Out-Of-Character

Main Minecraft Account Name: Roxthesox

Alternate Minecraft Account Name: LightTwig

In your own words, define what the act of Roleplaying is: Roleplaying is taking on a fictional character who in our case is portrayed on the server. You in a sense become them, your morals and ideals are taken away as you make decisions thinking about what your character would choose.

In your own Words, define what the act of Metagaming is: Metagaming is using OOC (Out of Character) knowledge IC (in character). An example of this would be asking my friend on skype what he's doing on the server, say he tells me he's being attacked by orcs. It would be metagaming if I ran to his location even though my character had no way of knowing what was happening.

In your own Words, define what the act of Powergaming is: Powergaming is giving your character an unfair advantage in the world of Asulon. It can mean many things. Powergaming could be a character being unfair in rp (or emotes) by assuming control of another character. For example "Grevish the Knight punches the orc square in the jaw knocking him unconscious". This is unfair for whoever was playing the orc.

In-Character:

Character Name: Amber Seraphim

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Quarter elf, quarter dwarf, and half human. (Approved by GMs)

Biography: Amber was the youngest child of a rich politician in Artal, commonly referred to Master Seraphim. Amber was often ignored as most of her parents attention went to her brothers who pursed military careers. Woodrouse, the servant to the Seraphim family, and Amber's mother often took care of Amber whenever they could. Her father was a retired soldier, and now worked in politics serving the head of the province.

Growing up Amber was forbidden to see men (aside from her family and Woodrouse) as her mother believed that she would shirk from her duties to spend time with them. As declared by her mother she was to learn how to knit, farm, sew, and cook. While Amber loved her mother the chores she was given nearly drove the poor girl mad. She did not understand why she needed to finish her work when Woodrouse was more than happy too. As a matter of fact, Woodrouse often did work for her while she would sneak into town.

Her pleasant life would change on the day of the cataclysm. Like many victims of the grand end to Artal, she was unprepared. That morning she woke up before her parents and with the help of Woodrouse and a neighbour to her family she caught a farmer's cart heading to the nearest city. She remembers the day fondly, all the things that were kept from her as a child seemed as if they were locked in this city. Nearing the end of the day her walk to the edge of town was interrupted by shouting of a group of people, they were flustered and some were crying as they carried everything they could out of the town. Amber shared the confused look with many witnesses of the scene, it until seconds later when a terrible shake stirred all those in the square. The cobblestone under her feat tore as the earth heaved from side to side. Like the ending to a grim fable the sky grew dark as the cries of the people grew louder.

Thinking quickly Amber snapped out of her shock and began to run as fast as she could towards her home, she played out the plan in her head of her family escaping to another region safely. But her hopes were dashed as a perimeter of guardsmen blocked her path. The frantic and scared hordes of people pushed her along towards the docks which held large barges being filled full of people. Though she fought against the crowd to break away her efforts were in vain as she suddenly was shoved onto the boat along with countless other scared and confused people.

After a month at sea the authority of her ship declared that several life boats be sent out to search for land. Some of the refugees would be taken on these boats to settle any land found, she was chosen to sit in one of them. Her boat landed several days later on the shores of an unknown land. While the guardsmen set up camp Amber had been given the job to find a supply of fresh water. Setting off immediately she eventually found her self lost after wandering for what seemed like hours on end. Dehydrated, tired and weak she fell into a long sleep.

What is your Character's ambitions?: Amber seeks anyone else who can help her, she knows that her old life is gone and she must learn to survive here. While it is dangerous and new, she is a confident young woman who has the will to live and prosper.

Open-Response-Questions

Answer at least three out of five listed

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? She takes pity on the poor things being hassled by the larger creatures. She knows that she has little chance of scaring them off so she hides until the bullies leave. Like predicted the pair of hooligans leave satisfied with their new pocket of Minas. Carefully Amber leaves her hiding place and walks up the halfling slowly, she does not fear him but is watchful anyways. Trying not to scare him she offers a slice of bread and a small amount of golden coins that she has collected. Her soft heart gets in the way of her sensibility sometimes, she knows it is never wise nor safe to help a stranger but often she cannot shake the feeling of needing to help.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? As soon as she realizes that the foreign man is speaking to her, she turns a shade of crimson. The man looks to her confused as if he has said something to offend her. Though she doesn't speak his language she does her best to signal she needed nothing. Smiling nervously she waves her arms declining any offer while repeating "Neca, neca" (meaning no) softly. Taking the hint the merchant shrugs while lightly chuckling to himself, while he address another potential customer she moves away quickly. Disappearing out of sight.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: As she holds the bars in her hand she debates the worth in taking the items. She knows that iron and gold are both worth good coin in most economies, but she doesn't like the idea of this haunting her and perhaps catching her one day. She shakes the thought from her head and sets the scene as if she had never been there, she leaves with none of the items.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? She sighs in relief upon finding not only a group of friendly people, even though they also do not speak her language. She greets the traders by nodding and sits by the their campfire. The group is lively and are sharing stories of their travels in this foreign land, as the night slowly goes on she asks with gestures if they have rations to spare. She is handed a loaf of bread, being too naive for her own good she eats it without worrying about the rare chance of the men having ill intentions for her. After a good night of eating and talking she leaves at dawn before they wake, leaving a small token of thanks.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Knowing that her ability in combat is less than enough to support the men she stays at the inn, trying to not draw attention to herself. After the men return she grabs the attention of a nurse tending those wounded in the brawl, after a minute or two of Amber trying to explain that she wishes to help the nurse finally understands. Amber spends the rest of her time there tending to the wounded to the best of her ability.
