Character Name:

Baerden

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

I was born of the earth. I, Baerden, am a dwarf. Like many dwarves, have an attachment to the earth and everything that comes from it's depths. At the age of 87, I look not unlike other dwarves. I am burly, hairy, and slightly stunted in stature. My personality reflects these attributes in many ways. I am hardy and relentless, especially while in the pursuit of rare ores. I am a hard drinker, enjoy any challenges to my ability, and love crude humor.

As a young dwarf, I watched the miners and even followed them down into the depths. However, one day stood out more than the others. It was the day that truly made me the miner I am today. It started like any other day. As a eager, young dwarf, I always showed up at the entrance of the mine early and waited for the older miners to show. We climbed down the primary mineshaft. Just as I broke through a thicker, stone wall, my eyes were blinded. What was in the room beyond would change me forever. The walls were studded with gold, iron, and diamond. Unfortunately, before it could all be excavated, the ceiling began to collapse. Now I can never return to that place; not after the fall of Aegis.

Besides being a man of the mines, I am a warrior. Bested only by the power of the orcs, dwarven soldiers are sturdy in battle. My father carried a sword and so do I. I'll never forget the day I took up a blade for the first time. When I was younger, my fascination of mining took my entire life. But, the day came when this could no longer be. The day Aegis was destroyed. My father was slain. I took his sword that day, and never looked back. The battlefield is not a foreign thing to me.

In the escape, I also lost my mother. The last memory of her was just before we climbed onto the boats. They said she would be on the next one, but I never found her. I know not of her fate.

Since then, I have spent most of my time underground. I rarely see the sun, and prefer the dim light of a torch. I have spent these years mining the various minerals and ores which shine and who's glimmer catch my eye. Though they are my only source of profit, I always keep some to myself. In this sense, I am truly a dwarf.

When I do spend time on the surface, I spend it selling my haul and drinking myself into a stupor. I mostly prefer spending time with other dwarves, but occasionally find myself in the company of other rough races.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

"What's goin' on here?" I say, approaching the three of them.

One the of two harassers responds rudely,"None of your business, stumpy!"

"STUMPY? WHO YOU CALLIN' STUMPY?" I yell, lunging towards the two men. As I swing my sword wildly, they quickly run away.

"Thanks for helping me!" the halfling says, still scared from the ordeal.

"No problem. I didn't do it fer you though, you should be glad they called me stumpy!" I reply, as I walk off and continue on my way.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

"Give me yer strongest pick and yer hardest ale!"

"I'm sorry sir, we don't sell tools here. However, I can offer you this:" the merchant presents a mug of ale and a pork chop.

"I see. Well, I suppose returning to the mines will have to wait, theres a feast to be had!" I respond.

I offer him a few ores in return and he eventually accepts the deal.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

I quickly look around. Although dwarves are not know for their stealth, I still act as if on a secret mission. I slink into the hut carefully.

"Hehe, no one around but a few iron bars fer me." I say, slipping the bars from the chest into my pack. I then look at the golden sword. "Yer beautiful, ya are. But, I'm afraid I already got a sword of me own." I feel the hilt of my own blade. It's familiar texture feels like home.

I continue on my way.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

"Hey! You there!" I say, pointing towards a merchant-looking gentleman.

"Who, me?" the man responds, looking around to who else I could be pointing at,"What do you want with me?"

"I find myself in need of a hardy meal an' a bed to sleep in."

"Why are you talking to me? Go to the inn, it's down that street there." He says, gesturing towards the north.

"Thank you, lad" I make my way in the direction he gestured and find the inn. Once there, I pay for a room and food with what few things I still have.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

"You, sir!" a guard approaches me.

"Yes?"

"We're looking for assistance. Bandits are occupying a nearby road, and mercenaries are wanted. There is pay." he explains.

" 'fraid I can't help ya. I got too much feastin' to do, an' I'm already behind on my mining quota!" I respond, declining his offer.

"Very well, perhaps next time." The guard leaves me to my business.
