, trinkets, and shiny objects.

Curse of the Depths

Through the course of interactions between clan Kh’at’or and the descendents, the mages of the clan had come together to create a curse to be placed upon the souls of descendents. While they are of different races and backgrounds, bridges and bonds can still be formed. Those who took upon this curse found themselves closely aligned with the Kh’at’or clan. They took upon different features and aspects that the shuul hold themselves, as well as granting them a favor within the politics of the clan.

More specifically, those who bare the curse find themselves longing for the waters of the deep ocean. Their minds constantly pull them closer to its grasp - yet no answer has been able to satisfy this hunger. The curse carves deep into their emotions, their desires and their willingness to survive. Yet now something has begun to change, an answer awaits within the depths of the abyss, something has begun to call for the souls of the depths.

Notable Characters

The Announcer - The announcer is the most popular of Kh’at’or shuul. He is the spokesperson of the clan and is the one who orchestrated the Colosseum and its events. The Announcer is also the shuul that has communicated and worked the closest with the descendents of Aevos and has maken many pacts and friendships with those who live upon it. The Announcer is the closest thing to a “ruler” or “leader” that the Kh’at’or people have.

Ste’klar’ax - Ste’klar is the head mage of the Kh’at’or clan. She is the one who teaches the manipulation of brine to newer generations of mages, and is the holder of the ancient knowledge and legacy of the shuul. Within the grouping of kh’at’or mages, the leader is known as the Dweller’s Maw. They often work from the shadows and are very scarcely seen due to the fact that only upon their deathbed may they pass the most ancient and exclusive knowledge upon their successor.

Life within Kh’at’or

Life within the Kh’at’or people is one of peace and harmony. Many young shuul spend their time sampling either the life of a mage or that of a beast rider. The two lives scarcely work together and the choice serves as a coming of age ceremony within the clan.

Those who elect the route of a brine-mage spend many years deep within the caverns and reefs of the ocean. Their past life becomes a flicker of the past as they are transformed and churned into a blank identity. Each mage within the Kh’at’or clan appears the same, their clothing and their bodies almost perfectly identical to one another. Through this they are able to let go of past prizes and possessions, making them able to entirely dedicate themselves to the Kh’at’or, the Dweller, and the usage of Brine.

Those who elect the route of a Beast Rider are thrusted into rigorous training and trials. This life is very dangerous, with many inexperienced or greedy Kh’at’or finding themselves a quick death at the hands of a restless creature. Riders find themselves practicing on smaller and more mundane creatures until they can truly call themselves a Beastrider once they have completed their training. Upon the final day of training, they will set out into the abyss to claim a mount of their own. This mount will be theirs until the death of one part of this bond. When a rider’s mount dies the rider typically returns to the mundane life of the village where they perform roles and jobs of typical life - medics, farmers, etc. Should the rider die and the mount survive, the creature returns to the Abyss to live out it’s life, with only the rare occasion resulting in it finding a new rider or even living with the remaining Kh’at’or.

Beasts of the Kh’at’or

Clan Kh’at’or is most known for their arsenal of beasts and war machines to be utilized in the oceans. Whilst they have yet to see true combat outside of the colosseum, they are the strongest military force below the surface of the water. Their beasts range from large krakens, whales, and magical beasts, to even that of smaller and fast mounts like sharks, swordfish, and etc..

These beasts often live around or with the Kh’at’or clan and are called upon and controlled through brine and personal bonds with the riders and people of the clan. These beasts are well cared for by the Kh’at’or, with some even being worshiped as lesser deities and gods of the deep.
