THE WEDDING OF ILSE HAAKONSDOTTIR & DRAGOMIR RAUDRDRAKAR

 

 

✠ TO THE KINDLED OF THE NORTH AND BEYOND; 

 

It is thus proclaimed that Ilse Haakonsdóttir and Dragomir Raudrdrakar shall be joined in sacred union, as decreed by ancient customs of the Red Faith. As sagas are told of those who stood before flame and did not falter, so too shall these two be bound in heart, and in will.

 

Tempered as iron in the forge of devotion, let it be known: this is a rite of binding, of shared burden, endurance and flame unbroken.

 

 

The Procession

✠ THE KINDLING OF THE HALL; 

Before the rite begins, the hall will be prepared in solemn quiet. With the braziers lit, and sacred herbs cast to flame so their smoke may carry prayer to the Allfather. All those gathered are to keep silence, holding their thoughts in reverence whilst the fire stirs and steadies.

 

✠ THE BINDING OF TWO; 

At the Keeper’s call, the bride shall be escorted forward by her blood-kin, where she will stand before the altar and declare herself before the Flame.

 

The groom shall then approach from among the gathered, to answer this call much the same. A challenge shall be issued by her blood-king, and steel will be met in honorable holmgang, first blood or yield deciding the matter. Should the union be permitted to continue, the rite proceeds.

 

The bride shall offer the Borðker, from which the groom drinks, accepting the bounty of the hearth and the hand offered to him.

Thereafter, beneath the Keeper’s guidance, the hands of both shall be cut and bound together with the Rauðrblíat, their blood and lineage joined as one. Oaths will be sworn upon their names, their ancestors, and the Allfather himself.

 

With the final invocation, their union shall be declared before the Flame Imperishable, witnessed by the faithful and the Essence of the Red Lord.

 

The Gathering

 

✠ FEAST OF KIN; 

With the rite fulfilled, all shall gather aside the wedding hall where kin and companion alike may offer word, drink, and warmth. Bread to be broken, horns raised, and blessings given in honor of the newly forged.
